not the rumours, i think that was just one - but didn't they win some kind of grammy for the dance?

It was the one and then 2003 Grammy Hall of Fame (Rumours again). I can't be certain but as I recall that's how the press get at more than one.
ETA: apologies, ignore me, reread the press release & see I was incorrect. There have been threads on this in the past and I recalled the possibility being hall of fame or a production award.

^and by production I mean that someone, here I think, once suggested that FM members each received two Grammy's, one as artist and one as producer as the award goes to both. I can't confirm that but thought I'd pass it along. The Grammy site lists two wins but I don't see where it has specifics on the second.

This is interesting. The award is given not only for musical recognition, but for charitable works (ie, MusicCARES (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MusiCares_Person_of_the_Year)), which is why it's not been given to a band before. Bands typically don't do charitable works as a unit.
I wonder what philanthropic works FM have done as a band to warrant this award? Or are they just adding up the individuals' acts together?

Not sure. There was a thread a few months ago where we were discussing the band's scant philanthropic efforts. But what do we know?
I've seen these concerts on AXS TV. One more thing to look forward to in 2018.

I don't think FM is performing an entire concert, more likely 2-3 songs. But even if they were performing an entire concert at this event, it makes sense they would perform the exact same set as they did before- with Buck/Vie on tour right now and the holidays coming up, the band will barely have time to rehearse before the date.
But their next world tour, that's when we'll see some changes to the set list. The question is, how many changes will they be willing to actually make?

The event is from 7:30pm-10pm, and there are at least 6 other people scheduled to perform. Frankly, I'm surprised FM is performing at all, since they are the guests being honored.

it's pretty standard the way that show is sequenced. i've seen several musicares person of the year shows, and more than half of the show are always various other performers honoring person of the year and performing their songs, with camera cutting to the person of the year a lot as other bands and presenters talk about them and perform, and at the end the person/band of the year performs short set of their songs.

Thanks for the info. I've never been to or seen the event, but I just figured with a 2 1/2 hour schedule and at least 6 other performers, there would be no way FM could perform a full show. Their concert alone lasts 2 1/2 hours, just by themselves! A medley makes more sense, like you said.

They'll do one whole song, or two, depending on the time.

they don't do medleys. most musicares honorees do a number of songs to close out the show / evening. maybe 5-7? i can't remember exactly i never counted but definitely more than just 2-3, at least all the ones i've seen / were televised.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you meant by a shorter set. Probably the usual suspects, then- Go Your Own Way, Dreams, Everywhere, Rhiannon, the Chain, and Don't Stop.

Stevie and Mick have visited wounded soldiers together... Maybe that counts as a band effort? Does this award honor charitable artists who have been charitable this year or just in general? I am very interested to hear what charities they support.

yes, Fleetwood Mac did. but bands don't do medleys at Musicares ceremonies (at least not at the ones i watched, it might be up to the band what they want to do, and even if they want to perform at all).

i think that at Springsteen's ceremony he several times referred to something extra charitable that he did specifically when (after?) he got a call (offer?) to be a Mucicares person of the year.

So Far, No Rock Acts Confirmed For Fleetwood Mac’s MusiCares Person of the Year Gala
The initial performers have been announced for the 2018 MusiCares Person of the Year gala paying tribute to Fleetwood Mac -- and, interestingly, none are from the rock world.
Instead the Mac will be feted by pop stars John Legend, Lorde, Harry Styles, Haim and OneRepublic, as well as country crossover hero and former American Idol judge Keith Urban. More performers are expected to be announced for the show on January 26 at New York's Radio City Music Hall, with proceeds going to the MusiCares fund, which helps musicians and music industry staffers in need of assistance.
Fleetwood Mac is expected to tour and possibly release new music next year as well; Details are still vague, but the group's Lindsey Buckingham tells us that
"I think the earliest anyone expected to be back on the road with Fleetwood Mac might've been Spring of 2018. And now that's not actually being pushed back by Stevie (Nicks). My understanding is that she's all ready...and now, you know, because I've got this solo album, I'm the one who's holding it up. But, you know, that's typical for us. There's a lot of moving parts, so you know you gotta wait for everyone to be ready."

I see this as part of the efforts on the part of their management to get their names back in the news with something fresh going on as it's been awhile. It's part of what will be the build up in publicity ahead of the next tour. These awards don't just randomly come out of nowhere; phone calls are made, etc.:nod:

Lorde, Harry Styles, John Legend & More to Perform at MusiCares Tribute to Fleetwood Mac
An all-star lineup of performers has been announced to perform at the 2018 MusiCares Person of the Year ceremony.
Fleetwood Mac is being honored with this year's award, making them the first band to receive MusiCares' prestigious Person of the Year award. The ceremony will features performances from a flurry of artists from different parts of the music world. Lorde, Harry Styles, John Legend, Haim, OneRepublic, and Keith Urban will all perform at the ceremony, before Fleetwood Mac closes it out themselves.
In a statement released today (Nov. 10), MusiCares said Fleetwood Mac will "be celebrated for their extraordinary creative accomplishments and significant charitable work."
Proceeds from the annual Person of the Year tribute -- now in its 28th year -- provide essential support for MusiCares, which ensures all music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical, and personal need. Past MusiCares Person of the Year honorees include Tony Bennett, Bono, Natalie Cole, Gloria Estefan, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Carole King, Lionel Richie, Barbra Streisand, and Stevie Wonder.
The 2018 MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute will take place on Friday, January 26th at Radio City Music Hall.

Very true, that's the interesting part that appeals to me.
Getting to see BuckVie in small venues was unreal. I hadn't been that close to Christine since 1984. Lindsey since 1992.
I had row 3 Dead Center at Blossom in Cleveland for Stevie in 1994. That's a bit bigger. But, the seated section seats about 5500. The rest is lawn. It felt small and I was goo goo eyed.

I was under the impression they'd probably only be playing a few songs with most of the evening taken up by the likes of Little Big Town fawning over our band and playing covers. For those prices, would you really want to see that line up butchering Fleetwood Mac songs? Bar a few pleasant surprises a full play through of that 'Just Tell Me That You Want Me' album is quite painful. I fear this might feel the same.

Miley Cyrus, Imagine Dragons to Honor Fleetwood Mac at MusiCares, Bill Clinton Set to Present Award
1/10/2018 by Melinda Newman
More Artists Join Lorde, Harry Styles And OneRepublic
Imagine Dragons, Miley Cyrus, Little Big Town, Juanes, Portugal. The Man, Brandi Carlile, Zac Brown Band, Alison Krauss and Jerry Douglas have been added to the lineup to fete MusiCares Person of the Year Fleetwood Mac on Jan. 26 at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.
They join previously announced performers Lorde, OneRepublic, Harry Styles, Keith Urban and Haim.
Additionally, President Bill Clinton will present Fleetwood Mac their award. The band’s hit “Don’t Stop” was his campaign song while running for president in 1992 and has become his unofficial theme.
Fleetwood Mac is the first band to be honored as MusiCares Person of the Year. Past honorees include Tony Bennett, Bono, Natalie Cole, Phil Collins, David Crosby, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Gloria Estefan, Aretha Franklin, Don Henley, Billy Joel, Elton John, Quincy Jones, Carole King, Paul McCartney, Luciano Pavarotti, Tom Petty, Bonnie Raitt, Lionel Richie, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Barbra Streisand, James Taylor, Brian Wilson, Stevie Wonder, and Neil Young.
With the Jan. 28 Grammy Awards moving to New York this year for the first time in 15 years, MusiCares will break tradition by taking place in a concert venue instead of a ballroom or convention center. After the concert, there will be an after-party and silent auction at the New York Hilton Midtown. Individual orchestra seats range from $1,750 to $8,500. Mezzanine seats are on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster with prices ranging from $356 to $606.
Proceeds go to the MusiCares Foundation, which offers health and human services and programs to members of the music community, including emergency financial assistance.

Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, Christine McVie, John McVie, and Stevie Nicks will perform together at the benefit concert. Additionally, this latest announcement sees Imagine Dragons and Portugal. The Man, as well as Brandi Carlile, Miley Cyrus, Juanes, Alison Krauss and Jerry Douglas, Little Big Town, and the Zac Brown Band sharing the stage with previously announced artists Lorde, Harry Styles, Keith Urban, John Legend, Haim, and OneRepublic to pay tribute to the band with covers of the biggest and most memorable songs from Fleetwood Mac’s catalog.

MusiCares is The Recording Academy’s charity that provides financial, medical, and personal assistance as well as human services to musicians in need, offering a wide variety of programs in everything from financial assistance to substance abuse treatment. So it’s only fitting that Fleetwood Mac were named the Person of the Year for their “creative accomplishments” and longtime support of multiple charities.
The 2018 MusiCares Person of the Year tribute concert takes place during GRAMMY week on Friday, January 26 at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Tickets can be found here.
As for the GRAMMY Awards, they’ll broadcast live from New York City’s Madison Square Garden at 7:30 PM ET on CBS Sunday, January 28.

So, this is strange, but the Fleetwood Mac Fan Club account on Instagram posted a pic of the band rehearsing for the MusiCares show. That photo has since been deleted.
Going from memory, I saw Stevie (with sunglasses) at the mic, John (back turned to the camera), Mick behind the drums, and Lindsey with guitar. Couldn't see Chris in the pic.
The Fan Club account was reposting James Robinson's photo. He appears to have taken it down is well, and it looks like he works for Suretone Entertainment, who appears to manage Fleetwood Mac to some extent? His account has several pics of him with Mick, Chris, Stevie. I apologize if somebody knows who this is or Suretone's relationship with the band, just did a little digging for my own education. This is his Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/kingjames508/ And here is Suretone's management roster: http://suretone.com/management/

I'm aware several of the individual acts moved over to Suretone Management from Sanctuary a few years ago. I didn't know Stevie was with them though. Not sure why the pics would be deleted- very secretive. Sure Chris will be there out of shot somewhere.
Wonder whether Lorde will bring out Jack Antonoff on stage. Also looks like Jared Leto has been added. Really curious how it will go and who will sing which song!

This has turned out to be rather a bigger thing than I expected. But then I'm on the other side of the Atlantic, so rather out of it as far as Mac activity is concerned these days...
I don't have too much of a problem with Lorde's performance - she's very young and at least she threw herself into it. It also seemed to be pitched very low for her though.
Harry Styles seemed to be enjoying himself, although I couldn't hear him at all. Quite liked Miley Cyrus - the fiddle worked well...
Anyone know how many songs FM actually played?

Apologies if this has been discussed earlier but this award is to honor a recording artist who has made important contributions to the world of music and demonstrated extraordinary humanitarian and philanthropic efforts. per the Musicares website.
It pains me to say that I'm not particularly aware of extraordinary humanitarian and philanthropic efforts. by the Mac. Maybe I'm out of the loop- I know Stevie has her work with the US armed forces, and royalties from Beautiful Child go to UNICEF, and Mick seems to get involved with good causes out in Hawaii, but other than that I'm not aware of that much that they've done. Maybe it's all under the radar. If anyone would care to enlighten me, please do. Perhaps they should have been given an award for increasing exports from Bolivia.
On a side note, I was pleased to see John looking much better and wearing an Arsenal scarf, not that I'm a Gooner myself.

Anyone have interview videos? I saw a few clips on Instagram but they were cut off.
I think some cover artists were better than others. Lorde's interpretation of Silver Springs was... interesting. She was drowned out at the end by the backup singers. Jared Leto's performance was the same way, but the whole time.
The others seemed pretty faithful to either the album or concert versions of the hits.

As I was just reading still and hadn’t yet viewed it, I couldn’t believe people would knock NGBA with a choir, since I’ve only ever known a choir to enhance songs, it could never be a negative. Well after viewing the video I understand why it was knocked. NGBA is the first song I’ve ever heard where there is zero reason to add a choir. It is a song That only works in complete simplicity. It doesn’t work when Lindsey turns this 2 minutes song ito a 5 and a half minute song with his pauses and note stretches, and it is no where near a deep or meaningful enough (I realize that could offend both stevie and Lindsey but it’s meant as a compliment to the song, really) to deserve a choir.
That said I have to give insane props to the band for really blowing it out of the park with their decision of set list for what they played themselves. They did all the songs they still play really and highlight all their individual skills (all really highlight the kick ass rythm section, Lindsey’s best guitar solos, Stevie’s best vocal song and best band playing together song.
In many ways I feel this would be an incredible dream scenerio concert that’s more realistic then what we normally come up with ourselves. The band should play an 18 song set (to maintain the really high quality throughout of these 5 songs, I’m so afraid and a few other big hits they still have a passion for and they can outsource their throwaway songs (second hand news) or songs stevie and Christine have not been shy about saying their sick of doing (landslide, songbird) to an opening act cover band to play 10 warm up songs that are “technically” just an extension of the main show and not an opening act!?
Does anyone agree with this? I don’t mind hearing this band play the songs their good at over and over, but if it gives them
A rest to save up from their better/rarer songs and let the cover band sing dreams and say love me.
And I realize some may not consider the songs I grouped as throwaways to be throwaways but I think most of us and th band kind of do?

Sorry, I'm not sure I totally follow you. Are you saying they should only play 18 of their biggest hits and farm a further 10 big hits out to an opening act to play covers? I might be up for this if among the 18 there were rarer/deeper cuts but if they are only going to play hits anyway they might as well do the full set.
It's some of their 'essentials' I'm a bit sick of (and Songbird wouldn't be one of them. I need that at the end).
PS, they are still pretty good at playing almost all of them, we've just got too used to hearing them. They should play 18 'essentials' and 10 adventurous ones.

I also must take back what I always said about Fleetwood Mac not having a worthy super bowl set. Those 5 songs together are almost an exciting enough and Tight enough to be a Super Bowl set with some edits. Ironically my favorite of yh set probably wouldn’t work in the super bowl setting (GDW onviosuly) Stevie’s really consistent with her long windeness these days! It’s in her stories AND her songs. All her concert stand outs take 7 minutes of time to get the full effect (gdw, moonlight, full edge, silver springs) gypsy, dreams and Rhiannon make her look like such a weak link in the band.
Really only the abbreviated edge of 17 or a Tom Petty cover would be quick enough and highlight Stevie’s current voice. Or if they wanted to stick to only Fleetwood Mac then they could go the ending really emotional with Landslide, which I think works really well too but I’m just thinking like sensitive Stevie and could imagine her wanting equal rocking time during the super bowl or something crazy.

well it’s just that I feel we consistently get the best out of these guys at the 16 to 19 song range as apprised to the mid 20s. The bands made it very clear(well the 3 writers at least) that they would like to play more variety and have even finally begun to take action on that promise in the recent solo/duo tours. And I fully believe that this upcoming FM tour will finally see them give
Is a truly exciting and updated set list of 26-28 songs, which is a
Big spike from previous years. with some hopeful time saving compromises ala stevie upping her song count by shortening Edge and scrapping the unnecessary Rhiannon piano solo, maybe we get rid of micks drum solo? Now I freaking love it when I’m there and agree that the bands namesake absolutely smdeserves to be highlighted, but I appreciate and notice Micks talents so much more within the context of a song vs a forced solo more then Any other drummer. His presence is so noticeable in making both gold dust woman and I’m so afraid better musically then their non Fleetwood Mac live versions (side note the same is not true with guitar playing on gold dust woman, sorry Lindsey!)
Sorry for all that rambling, I’m almost as bad as stevie. But the point of that all was even if I believe the band will do what they say and gives us a better song balance in their next tour, the only reason I still say the 10 song opening act cover band (and I realize it’s completley unrealistic to expect the imagine dragons to spend 3 months playing a few Fleetwood Mac covers as an opening act, the reality and logistics of this are impossible, but so was an all eras Fleetwood Mac concert or even show really.) would ever be preferable to just Fleetwood Mac doing 27 songs is for certain songs I’d enjoy a great cover to a sub par original (cough gypsy) and for other songs it has nothing to do with ability and just for the sake of th band. Christine uses any excuse in the book to not do songbird (ok your hand hurt but you can endure the pain for every other danm song! I use that same excuse at work when I’m sick. I can show up today and do this this this this and this that I do every day but not that one thing I REALLY hate doing.
She dislikes it so much she actively mocks audiences
How she’s not gonna do it and end the show with a much ballsier choice. not upset with her at all, love her choice, but still,
The fact remains she very ballsily is on record going out of her way to announce she would not be playing songbird tonight! Stevie would never be brave enough to call out that she won’t be playing Dreams tonight!
So again this weird opening cover band suggestion isn’t meant to be realistic just what would amount to a dream sceneiro concert quality and band enjoyment wise. For just me at least.

What a great honor for our band, Fleetwood Mac! So cool for all these contemporary artists to come out and sing their praises. BUT, LOL, it's apparent, at least to these ears, that no one does FM, like FM!!!!
Oh, and not to get political, but it was nice to know that FM subbed "Little Lies" in place of "Don't Stop" for Slick Willy!

I've been meaning to make this EXACT post myself since this thread started! HOW DID THEY GET THIS AWARD?? The bands made it very clear(well the 3 writers at least) that they would like to play more variety and have even finally begun to take action on that promise in the recent solo/duo tours. And I fully believe that this upcoming FM tour will finally see them give us a truly exciting and updated set list of 26-28 songs, which is a big spike from previous years.
Christine uses any excuse in the book to not do songbird (ok your hand hurt but you can endure the pain for every other danm song! I use that same excuse at work when I’m sick. I can show up today and do this this this this and this that I do every day but not that one thing I REALLY hate doing.
I'll believe they'll give us an exciting and updated setlist when I see it!
To be fair to Christine, she really does have problems with her hand. She really doesnt play much on the other songs these days- Brett does most of the work. I think she just tinkles along a bit every now and then. If she plays Songbird though, she really has to play it. She cant tinkle along on that whilst somebody else plays the keys as the full spotlight is on the piano.
As far as the opening act goes- yeah a big name band playing Fleetwood Mac covers would be unrealistic. However, somebody playing Fleetwood Mac songs isnt out of the question. I vaguely remember on one of the recent tours- when they came to the UK Mick announced some random guy he saw on Youtube playing a FM cover was going to open for them. I think this was a serious plan at one point. However, it never came to fruition. So yeah, they could get a nobody to come out and play a few songs that won't be featured in the main set.

Come on people, dont be naiive...thats how these things tend to work. Fleetwood Mac might do a bit for charity, but thats not really the point. Organisers need to find an artist they can celebrate that will attract big names to come along. As far as charity is concerned its all about the amount of money they can raise on the evening. I'm sure Fleetwood Mac would have raised a fair few dollars on the night.
btw, I hope Fleetwood Mac have done their bit for George Hawkins. Sadly I'm not sure they would have.

LMAO Boy are you back peddling  Before you call someone a rapist maybe they should have been charged or convicted of rape? Society today wants to tag everyone with labels based on their subjective beliefs.
Your comment is just really sad but its territory of the society we live in today. You can agree or hate someone's politics but to call them a rapist with no proof is a bridge too far. To call someone a rapist who was never arrested, never charged with rape and never convicted of rape is a tragedy. You are just trolling.

LOL Harry was a member of a group called One Direction that was super popular all over the world for a few years. Probably could outsell FM in concert 3 times over. But Harry felt he was too famous for that one group and so he quit to become a solo artist. My guess is, he should have stayed with his band and done side solo projects, a la Stevie.

I bet Stevie hates seeing Lindsey Happy and with kids after the way she abused him all those years. I also bet it really gets her goat she wasn’t the mother of those kids. She should write a song about lost time and regret and missed opportunities from the OTHER side of youth. As a warning to other selfish and vain young women to not put sex drugs and rock and roll ahead of having happiness. She’s just been so bitter the last 15 years or so. Mostly since Christine came back but it’s slowly been creeping in since right after Say You will tour. It almost makes me wish she would marry someone and adopt a few foster kids so she can get on with her life and be creative and happy again.

Fleetwood Mac was the only act worth seeing at its grim Grammy weekend MusiCares tribute

Fleetwood Mac was the only act worth seeing at its grim Grammy weekend MusiCares tribute
Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks, from left, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood at Friday's MusiCares Person of the Year benefit in New York. (Evan Agostini / Invision/Associated Press)
Leave it to Fleetwood Mac to steal the show at its own tribute concert.
Performing last to close Friday night's MusiCares Person of the Year benefit, the annual Grammy-weekend event meant to recognize an artist's work and philanthropy, the veteran band long associated with Los Angeles played a thrilling five-song set that made clear how good — and weird — it can still be when the group's members decide to care.
And thank heavens they cared Friday, because until they came onstage, this thing was grim.
Very, very grim.
The problem wasn't a lack of talent. Held at New York's Radio City Music Hall, the concert featured plenty of the stylish young pop acts whose admiration of Fleetwood Mac has helped bring the band back into vogue over the last few years.
Haim covered "Gypsy." Miley Cyrus sang "Landslide." And Lorde turned up to do "Silver Springs," the ghostly "Rumours" B-side that's like a secret handshake among Fleetwood Mac's faithful.
Instead, it was the setting that killed MusiCares' usual buzz.
The show typically takes place in a large hall at the Los Angeles Convention Center, where attendees are seated at cozy dinner tables with food and wine. In L.A., the night feels like a big party; it often ends (as in recent years honoring Lionel Richie and Bruce Springsteen) with a seemingly impromptu jam session.
Sure, folks pay thousands of bucks to get in. And nobody's ever gone home wishing he or she had heard just a bit more show-biz self-congratulation.
But the event has — dare I say it — a vibe.
Not here, though.
Because the Grammys ceremony moved to New York this year, MusiCares moved along with it. And Radio City, with its plush carpeting and neat concert-hall seating, is simply the wrong place to do this, especially when the act being feted is one of the most iconic bands of the last half-century.
Between songs, the room was as quiet as a funeral. And the bar stopped serving booze by 9 p.m., for heaven's sake — hardly an effective way to get anyone to enjoy Imagine Dragons, which slogged through "Big Love," or Jared Leto, who wore a messianic white suit to sing "Never Going Back Again."
Alison Krauss, the fastidious bluegrass doyenne, made use of the hushed environment in a pretty (if airless) "Songbird." But then came the unbearable Zac Brown Band with a corny "Don't Stop" that had you longing for the distraction of industry people schmoozing.
The temperature was so low that there seemed little reason to expect the guests of honor to work up much of a sweat.
After all, it was only six months ago that Fleetwood Mac put on one of the laziest, least inspired performances I've ever seen as part of July's Classic West festival at Dodger Stadium.
But something happened between then and Friday to revive Fleetwood Mac, which played here with joyful purpose and barbed intensity.
Maybe it was the warm, funny introduction by former President Bill Clinton, who told the story of how "Don't Stop" came to soundtrack his run for the Oval Office. (Turns out the song was the suggestion of a young kid tasked with driving Clinton around on an early campaign visit to L.A.)
Or perhaps the band was spurred back into action by the death last year of Tom Petty. In an endearing acceptance speech, Stevie Nicks said her close friend's passing had "just about broken" her heart.
Petty wasn't well near the end of his life, according to Nicks, who said he ought to have canceled the tour that ended in September at the Hollywood Bowl, just days before he died of an accidental prescription drug overdose.
"He should've just gone home and gone to the hospital," Nicks said of the man who himself was recognized in 2017 as MusiCares' Person of the Year. "But not Tom. He was going to go down that river."
Whatever the case, Fleetwood Mac blazed through "The Chain," with help on backing vocals from Harry Styles, as though the band had rediscovered its passion. It set "Little Lies" to a propulsive gallop and filled "Tusk" with jagged shards of noise.
For "Gold Dust Woman," Nicks put real menace in her voice. Yet the group's closer, "Go Your Own Way," was ragged and blissed-out — not the sound of obligation but of abandon.
If only the room had been similarly geared to celebrate.

Stars Fawn Over Fleetwood Mac, Music’s Favorite Dysfunctional Family
The MusiCares Person of the Year event raised more than $7 million.
By Michele Amabile Angermiller
Fleetwood Mac is well known for being a dysfunctional family, and nobody knows it better than Lindsey Buckingham. “It was much of the attraction, and much of the fuel for our material. It was also the subtext of heroicism that lead us to be able to follow our destiny despite all the emotional and social di!iculties we were having,” he told the crowd at Radio City Music Hall as he took the podium to thank audience of revelers on hand to celebrate as the band was honored as the first ever band to be named the MusiCares Person of the Year. “Not very far below that level of dysfunction is what really exists and what we are feeling even more now in our career, which is love. This has always been a group of chemistry.”
It is that drama that resulted in some classic songs, from “Don’t Stop” (a song that special guest President Bill Clinton noted has been played more for him than “Hail to the Chief”) to “Landslide” to “Gypsy,” which were all performed and then some by scheduled performers Alison Krauss, Lorde, Miley Cyrus, Little Big Town, Imagine Dragons, Zac Brown Band, Keith Urban, Haim, Jared Leto and Harry Styles, who not only introduced the band but joined them for “The Chain.”
While the group – Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Christie McVie and John McVie — walked the carpet posing for pictures, there were a few surprises as Buckingham and Nancy Pelosi had a chance encounter, and a quick smile and handshake, before the show.
Speaking to Variety on the red carpet, Grammy Award winner, songwriter (“We’ve Only Just Begun,” “Rainy Days and Mondays,”Evergreen”) and president and chairman of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Paul Williams compared the group to his own first marriage.
“You know they’re a little bit like my first wife. We had kids and when we couldn’t stand each other we went off in different directions and at a certain point we become great friends,” he said. “I think that’s what Fleetwood Mac is like. You look you look at Stevie. You look at these guys lined up with the kind of music that they’re making together is really soulful.”
For Haim, performing “Gypsy” at Radio City Music Hall was special for several reasons—not only were they happy to perform honoring Fleetwood Mac, but just a few short hours before show time they learned that the group’s upcoming show at the venue had sold out, with another date quickly added. Plus, it was the first time all three sisters set foot in the Hall.
“This is a lot of people,” laughed Este, but doing it for Fleetwood Mac is personal, as their father used to play the songs to them and the live version of “Landslide” inspired them as live performers. “This is for you Daddy,” Este said, channeling her inner Stevie before heading into the show.
Speaking to Variety, “Madame President” star Erich Bergen said besides being great songwriters, Fleetwood Mac is among the greats of live acts. “To see them live, to quote one of their songs, is like seeing the seven wonders of the world. There are so many artists you have to see live — there is Bruce Springsteen, there is Neil Diamond and there is Fleetwood Mac,” said Bergen.
Singer Brandi Carlile, who is weeks away from the Feb. 16 release of her new album “By the Way, I Forgive You,” said she originally had another song in mind to perform. “I wanted to sing ‘The Chain,’ but then I found out that they were singing ‘The Chain,’” she said. “So, I was like, yeah, I don’t want to do ‘The Chain,’ anymore I want to hear Fleetwood Mac do it.”
The Man lead singer John Gourley – proudly wearing a “F—k Mike Love” button as he continues his trend of memorable red carpet looks — said his love of the band stretches back to the Peter Greene era.“It’s a band that we all listen to, and this is something that we talk about quite a bit—is they are the one group we all agree on. They have so much music,” he said. “I love all the early records.”
Grammy nominee Lisa Loeb, who is up for Best Children’s Album, said when she was a child, the songs of Fleetwood Mac represented a magical world.
“Fleetwood Mac means so much to me as singer-songwriter, because when I was a kid, I saw them as this image of magic, and harmonies and songs, and as I’ve gotten older and I look back, I see there was so much style there, but the songs were at the heart of everything and their performance,” she said. “It makes the perfect rock star.”
It is that magic that Nicks said she aspires to hold on to with every performance. Prior to taking the stage, Styles had asked if she was “all right?” Nicks said the nerves are what makes performing great, and artists should never lose that feeling. “When it goes away, you’re in trouble, because the butterflies are what makes you walk out on the stage and be magical,” she said.
Proceeds from the annual MusiCares gala support members of the music industry in times of financial and medical need, as well as offering assistance in recovery. After the show, which raised some $7 million for MusiCares, according to Recording Academy chairman Neil Portnow, guests attended an after-party at the New York Hilton bidding on auction items, including VIP meet and greet packages with Imagine Dragons and an autographed tambourine signed by Stevie Nicks, which will add to the tally.

She's probably got a few pair of gloves at home, made from her leftover neck skin.:lol::lol:

from red carpet interview:
http://hollywoodlife.com/2018/01/29/keith-urban-nicole-kidman-daughters-inspired-female-grammys/
Keith Urban spoke EXCLUSIVELY with HollywoodLife about his wife & two daughters serving as his muses for his latest, top-charting single, ‘Female.’
In the midst of the #TimesUp and #MeToo movements, Keith Urban‘s inspiring and important song “Female” could serve as an anthem of the crusade. The lead single of his upcoming ninth studio album Graffiti U is essentially a declaration of respect, admiration and praise of women all over the world. The country music phenomenon spoke to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY about his inspiration behind the song, while on the red carpet at the Grammy’s MusiCares Person Of The Year Tribute, honoring Fleetwood Mac. “It’s a song that speaks to different people in different ways,” Keith, 50, shared. “I know for me, my connection was just as much about being a husband, as it was about being a father of two girls, as well, so it really spoke to me.” Aww! Keith is notably the husband of award-winning actress Nicole Kidman, and the two have been each other’s biggest fans on the awards show circuits the last few months. Their mutual love and respect for each other is absolutely undeniable, and, through Keith’s “Female” lyrics, that’s even more obvious. The Aussies have been married since 2006, and are parents to Faith Margaret, 7, and Sunday Rose, 9.
At the MusiCares event, Keith jammed out to “Second Hand News,” a hit by Fleetwood Mac, one of Keith’s greatest inspirations. The song gave Keith the opportunity to show off his incredible guitar skills, which he says were influenced by Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham. In a statement to the Recording Academy, Keith said, “Lindsey is one of the most underrated guitarists, in my opinion, of all-time,” adding, “I say that because he doesn’t play like anybody. [With] Lindsey, I can’t hear any of his influences. He’s just such an original player.” I think we could say the same about Keith, who has inspired so many young country artists, himself.
Lorde, Imagine Dragons, HAIM, Miley Cyrus and more paid tribute to music legends Fleetwood Mac at Radio City Music Hall for the pre-Grammy MusiCares gala, which raised over $7 million in support of MusiCares’ programs and services, which include medical, financial and addiction recovery assistance for people in the music industry.
HollywoodLifers, do you love Keith Urban’s song “Female?” Let us know!

Imagine Dragons, OneRepublic Singers Declare Their Undying Devotion to Fleetwood Mac
The band will be feted at the Musicares Person of the Year concert, which kicks off Grammy weekend.
By Ariana Brockington
The group Fleetwood Mac will be honored as MusiCares’ Person of the Year on Friday night in what has become a tentpole event on Grammy week. And it’s no wonder: an all-star tribute concert is planned which includes performances by Keith Urban, Lorde, Haim, Harry Styles, John Legend, Imagine Dragons and OneRepublic, among others.
“It was an honor that we are even on the radar of Fleetwood Mac,” OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder tells Variety. “I grew up listening to Fleetwood Mac, as presumably one out of every two people did. This is just as cool as it gets really.”
“You definitely want to do them right,” adds Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds, who first became inspired by the legendary band — whose members include Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Christine McVie, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie — early on in his career. In fact, the song “Emma” off of Imagine Dragon’s EP “Hell and Silence,” was produced by Richard Dashut, who also collaborated with Fleetwood Mac on several albums, including “Rumours” and “Tusk.”
Says Reynolds: “He shared so many beautiful stories when we were in the studio working on that song about Fleetwood Mac, working on ‘Rumours’ and how it was so important to be organic and in-sync with each other as musicians when in the studio.”

Bill Clinton and Harry Styles Praise Fleetwood Mac, Lorde and Miley Cyrus Slay at Grammy MusiCares Concert
Tedder lists “The Chain” and “Go Your Own Way” as some of his favorite Fleetwood Mac songs and that the broader Mac canon served as the “soundtrack” to his childhood. “‘Little Lies’ was so late in the game behind all their other records, and when I was a little kid that song was a smash,” says Tedder. “I remember driving around in my school bus and singing the crap out of that song.”
Fleetwood Mac’s sound and recording style has also influenced the way Reynolds approaches his songwriting. “Whenever I listen to [their music], I feel like they’re sitting next to you and you know them,” Reynolds says. “As a songwriter, it is always my goal to write in a very personal way and to express our music in a way that feels like you know the person after hearing that song.”
Tedder has not only produced and written hits for his own band, but for other artists as well, including Beyoncé, Adele and Taylor Swift, and his contributions to Adele’s “21” and “25” and Taylor Swift’s “1989” earned him Grammy awards. Like Reynolds, Tedder also says Fleetwood Mac’s music has impacted his writing and production style.
“Fleetwood Mac inspires you to not sound like anybody else ever because they never did,” Tedder adds.
As for the support for MusiCares, Tedder cracks that being a successful recording artist demands a “severe degree of narcissism to a certain point,” and musicians need to take the time to give back. “Most of us make way too much money for writing and messing around and playing songs,” he says. “The very least we could do is raise awareness and give money back ourselves and to spend our time to raise money for things that matter that aren’t just completely selfish.”
Reynolds concurs. “I think we are a very selfish community, quite honestly, because it’s so self-focused,” he says. “So it’s really good always for musicians and artists to look outward and to give back.”
Aside from MusiCares, Reynolds and his fellow band members are heavily involved in philanthropic projects. Imagine Dragons founded the Tyler Robinson Foundation after a close friend passed away from cancer. Reynolds saysthe band has raised over $1 million dollars in the last two years for families of children diagnosed with cancer.
He also founded the Loveloud Foundation, whose goal is “to create dialogue and spark and ignite a conversation about what we can do in religious communities to change this shaming specifically with our LGBT youth.” An annual music festival is held in Utah to spread awareness about the foundation.
The MusiCares Person of the Year tribute concert takes place at Radio City Music Hall on Jan. 26.

Dedicated to all those Stevie haters round here:
"The highlight of the entire night was Nicks' ten-minute "Gold Dust Woman." In a sparkly gold shawl the singer was a captivating, bewitching presence, staring down the barrel of the camera that showed the band on two screens that flanked the stage. She flipped her hair, twirled and cast a spell on the entire room. She became the dragon, the storm and the wind she always promised to be while reminding us that there are very few who can match her presence and voice..." (Rolling Stone)

I'm not a Stevie hater.. more of a non-Stevie worshipper.
I saw GDW at the Forum 2014 and it was one of my favorite moments. I still get chills thinking about it. She was spectacular.
And I was more excited for Sisters of the Moon and that was a huge let down and very flat. So, you never know what to expect.
^^i used to love GDW live, it was among my favorites. Now I can’t stand it with that long boring drawn out ending she has been doing for the last 4 or 5 years. I was actually surprised she did it at this show but it wasn’t as long I think as it usually is live. I was happy for her that she got that good review for it instead of complaints.

I once ate Lambs brains (well almost) in France....On the menu was Cerveaux d’agneaux....I knew agneaux was lamb, so advised everyone to have the lamb.
When Pink blancmange stuff arrived, we nearly all threw up.
Except my father in law who loved it, he had at least 3 portions.....that explains a lot....

Actually here where I live there's a traditional cold cuts specialty called "coppa" made from pig's head scraps. I don't like much meat to start with so I like coppa even less, but it is a famous delicacy (for those who aren't squeamish).

sigh. the downside of being branded a "legend".... no one wants to tell you you're boring everyone. Karen should have been standing in the sidelines again giving her the 'wrap it up' signal. Not that she seems to notice it because this last tour her stories rambled on and on. Of course, Lindsey went off on his own ramble, which makes it funnier that he rolled his eyes a bit at Mick's and Stevie's acceptance speeches.

More whining from the peanut gallery. You just can't seem to help yourselves anymore. She performed an awesome version of GDW. 99% of the public loved it including the crowd in the hall. This has become her signature song over the last few years and the performance of it is always strong. And her speech was heartfelt and talking about Tom Petty was very appropriate based on his recognition the year before.

Most people here know I'm not happy with Stevie's decisions these last few years. But I'll give her her due: she's still an electric performer. And the more I hear speeches and interviews with Lindsey the more I'm inclined to understand why she feels working with him is simply too much of a pain. When I listen to the four band speeches from the Musicares event, by far the most annoying and windy one was Lindsey's. Stevie may have spoken for the longest amount of time, but she was entertaining and occasionally insightful. Meanwhile, Mick and Chris's speeches were sweet and on point for the event.
So, I guess I'm saying, I don't know why so much hatred is directed at Stevie in the form of humiliating references to animals, her weight, etc. I just don't get it. Yeah, she's annoying (as is Lindsey) and yeah her decision not to record new music with the band is appalling, but she can still turn in a powerful performance, even when her vocal range has shrunk to less than an octave.

When I went in 2014 I was amazed at how all of them at their age (John being sick). could still push out the amount of energy that they did. It was unreal. That was 4 years ago!
For some reason I don't get sick of GDW.. she did like a witchy twitchy dance that made her look crazy. It was good crazy tho... it sparked those memories of why I loved these 5 in the first place.
I'm not mad at her anymore for not wanting to do 5 member album. It breeds other opportunities. BuckVie.. Her solo tour .. people got to hear Crying in The Night. I had front row at the Greek in front of a crazy sold out crowd. etc.
I didn't mind her speech because she looked happy and was smiling and making people laugh. And Christine's speech.. uhhh hearing her voice and looking so elegant and stunning.. This footage was great for me. And I didn't have to spend $500 or $1500 (3 shows).

Yes, according to Wikipedia "The term 'head cheese' is used in North America, 'potted heid' in Scotland, 'brawn' elsewhere in Britain and Australia. The term 'souse' for the pickled variety is North American and West Indian."
That's what Google gave me when I searched for "Head cheese", I don't know if it's some kind of variation but it looked like the closest match to Coppa:

Wow, Lindsey's son looks exactly like him and his daughter looks just like her mom. Did Lindsey have a third kid as well or is that just my imagination?
Also, has anyone seen any interviews from FM at this event? I saw a few short clips but I'm dying to see more! I hate it that there are so many interviewers yet they don't post any of the interviews. Then if they do post them, they're incredibly shortened and abrupt. :distress:

They have a third daughter, Stella, who wasn't there. She's about 14.
How they've grown! I remember when I saw Stella from afar, held in her mother's arms off to the side of the stage at the Atlanta show back in 2004. I can't believe that was almost 14 years ago!

Guys come on, I've not been bothered by your Stevie bashing at all in regards to her inactivity regarding Buckingham McVie. None of you showed any interest in this event when i was posting about it, and now you have come over here just to throw ****. How many threads do you want? Seriously i love both of you but give it a ****ing rest. it's tiresome and the jokes kinda dead. We get it, point made.
The “jokes” got to me the other day, too. I make no secret that I’m annoyed and disappointed with Stevie’s decision to refuse contributing to a new FM album, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to make weight and goat jokes.
That said, I do love the BuckVie crowd and share all of their enthusiasm for the new music!

sigh. the downside of being branded a "legend".... no one wants to tell you you're boring everyone.
Exactly! Her fans think she's the best because Rolling Stones says GDW was the best performance of the night or because she got the biggest response from the audience. How many likes do you think the RS article was gonna have if they said the best performance of the night was Lindsey's or Christine's? Not as many as saying it was Stevie's. Stevie is a selling machine and everyone goes with the winning horse (or goat ). That doesn't mean she's the best.
I loved Tusk and GYOW. GDW was ok.
I don't think she gets it, or wants to get it. "I'M A STAR, and you're going to listen to my rambling". It's all about her.
If you only knew what a fan of hers that I used to be. HUGE FAN. She ruined that.
Same here. And she ruined it by trashing Lindsey and refusing to work with him, because he's "oh, so difficult!" Please! Says who?
But it got better now. Because BuckVie turned out better without her. And there's always hope for BuckVie 2. :woohoo:

Oh, I know it’s a joke, because no matter how much I try to like her again, I know it won’t happen as long as she keeps talking and talking and talking. And not just on her shows.
Let’s put it this way: last year I put myself twice on a 13 hours flight just to see BuckVie. I will do it again this year for Lindsey and for FM. I will never do it for Stevie. I can watch her 46 minutes speech on You Tube.

I love Stevie, really I do. But she's definitely used autotune A LOT. I can't even listen to parts of the Chicago soundstage stuff because it's so obvious.
It also KILLS me to hear the 24K gold album, the mastering job on that album is atrocious. On The Dealer you can clearly hear how all the different takes were pieced together - some are clear as crystal while other passages sound like they had a lead blanket over the mic. Sounds worse than Say You Will!..but I digress. That's a whole other can of worms.

Lindsey looked so unhappy and tense in a lot of photos from that event. My best guess is he got yelled at and lectured by Mick before they stepped foot in front of the reporters. Stevie was most likely trying to make LB feel secure by squeezing his arm like that. Gotta keep the man happy lest he storms out and ditches the event.

yeah he did on that red carpet, definitely. at the time i ascribed it to his regular "serious" face he pulls for every photo, but knowing what we know now, it's pretty obvious he had a feeling something is cooking.
i think he was pissed at Mick and Stevie because they didn't want to work with him to accommodate his solo needs while he would always bend over backwards for band's needs... as he did in this case too - trying to find solutions that could work for everyone since they first told him they wouldn't postpone the FM tour for 2 months so he can fit in his solo dates. maybe he found out from Mick that nobody has ran the concurrent tours option by Stevie because they were afraid she'd go ballistic? whatever it was it looks like he knew they didn't want to compromise to find the workable solution. turns out he didn't know the half of it!
are you saying Stevie was hanging all over his arm to try and lull him into false security so she can kick him even harder when she pushed him down right after the event?
what do you think they did to him that would make him storm out? i mean he obviously flew in with his family to be at the event. why storm out?

Misogyny. A woman doesn’t need a family to feel accomplished in life.
Haven’t been here in some time, I see it’s the same 4-5 people saying the same things.
Misogyny. A woman doesn’t need a family to feel accomplished in life.
there is plenty of misogyny going around. false labeling of fair points that have nothing to do with it as misogyny, just because the person someone talks about is a woman, is not helpful. it just muddies the issue.
Stevie Nicks has said plenty of times, over and over, that she regrets not having kids. this is not something fans ascribe to her. she has talked about her lost klonopin decade as her last chance to finally have a kid.
and - of course a woman doesn't need a partner or kids to be accomplished. and plenty of women do. just this specific woman seems to be talking a lot about how much she missed by not having a family. maybe she's just bsing, i can't know that, but she talked about it plenty.
let's stay close - in FM. why is nobody saying that Christine is jealous of families that others in FM have? because she is so obviously not! because she has never talked about missing out by not having kids. seems pretty obvious Christine Perfect McVie not just is incredibly accomplished but also owns and is happy with choices she made in life.
looking through this thread, which was written almost entirely before we knew about the Lindsey ouster (first i heard about it was Feb 8), it is pretty clear that this fandom was just as divided before it happened. and that Lindsey-hate among the chiff-cult was alive and well for a long time and didn't start with Musicares.

I agree with you, and it has been perpetuated by Stevie for years. Her on again/off again, hatred/love of Lindsey, has been top of her topics for discussion for years. Anyone who was sucked into it, has had a mad-on for him for all that time as well.
As much as I always loved her, I still loved him and the band just as much, so I tended to just roll my eyes at her comments.
But now, she crossed the line and her behavior has been cunning, cruel, and bullying, along with Mick who seems to just stupidly follow the all-mighty dollar.
I didn't like bullies as a child, and I don't like them now. I have gone back and watched Destiny Rules a number of times since this happened, and I still stand by the fact that I think Lindsey was patient, gentle, yet direct with his comments. He did not strike me as a bully, and she struck me as a defensive, immature, spoiled brat. She's really the passive aggressive bully, or victim/bully definition. Chiff-heads will be exploding right now, but that's how I saw it.

I love strong women and I don't think a woman needs to complete herself to have kids. In fact, I have always respected Stevie (because I'm gay and don't have kids and had aspirations to be on stage) for following her career.
I do however think she is jealous because LB did something she couldn't do. And, he made an album with Christine and it was delightful for all 4 members.. (guess he's not such a monster after all)
If you look at the way these two woman act. Both are divorced without kids. But one is very bitter and angry and the other classy and humble. That's not misogyny. Please don't overuse that word. Let it be used for women in this world that need it and deserve it.
I truly hope $tevie apologizes to Lindsey and family for her little nasty stunt. And then furthering the embarrassment by going on National TV and saying it was his own fault he was fired. $he said that with a straight face knowing that not one of them was decent enough to pick up the phone and say, "hey, I'm upset about XXXX, let's talk." The more I learn about it through different channels, the more it sickens me.

Misogyny. A woman doesn’t need a family to feel accomplished in life.
Haven’t been here in some time, I see it’s the same 4-5 people saying the same things.
How many times must we say it? It's not about her being a WOMAN. It's about a person be it MAN OR WOMAN, who is jealous because she doesn't have the beautiful family her ex has. GIVE THE MISOGYNY CRAP A REST!!!!!! I stand by my statements.

I would never mock you.
Unless you start making goat noises.
Then it's ON.
