I was really hoping for some whole band renditions instead of a Lindsey solo performance, but it's great to see them playing together, so I suppose I should be thankful for that.

Would LOVE to have seen a full performance of Trouble...

Amen! I'm probably more excited by what they DIDN'T sing as I am by what they did sing. And I would add World Turning to the list- it sounds a lot like Too Far Gone and I'd rather hear the new song anytime.

Still, as with all setlists, there are great choices and some disappointments. Got a Hold on Me would have been such a wonderful surprise, and our last opportunity to hear it live. I wonder if Christine just felt it was too slow or something?

Oh how did I forget World Turning?! I'm thrilled that one was left home this tour!!! I'm sure it will be back in full force for The Classic shows!

Agreed about Got a Hold on Me. I feel like Chris minimizes her solo stuff and her pre-75 work. If anything, she should have played that one in '87 but it was just sent to the back burner after her solo shows. I would have gotten tickets and flown to a show if they would've yanked out Why or Spare Me a Little tonight!

Okay I am finally back home from the show and I am just still buzzing! (And still soaked to the skin)

The show was fantastic! Both Christine and Lindsey exceeded whatever expectations that I had and really delivered an energetic and wonderful performance. Overall, I am really pleased with the setlist and that they didn't heavily rely on the big hits and played songs that hadn't been played in a long while. As I said before, the new songs really blend well and shine amongst the back catalog songs.

Being a fan since I can remember, my mother introduced me EARLY! I grew up with all of their albums and even had a cassette of my own of "Tango" when it came out. I have been a lurker around here for a long time and I will say this - I am a fan of ALL 5. I am a fan of the band as a whole and the individual members and their solo endeavors.

The highlights for me were definitely "Wish You Were Here" and "Red Sun".

The interactions between Lindsey and Christine were very cute and affectionate and it was really good to see that they have a very natural friendship. With the band as a whole - its always really hard to tell where they are with one another but, this seemed incredibly genuine and sweet.

I only have two, very minor things to say that would be regarded negative. First, please for the love of all that is holy - drop "You Make Loving Fun". Stevie's absence is glaring here. It wasn't obvious anywhere else but in this song. Work out the harmonies differently or get rid of it. It was rather embarassing to hear the audience filling in her harmony parts. It was awkward, clunky and strange and someone needs to tell the both of them to either fix it or chuck it. Second, the use of backing tracks and vocals was bizarre in this context. They didn't have backup singers per se but, they're needed in this space of filling in the Fleetwood Mac wall of sound.

Great show that I would encourage everyone to get out and see.

So you hold it against him that he played his one solo hit?

LB Freakazoid

It was a great show. Despite the rain! However, it wasn't as bad as the weather report predicted.
I was totally caught off guard with Trouble opening the show. Wow! It was almost like they intentionaly had more LB songs to start off so Chris could get used to the 'smaller machine' and band. They both looked relaxed and happy.
During Little Lies, SN's lines were not replaced by other vocals - almost like the space not filled... Maybe cheeky, maybe not? lol
Hold Me was a bit of a mess. The vocal harmonies were all over the place. The ending definitely closed the song on a better note (yes, pun). Isn't It Midnight would have been great.
After seeing LB on every FM tour and solo since 1980, I could do without ISA. Carnival Begin would have been a great song to do instead since it has that same vibe....
They definitely won the audience. However, I feel like they could have taken this project to another level....
Overall, great show. You should go try and see it.

yes.

he was not gonna do it on his last solo tour and had Rodeo on setlist instead. he chickened out after the setlists were printed and they scratched Rodeo and hand wrote Trouble on the setlist the first few shows.

I am soooo with you on this! I would have freaked if Save Me A Place was played! Maybe on the mext solo tour?!? One can hope.

And not to offend the Chris fans here.... However, live- her vocals are off. Brett and Neil do so much of the harmonies - they are almost the 'shadow FM' on live shows.

Just got home.

WOW, what an amazing show. I'm pretty tired so I'll just put some thoughts as bulletpoints:

- All the new songs sound great live. My favorite was Too Far Gone. Least favorite was Game of Pretend which ended the show (Christine said "it's not Songbird but it's a slow one, you'll like it). I don't really care for this one live. The arrangement is a little different than the album version.

- Christine sounded very good and Lindsey sounded the BEST I've heard him in years. It's like he got a vocal makeover somehow. I was shocked.

- Setlist was a good mix of 8 new songs and FM classics but I wish they would have done more deep cuts. Wish You Were Here was the shock song of the night for me, never thought I'd hear that one.

- Lots of sweet LnC interaction. Lindsey mentioned more than once how thankful they were for people coming to see them. They seemed to be having a ton of fun and it's obvious that they're proud of this project.

- There are backing tracks and pre-recorded vocals (especially on new songs) but in this setting it didn't really bother me.

- I was overall pleased with the setlist but the order of the songs is a little awkward. I don't think Trouble should be an opener nor should Game of Pretend be a closer.

- Lindsey did take a couple of moments to make his signature speeches. During one he called Christine "this beautiful woman" who came back to Fleetwood Mac. The words "organic" and "karmic circular" or whatever it is he loves to say also made an appearance

I highly recommend everyone on this board to attend one of these shows if you can, it's absolutely worth it. I came away feeling so very proud of them. I took clips of some of the songs including Wish You Were Here, Too Far Gone, Game of Pretend and some others that I'd be happy to link here if anyone wants to see them.

This is by far the worst set list I've ever seen! I'm so glad they don't take bets on set lists because I would've lost a ton of money assuming that if 8 songs were actually done and they were that carnival Begin had to be one of them!
Their choices for deep cuts are even worse. With Christine They literally could've picked any song off of the 5 pre 75 albums or really any song from any album other then mirage and I would've been happy. And Christine even recently said mystery to me is one of her 3 favorite Mac albums, while she's never cared for Mirage:shrug: there should never in any circumstances be more Mirage songs then Tusk songs in a any set list ever! And yes I will acknowledge its cool to get a never before played deep cut, but it's honestly the equivalent to next year trying to be excited Stevie is doing The Second Time. And actually I already felt that last year when Stevie bravely played a buckingham nicks song but it had to be the only one of the three choices I never cared for.
And Lindsey bringing Shut Us Down to the table again? What a waste. Die hards have all seen it and it's not a great live song for casual fans to need to hear.
Remember when Stevie axed Gold Dust Woman but kept Dreams in the set for the 24KG tour? Me Neither. That's basically what I'm seeing here from Lindsey on the insane idea to choose NGBA over Big Love in the acoustic set.

There's literally not one song they are doing to entice me to go to a show. And I was waiting for tonight to decide if I was gonna make a trip somewhere. So glad I didn't buy tickets first. Even simply playing Oh Daddy wouldve maybe enticed me to buy a plane ticket. I'm actually kind of thrilled this set is so bad. It saves me a lot of money.

Again I think this is a really brave set and applaud some of their choices. While I'm one of the few to have always hated Hold Me and wanted to finally hear Oh Daddy I'm glad they're finally doing the one song so many have been waiting to return. Kind of like when Sara or Sisters came back. And 8 new songs is amazing and I guess the most important aspect of this show which they delivered. Game of pretend over songbird:thumbsup: but again that's to steal from Lindsey "kind of bittersweet" that carnival begin isn't one of them.

I would like to state and it definitely matters that I'm being 100 percent objective here. I'm Not bwboy (no offense) or someone that would ever go out of their way to criticize these 2 or have some need to defend Stevie.
I am someone who has to call it like I see it and can't not point out that this is one area, Stevie is superior to her fellow rumors era songwriters in this century. Her best songwriting years are behind her, while Christine just wrote a few career best songs, but Stevie throws together a better setlist. And it goes to show even when the set seemed most redundant from 2005 to 2008, it could've been worse. She could've been playing everyday and too far from texas endlessly instead of Fall From Grace and sorcerer

I'll be incredibly disappointed with this inclusion, especially if Why or something pre 75 doesn't also pop up.
We cant have it all. Wish you were here is a Mirage classic I never dreamed I would ever hear live. C'mon how can anyone be disappointed in such a deep cut performed?

Thanks to everyone posting their reviews and live updates. Very unpredictable which is good. No Christine solo. It just shows she ALWAYS puts the band before herself. Love the setlist. You cant get everything you want. We hear NGBA and So Afraid EVERY Mac concert so I could have done without those 2.
I love the fact Christine digs deep into her classic masterpieces. When I was a kid, I would listen to Wish You Were Here and cry. The song had that impact on me. I could be wrong but I bet we see different songs at every concert. They have so much material and have shown to be spontaneous.

Thanks for all the reviews!

Surprised at Wish You Were Here, that's a big shock! Also great they're doing Hold Me.

Very disappointed we won't hear two of the best songs from the album, Carnival Begin and OWTS. Lay Down For Free I wouldn't have chosen. Nice for Christine to have a Songbird ending.

Looking forward to watching the videos later. Edit: it seems videos are being copyright striked on YouTube????

So many songs not included -

I would have bet on Don't Stop, Say You Love Me, World Turning, The Chain, Second Hand News, Big Love. LB loves Bleed to Love Her and thought that might make it. I was also assuming the two new songs left out would be Lay Down for Free and Game of Pretend. I was 99% confident that we would not hear and Christine solo or pre-75 Mac. Those eras do not seem to be her jam anymore.

I love how someone can write that they are objective in their evaluation of the set list. Ahhh...no...It is your opinion. YOU would prefer to hear other songs. So would I, especially at the encore. That doesn't make me some arbiter of all that is good and evil about the show and the voice of radio free MacLand regarding set list inclusions and exclusions.

For me it is an inspired setlist. Certainly until the encore I was fully onboard, even if I could have found a nice replacement for Shut Us Down.

Kudos to them for not just dragging out the hits, mixing the placement, and finding an unexpected way to effectively pace the show.

would love to hear Trouble never again.

Elle, I've never seen Lindsey live, so Trouble is one I was hoping he'd do this tour :sorry: But it does seem like a strange song to open the show with. I was wondering if he usually opens his solo shows with this song.

Also, are you surprised he didn't sing Holiday Road? That seems like a perfect song for a summer tour!

I think Christine deliberately did FM songs for this tour that Lindsey had played on, hence the exclusion of her pre 1975 material. Or maybe she thought anything before then wouldn't be as well known to the audience?

I agree about the pacing of the show... especially interesting to me was that Wish You Were Here was played so early. To me it always seemed like more of a closer.

Sounds like Hold Me and You Make Loving Fun might have been a bit of a mess... I hope they don't drop them, though.

I would say maybe 75% full or less. That's about the turnout I'd expect for Atlanta. Seemed like there were a lot of casual fans in attendance. I overheard a conversation between some people who didn't even know about the new album, so I don't doubt that some attendees thought it was supposed to be some kind of greatest hits tour.

They did botch the verses of Hold Me, I think it was mostly Christine's mistake.

Why does everyone keep saying they messed up Hold Me? Other than that girl singing over the entire video, it sounds fine. They look like they had a great time singing it and it got a great response as well.

I'm glad Hold Me got the official live treatment! Also "Wish You Were Here" sounds beautiful.

I'm hoping maybe these reissues but some new live ideas in their heads. Maybe Isn't it Midnight will be in the FM set.

The only way a BuckVie song gets into the Mac set is if Stand Back comes back. As for two BuckVie songs...Stand Back AND the Gypsy story will go an hour!

Hold Me sounded great but yes, Chris sang a few words wrong (I think...it was momentarily wonky sounding).. This stuff happens especially at the first show. No way do I see them dropping it - seemed to get a great crowd reaction!!

I'm a bit disappointed that, like the album, there's a sort of a feel that this is Lindsey Buckingham featuring special guest Christine McVie. Far too much Lindsey right out of the gate. Why not confirm that ths is to support their work TOGETHER by opening with some rollicking song they do TOGETHER off this album? I agree that Trouble solo (not the band version) is a terrible opener. Shut Us Down another bad choice. Not sure I get the inclusion of Tusk.... other Lindsey/Chris stuff better-- like Think About Me. I get that they want an upbeat song in this slot, but TAM def would work here.

The inclusion of I'm So Afraid by definition means they won't do Carnival Begin because come on, they're so much alike. Which begs the question, wtf not do CB??? It totally promotes the new album AND still gives Lindsey the big solo. I mean, how many more copies of the white album are they gonna sell with people who don't have ISA??

I count 9 LB songs and 7 Chris. I get the feeling that Chris isn't accorded the same ranking in the hierarchy as LB. You know dam well Stevie's people would insist on nothing less than 50-50 split (if they couldn't get 60-40).

The only time I felt the show was LB-dominant was during the opener. The rest of the show was a good mix of both their songs and seemed like Buckingham McVie to me. Christine is not a "Look At Me" type of performer who craves the spotlight, so I think she's totally fine.

The Band:

Lindsey Buckingham: Guitars, Vocals
Christine McVie: Keyboards, Accordian, Vocals
Neale Heywood: Guitars, Vocals
Jimmy Paxson: Drums
Federico Pol: Bass
Brett Tuggle: Guitars, Keyboards, Vocals

Braved the weather to catch opening night of the tour to promote the new album with 8 out of the 10 songs being played. The songs do have a little more edge to them live. Will be interesting to see if the other two get played down the line. I was surprised On With The Show wasn't played and then a little bummed Christine didn't do Songbird since it wasn't performed when FM played Atlanta last.

Lindsey and Christine came out and performed the 1st 3 songs together and then the band joins them for the rest of the set. Lindsey is Lindsey... great as always - and I thought Christine sounded great too. My friends that went with me disagreed and thought she sounded a little off.

Enjoy.

No, Shut was solo. It was just the two of them for the first FOUR songs, then the band joined. But she wasn't doing much on his songs.
And Wish You Were Here... the piano intro was gone. Lindsey really carried the song on guitar. After recycling it for Silver Springs, our guess was that people would think they were doing SS, if she'd re recycled it for WYWH.

but the whole song is built around her singing at her piano-- in much the same way as Songbird and Game of Pretend. The piano is the central musical piece.

Does she not have the strength in her hands to play a whole show anymore?? Is he just retooling everything to his liking?? what's going on with some of this stuff-- she seems not to be playing on a lot of things. Mitchell Froom did the keyboards on a lot of stuff on the album-- is she just not playing any of those parts?

Well again. WYWH intro was stolen, and made the new Silver Springs intro, which is a much more well known song. So playing that part would have confused the F out of casual fans.

About her ability, I was wondering the same. Really, Hold Me and Game of Pretend were the only songs where you actually heard her playing a distinct part.

And the "tracks" were painfully obvious. There were TONS of harmony vocals all night long, that nobody was singing. :(

well ok, so don't do the intro. But that shouldn't mean the piano not being the main foundation of the song-- the previous comment said LB carried the song on guitar which implies the WHOLE song.:distress:

Maybe they were just mixing her keys too low, but the guitar was far more prominent. Didn't sound like she was playing the 1/4 note chords. Maybe just organ chords... Zzzz...

They are relying FAR TOO MUCH on the tracks.

She had problems with her hand a couple of years ago- I wonder whether that's a factor in her piano playing (or lack of). I've noticed in interviews she has an odd tendency to brush hair out of her face with her two middle fingers crossed over. I didn't want to speculate... but I have an idea in my head of what her problem may be.

yet her playing looked fine in the 'making of' documentary footage

I'm disappointed that they left out their duet songs, "Don't Stop" and "World Turning", but perhaps they would have sounded odd without the rest of the Mac. I know on the latter, Lindsey has been doing some weird stuff on it on the past couple of tour with sound effects so perhaps it's a mercy that if was left off if that trend was going to continue. Still, I very much miss the former, which is a favorite.

I appreciate that there's so much new material although like others, I would have chosen to include the two that were omitted in the place of some of the ones that were chosen. Still, it's very brave of them to do almost the entire album.

I'm glad I took a peek at the setlist so I know what to expect.

I NEVER thought we would see Big Love go, and while on the one hand I've gotten a bit weary of it, on the other hand it's loads better than Shut Us Down so I feel we've traded down a bit.

I'm every excited to hear Hold Me and Little Lies!

One more question, although I fear I know the answer... on Never Going Back Again.... is Lindsey doing it fast and lovely, or excruciatingly slow with that ridiculous part where he holds a note until people applaud?

Regardless, I'm sure the shows will be an entertaining and novel experience, and I'm looking forward to the ones I'm attending!

Yes, but we didn't exactly see a lot. Also, her playing was pretty much fine when she did Songbird on both BBC Radio 2 and BBC 1's 'One Show'. However, if you have any sort of pain you can often grit your teeth and manage to get through it over a short period but not manage over an extended period of time. Who knows... it was just a thought I had.

During the OWTS tour they cancelled a couple of dates if I recall due to a hand injury.

Back in 2015 they dropped Songbird for a bit when C stumbled coming down aeroplane stairs:

http://www.theherald.com.au/story/2985826/mcvie-ends-the-silence/

'At the moment I have a torn ligament in my little finger," she says. "I can't do it. I did it coming down the steps of an airplane, I crooked my finger the wrong way on a handrail.

"It's not broken. We've just dropped Songbird for the moment."

I do recall reading somewhere that she has arthritis. Wish I had saved the direct source. Sorry I don't have it handy. But in regards to her hand injury, in one of the On With the show press pieces, it was said that she had a de-planing accident.

I knew she was supposed to have had an accident and I remember the de-planing comment now you mention it. I remember at the time not really understanding what it meant. I thought de-planing was a technical medical term for something.

My guess was she is arthritic...but that was just a guess and not based on anything.

It seemed like the slowest version of the song that I've ever heard. Even slower than it's been on the past couple FM tours.

That's silly. He's only got one. He should play it. Regardless of what I'd like to hear. Its not even one I have any particular fondness for.

Holiday Road is a hit, though I'm not in favor of him doing that one.
