At Newark, Stevie dedicated Landslide to Mathew Anderson, son of Kim Anderson. I think she also dedicated it to someone else that she called her adopted child. Does anyone remember what she said? I haven't found a video of it yet.
It was a great show. She didn't do a band intro last night. I think the last time I saw her she did one.

Such an amazing show! She also dedicated Landslide to Tavi Gevinson, with whom she's developed a very close bond.

Thanks. I did not know who Tavi Gevinson was. I just found this article in Rolling Stone. I could see why she dedicated "Landslide" to her. It was a night about girl power.

She has a Ted Talk, where she mentions Stevie in a pretty significant way. :) https://www.ted.com/talks/tavi_gevinson_a_teen_just_trying_to_figure_it_out

Interesting that she didn't do the band intro, I wonder why? I don't think she did them at Indianapolis or Pittsburgh but that's probably due to them being the filmed shows.

The last notes of Landslide wrapped at a few minutes after 11, already passed the typical curfew. So no time. Prior to Sunday, the last show I saw 4 months ago was a bit more manageable for time. Her stories have gone epically long. I enjoy her stories and spontaneity while giving them, but she has completely lost control of time management during the show. I was skeptical if they were going to even play Landslide given that Rhiannon finished at like 1057.
Having said that, it was a really great show. GDW was amazing!

Has there actually been anything spontaneous about Stevie in the last 20 years?

I'd say this tour and all that it entails is the very definition of spontaneity.

Another trollish comment, but I will play, even though the definition of spontaneity will no doubt be argued as another way to be negative.
-Her decision to record In Your Dreams after 10 years.
-Her decision to agree to record 24 Karat Gold in months rather than the year she typically takes
-Releasing the original Touched by an Angel demo in response to the Orlando tragedy
-This 24 KG tour

I guess you're right about that, from all those off-the-cuff song intros to the late night club shows she's been secretly performing, Stevie is the personification of spontaneity.

I don't know that there was an invitation "to play" - that could be a case of misinterpretation and arrogance on your part - but you really got me there with all those irrefutable examples of impulsive, gay abandon:
- Only taking 10 years to make that all important decision to record another album (that 18 months to record/release the album just flew by in an inspirational moment).
- The whirlwind recording sessions for 24KG regurgitating ancient demos, not to mention those weeks of pesky post-production, did wonders in restoring Stevie to her rightful place within the music industry - the album is a timeless classic ...and to think, it only took a little over 2 years to tour that album. If you blink, Stevie will turn the tables on you in rapid succession...
- Issuing the Touched By An Angel demo was a wonderfully inspired, altruistic act that absolutely, categorically did not exploit the Orlando tragedy in any way. Good ol' Stevie loves to rally around in times of need, just ask all those wounded soldiers she gave birth to and then gifted with iPods...
There is nothing contrived, rehearsed or fraudulent about our Stevie - we must all remember that.

As I said, the definition of spontaneity would just be argued. There is no way to answer your question to any satisfaction but I decided to play anyway because all of the things I posted were things fans were not expecting to happen, but they did happen, which to me proves me she does do spontaneous things.

Never in a million years did I think a 24 Karat Gold Tour would happen. I was extremely excited when it was announced. I'd also like to mention that I wasn't expecting the Bella Donna and The Wild Heart resissues either.

I really meant with respect to the delivery of the stories in this particular tour and lets say the 2013-2015 FM tour. She tells her stories off the cuff and not from some prepared script in her head that she repeats night after night after night. You know the general gist of what she will say but there's always something a little different each performance. I personally enjoy that aspect when going to more than 1 show per tour.
But to each his own. We all have different expectations and baselines to compare against. While I can understand fans attending shows in the 70s heyday consider current day performances very subpar, those of us who were far too young or not even around, appreciate the chance to get to still see her live. And we have the luxury of having older footage as well to relish.

Phil, I just clicked your profile and read so many negative comments, I had to stop reading them, Pages upon pages of them. We get it. You think Stevie is not a relevant artist any longer. You think she's not spontaneous.
You have every right to express your opinion, as do others that still enjoy Stevie and have positive things to say.
I guess I don't understand the need to constantly post negativity.
Come in, out of the darkness.:wavey:
