Oh. So I guess that pretty much confirms the tour is off until next year then?
'The coast shows are the only dates Fleetwood Mac has scheduled for 2017, says a source'
I hope this doesn't include reference to Buckingham-McVie.
It's going to take more than this to make me believe it.
Representatives for Eagles and Fleetwood Mac did not immediately reply to requests for comment.
No confirmation from Don H = I still think it's unlikely to happen.
I shudder to think what the ticket price would be.

i can see fleetwood mac getting together to play the oldies for for a pay check but if the Eagles do it it's would be disrespectful ( for a lack of a kinder word )
Don Henley says the Eagles are done. It was always Glenn Frey’s band.

Don has been waffling on this. In September he said he was open to touring if Glenn's son would join the band. 2 months later he walked back the comment. It tells me people are throwing money at them to tour one more time.
I actually hope the big tour is delayed one year. That would give time to Buckhingham/MvVie to hit the road. I always believed that Buckhingham/McVie would not tour because there was not time to do so. I don't seen them scrambling doing a short tour to run and join a huge tour. It sucks the tour already missed the 40th anniversary of the release of Rumours but I would LOVE a year of Buckhingham/McVie before the monster farewell tour. This miracle of an album happened. Lets not release it and then not properly promote it. I want to soak up every minute. And yes I am hoping for a tour.
The article mentions 2 stadium festival dates. I don't see either band touring around such a festival.

Mark my words, Buckingham McVie will not tour.
How could they tour with Mick and John and not call themselves Fleetwood Mac?
And if they did tour without Mick and John, who would they hire to be their rhythm section? They could have the best rhythm section in the world but if they did, imagine the controversy. It would be mini Mac. Stevie would not be happy.

I agree its hard to go on without Glenn Frey. Can you imagine if Don Felder came back for the tour though? That is the only way I see them going on. Then again, Fleetwood Mac went on without Lindsey and NO ONE thought that was possible. The Mac even rolled on without Christine.
If the big final Mac tour is pushed til next year I think its a real possibility of a Buckhingham/McVie tour. And if it happens, I am prepared to spend $1000 for a front row seat :)

I agree, they'd have to bring Felder back to even call it the Eagles at this point. Henley, Walsh, and Schmit just wouldn't be the Eagles. Sure, you can get away with touring with a line-up of unknowns if you're the Vogues, but not the Eagles, or the Mac for that matter. I thought bringing in Jackson Browne for the Grammies performance was a good idea - he was around them a lot during the early years, and would be a suitable replacement for Frey - but they didn't sound great. I'm sure some more rehearsing would resolve that.
Curious to see if this rumor is true...

This would be incredible, and with Bernie Leadon already touring with them, I think it would be the only thing that would make it anywhere close to the Eagles without Glenn Frey.

Yeah, Leadon/Felder/Henley/Walsh/Schmit could pass as the Eagles, IMO. It's too bad Randy Meissner is apparently in bad shape these days and can't join in them. Not sure what a band would do with two bass players, though.

It's not need it 's greed.
And Jackson wrote Take It Easy with Glenn... actually it was Jackson's song and Glenn came in and helped him write some lyrics to it.
It's money greed but it seems like it's also bragging rights kind of greed. A way to show that you are still relevant and still on the A list bringing in big bucks and filling venues and have not faded away into the "whatever happened to....?" file. That's a very big thing for Stevie for sure.
I guess after recent years I shouldn't be, but I'm still surprised Lindsey goes in for this sort of stuff. He really seems to have accepted the "play the game" when you have to approach..... helps if you've got a bunch of kids and a wife's business and equestrian habits to support. They talked about the Eagles/Fleetwood Mac shows today on Sirius-XM Classic rewind today. While Felder coming back to the Eagles would be pipe dream come true, it would probably never happen. Unlike when Lindsey or Christine left.....they just left. Felder was bought out of the Eagles since most of their most famous songs were created by Felder. The settlement is secret but rumors swirled that Felder got close to a 100 million pay day. Although not all at once of course. Every time the Eagles tour they pay him a percentage if they play key songs, etc. Walsh and Felder don't have issues but Henley and Felder have major issues and it is unlikely this reunion would ever happen. To quote a former Eagles tour "When hell freezes over."
There would be to much legal wrangling for it to happen. Felder gets paid if he does not even tour but they do his songs. So its really a strange situation.

Not to start a big Eagles debate here, but I don't think that's remotely true. I appreciate what Felder brought to the band - he's a world-class rock guitarist - but the only widely-known songs he's even partially credited with writing are Hotel California and Victim of Love. Granted, HC is probably their signature tune, but even Felder admits that Henley wrote most of its lyrics.
They had 18 Top 40 hits, and Felder co-wrote one of 'em. Victim of Love, while a great track, wasn't released as a single, even. The vast majority of their hits were Henley/Frey compositions. I don't think that's in dispute.

HC - while the lyrics are good, they'd have been nothing without the music, which was Felder. It's a fairly unusual chord progression, and makes the song what it is.
He was never really a songwriter. That wasn't his place in the band. So that's kind of like slamming Mick or John, because they're not songwriters. He was brought in before Joe Walsh, when they were trying to lose their "country" sound, and he did just that. I'm a huge fan of his playing, and always thought his solos were far more interesting than Joe's "generic" solos.

Everyone always focuses on lyrics, but great lyrics with crappy music/chord progressions/riffs won't get you a hit song. Henley's a great lyricist but not as strong writing the music-- he's a lot like Stevie in that regard. In his solo work he relied on Danny Kortchmar among others to carry the musical load just as he relied on others within the Eagles. Without the music he'd just have a bunch of poetry notebooks full of stuff no one would ever hear.

The Eagles performing again is up to Don Henley with Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit aboard. How do you perform Glenn Frey's songs with him deceased?
Eagles' standards featuring Frey on vocals:
"Take It Easy"
"Peaceful Easy Feeling"
"Tequila Sunrise"
"Already Gone"
"Lyin Eyes"
"Take It to the Limit"
"New Kid in Town"
"Heartache Tonight"
Walsh has performed "Take It to the Limit" at his 2016 concerts. Henley has sung harmony on "Lyin Eyes" and "New Kid in Town."

and Take It Easy is as much of a Jackson Browne song as it is a Glenn Frey song and Browne routinely performs it solo.... although if Jackson Browne was with the Eagles as a part of these festivals they would have advertised so.

To be fair, this isn't exactly a Frey song...he took over singing it when Randy Meisner (I believe) stopped singing it for whatever reason he had at the time. He just didn't want to do it every night, so Glenn took over. The History of the Eagles is very interesting if anyone hasn't watched it. It even includes a very condensed look at how Felder got screwed over! Which is a real shame.

I don't think(not certain) that Glenn did it until after Meisner left the band, at the end? of the HC tour. And even then, I don't think Glenn did it until the past 20 years(god, that makes me feel old, writing that).
But yes, I've read that Meisner didn't like doing it, that he was afraid of the super high notes at the end, that he wouldn't be able to hit them.

There's no way they'd ever bring back Felder. Everyone is saying how disrespectful it is to tour without Glenn, well it'd be 10x worse to his memory to play with Felder. They have Steuart Smith. They don't need Felder. Use Jackson Browne or Glenn's son or J.D. Souther. They also can include Bernie like they did for the last tour. Heck, let Henley sing Glenn's songs. Works for me.

I have a love hate thing re Felder. I agree that he was not treated very well by Fry and Henley over the years but where I take issue with him is this. He sued them and got a settlement and yet he won't gracefully take the high road.
First I heard stories that he has rountinely signed dvd's for fans from the Farewell One tour of which he was not even a part of.
Secondly he stirs the pot overnot being invited to the Grammy's to honour Glenn. Glenn and him were not on speaking terms and had not been for some time so why the hell would you think Glenn, his family or the Eagles members would want you there on stage???
Thirdly he creates a petition to the Kennedy Center Honors to get him, Bernie, and Randy included. While I agree that Bernie and Randy should have been included as they were original members what he did was low. You were fired. You sued. You got a nice chunk of money. Move on.
He is an amazing guitarist but he acts like a spoiled child.

Put yourself in his shoes...
He was the last person to join the band, to be made a PARTNER in the band. An OWNER. Joe and Timothy were never offered that(the machine was getting too big, by the time they came along).
So Bernie and Randy quit, which meant that Frey, Felder, and Henley were ~now~ the three sole owners of the band. 1/3 each.
Now, there's no denying that Frey and Henley were the two principles in the band, since they were both the singers and primary songwriters. BUT, let's call a spade a spade. Felder owned his 1/3 of the band, and rightly deserved his 1/3 of the profits. Because that was legally the deal.
And greed took over, and Frey and Henley wanted more. I agree that they're the more popular ones, and maybe Felder should have given in. Probably in hindsight, he wishes that he had given in. But he certainly didn't have to, and I'm not sure if I'd want to give into their greed, and give up what was legally mine...
Also, back in the day, touring revenue had always been split 20% for each of the 5 members. Later, Henley and Frey wanted Felder, Walsh and Schmidt knocked down to 10% of the profits. 10% of a Gazillion dollars is still a sh*t ton of money, but he didn't want to back down, even demanding to see the books. Timothy called him, and told him he should sign the "10%" deal, but he wasn't having it. That's why they fired him.

I agree about lyrics being secondary to the music... although HC does have some memorable lyrics, to Henley's credit ("You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave" has gotta be up there somewhere among rock's most memorable final lines in a song!). My point was that even if you give 100% credit to Felder for HC - which would be unfair to Henley - to say "most of their most famous songs were created by Felder" is still a big oversell of Felder's contributions. "Co-created"? OK, sure, as his guitar work is essential in many of their memorable tunes. But to imply that Felder was the creative driving force in the band goes against what has been documented about their history for decades.
Still, he was given 1/5 ownership of the Eagles, and shouldn't have been treated like he was. But I don't think any of the players in that drama were blameless...

I totally agree. My issue though is that he took the settlement and yet continues to bitch and moan. I agree they screwed him big time but you can't take the money and then expect to me let back in the band. I always thought Henley and Fry were great songwriters and muscians but as people they sucked big time. Very hypocritcial considering they bitch and moan about corporate greed etc and then their tickets are priced so the very people they despise are the majority of the purchasers. 1,000 bucks for 1 front row ticket.
One thing I find amusing though is in the documentary Glenn's reasoning for wanting more money on the HFO tour was because he and Don filled stadiums and arena's when the Eagles were broken up.
Well that is mostly true ( Frey fails to mention that he was the Opening act for Tina Turner in 85-86 if I have the years correct) and that by 93-94 he was not a big draw and if he were to have toured solo it wouldn't have been arenas he would have played but likley small theaters.
Their Ego's were soo big I don't know how anyone could put up with them.

Glenn was never the draw that Henley was. When they disbanded, even though Glenn was the Eagles leader, Henley was the one whose solo star shined brightly. His songs exuded class, while Glenn was putting out The Heat Is On(vomit!).

I love Glenn Frey but some of his solo singles were just so cheezy. The heat is on was one of them. You belong to the city is another. But the one that makes me cringe is "The one that you love." It reminds me of being a child waiting in the dentist chair waiting to get my teeth drilled with some cheezy bad adult contemporary station plugged into the office. I lay there thinking....this is NOT relaxing me  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wb5OOAU4Duc
I can take Smugglers Blues but not much else. But of course Glenn was a brilliant song writer and producer.

I'm not the biggest Henley fan in the world, but "Boys of Summer" is aces in my book. An atmospheric song with those wistful lyrics, perfectly juxtaposed with the music. "The Heat is On" is bleh.
I love Boys of Summer and The Heat is On! Henley's best solo effort IMO is Boys. And The Heat is On is totally mid-80's cheese but I like it nonetheless! It's catchy in the cheesiest of ways.

Truth is stranger than fiction. You guys will not believe this. I was off from work today and went to the dentist. On the way home after the dentist I stopped at Smoothie King. In the parking lot as I enjoyed my smoothie in my car I checked the headlines on my phone. I came here to the ledge to see the updates on this forum and guess what song came on the radio? You got it.... "Boys of Summer" as I am reading about Boys of Summer. You cant make this stuff up. I swear it on my Stevie Wild Heart cape.
Boys of summer is one of the best songs of the 80's. In fact I would also agree that Building the Perfect Beast is also one of the best albums of the 80's. Lindsey played on that album which made it even better.

Don Henley had some great songs on his solo albums:
End of the Innocence, Boys of Summer, Last Worthless Evening.
Glenn's solo career was embarrassing, and not even close to the level of his songs with the Eagles.
I'm curious about the other bands they say will be added to the lineup for these shows.
I saw the Eagles on The Long Run tour and they were unbelievably great.

That is an interesting thing to consider. If this is supposed to be bands like FM/Eagles, what are the other California/70s rock groups and artists still out there? I'm sure Jackson Browne would be considered for a slot, but who else is left? Or will this be about finding groups that are more contemporary and similar in style? I could go for either. Though dubbing it "Classic East/West" makes me think it's an oldies kind of show.

Boston has resurfaced ,They are touring with Joan Jett, and Hall and Oats ( touring with with not a 70's group ,Tears for Fears ) I'm sure there will be other odd pairings like Stevie and the Pretenders to Fill arena and shed this summer and there are so many 70's groups with some original members out there STYX , Journey Cheap Trick , and I think there is a version of FOGHAT ( the only original member is the 2nd Drummer :distress: ) still out there

Agree completely. BTPB is pretty much a perfect album, like Rumours. I was obsessed with it for a couple of years, when it came out.
And to someone else's post, yes, Glenn's solo career was very embarrassing. When the Eagles reconvened, it was PAINFULLY obvious who the star was...
Hint- it wasn't Glenn.

I don't care enough to listen to Glenn Frey (rip) music, so was it embarrassing in that it wasn't good or was it embarrassing in that it didn't sell as well as Don's? If the latter, then technically, you could say the same thing about Lindsey compared to Stevie when FM got back together. Or even Christine compared to Stevie.

NOTHING to do with sales. I'm the last guy to care about that. Stevie is by far my least favorite in FM, so there goes that argument.

Agree wholeheartedly about Building the Perfect Beast. Boys of Summer is maybe my favorite song of the decade... it's def top three with Don't Dream It's Over and Every Breath You Take. I love the Mac's 80s work, but none of it quite rose to the level of those songs, IMO... but Countdown is probably my favorite song of the 90s!
The awesomeness of BTPB made The End of the Innocence one of the bigger musical disappointments I can recall. It's okay, but it's best song could barely compare to BTPB's worst. If these concerts do happen, I'd love to see Henley and LB perform a song or two together!

Journey, Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers to Join Eagles + Fleetwood Mac at Classic East and West Festivals

Eagles and Fleetwood Mac will headline a pair of new music festivals to take place on the east and west coasts this summer. Journey, the Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan and Earth, Wind & Fire will also perform at both events.
According to Billboard, the Classic West festival will take place July 15 and 16 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, with Classic East set for July 29 and 30 at Citi Field in New York City. On both weekends, The Eagles will headline Friday night with support from the Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan, while Journey and Earth, Wind & Fire will open for Fleetwood Mac on Saturday.
According to Billboard, “A number of big-time music companies are involved in the blockbuster concert concept including Azoff MSG Entertainment, Live Nation, the Oak View Group and CAA.” It is hoped that this will become an annual event. Ticket prices and on-sale dates for the festivals have yet to be announced.
Organizers undoubtedly saw the money taken in last year by last year’s two-weekend Desert Trip festival, which featured performances by some of classic rock’s biggest names, including the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Roger Waters and the Who.
This will be the Eagles’ first live performance since the death of co-founder Glenn Frey in January 2016. Don Henley, the only original member left in the band these days, previously said the Eagles were breaking up following Frey’s death. But the Eagles have broken up before, and that didn’t stick either.
Billboard notes these are the only concerts on Fleetwood Mac’s schedule for this year. A new album by the band was supposedly put on hold while Stevie Nicks tended to her solo career. Lindsey Buckinghman and Christine McVie, in the meantime, had announced a duets album that featured performances by the group’s other two members, drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie.

If Frey was still around, I'd put the Eagles up against pretty much any of those Desert acts. The Mac is big of course but not in that realm.
But Frey's gone... This will be like if McCartney had Ringo with him and called it a Beatles show.

I personally disagree, I don't think the Eagles are at all in the same realm as the Stones or any of those bands. In terms of great bands I think Eagles are on pretty much the same tier as FM, Heartbreakers maybe in similar tier as well.
But the thing win the Eagles is that although they sold well, they're pretty heavily criticized especially in more recent years for not really growing at all musically. And of course that scene in Big Lebowski kind of kickstarted the "I hate the Eagles" thing.

Glenn Frey's solo career had some good songs (I really like The Heat is on and Smugglers Blues) but he had more crap then really good songs. The two that I feel were awful were "The One You Love" and "Livin Right" but Soul Searchin, The Allnighter, and Love in the 21st Century were pretty bad. I would even say that Joe Walsh's solo work and James Gang material was much better then most of Glenn's solo output.
Don's solo work is pretty solid. I loved Boys of Summer. It is one of my all time favorite songs.
As for the newley announced acts I am underwhelmed. NONE of these acts could fill a major stadium on their own and if it were not for the endless oldies package tours some of them have done over the years they would be playing state fairs and casinos for less then 1,000 people in most cases. That doesn't mean I am not a big fan of these acts (I love the Doobie Brothers) but this lineup pales in comparison to Desert Fest.

I'd put Eagles at the same level as FM and The Who. In terms of legendary status then Bob Dylan wins hands down. However, as in-demand live entities that people would pay good money to want to see I'd put Eagles and Mac above Dylan, Young and Waters and probably even above The Who as well. They still don't come close to competing with the Stones or McCartney. Overall as a package though, the current East/West coast line ups come across as very, very lightweight when compared to the Desert shows. If they added The Boss, Stevie Wonder and Led Zep then it would be a different matter. Then add David Gilmour and Nick Mason (edit: with Roger Waters)...wow

Seeing the rest of the lineup, I'll wait for the next FM tour. I got to see the Eagles 3 times w/Frey...that was enough. No need for Don Henley and friends. As for the groups not selling out stadiums alone, I feel like even with all of these groups together it won't be a sell out. How many people are dying to see Steely Dan and Earth, Wind & Fire ahead of the almost Eagles and FM?

yeah it's interesting what you said about Dylan - and so accurate. he's definitely a huge huge legend and widely respected. yet he barely fills arenas and definitely can't sell them out (of course there's a reason for it, he's crap live). Mac sells out same arenas 3 times that Dylan can't once, even with a solid opening act.

What happened was after the Doobie Brothers did a farewell tour in 82-83 they packed it in. At that time Pat Simmons was the only original member left. Michael Macdonald was in the band still.
Then in 87 Keith Knudsen successfully battled and won his drug addictions and wanted to give back someway so he organized a one off charity event for Vietnam Veterans since he was active in the Vietnam Veterans Organization. This was a concert where EVERY member of the Doobie Brothers (both past and present) returned for a one off show. The show was so successful they did a mini tour of shows for this cause.
The successful 1987 reunion sparked discussions about reconstituting the band on a permanent basis. They eventually decided to replicate the Toulouse Street/Captain and Me incarnation, settling on a lineup featuring Johnston, Simmons, Hartman, Porter and Hossack, plus more recent addition LaKind, and released Cycles on Capitol Records in 1989. The album featured a Top 10 single, "The Doctor", which showcased Johnston's unmistakable voice and soaring lead guitar and reminded listeners of the band's pre-McDonald heyday and triumph, which was natural given the line-up of the band at this time. The song is very similar to "China Grove," and the connection was further enhanced by guest Bill Payne's tinkling piano. There was more strong material on the album, including Johnston's "South of the Border", Dale Ockerman's and Pat Simmons' "Take Me To The Highway", and "I Can Read Your Mind", a great version of the Isley Brothers' "Need A Little Taste Of Love", and a version of The Four Tops classic, "One Chain (Don't Make No Prison"), which had been covered by Santana years before. Cycles proved a successful, strong and very solid comeback album and was certified Gold. Bumpus participated in the 1989 and 1990 tours, adding his distinctive voice, keyboards, saxophone and flute to the proceedings. His presence bridged the gap between the current band and the McDonald era; he sang lead vocals on the song "One Step Closer" (as he originally had on the 1980 album) while Simmons took McDonald's part. The group was further augmented on the 1989 tour by Dale Ockerman (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals), Richard Bryant (percussion, vocals) and Jimi Fox (percussion, backing vocals). After being diagnosed with terminal colon cancer, LaKind stepped down before the tour.
The success of Cycles led to the release of 1991's Brotherhood, also on Capitol. The group members grew their hair back out, wore denim and leather, and attempted to revive their biker image of the early 1970s. In spite of the makeover and strong material led by Simmons' now trademark "Dangerous" (featured in the Brian Bosworth biker film vehicle, Stone Cold), Brotherhood was unsuccessful, in part due to a lack of support on the part of Capitol Records.
The accompanying tour (with the 1989 line-up sans Bumpus) was ranked among the ten least profitable tours of the disappointing 1991 summer season by the North American Concert Promoters Association.[14]
The 1987 Doobie Brothers alumni band reunited on October 17 and 19, 1992 at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, California to perform benefit shows for LaKind's children. LaKind, who was terminally ill with colon cancer and noticeably frail, nevertheless joined the group on percussion for a few numbers. The concerts were recorded and subsequently broadcast on the Superstars in Concert radio series accompanied by a plea for contributions to the LaKind family fund.[citation needed]
A brief period of hiatus followed during which Simmons collaborated with bassist and songwriter John Cowan (ex-New Grass Revival), Rusty Young (of Poco) and Bill Lloyd (of Foster & Lloyd) on an unreleased project called Four Wheel Drive. When the band emerged yet again in 1993, Hartman and Porter retired from the road for good but former members Keith Knudsen and John McFee had rejoined the Doobie Brothers on a full-time basis after Southern Pacific disbanded. Joined by Ockerman, Bumpus, and former member Willie Weeks, the group toured with Four Wheel Drive as the opening act. After Weeks left the tour to resume his session work, Cowan played bass for both bands. Bumpus also left to join the reunited Steely Dan, giving way to saxophonist, keyboardist, and harmonica player Danny Hull. Former band member Chet McCracken temporarily filled in for an injured Hossack in July, 1993. Their 1994 tour included co-headlining appearances with the band Foreigner.
With renewed energy in the mid-1990s, the band began to experiment with different arrangements of several tunes. They even sampled McDonald's songbook from time to time, eventually restoring Takin' it to the Streets to the setlist on a permanent basis with Simmons and new bassist Skylark (who joined in 1995) substituting for McDonald on lead vocals.
The band has toured continuously since 1993. In 1995, they reunited with McDonald for a brief co-headlining tour with the Steve Miller Band. The "Dreams Come True" tour featured all three primary songwriters and singers and reflected all phases of the band's career. Cornelius Bumpus rejoined for the 1995 tour, with Chet McCracken replacing the absent Knudsen and Bernie Chiaravalle sitting in for John McFee. A 1996 double live album, Rockin' Down the Highway: The Wildlife Concert, featured guest star McDonald on three of his signature tunes. McDonald remains an occasional "special guest" and has joined the group for benefits, private corporate shows and parties (such as the wedding reception of Liza Minnelli and David Gest), as well. Baxter has also played with the band during some concerts.[citation needed]
In 1996, Dale Ockerman was replaced by keyboardist Guy Allison (ex-Moody Blues and Air Supply). Marc Russo (ex-Yellowjackets) joined in early 1998, replacing Danny Hull.
In the late 1990s, the current band was forced to obtain an injunction preventing confusing or misleading uses of "The Doobie Brothers" moniker in advertisements promoting a tribute band featuring former members McCracken, Bumpus and Shogren and backup musicians.
For their 2010 and 2012 summer tours, the band was once again paired with the band Chicago, as they had been previously in 1999 and 2008.
In March 2010, longtime bassist/vocalist Skylark had to resign following a serious stroke. John Cowan returned to take Skylark's place, and has been with the band since. Three months later, before the band would embark on their 2010 summer tour with Chicago, Hossack was forced to sit out following a diagnosis of cancer. Tony Pia, a member of the Brian Setzer Orchestra, was recruited to substitute for Hossack. Following Hossack's death in 2012, Pia became a member of the band.
On September 28, 2010, the Doobie Brothers released their thirteenth studio album, entitled World Gone Crazy, which was produced with their longtime producer Ted Templeman. World Gone Crazy is the first Doobie Brothers album to be produced by Templeman since 1980's One Step Closer. The first single from the album was entitled "Nobody" and was free-streamed on their official website.[15]
On February 26, 2011, the Doobie Brothers performed at the Grand Ole Opry for the first time in their career, leading the audience in singing favorites such as Black Water and Listen to the Music.
By March 2012, five members of the Doobie Brothers family were deceased: percussionist / vocalist LaKind on December 24, 1992 following his lengthy struggle with terminal colon cancer;[16] original bassist Shogren of unreported causes on December 14, 1999;[17] saxophonist, keyboardist, vocalist, and flutist Bumpus of a heart attack on February 3, 2004 while in the air en route to California for a solo tour;[18] drummer, vocalist, and activist Keith Knudsen on February 8, 2005 of cancer and chronic pneumonia;[19] and drummer Michael Hossack of cancer on March 12, 2012.[20]
On November 13, 2012, the Doobie Brothers released an official documentary entitled Let the Music Play: The Story of The Doobie Brothers which featured interviews and rare footage from their early days of the 1970s to the present day. Johnston, Simmons, McFee, McDonald, Porter, and Baxter, along with manager Bruce Cohn and longtime producer Ted Templeman were among those interviewed for the film.
In March 2014, the Doobie Brothers, in conjunction with Sony Music Nashville, announced that its fourteenth studio album would be released featuring the greatest hits of their 40+ year career. The album would feature lead and backing vocals from several country artists and Michael McDonald returned to collaborate on the album. Featured artists included Sara Evans, Vince Gill, Hunter Hayes, Casey James, Toby Keith, Love and Theft, Jerrod Niemann, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, Tyler Farr, Chris Young, Charlie Worsham, and the Zac Brown Band.
The album, entitled Southbound, was released on November 4, 2014. The following day, on November 5, 2014, the Doobie Brothers and Michael McDonald were featured musical guests on the 47th Annual CMA Awards to celebrate the release of Southbound, joined by Hunter Hayes, Jennifer Nettles, and Hillary Scott in their performance of Listen to the Music. At the end of the awards ceremony, they were also joined by host Brad Paisley for Takin' it to the Streets.
The Doobie Brothers performed at Music City Roots on May 13, 2015, sharing the stage with Béla Fleck and Dan Tyminski. This was the band's second performance at the venue - their first performance being an all-acoustic performance back in March, 2011. The acoustic portion of the 2015 show featured songs that had not been heard by audiences in years, including the bluesy Chicago and the title track from Toulouse Street.
In early August 2015, keyboardist / vocalist Guy Allison was called to fly out to Japan to work on an album project. Bill Payne was selected to temporarily fill in for Allison in his absence. Allison returned to the band after their September 5 show at Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, New Jersey.
On August 20, 2015, the Doobie Brothers and Michael McDonald were the featured musical guests on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where they performed a medley of Long Train Runnin' and Takin' it to the Streets. The band also performed a Web-exclusive performance of What a Fool Believes that was made available via The Tonight Show's website.
On the afternoon of September 11, 2015, the Doobie Brothers performed at the Lockn' Festival in Arrington, Virginia, sharing the stage with the jam band String Cheese Incident. That same date, following the performance, the Doobies flew to Cherokee, North Carolina for an evening concert.
In October 2015, Bill Payne took over Guy Allison's duties as the Doobies' keyboardist. The announcement was officially made by the band on December 1, 2015.
On November 24, 2015, the Doobie Brothers, together with Journey, launched a 2016 tour featuring Dave Mason. The tour started on May 12, 2016 at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre and concluded on September 4, 2016 when the Doobies and Journey joined the Steve Miller Band and Santana at AT&T Park.
Johnston was forced to miss the Warren Haynes Christmas Jam on December 12, 2015 due to knee surgery that he had a few weeks earlier.
Since the early 2000s, they have headlined and performed at many benefit concerts including manager Cohn's B.R. Cohn Winery in Glen Ellen (once again sharing the stage with McDonald in 2006 and 2012). Cohn sold the winery in 2015 to focus on managing the band, and the B.R. Cohn Charity Fall Music Festival was relocated to the Sonoma Valley Field of Dreams. The festival was renamed the Sonoma Music Festival. The Doobie Brothers and McDonald, Chicago, and Ringo Starr headlined the three-day event, respectively.
In March 2016, the Doobie Brothers announced the hiring of Irving Azoff for personal management.[21] It is unknown if Cohn decided to retire from the position or was forced to step down.
As of 2016, the band continues to tour regularly. They continue to remain popular among their audiences. They have maintained a continuous and active presence on the Internet through their official website since 1996. In addition, they maintain an active presence on their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages.
On January 1st 2017, the Doobie Brothers announced a co-headlining "Chicago and The Doobie Brothers North American Summer Tour".
In 2014 Michael joined them to re record somem of their biggest hits with country rock artists for a new CD called "Southbound". It was the first album to feature Michael Macdond, Pat Simmons and Tom Johnston since the 70's.
The current lineup is
Tom Johnston

Classic East and West: Everything We Know (and Don’t Know) So Far
By Dave Lifton March 11, 2017 11:48 AM
This summer, two festivals, called Classic East and Classic West, will take place at stadiums in Los Angeles and New York. Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles — making their first performances since the 2016 death of Glenn Frey — have been tapped as the headliners, and several other classic bands are on the undercard.
Usually at major multi-day festivals like Coachella, Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, a classic rock band may headline a full day loaded with indie rock, hip-hop and electronic dance music. But last year’s Desert Trip focused exclusively on classic rock, with the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Roger Waters and the Who performing over three evenings at the Empire Polo Ground in Indio, Calif. Classic East and West, a joint venture by Azoff MSG Entertainment, Live Nation, the Oak View Group and CAA, is taking the same approach.
With information being slowly revealed, we’ve compiled everything we know, and what has yet to be known, about the new festivals into one place.
When and Where
Classic West will take place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on July 15 and 16. Two weeks later, July 29 and 30, they’ll play New York’s Citi Field.
Who Will Be Playing?
The lineups for both weekends are identical, with the Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan opening up for the Eagles on Friday night and Journey and Earth, Wind & Fire opening up for Fleetwood Mac on Saturday.
Who (if Anybody) Will Stand in For Glenn Frey?
Last September, Don Henley suggested that “the only way I would consider any kind of reunion, I think, would be with Glenn’s son, Deacon.” But two months later, he admitted that was more a case of him thinking out loud rather than something that was in the works. And he also repeated that they would likely never perform without Glenn. “I don’t see how we could go out and play without the guy who started the band,” he said. “It would just seem like greed or something. It would seem like a desperate thing.”
While Deacon remains the only name that has even been mentioned in conjunction with their reunion, their old friend Jackson Browne, who performed “Take It Easy” at the Grammys tribute to Frey, could conceivably stand in for Frey. Vince Gill, who briefly fronted Pure Prairie League before going on to a lengthy career as a country star, has also been linked with them after playing “Life in the Fast Lane” at December’s Kennedy Center Honors.
Ticket Information
We don’t yet know when tickets will be going on sale, nor how much they will cost. Tickets for last year’s Desert Trip ranged from $199 for a single-day general admission pass to $1,599 for three-day passes for the pit and the best-quality reserved seating. Granted, Desert Trip was a three-day festival and this is only scheduled for two. However, with more bands on the bill and more seating options, it would not be surprising to see that number increase.
Will This Take the Place of Desert Trip?
Desert Trip was phenomenally successful, selling out in a few hours and grossing $160 million. However, organizer Paul Tollett suggested that it was a “unique, one-off thing.” If that proves to be the case, and Classic East and West are similarly lucrative, it opens up the possibility for it to be repeated in future years.

And I was hoping both The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac would playing the same day.

I loved that tour, and fell in love with Bekka on it.
Journey and REO are just about the same. Simple pop rock, middle of the road, white trash rock.
Not that there's anything wrong with that...
It just rubbs me the wrong way that the "Time" band (who weren't touring in support of an album) have been panned for twenty years for that tour, and now it's okay that the classic lineup is going to be on a bill with Journey? Like, what's the difference?

I agree with all the above comments regarding how embarrassing this line up is. Seriously Earth, Wind & Fire. This is as far removed from the Desert Trip as possible. Desert Trip had artists that are renowned the world over. This is like a bad karaoke night.

Steely Dan and Doobie Brothers are good supporting acts, Journey is okay, it would be way better with Steve Perry though. The only odd one is Earth Wind & Fire. They fit the 70s-80s genre the festival is going with, but Earth Wind & Fire doesn't really fit in with the other bands.

Agree. Fleetwood Mac is above this and shouldn't be doing it.
I wish they had been involved in "curating" the line up.
The Eagles without Don Felder and Glenn Frey, the Doobie Bros. without Michael McDonald, and uh Journey. Yikes.
I'm sure Earth Wind and Fire will be fun, and I know Steely Dan will be great, but this feels like a very lazy, thoughtless and sloppy line up.

In 1997 Fleetwood Mac recovered a tarnished brand. There were a lot of skeptics, but they pulled it off during early shows for The Dance.
I'm not sure why they agreed to be a part of this cheesy line up, but it's doing nothing to hold up their reclaimed legacy.

Azoff / mgmt and money. same as why they did Isle of Wight instead of Glasto couple of years ago. they let themselves being run by their money-hungry management, i guess it's been like this since Mick ran the m into bankruptcy during Tusk tour. sad. hopefully Buck/McVie will tour this year too so this is not the only way they present themselves live this year.

There are plenty of ways to make Money Money Money w/o sharing a bill with Journey.
And I actually have a hard time believing they are still in this for the $.
None of them need it -- several hundred thousand more here and there for a few shows won't make a bit of difference to their lives.
Call me naive, but I think they still love playing and touring.

Of course they do! Sometimes people can get a bit too cynical. Of course everyone likes money but they also have to actually like what they do. Stevie and Mick too probably will be performing until they drop dead, Lindsey loves his groupie fans in the front row, Chris loves being back out there and John is just chill.

As a huge Glenn Frey fan, I'm very conflicted about this. Joe says they will not be billing themselves as the Eagles, but rather Eagles Family and Friends or something to that effect. Still, there's no doubting that without Glenn, it will be essentially Don Henley and friends (no offense to Joe and Tim fans). No one can replace Glenn, regardless of whether they were his "family and friends."
Regarding the Mac, it saddens me that these will be their only shows in what should have been a banner year. I saw Stevie and I will be seeing Buckingham McVie even if I have to travel. However, for me at least, nothing is like seeing all five fireflies burning brightly together.
Will I go? It will probably cost a king's ransom to get good seats; I'd have to travel; without Glenn, "Eagles Family and Friends" is just Henley/Walsh show with special guests; none of the other acts hold any real interest for me; I can wait a few months and see Fleetwood Mac for a lot less.
Despite all of that, I'll consider it.

A Pair of Classic Rock Events Will Bring Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles to the Coasts
By BEN SISARIOMARCH 29, 2017

As the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and the Who took the stage last fall at the Desert Trip festival in Southern California, Mick Fleetwood was in the stands, loving every minute of it.
“I was there like a stalker fan,” Mr. Fleetwood said. “And it was so cool! It was emotionally charged.”
This summer Mr. Fleetwood, the drummer and founding member of Fleetwood Mac, will have something of a classic-rock festival of his own, with a pair of two-day concerts set for Los Angeles and New York, featuring Fleetwood Mac; the Eagles; Steely Dan; the Doobie Brothers; Journey; and Earth, Wind and Fire. The first two shows, called “The Classic West,” will be held at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on July 15 and 16; the second, “The Classic East,” will be at Citi Field on July 29 and 30, with the same lineup.
“Seeing people of every age group really going at it and being supercharged, it was a trip,” Mr. Fleetwood said, calling from Maui, where he lives. “And that’s what we’ve been touching on.”
For Fleetwood Mac fans, the shows have another attraction: They will feature Christine McVie, who rejoined the group in 2014 after an absence of 16 years, reviving its classic lineup of the mid-1970s and ’80s: Stevie Nicks, Ms. McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie and Mr. Fleetwood.
The scale and success of both Desert Trip and “Fare Thee Well,” a series of concerts by the reunited Grateful Dead, opened the music industry’s eyes to the possibilities of adapting the festival model for an older, more moneyed audience. Desert Trip, whose lineup also included Roger Waters, Bob Dylan and Neil Young, sold $160 million in tickets, and “Fare Thee Well,” in 2015, sold $52 million and led to a tour.
The “Classic West” and “Classic East” concerts — the organizers are not using the term festival, since the shows are taking place in urban stadiums with no room for Ferris wheels or chill-out tents — are the latest iteration of this phenomenon, and have been the worst-kept secret of the music world, with most details leaking early this month.

The shows were put together by some of the biggest powers in the music business. Live Nation is the promoter, and every act on the bill is represented, in full or in part, by the manager Irving Azoff, whose involvement with the Eagles goes back more than 40 years.
“Classic-rock radio listeners,” Mr. Azoff said, “have been underserved by current festival lineups.” (For the record, he maintains that he came up with the idea of a festival of rock heroes well before it was “validated” by Desert Trip, which was put on by AEG Presents, a Live Nation rival.)
Tickets for the full two-day event — no single-day tickets will be sold — range from $150 to $950, not including fees, and will go on sale to the general public on April 7, with early access for American Express customers on April 3.
For the bands, the concerts add another chapter to careers that are now defined by huge success on the road. The Eagles — who will be making a first concert appearance since the death of Glenn Frey, a co-founder of the band — sold more than $250 million in tickets for its last tour, from 2013 to 2015, while Fleetwood Mac’s most recent outing grossed more than $269 million, according to Pollstar, a trade publication.

In its 1970s heyday, Steely Dan avoided playing live at all; now it keeps a steady schedule of 60 or 70 shows a year, including an annual run at the Beacon in New York.
Mr. Fleetwood said that going out on the road with the Eagles, in particular, was part of the appeal. “The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac were sort of dueling bands in many ways,” he said. “We all knew each other and all hung out together in the early days.”
“Here we are doing it again,” he added, “and I think it’s just super cool.”

Yeah, but he got ugly quicklike! I've got a pic somewhere, of him mid 1980's, shirtless, backstage, looking all bloated. His addictions were showing. So yeah, he was okay up until about 1982 or so, then slid downhill!
Unfortunately, I'm probably holding a record for the opposite. Although in my mind, it's true!:woohoo:

I'm honestly always baffled (if not else) by the fact that Fleetwood Mac members are considered an example of debauchery for the fact that some members slept with other members/members of the crew/members of other bands when all the other bands from the same period slept with countless groupies while simultaneously jumping from girlfriend to new girlfriend and frequently also saw hookers on the side. I guess it's because the other bands were made of men.

I do hate the double standard. Especially at this time. I don't judge Stevie for sleeping around. I think they all dipped their toes in 'ho' land. I know a few Christine stories, too. Sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Not many people immune to that. Men and women alike.

A lot of time ago I had started to read a biography about Led Zeppelin, they passed groupies to each other like a stress relief method, sort of like "No no now go with him, he's stressed and he needs it more" and were disgusted by the fact that one of those girls didn't wash herself between a guy and the other and it took quite a lot of time for someone to gather the courage to say that to her even if in the meantime that didn't stopped them from anything.
I also read the very disturbing fact that apparently Axl Rose liked to film himself when he was with groupies and humiliated them with sexual acts that comprehended urine and feces.
And finally Motley Crue between a girl and the other put their genitals inside hot tacos to conceal the fact that they just had another sex encounter (I still have to understand that to this day).
The fact is that the rock scene, especially before the spreading of AIDS, is a whole another world made of money, substances and entitlement.

You took it right where I was going. I've been jealous in the past, of the freedoms that they had back in the 70s. When a shot of penicillin could pretty much fix anything you contracted. AIDS changed all that. For gay and straight.

Who is playing last? Fleetwood Mac or Eagles? Or will they split it at the two venues? (night one FM, night two Eagles at the first venue. Vica versa at the second venue)

It'll be exactly what you expect -- the same tired setlist of greatest hits.
There won't be much time to rehearse, so I'm sure they'll go with what they're used to.

IA but for Fleetwood Mac it probably looked weirder to people that it was all intermixed within each other/their people. Stevie and Lindsey, Stevie and Mick, Mick and Sara, John and Christine, Christine and Curry, Stevie and Curry, Lindsey and Stevie's hairstylist etc.
I just wish Stevie could've found a real relationship.

I have to agree with you. I'd be surprised if it was anything different from the last tour at all. The Chain/YMLF/Dreams/Rhiannon/Everywhere/Tusk/Big Love/Landslide/GDW/ISA/GYOW/Don't Stop/Songbird/Silver Springs. Fill in 8-9 in between...

after seeing the prices, which in the top range are higher than the last year's Desert festival, or however it was called, for lesser acts all together, at worse venues, i have to agree. i don't think this is driven by the bands necessarily, but by their common management. bands just had to say yes for a comparably small amount of work and a huge payday, so why wouldn't they? but this just looks like trying to squeeze whatever money is possible out of these bands (or whoever is left in them, in some of the cases), while it's still possible.
i'm curious to see how this will sell. also, whether scalpers will jump on it like they did last year, considering the prices, and also how for the last year's oldchella some of the scalper tickets towards the end went below the face value, when they couldn't sell.

isn't going to the BuckVie tour better way of supporting them and their new music then? of course if you are in Argentina that might be impossible proposition.
i'm definitely not going to the Classic, and i wish i was strong enough to skip 2018 GH tour, but i know better.
i will spend my money (and have tons of leftover) for as many dates as i can of the once in a lifetime BuckVie tour - instead of seeing FM shortened GH setlist of the one i've seen numerous time back in 2014-15.

I can't do a trip to the US just for one BuckVie concert. That's why my best choice is next year's tour. I will try to attend as many concerts as possible and then maybe follow them to England. We'll see.

Eagles And Fleetwood Mac To Perform Together In Classic Rock Concerts

Classic rock bands the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac have confirmed that they will be headlining a bicoastal classic rock music festival this summer.
The concerts are split into two parts: the first, titled The Classic West, will take place in Los Angeles’s Dodger Stadium, while the second, The Classic East, will be held in Citi Field, New York. The Classic West will take place on July 15 and 16, and will feature the Eagles, Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers on the first night, followed by Fleetwood Mac, Journey and Earth, Wind & Fire on the second night. The Classic West will occur on July 29 and 30, and feature the same artist lineups.
Mr. Fleetwood, drummer and founding member of Fleetwood Mac, said that part of the appeal was going on the road with the Eagles. ““The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac were sort of dueling bands in many ways,” he said. “We all knew each other and all hung out together in the early days.”
“Here we are doing it again,” he added, “and I think it’s just super cool.”
Fleetwood Mac, a British-American rock band formed in London in 1968, has sold more than 100 million records worldwide. It is one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time. American rock band the Eagles has achieved similar fame; it formed in Los Angeles in 1971, and was the recipient of six Grammy Awards. It is one of the most successful musical acts of the 1970s.
Their upcoming shows were put together by some of the most powerful companies in the business. Live Nation is the promoter, and Irving Azoff is the manager, who had been involved with the Eagles for over 40 years.
The two-day seat ticket packages for both events will go on sale on April 7th, at 10 am local time. Tickets for the two days range from $150 to $950, not including fees. No single-day tickets will be sold. American Express customers will receive early access on April 3.

also, VIPs and all various platinum seats are already available on TM. just checked, and plats seem to be much better "deals" (if anyone can call 1k+ prices a deal) than VIPs for similar seats. drawback is you can't buy even number of tickets for plats.

Not from the band itself or their spokesperson, but all the media have. However I think it's just a matter of obviousness and that an official statement about it from the band would have been done only in the opposite scenario that she wouldn't attend.

i guess whether or not one would consider going depends on:
having the money (*cheapest* tix are $150, at the top of the stadium - what if you are afraid of heights?, and the expensive ones are priced way too high for most people).
whether you like majority of these bands. for me, i really like just FM and i've heard their greatest hits (plus a few more songs, which they don't even do at festivals!) numerous times in 2014-15. i've heard Steely Dan are fantastic live but i can see them for much cheaper, from great seats. i can't stand the Eagles, and especially Henley. i don't care for Journey. so for me it would be almost like paying huge money for torture - and i'm not into that!
so i have my popcorn and coffee, enjoying watching all this spectacle around the festival i wouldn't go to even if it was free.
although, i'm slightly pi**ed that the delay in BuckVie dates coming out is because these Classic things didn't go on regular onsale yet so any even small promotional announcement of BuckVie dates would get lost in the commotion so i guess they might be waiting at least a week after this. although maybe i'm giving them too much credit and their team is just completely unorganized.

I've tried several different Presales this week, and can't get any of the $150 seats to show up for sale. It keeps taking me to the nosebleeds in the 500 level, which are $250 each. The $150 seats are located in the following sections:
- Field Corner (which corner(s)???)
- Promenade Side (400 level - which sections?)
- Excelsior Corner (300 level - which sections?)
- Promenade Center (400 level - which sections?)
Anyone familiar with Citi Field who can identify where these sections are? The seating chart doesn't provide many clues. I'm sure they're lousy seats, but I just want to get into the stadium...

Yeah, unfortunately that seating chart is not very useful. You can't zoom in close, and I don't think any of the $150 seats are even identified on it. I'll see what comes up with today's General Public sale. It will be interesting to see how ticket sales go.

I figure they have to, considering the number of hits on which he sang lead. I think they'll have a "special guest" handle a chunk of Frey's vocals, although who that might be is anyone's guess. Jackson Browne sang "Take It Easy" at the Grammys with them, so he's the most obvious choice.
Sadly, despite logging in right at the minute that two presales started, and at 10 am on the nose when the general public sale began, I found no $150 seats available. I even emailed Ticketmaster and got an actual response, which was surprising:
"Unfortunately, the seats you are requesting in the $150.00 range have all been sold. They were released but they sold really fast."
Uh-huh. They must not have had many to sell. The next cheapest priced tickets are $250 each, and as much as I'd love to take the family to the shows, it seems much less insane to pay $600 for our four tickets than $1,000, especially for lousy seats.
Did any of y'all get tix? Any in the $150 sections?

Mick Fleetwood says the Eagles' "surprise" plan to perform without the late Glenn Frey is "really historical"
One of the musical highlights of this summer will be the Classic East/Classic West Festivals, taking place in July in New York and L.A. with a lineup that includes Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, The Doobie Brothers, Journey, Steely Dan, and Earth, Wind & Fire. The Eagles haven't performed since co-founder and frontman Glenn Frey died last year, but according to Fleetwood Mac's Mick Fleetwood, they've somehow found a way to fill the huge gap left by Frey's absence.
"I'll leave the surprise of how they're doing it to unfold in their own world at these two shows," Fleetwood tells ABC Radio, "[but] I think it's really historical."
The drummer adds that he's delighted that The Eagles are returning to the stage.
"I think it's hugely profound for the Eagles that they're coming out and doing these shows," he tells ABC Radio. "And I'm really glad that the band is still existing and seemingly intent on continuing as a band."
As for Fleetwood Mac, so far the two festivals, on July 16 and July 30, are the only announced dates for the band, though guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and singer/keyboardist Christine McVie are doing their own tour starting in June to promote their self-titled duets album.

I agree. The Eagles need the money even less than FM. Money grubbing indeed.
They all must be seriously addicted to the adulation of being on stage(not joking at all, seriously - if you're going to whore your brand out).

I agree that the need to play to thousands of fans is part of the lure, in addition to the money. Henley solo is the biggest name, but he can never hope to draw Eagle-sized crowds. If he wants the arena crowds, he needs the brand.
To me, though, that brand means nothing without Glenn Frey. It would be like Fleetwood Mac without Mick Fleetwood!

I am really bummed that when I finally get to see the Eagles live, Glenn is dead, his songs are my favorite. I want to see Lyin Eyes live so bad. I am really hoping Jackson Browne is filling in for Glenn and they still play all Glenn's songs.

Stevie and Don seem to be in the same boat.
It was Glenn's band. They've got a gazillion dollars. I think it's tacky as hell that they're carrying on without him.

You know, maybe hologram is not that far-fetched. Maybe so.
They could do the old Unforgettable bit, where he appears via video and the live (and alive) performers interact with the video as well, but since that has been done by others, would it be historic?

I don't think it's been on the table for Stevie since 1983. After she went more nasal in 1985, that song wasn't really an option anymore.
Sorry to leap back....but Angel is my out and out favourite song,
gives me shivers down my spine, even after all these years.
So why is it considered unsingable with their current voices ?
They get round almost everything else ....lowering the key, back up voices,
Etc etc

I agree, they'd have to bring Felder back to even call it the Eagles at this point. Henley, Walsh, and Schmit just wouldn't be the Eagles. Sure, you can get away with touring with a line-up of unknowns if you're the Vogues, but not the Eagles, or the Mac for that matter. I thought bringing in Jackson Browne for the Grammies performance was a good idea - he was around them a lot during the early years, and would be a suitable replacement for Frey - but they didn't sound great. I'm sure some more rehearsing would resolve that.
Curious to see if this rumor is true...
They brought back Bernie Leadon for Grammy's, so I could see him returning.

I had pretty much given up on getting tix to the East show, when I did my usual every-few-days check in on Ticketmaster late Sat nite. I was shocked to find single-day floor seats for $99 available. I got 4 floor seats for both nights for under $1,000 total, even with TM's ridiculous fees. I know that's crazy money, but I'm a big fan of at least 4 of the bands, and kinda enjoy the other two... so I'm psyched!
Anyone else here going? If you're still interested, now would be a good time to jump on TM...

Hey, great seats! I'm only going to the FM concert.
I'm hoping there are more than 15 songs. Maybe 18?
I'm hoping for Hold Me and maybe drop Landslide, although I know it's favorite. Maybe they will leave out Big Love. I'd prefer Everywhere.

I figure about 18 songs for the FM set. I think you have to look no further than the 2015 shows (and the one off show at Dodger Stadium last year) for the set. Take the standard 2015 set and chop 5 songs off (Bleed to Love Her, Big Love, Think About Me, Gypsy, Songbird) and I'd say that is an approximate set. Probably an outside chance something like Say You Love Me gets swapped with Hold Me. I wouldn't expect anything too obscure nor would I expect any BuckVie songs - and if there are, then add back in Stand Back.

Fleetwood Mac Talk Returning to the Stage for Classic East Gig After Two-Year Hiatus
7/12/2017 by Gary Graff
Danny Clinch
Fleetwood Mac
After going their own ways for nearly two years, the members of Fleetwood Mac are looking forward to being back together for a pair of shows this month, as part bi-coastal festival The Classic.
The Mac will be back together on Sunday (June 16) for Classic West in Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium, with Journey and Earth, Wind & Fire also on the bill. The Eagles, with Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers, will headline the first night on Saturday. Classic East takes place July 29 through 30 at Citi Field in New York. It'll be Fleetwood Mac's first public appearances since November of 2015 and will be proof of drummer Mick Fleetwood's pronouncement earlier this year that the group is "alive and well" despite the recent period of down time.
"We're just going to go in and close our eyes and have fun -- that's all I can say about it," guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, who's currently touring with Mac mate Christine McVie to promote their new duo album, tells Billboard. "It's sort of a spectacle. You can't really worry about the aesthetics or anything. You just have to have fun with it, and hopefully that's what we'll do. We're just going to brush up on our set, and we're certainly not reinventing anything for those shows."
McVie adds that, "It'll be more of the same, I expect. Certainly we'll start with the 'The Chain.' I think we've got muscle memory after being on the road for a year and a half the last time. It will probably be basically the same set; I don't know if we might decide to make an extreme move and do something different."
Fleetwood Mac toured with the Eagles during the '70s, playing stadium dates together, and Mac's Stevie Nicks had a widely acknowledged relationship with the Eagles' Don Henley. "We used to sort of alternate between one and two in the charts back in the '70s," McVie remembers. "We'd check out Billboard and see who was number one this week, so we were fairly competitive back in the day. But I still have such fond memories of 'Hotel California.' It takes me way back to that time."
Like other fans, she and Buckingham are curious to see how the Eagles fly without the late Glenn Frey, whose death in January of 2016 initially seemed to bring an end to the group, which will play the shows with Frey's son Deacon and Vince Gill in his stead.
"I was quite surprised, actually, but I'm proud of them for doing it. I think they've got a good replacement for Glenn," McVie says. Buckingham adds that, "It was just a sad thing, Glenn's passing, so I don't know what you do in that kind of situation. I don't really have any preconceptions. They're smart guys; I'm sure it all works on some level, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it works out. But, you know, it's just such a loss in the sense of Don and Glenn for all those years -- and other people kind of floating in and out of the band, but that always being the center. So anything [else] you do is going to seem a little foreign, at least initially."
Buckingham and McVie will also be playing their own shows around two Classic shows dates, while Nicks has four U.S. solo shows booked for August and September, and Fleetwood will be publishing a limited edition book about Fleetwood Mac's early days this fall with Britain's Genesis Publications. There are plans for the Mac to tour in 2018, though Buckingham is also finishing up a new solo album for the new year.
"That's typical for us; There's a lot of moving parts, so you've got to wait for everyone to be ready," he says. And there's also a possibility that he and McVie will play more of their duo shows, which blend material from the album with an assortment of Fleetwood Mac favorites.
"We certainly could end up doing another leg," Buckingham says. "There was some talk about going to Europe. Again, in the same way the albums started off as sort of a lark, we don't have any agenda for any scenario here. I'm just thinking the shows are going to be fun no matter what we do, and we'll see where it goes. We're just enjoying each other's company and enjoying revisiting our dynamic. I just think it's such a surprisingly positive thing, this whole project coming together and the way that it did, and how it turned out. So I'm just happy with whatever happens."

Some relative surprises there. Bleed to Love Her, Sara, and Think About Me aren't totally obvious choices. Would have been cool if they did Hold Me and Wish You Were Here given their presence on the Buckingham McVie tour, especially since the Mirage album is so underrepresented. Surprised at no Silver Springs and Songbird encore.

Surprised they did Sara and no Silver Springs. Songbird is vocally demanding, so I guess Christine is saving it for the BuckVie tour. Besides, you can't end a show with Songbird and fireworks!
I was also waiting for Hold Me but I guess they don't want to take the surprise element out of the BuckVie tour.
I'm reading everywhere The Eagles show was better than FM show. Besides, The Eagles played for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Really no surprise at all with that setlist. It's the same set they were playing at the end of the On With the Show tour without World Turning, Silver Springs, and Songbird.

Yup, all as expected, same set they played at every festival and the like since Australia 2015. Same as last summer's benefit they played too. They always end festival gigs w don't stop and skip slower lesser widely known songs they like to use to close down their regular tour shows.

They've been ending the BuckVie shows with "Game of Pretend," not "Songbird." But maybe that song is equally demanding to sing, so you may be right that the purpose of skipping "Songbird" is to preserve the vocal cords for the emotional show-ending ballad in the BuckVie shows.
I'll bet both Chris and Lindsey are looking forward to getting back to their tour.

That's true but Songbird does not go over as well in a giant Stadium compared to a small theater or arena

Just off the top of my head, I remember seeing Peter Gabriel perform and he closed with "Father, Son" after playing "In Your Eyes". But I didn't mind it and I kind of got it because I was there with my Dad, just the two of us.

The Eagles and the Doobie Brothers to Put On the Classic Northwest Festival in Seattle

We're not totally sure that two bands playing together can be truly called a "festival" but the Eagles and the Doobie Brothers think it can.
The two groups, who played on the Friday night bill at the Classic West and Classic East Fests, have scheduled a third version of the festival, Classic Northwest, on September 30 at Safeco Field in Seattle.
There is no mention if any of the other four acts, Steely Dan, Earth Wind & Fire, Journey or Fleetwood Mac, who played at Classic West and East, would be joining them. It has also not been said whether Vince Gill and Duncan Frey would once again be joining the Eagles in place of the late-Glenn Frey.
Tickets for Classic Northwest go on sale on August 5 at 10 AM.

Prices appear to be dropping for tomorrow's show. Just bought a 10th row ticket on Ticketmaster for $149 plus fees.

The CD opens to a tri-fold. The picture in the
middle is the one they should have used for the
cover.
It boggles my mind why they chose that cover
photograph.

My only explanation is that they don't care.
They clearly didn't put much effort into the design of the cover. :D
