http://www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/celebrity-news/stevie-nicks-says-another-fleetwood-mac-album-is-doubtful-we-re-not-40-anymore-a3442501.html

Stevie Nicks says she does not think Fleetwood Mac will make another album together — because they are “not 40” any more.

The singer, 68, believes the band are more likely to focus on touring and doubts they will ever record a follow-up to 2003’s Say You Will.

She said: “If the five of us were to get together to make a record it would take a year, which is what it always takes us.

"It would be a whole year of recording, then press, then rehearsal, and by the time we got back onto the road, it would be heading towards the second year, and I don’t know whether at this time it’s better for us just to do a big tour.”

The band has sold more than 100 million records and reformed with the classic line-up of Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, John and Christine McVie and Mick Fleetwood for a world tour, which ended in 2015.

Nicks said: “It’s every single penny we make divided by five, so the expense of making a record, which is huge, and then to get back on tour ... we are not 40.

"We have to take that into consideration — how long can we do tours that are three-hour shows? Would you rather spend a year in the studio or get back on the road? I think that the band would choose to tour.”

Nicks, who is focusing on her solo career, is also reluctant to make new music.

She said: “I don’t write as many songs any more because with the internet, the way that kids listen to music, all the streaming, and the fact that if they’re very savvy, if they want to get it and not pay for it, they can.

"It goes against the grain of our whole belief in, ‘You write a song, you record it, and you put it out there and people should buy it’.

"We realise it’s not our world any more and the younger kids don’t look at it like they’re taking from us... we don’t have the impetus to write 20 songs because we know that unless you’re under 20 you’re not going to sell many records.”

She is not involved with the new album by McVie and Buckingham, which is not a Fleetwood Mac record.
She said: “I’m sure it’s going to be great, because Christine is super-inspired. I’m really happy for them.”

On July 9, Nicks will support her old friend Tom Petty with his band The Heartbreakers at Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time in Hyde Park.

She said: “I’m the girl who always wanted to be in his band and he’s always the one who said, ‘No, no girls allowed.’ There’s just no one else I’d rather be on stage with than Tom.”

Agreed! This is some kinda sad news, and Stevie seems like she has just had it with recording altogether. hopefully she will come around..

I have to agree, I am not too happy about the comments she chose to make in this article--I still love her, but no, it would not have taken a year out of her life to add backing vocals to already completed songs and contribute 2 or 3 new ones--

she should keep touring , she will not sustain selling out arena unless she is packaged with someone who can fill half of it for her and FM should bring in Rick and Billy and make a kick ass record then tour with them

She says that Fleetwood Mac isn't going to make a record, but they did... without her input, of course. It's still FM to me.

Well... isn't it physically gruelling for them to continue to tour at their age? Why not enjoy the re-established connection with Christine in the studio? Who cares if it takes a year? So would a world tour, the only difference being the financial implications.

I find this whole lack of Stevie thing the biggest gottdamn shame. God forbid one of them keels over before we either a) get a new album or b) another tour with the 5-some. Very upsetting to think about it. The fact that Chris has returned and any of the band members would now fragment the group yet again is almost heartbreaking.

The more I think about the situation, the sadder I get. I could never hate Stevie, she is my favorite forever. However, it is sad that she seems to be stuck on this recording doesn't sell opinion. I am definitely happy that she took time to do the 24 Karat Gold Tour but i just wish she would contribute to a Fleetwood Mac album. I know Buckingham McVie will be great, but it's not the same to me without Stevie. I was thinking that her not wanting to work with Lindsey was the reason behind all this. Now this interview makes me think that it is recording in general. I guess this means no new solo album from her either. I wish something would change her mind. You can tell that tour has made her so happy, similar to the way songwriting used to as well.

I will always love Stevie for that voice being there in my darkest hours but her attitude in this article is horrific. Someone who has always said that songwriting was her first love is not writing songs anymore because some 20 year old might steal it?! Just disgusting.

I love Stevie and I adore 24KG. However -- and I don't think I'm alone in this belief -- every song on that album could have been infinitely better with Fleetwood Mac. Same with IYD. I bought those albums because I love Stevie and her words... But the production on those albums leaves much to be desired. In my mind, good music is good music and I will buy it if it's good. Not even digital copies but tangible music that you can take and play and hold onto. Call me a "hipster" but I'm in the exact demographic that they keep saying they need to appeal to. And the thing that got me really hooked to begin with was Stevie appearing on American Horror Story, because while I knew of the band, that was like a little door for me to walk right through into their world. So that was a better marketing strategy for someone my age than any daytime talk show or singing contest performance.

Forget Bob Dylan -- would you say that to Beyonce or Adele right now, people who do sell whole albums because those whole albums are cohesive and creative and worth buying?? Anyone focused on just selling a single is only going to sell a single, and probably even fall short at that. IMHO streaming has replaced radio, not albums. People stream what they don't care to buy. If you love something, you'd still rather own it. I'm even a little offended that Stevie would assume anyone other than her fans would latch onto IYD or 24KG, simply because it's her singing and the lyrics are hers; you need the whole package if you want to be successful, and that is why I think a Fleetwood Mac album would do better than a Stevie solo album -- you have all of the components needed to make great art if you just put them together!

Even Stevie alone, imagine if she pulled a Beyonce and put her soul into basically a movie -- a "visual album" -- where she chose every detail with purpose, crafted a story and had an unlimited budget and creative freedom. And why couldn't she? That could literally be the Rhiannon movie we've heard so much about. She has the money and creativity to actually make that, just like Beyonce made Lemonade. But she lets herself get dragged down and live in the past instead, just like she talks about in her song Ghosts!

But back to the topic at hand...

It's clear to me that Stevie has a problem with Lindsey and a year on a new FM album equates to a year wasted because she would rather do things that make her happy in her remaining years. Fair enough.

I like how she doesn't mention Lindsey at all, but says Christine seems very inspired.

I think there's so much more to it than that... As we have all learned, what Stevie tells the press should be taken with less than a grain of salt. I personally think Stevie's run out of inspiration, therefore taking a toll on her songwriting. The "songs written about Lindsey while on tour" vault has been emptied - nothing new there. No new loves in her life - so we get rehashed stories from her days on the road, or things like the Kennedys :distress:

It would be embarrassing for her to return to FM with nothing but old songs, or really bad new ones, when Chris and Lindsey have been consistently writing.. I think she's just too prideful, and is biding her time until everyone else calls it quits so she can just do what she likes without the pressure of competition

I get what you're saying because it is an art and it is something that you would think they/she would want to share just because they want to share their art. However it is also their careers. It is her career. For example, as much as I like like helping people, I would not be doing mammograms and xrays, which is what I do for a living, for free. Even though at this point it's a moot point, it's still obviously really bothers her that she would be doing something and not get paid for it. Yes she is probably very rich, but that still doesn't mean she doesn't want to get paid. Who knows what her finances are?

Just when I thought I'd heard every excuse come from her, she brings up youth and technology. Um hello, the industry has always been hard to break into. And guess what Stevie, you did it with amazing songwriting. Now you say the only reason you don't want to create is because it's hard again for you? Girl, please...

Judging from the tone of her recent interviews re: the current tour, you'd think she was all about mixing up the set and doing different songs. I read into that the implication that the rest of the band are the ones who insist on a "greatest hits" set every time... But then Lindsey's solo sets would indicate otherwise.

So maybe it's Mick and John that don't want to learn any new songs?!;)

When Christine toured she did a lot of her new album. Spare Me A Little, Just Crazy Love, as pre LB/SN tracks. It was a fantastic set. So maybe you're right. It's mick! John doesn't care.

I thought that was so rude. Maybe she didn't mean it that way but it comes across very dismissive and disrespectful. As if she's saying "I know the album will be good because Christine will make it good, Lindsey who?" It's one thing to have your issues with a coworker but you shouldn't disrespect their work. Very tacky imo.

Well that being said, it's historically been Lindsey that has put down most of Stevie's work.. what he said about her early solo albums.. Destiny Rules songwriting "Bob Dylan" drama..

I think years of putting up with his ego led her to create one even bigger than his to protect herself. She always said that without Lindsey, her songs would be nothing but little piano demos, but when asked about her songs, he was usually very passive or condescending.

I've listened to many song introductions on tour from bootlegs from Tusk and Mirage.. When Lindsey would introduce Sara, it was also quite dismissive. Introducing Sara, he would say "this was the other single of the infamous Tusk album, one of Stevie's called Sara". - This, said extremely condescendingly. Introducing Gypsy once, he said "Well this is the soon-not-to-be-current single, one that Stevie called Gypsy".

So at some point, I think walking away from someone who never appreciated you for what you were is a vital part of establishing healthy boundaries in relationships, something that Stevie has never really done well.

See the thing that gets me about the piracy comments is that I feel like the people who are stealing music are not listening to Stevie Nicks or Fleetwood Mac. Typically those 20 somethings she talks about are just looking for whatever the newest top 40 hip hop single of the week is. Stevie really does have a growing fan base of young people today. I'm 18 and I know of plenty of other dedicated fans my age who are more than willing to purchase her albums because of the love of Stevie and her music. I can't see that much of a loss regarding young people just stealing; however, I see where she's coming from since artists definitely deserve to be compensated for their work. I hope this is just another one of her phases that she'll come out of.

And I've heard intros where he says things like "This is a very pretty song from the equally pretty Stevie" "This is Sara, it's really pretty" etc:shrug: I don't think intros are overthought.

The Bob Dylan thing imo is so overdramatic, there was nothing wrong with what he said.

It just rubbed me the wrong way. This whole interview with her rubbed me the wrong way, probably why I'm being more picky than I would be.

Now its time to demonstrate my trained statement analysis training.
Stevie is not honest in this interview (big surprise). As usual she is full of contradictions. She says they are getting too old to record but not too old to tour? That makes no sense.
Notice how she singles out Christine and says something like the album will be good because Christine is very creative. She never mentions any other band member like Mick, John, Chris, and Lindsey are fantastic musicians and they will definitely create a fantastic album. She does not say that which reveals her inner bitterness towards the members for moving on without her.
Its really a shame because NEVER would anyone think Christine would come back to tour let alone create another album. The loss of one final album with all 5 members will never be. I expect the album will be better without her but its still a bummer the Fleetwood Mac history of recording had to end with a "duet" because one member chose not to participate but cant pass up the big bucks from touring.

I have no problem with Stevie saying she doesn't want to record anymore and just tour, but if you are in a band with 4 other people and the majority wants to record and you don't, then the obvious choice is to leave the group.

But it's apparent that she wants to stay in Fleetwood Mac so she can tour and rake in the money. Which is from us fans.

I love Stevie, but I am very disappointed in her mindset about this and I'm sure the rest of the Mac are frustrated also. I doubt if they want to go out as an oldies act.

Macfan4life, you could be right. Maybe Stevie didn't say anything about Lindsey because of the old saying "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." At least she was complimentary towards Christine and she didn't bad mouth anyone.

She says nice things about Christine, doesn't take any digs at anyone else, and some people (not you, macfan, but others) seem to think she's being disrespectful. I kind of feel like Stevie can't win here.

I actually feel sorry for her, in a strange way. Her celebrity is at a highpoint, her concerts are selling well, she is VERY high profile, but--and this is a big but--she seems genuinely traumatized by past experiences working with the band and, in particular, Lindsey. I want to say "get over it"--but you don't tell someone who is experiencing trauma to get over something. Moreover, Christine and Lindsey are on a writing streak. Stevie has not written new material in a while. Given past record reviews (especially of Tango and Mirage), Lindsey and Chris will get accolades for their collaborative partnership whereas Stevie will be likely to be compared negatively. When she works on her own, critics are much kinder.

One could say she brought some of this on herself: she has hoarded her best material for her solo outings and, with the exception of Gypsy (which, as the demo reveals, is really a feat of Mac production and group effort), her FM songs on Mirage and Tango were somewhat weaker than her solo songs (some people will argue with me on the merits of Straight Back--it's a good tune but is it as good as any five or six of the best songs from The Wild Heart?). She DID step up to the plate and hit a number of songs out of the park (forgive the sports metaphor) for Say You Will--but apparently working with Lindsey was so trying she can't bear to do it again.

The return of Christine is a bittersweet truth for her: she gets her friend back while on tour but then she is now faced with an inevitable record she has been trying to avoid recording since 2007. When Christine was absent, she could say, "if Christine came back..."; but now that she IS back, she resorts to other excuses. In truth, she seems written out, or, more probably, she can't bring herself to create something within the context of Fleetwood Mac. The process of song development under Lindsey's direction is too humiliating for her.

I really do feel sorry for her and am NOT upset that she backed out of the record. I am looking forward to the new McVie-Buckingham collaboration. However, I am annoyed and dismayed when she gives BS reasons for not wanting to create new music. I've also been upset with her--AND the remaining four--for letting her rhythms and whims decide the timeline for the band's new music.

Stevie has always needed a musical guide/muse to help her realize her musical potential. It used to be Lindsey, then it was Jimmy Iovine, then it was Rupert Hine, then, after a number of producers who came and went with the next two studio albums, it was Dave Stuart, who really allowed her to embrace what she is.

Now she seems kind of lost...

Actually I was thinking, wasn't her last contract with her label finished with 24 K Gold?
What if she's having problems with the record company about stipulating another one?

She talks about sales so much, I believe she really wants to stay validated by having fame. She has no love life, she's not interested in the band besides the major cash grab tour, thus, she's focused on staying in the spotlight.

She's got more money than she'll ever need. It's about staying relevant. And yes, she doesn't write solo, she needs help. She wants to choose who helps her. It's shallow at this point in her life, but it is her choice to be that kind of superficial artist. It's disappointing to a lot of fans.

I think Stevie is trying her best to be restrained in answering questions about the Buckingham McVie release. To her, it probably feels like the ultimate betrayal. All the years she spent with Lindsey, she wanted him to collaborate and write with her--and she felt like he never truly respected her songwriting talent. Now he's co-writing with Christine, her friend. Likely, this is bringing up feelings from the past as well as present.

Stevie has been writing--she's been a songwriter since she was 16 and writes in her journal every night. When her mother passed away, she wrote many songs about that experience. When she lost her dog last summer, she likely wrote many songs about that as well. And now she has lots of momentum to write about Lindsey and Christine's betrayal (which this is to her). But there's a difference between writing music and being ready to share them with the public--especially being able to perform them.

Stevie has had many losses in the last several years: her father, her mother and her Sulamith. Many artists would just sell their homes in LA and move home but instead Stevie chose to create an incredible set list and once-in-a-lifetime tour for her fans.

It's very sad that people can't be thrilled about what she's giving us and feel like they need to constantly tear her down. I've loved Stevie's music since seeing FM in 1977 and have been a fan of hers ever since. Through good times and bad, I've always admired her willingness to pick herself up no matter what was going on in her personal life and go onstage and sing. Most of her shows were great; sometimes she wasn't but she was always there for us and she was always there for FM.

Whatever Stevie chooses to do now (hopefully a solo release and continued solo tours; maybe FM last release and last tour), I support her.

If the record is already that close to completion (ready for release in May), then it wouldn't take another year for her to add 3 songs culled from the Vault. She does that on her solo albums anyway (e.g. "That's Alright," "Sorcerer," "Goodbye Baby," "Secret Love," and many, many others finally recorded and released YEARS after the demo stage). She has so many good songs that still deserve to emerge from vault/demo status (e.g. "Julia") that she doesn't even need to write anything new.

When "Straight Back" was a last-minute replacement for "Smile At You" in '82 on Mirage, she said to a reporter that it was no worries because it didn't take long for the band to record her songs.

I wonder if announcing that they were proceeding without her was a last-ditch tactic to get her to relent to participating. She's undoubtedly aware that this is going to make her look a "bad witch" to a lot of fans, so she could well be annoyed, despite her nice remarks about Christine.

Maybe she feels the commercial/critical pressure that a Fleetwood Mac album from the most famous lineup would to have to live up to, especially if she feels more creatively blocked than her bandmates. After so long on the road with them, she's surely heard some of the material they've cooked up. Maybe she's not digging the vibe and doesn't want Lindsey taking her songs in that direction.

Based on the EP from several years ago, my hopes for another Mac classic (even if it's just credited to Buckingham McVie) are not terribly high. But I, too, am disappointed that this seems like a major missed opportunity from a lineup that's only managed to record 5 studio albums together in 42 years.

Who knows if this album really even be released in May? Maybe she's right and it will take Lindsey another year to finish tinkering with it.

All I know is that sooner or later, we'll be getting a new Stevie Nicks album (of old and maybe some new songs). And all that talk about kids and their Internet will not block its release.

It's like forgetting which excuse you used because you're making them up as you go along.

We aren't living in the Napster era any longer. I don't think stealing music is a problem. Yes, internet streaming is ubiquitous, but artists are being paid for streaming. Maybe it's just pennies a play, but in the future they stand to be paid more. And (legal) download and record sales have actually been increasing. Not to mention the vinyl resurgence.

And maybe its just a natural realignment in music's value. Maybe musicians really don't need to be earning many, many millions from the sale of music. Perhaps its just not worth that. Maybe a for a successful artist to earn hundreds of thousands of dollars for a good album would suffice considering they will also be earning money from other revenue streams too.

Like all of you, I've been hoping for Stevie to participate in one last FM release, too. But she did say at the beginning of the tour with Christine (when Stevie changed plans to do her solo tour for 24K) that she wanted to wait and see how she was feeling at the end of the tour. For whatever her reasons are, it appears that Stevie does not want to work on this project.

After seeing her in Los Angeles last month, she was so happy on her own and even though it's more work to perform in her solo concerts, she seems to enjoy it so much more than working with FM. Most likely, being around Lindsey just brings more pain than anything else, especially as she's processing so many losses in her personal life. Seeing him with Kristin can't be pleasant and now seeing Lindsey so happy with Christine just adds more unhappiness.

Their use of Stevie and Lindsey's duo title, changed to Buckingham McVie, is another dagger in her heart--especially since they were talking about a 40th anniversary release of Buckingham Nicks' CD and possible tour before Christine returned.

When you put all of this together, it makes sense that Stevie wants to separate herself from this project. She's committed to the tour and has always come through on her commitments to FM--even when it's hurt her solo career (e.g., Mirage and 24K).

For those of you who love FM, you'll get another release from Lindsey and Christine. You'll also have one more tour (likely their last--considering most of them are in their 70's). I am thrilled with the solo tour Stevie is doing and can't wait to see the show a second time--and hope she records something (either solo or with FM). But more important, I just want her to have a happy life. She deserves it.

Sadly, she's really been "disconnected" from Fleetwood Mac as a full participating member for a long time. At this point, if being solo is where she's happiest, then so be it. If she's not feeling it, she's not feeling it. I'm looking forward to what she does solo and what Chris and the boys do as a band. Bring it on.

An interesting way to look at the issue is from Stevie's "we're not 40 anymore" perspective. Stevie is very much a nostalgic person. Even in her younger days she was enamored with the past. Take her love of antiques and fascination with old film stars. Also, look how young she was when she wrote about already getting older in Landslide. I think there's more to it beyond what Stevie is sharing. When Stevie's on stage, either solo or with FM doing a (mostly) greatest hits setlist she is able to visit her glory days and keep the past alive. I think her lack of participation with new music may be attributed to the fact that she's terrified of getting older. I know none of us like to admit it but our 5 fireflies won't be here forever and Stevie knows that. While the others see this as the time to create, Stevie feels the opposite. Maybe she believes that tensions in the studio take away from the happy, glory days vibe on tour. She might also see making an album with all 5 as the last sort of hoorah for the band. Tours at least let her get away from the inevitable.

Since reading this interview, I've felt a range of emotions. At first I was just sad because it seemed like Stevie has lost all inspiration. But maybe what inspires her today is reliving the past. Ultimately, I think I support Stevie as well as the rest of the band. Sure I would have liked another Rumours 5 album but you can see from the looks on Stevie's face during this tour that she is having a great time. She's performing hits as well as dusting off memories all while selling lots of tickets. Living in the past is one of the things Stevie loves and I can't really blame her for that.

I respect Stevie's honesty but I don't understand her not wanting to record music again because of downloading. She comes across as money hungry. Taken at face value I'd be highly surprised if we ever get a new Stevie album. I love Fleetwood Mac but these greatest hits shows get boring because there are really no great surprises.

I agree with all of this. Classic, Psychology 101 triangulation going on here. Two people in, one person out (Lindsey + Christine, Stevie + Christine.) I don't think it's intentional on anyone's part, just three people coping with a very complex history.

We've heard the soap opera stories in the media so often, we tend to forget how real the past pain must be for them.

Also, Lindsey & Stevie haven't had the recent benefit of prolonged time apart from the whole mess - as Christine did, which has given her perspective. Remember Stevie's attitude in 1997 for The Dance? At that time, she'd had 10 years away from Lindsey to let go of the bad and remember the good. This time, no.

Stevie's songwriting talent lay in raw emotion - so when she'd go through a turbulent event like a breakup, she'd go to the typewriter and write pages of nonsense, comb through it and pick out the lines that stuck out and paste them all together to form a cohesive (well, sometimes) set of lyrics.

And now, she's nearly 70 and her life isn't chaotic anymore and the inspiration well dried up. It's been dry since she stopped doing coke, let's be honest.

And I think she realises that. And it would be embarrassing to send old tracks into Fleetwood Mac when Lindsey and Chris are still bubbling with creativity, because they have an intellectual songwriting skill that they can craft a tune so finely. Whereas Stevie's work was always very raw.

I Don't Care, the only "new song" from 24 Karat Gold, I think is the worst song she's ever recorded. An awful droney, banal mess. And if that's the quality of her songs these days I'm glad she's staying away from this!

I get the feeling that making a Fleetwood Mac album is a miserable experience. The Tusk doc looks all fun but watch the outtakes. Stevie is singing along side the playback of Angel in once scene and Christine is rolling her eyes and making snide comments to the guy at the control board. Watch the In Your Dreams doc where everyone is enjoying this incredible creative experience and then watch the Say You Will doc where everyone is stressed and exasperated.

Imagine having a terrible job but one you are good at and that everyone knows you at. Now imagine getting to do a different job that you totally love. Then you get the choice to keep doing the job you love or going back to the job you hate because everyone else wants you to do it. Which would you choose?

I don't think it's about making money. But I do think that it's about spending your money, putting in long hours and doing all the work, paying all the people who are part of that work, like the studio technicians, the musicians, the crew that sets up the equipment and all that. It's not like you call a few friends and make an album. It's a hugely expensive process. And it's a lot of work. So do to all that and put it out there only to see that a huge percentage of the music buying public are just going to steal it anyway. It's not about making money, it's about a show of respect. If you say you're a huge fan of someone but you copied all their music and didn't pay them for the time and effort it took them to make it then it's a real slap in the face to them. Regardless of if they are rich or not. And if someone made two or three albums and gave them away for free the money involved could eat up a huge chunk of their savings. So it's not even about not making new money but it's about losing money to make something someone is just going steal. As much as we love Stevie and her creative energy and the magical words she writes, at the end of the day this is a job. If you won the lotto and didn't need money would you still go to work every day for no pay?

Everybody is different I guess.
If money was no object then most people would spend their time doing whatever they enjoy doing. Most artistes would choose to 'create'. Film makers, actors, artists and musicians would generally choose to spend their time creating and adding to their body of work. Indeed many such creative people choose to create even when it doesn't bring in money. She can afford to spend her time making music that the world can listen to- she's a multi, multi millionaire. Why should she give two sh!ts whether people pay for the music? Even if it lost money (which making and releasing an album wouldn't), be an artiste- be creative!!!

Have been saying for a long time that Stevie lost her songwriting abilities.

She has no drama in her life to write about, she has no man in her life to writs about either.
You can't write about Lindsey for ever, and anyway she has lost the inspiration...
I also think Christine returning was bad for Stevie, she had grown used to being the only female in an all male environment. And liked it!!!

She will be a tad jealous of Lindsey and Christine, calling the new Album Buckingham Mcvie won't help either.

I think Stevie is being rediculous. A new FM studio album would only create positive buzz. She should at least be honest about her reasons for not recording with Lindsay. I don't agree with the opinion that Stevie Nicks no longer can write. IYD was fantastic. And she certainly could record without putting a year in the FM studio sessions. I'd respect her reasons without the "It doesn't sell" excuses. Just say you won't work with Lindsay in the studio and be honest instead of these BS reasons. I always will love Stevie. She did say that she and Lindsey have moved in different directions musically which makes getting back in the studio hard. And I think this has been the case ever since SYW. So that is definitely one thing. But the fact that she's talking about not writing songs as much anymore and that her last album was old demos, also doesn't help the idea that her personal creativity is also a part of the problem. I think that if she ever releases another album that's the same style as 24KG, with a bunch of old demos, then it'll be confirmation that she just doesn't have that same drive anymore.

Looking at the comments in this thread, I think that a lot of you have nailed the issue here: Stevie's tired of the songwriter life and, seemingly, wants to stop and smell the roses and enjoy whatever years on this planet she has left. I'd say let her do what she wants - she's a grown old woman and still as sexy as she was back in 1997 when "The Dance" DVD was released. I loved the song, "Silver Springs" from that project!

I'd love to see her and the other four do a final farewell tour (like the Eagles) and then let each of them go their own way (slight pun intended there).

So just bring more old demos to the band. She always used to complain about her songs never seeing the light of day. You'd think she'd take any opportunity she gets to put them out.

I've long thought that Stevie is lacking in inspiration these days. Maybe she will record an album of songs about Karen. "Dead Honest" could be one of the song titles.
