Why doesn't FM take a note from Stevie's playbook and tour behind their reissued albums instead of a new one? That way, everyone wins! Stevie doesn't have to record new material with them, Lindsey and Christine get to perform 'new' songs for the tour like Smile at You, If You Were My Love, and Goodbye Angel, and if they played 'deep cuts' they've never performed before (or only once or twice) like Brown Eyes, Over and Over, Save Me a Place, Hold Me, Love in Store, I Don't Want to Know, Warm Ways, Crystal, etc then the audience would win. Or, Stevie could sing some of her songs from the Buckingham Nicks album in lieu of 'new' material. I'd love to hear Races Are Run live.
Stevie is winning rave reviews for combining 'deep cuts' like the Wild Heart and Crying in the Night with her hit songs on her current tour, so maybe FM could do the same. I originally posted this on Stevie's board, but since a lot of FM fans are mad at her for not working on the new album, or are upset at the band for possibly touring without a new album, I wondered what they would think of this here.
Would a FM fan be happy if, instead of recording new material, they shook up their set list with 'deep cuts' alongside their classics?

Huh? Stevie is on the road promoting her 24k Gold album. The album that many could have told her not to record because it wasn't going to sell, get airplay, or have hit songs. She is telling the Mac "do as I say, not as I do." I just don't find logic in that.
But to do what Steive is doing we are all in favor of. Go out on the road to perform new music AND play deeper cuts. New music AND deeper cuts are NOT exclusionary as Stevie is doing now.

I think it may be that, since her album has been made two years ago and she's really seen now how much it didn't sell, she's now disappointed and changed her idea about new music.
Touring with an unexpected setlist, on the other side, has been a pleasant surprise so now she thinks also the whole band should do it.
Plus by the time the album eventually comes out and they can hit the road they'll all have surpassed the 70s limit and they may feel too tired to tour such extensive tours and shows like they did until now. On the other hand albums can be recorded at any age without suffering from tiredness.

I don't see Stevie really believing that. She is obviously VERY proud of In your dreams and 24K gold. She wanted the world to hear those songs. It blows my mind to imagine a studio album with multiple songs with Stevie, Christine, and Lindsey harmonizing.

Well, one doesn't exclude the other, after all the more you are proud of your work, the more you get frustrated if it doesn't get recognized.
It would blow my mind too, and I think it will eventually happen but not anytime soon.
I'd pay good money to see a show filled with strictly non-hits from '75 - '82.
It ain't ever gonna happen, but it's a nice thought. ;)
