I know everyone's saying that if Stevie's not interested, they should just finish the album and release it without her, and I agree-- there's no use in having her if she doesn't want to be there and if the process will upset her.
However, I question whether or not they could release it without her. Meaning, would the record company even be interested in a Fleetwood Mac album if her name isn't there? BTM was kind of awkward without Lindsey and then of course Time was a disaster. She's the biggest star of the band and aside from how weird it would be to have there be a final album without her, they probably already think that they won't make much money off a new FM album and without Stevie it would make even less, so I wonder if they do get around to finishing the album, if they'll be able to release it.
I remember on Ken Caillait's tumblr blog last year, someone asked him if he thinks a new album will happen and he said no because the world of music is different today and so are they. He said that they might try but decide to not release it.

I don't think that FM can exist without Stevie. I love them and would buy the new album without Stevie, but that is just me as a longtime fan.

Nowadays bands/artists make the biggest money from touring. I doubt that any promoter would view the 4 remaining bandmembers as bookable for a world tour. It's like the Rolling Stones without Mick Jagger or Led Zeppelin without Robert Plant. It's just not happening.

I think it probably won't matter because the amount of time Fleetwood Mac spend working on albums before releasing them is biblical, and Stevie will have all the time to finish her little tour and make a second Songs From The Vaults, if she mantains the same timing and process schedule of the first, before contributing something to the album at the last minute.
This is particularly true since this could be the last album of the band and they will want to produce and polish the **** out of it. You also have to think that she isn't a musician for the band, so a late contribution won't slow much the process.

As much as I think Mick and Lindsey are the backbone behind the band, I feel a Fleetwood Mac album without Nicks' contribution would be a great shame. If Stevie did participate it would be the first studio album to feature the "Rumours" line-up since Tango In The Night in 1987.

I'm really hoping that there is one more studio album released with the "Rumours" line-up, including a tour to support the album, also featuring all five members.

Am I right in thinking that Stevie Nicks is definitely participating in the 2017 Fleetwood Mac world tour?

Christine said they're all on board for the 2017 tour. But imagine how awkward if the album never gets to be finished because Stevie won't contribute and it can't be released even though the rest of them want it and then they all get together on tour. Not gonna be a happy family.

Dreamsunwind, I posted a thread saying why I don't believe the record company would want to release a FLEETWOOD MAC album without Stevie Nicks being on it, and my opinion didn't go over too well. I won't rehash it, but I do agree with you that the record company would have some concerns. I also think the band does, too, which would explain why they're still waiting for Stevie, rather than just releasing the album without her.

I think Stevie is just throwing around her power to get what she wants. She doesn't want to sit in the studio and do 5,000 overdubs, so she's off doing a solo tour while all that groundwork is being laid. A remarkably short solo tour that will easily allow her to join the band in the studio immediately following the holidays. She's sent up warning flares about how she and Lindsey have gone in diverging musical directions; yet her absence right now is giving the band ample time to craft their songs into a sound that would be palatable to Stevie.

I always want to stab my fellow chiffonheads when they wield this quote, but "don't listen to her, listen through her." Like others have said, Stevie is the star of this band. She would not dare allow that limelight to be shifted away from her by not participating in the first Fleetwood Mac album in nearly a decade and a half. She's just making sure she has a firm grip on the proceedings before she signs on.

I don't think Fleetwood Mac is even signed to a record label at the present time. Their record contract with Warner/Reprise ended years ago, as did Stevie and Lindsey's solo deals with the label. Thus, I really don't think any of them are currently signed to a record label roster.

That being said, and with the way records are release now, I'm sure that a label somewhere would be interested in releasing a Fleetwood Mac record with any lineup. However, if they want major label support, it's probably best to get Stevie on board.

frankly, i don't think i really understand the question. why are people talking about "record company" like we are not in 21st century? they don't need a record company. Lindsey self released several albums - both studio and live. Mick self released live album just in the last few days. FM 4 without Christine self released their EP. so why are we still talking about some imaginary "record company" - when we know neither FM or any of the 5 individual members have a label.

I saw that interview. I think that just goes back to Say You Will. I feel like she just didn't like anything about that album or the process of making it. She and Lindsey have gone in different directions musically but that started with Tusk and they still made albums after that. Tusk itself is a masterpiece in my opinion, and her songs on Mirage were fine, Gypsy especially is a classic and she was hardly even there for Tango. I disagree with what she said about how they used to be on the same page, I feel like that band was very rarely ever on the same page.

I think it's what you said, the 'overdubs'. She doesn't have the patience. So hopefully you're right, that she'll come in at last minute. But even then I feel it would be sad if she didn't want to be there and her efforts are half-assed. And I don't want her to be grumpy about it on the tour and then complain later.

and now we are getting more and more glimpses of why their timelines used to be so biblical - like working for the last 8 years trying to talk Stevie into album!!

i really hope they finally grew some balls like they've been claiming lately and they release this album they seem to be in studio finishing right now!! actually the FM men don't even need to grow the balls considering they now have a woman pushing it forward (instead of one holding them back) finally in their midst - go Christine!!

You have a point but I also think there's a difference between someone like Lindsey as a solo artist versus Fleetwood Mac. I loove Lindsey but his career as a solo artist never really took off, his name on its own is not that big, so it's not really anything odd if he were to self-release an album. But Fleetwood Mac is a big legendary band, I think it would be strange if they were to release an album without a big label behind it. Not like I'm saying they couldn't, it would just be strange I think and they might be hesitant. The EP was just that-- an EP that had like zero promotion. I don't think a big label will look at the 4 of them without Stevie and be so thrilled about it.

i think you might be right there - that some of them are hesitant. don't think that's because of the label, but of some other reasons, but i do think Mick is probably VERY hesitant - and that's why they have been at this standstill. we can only speculate, but my feeling is that Lindsey and Christine both cannot wait to release the new stuff they've been working on. i don't think John cares much either way. so who knows, if it's Mick who's hesitant, maybe Christine and Lindsey push forward and release as a duo?

i used to care and wanted them to release as FM since that would be right thing to do, but they broke me after all that wait - and now i just want that new music to come out and they tour it in intimate venues next year (before yet another big FM 5 reunion).

A larger indie label would love a major band like Fleetwood Mac on its roster, with or without Stevie.
there you go - from someone who actually knows indie business.

Yes, it's possible. And probable, if recent comments from Christine are anything to go by.

And I, for one, would be perfectly happy with or without Stevie there, as long as new music comes.

Will it ever? These people (members of the band) infuriate me.

I'll say 50/50 on this .As we see they had so many members that they went through and they cranked out albums and toured over the years .

I have seen no signs that this is what is happening. Since that burst of time in the studio by Chris and Lindsey, there is zero sign that any of them are in the studio together since the tour ended. Mick's doing his own thing and Lindsey's been doing a few bits with other bands and Christine's talked about a future tour and that's it. No chatter about them being seen in a studio or anything. Nada.

Yes, Christine said something about going back into the studio with the band in October. She could just be working with Lindsey in his home studio for all we know, though. Or the whole project has possibly fallen through.

I agree with most of what has been said...but I've felt that most big band decisions occur when Mick gets the testicular fortitude to make it happen. When Mick says enough is enough to Stevie she'll be back, but he works at a sloths pace when trying to convince someone to do something.

because he doesn't have the power in the band. It's all in the hands of Stevie and Lindsey. Stevie has made it clear that once the band is working on something, he (Lindsey) calls the shots more than any of the rest, including her. Her power comes therefore from not committing to participating, and holding out for what she wants. She did that on SYW... she held out committing to touring any longer than 40 dates which would have made it untenable for him to recoup the money he would lose on a double album... so they cut the record back, and then she agreed to more touring. She can't control the production process and she knows it...so she leverages every other kind of control she can. And she's not above threatening to use her popularity with the press either to trash something if that's the leverage she has to use. That seems to be where Mick gets a bit cautious...

Well, that's certainly no way to behave in a band- holding your bandmates to ransom to get your own way. They are missing clear leadership. Mick's management back in the 1970's may have been atrocious but he was the boss. Things were done his way and, though he might have made a pigs ear of the Tusk tour finances, at least things got done. Lets face it, things went down hill from then on (though I appreciate that whole phase coincided with a major change in the dynamic of the band). I'd say they should appoint Christine as an offical band leader- what she says goes. Christine's way or the highway. Stevie wouldnt get to play her silly little games anymore then.

I feel like that's just her way of saying, in the studio, since Lindsey produces, he'll argue with her over songs rather than like Dave Stewart who basically nodded and agreed with everything she said. I don't think he necessarily calls more shots, but since he produces, he's in the position to go toe to toe with her and is willing to do it. I feel like in the end, she's kinda the most powerful person like how when she was going overdrive on IYD, Mick did that interview saying his band is dead because of her. It all comes down to her so to speak since she has the most fans.

Yeah, I agree, BUT, once they got rich, it became "how do we keep the money rolling in"(at least for idiot Mick). And the answer is, when possible, having all five of them together. So yes, she has them hostage, and it sucks...

My opinion of her just keeps dropping. You wouldn't have thought it possible, for it to go any lower.

Screw Stevie. Christine trusts Lindsey and they made some real magic on their songs on Tango, especially the B sides. Stevie wants straight ahead rock and roll/ balads with NO f#$king edge or creativity. Boring, bland, blah. Overdubs are evil etc... The way she has disrespected Lindsey and the band I could care less if she leaves. I would rather have an album that doesn't sell as well but is artistic and fresh for us fans. BTW I used to ADORE SN. Not anymore.

Is an album without Stevie possible to be released?

Not sure if you have seen this article that was posted:
http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=56415

I think Christine answers your question herself, right here:

You would consider doing some shows with just you, Lindsey, Mick and John [McVie]?

As a four-piece, yeah. With a view of doing a huge world tour after that, with Stevie.

And would you expect that we'll see this new album in 2017?

One would hope so, yeah. That's the plan. And I can't wait for it to be finished. It'll be great. And then we'll hopefully do this world tour with Stevie. And after that, who knows? But we're all still alive, how about that? So that's a start.

-----
I think Christine makes it clear that Fleetwood Mac plans to make a new album and tour behind it without Stevie and then later do a world tour with Stevie. Stevie's not holding them back from making this album and getting new music out to everyone. It seems clear they are proceeding forward with a new album and will tour behind it without Stevie, and probably has her blessing as she is moving forward with her own touring. That's a win-win for everyone, isn't it? Everyone gets the new music they want, Stevie gets to do what she wants. If there's a hold up, well, this is Fleetwood Mac. They always spend a LOOOOONG time putting out an album. And they are older now. As Mick says: "We're never finished!" (on the 100th re-take of Zevon's song "Werewolves of London" that he and John collaborated on.)

ok. I went back to check what she said coz I forgot. She really does say if Stevie doesn't want to be part of the record they could do smaller shows without her. Wish they would!

What is the future of the band at this point?
Well, we cut seven songs in the studio already for the start of a brand-new studio album. Which we did probably nearer two years ago. We shelved that temporarily and then went on the road and did the tour. And now, actually, I think we're going back in in October to try to finish it off. Stevie hasn't participated yet, but hope springs eternal. She's going on a solo tour at the moment. But Lindsey and I, we have plenty of songs. There are tons more in the bag that we have yet to record. And they're fantastic. So we're going to carry on and try to finish the record. And then maybe if Stevie doesn't want to be part of that then we can go out and just do some smaller concerts.

But WHAT do you do, when one member doesn't want to participate???

Just do nothing, and let her hold the rest of you hostage?

It would be better to have what they've recorded, than nothing at all. And with Stevie's behavior lately, "nothing at all" is looking like all she wants us to have.

While I prefer a final solid album by all 5 members, I hope the 4 remaining members release what they have and it is met with critical acclaim, and at least enough commercial success to justify its release. At this point, animosity needs to be put aside. It is pretty sad that Stevie can't be bothered to even give them a couple of old songs and some backing vocals. If it doesn't happen with her, I hope to see Fleetwood Mac accepting an album of the year award at the 2018 Grammy's without her. It's a dream but I know a lot of people would love to see that.

Back to the original question about whether releasing an album without Stevie is possible.....

Anything is possible; however, I will say that given the huge crowds Stevie is attracting to her recent shows (I was at Boston and there were more than 15,000 people in the arena), I'd hazard a guess that any record company would be hesitant to offer a deal without Stevie on board. The band could certainly release something on their own, but after the minimal success of Extended Play I bet that's not all that appealing to them. I think when all is said and done Stevie will participate and we'll get one final album from the five fireflies.

This makes me depressed...but I think you are probably right.

Yeah, but when...2019? 2025?

The music's there. She doesn't want to record with them. So put out the music, bypassing a big record label. Anything they release with Christine and Lindsey is bound to get critical attention at the very least, which is more than most acts that old get these days.

I don't think she's wanted to record with FM for a while. I got bored so I looked through a bunch of older interviews and things with her from back since 2011 and on and she's been putting it off ever since then. Lindsey had been saying since then that he had songs he's working on. And you could also tell from the EP that she barely threw them a bone with only one song that was old old old. She just doesn't seem interested.
I really really hope she gives in and sucks it up and records that one final album but man, she just doesn't seem interested at all and hasn't been for a long time.

Stevie's solo stuff lately while fine, is boring. All sounds produced the same. Pro tools used to make her harmonies sound young on every song. I liked In your dreams but didn't listen to 24k more then twice. BORING!!! She needs lindsey.

I didn't care for 24K either, because I found it too stripped down for my tastes. But that was what Stevie was going for. She's made PLENTY of great and best-selling songs without Lindsey, and she definitely doesn't need him.

I definitely don't think she needs Lindsey or really needs any particular person for that matter (Bella Donna is a great album in my opinion but I didn't like Wild Heart much and they had the same producer), but I personally have always loved those songs the most, the ones where they were at their peak in collaborating together (BN, FM, Rumours, Tusk, Mirage). Those have always been hands down my favorites of all her songs in her entire career. It sounds cheesy, but they really had a certain magic in my opinion. Even after that peak, with the exception of a few songs (some of which might have just been clunkers regardless), I still always liked what he's done with her songs.

Are you sure? I know he was touring with them but as far as I'm aware the last date was the end of September. Christine said they'd be in the studio in October. Not heard much from Mick since September. Haven't seen any further dates added, though I believe he's doing a slot with Sammy Hagar at the restaurant tomorrow.
Incidentally, on his twitter he posted a picture of him looking at Stevie on stage. The tweet reads 'You must have the blues'. The next tweet on 22nd November reads 'Baby, please stop messin' round'.
Now, I might be making things up in my head (and it all might just be a bit random) but I just can't see why he'd make a blues reference featuring an image of Stevie. Sounds to me like he's getting a bit desperate.

What I've always wondered is how does she differentiate between her FM work and her own work?

Of course if she feels inspired to write a great song, she'll want to keep it for her solo album. So how does she decide whether a song becomes an "FM" song? Are they co-written by Lindsey/Christine, so technically not a TRUE Stevie song?

Still sticking to my prediction. Stevie WILL record with FM on their last album. Stevie will get off the road a very happy camper how well her solo tour went. She will rest after the holidays and be ready to hit the studio early next year.

she's always said anything she has is available to Fleetwood Mac. She's consistently said she presents them her portfolio of songs and they take what they want. Even on SYW they had all her old stuff to pick from. She was the one who then decided she needed to step up to Lindsey's level and bring new stuff and went off and wrote those 4 new songs. She brought all of them to the table and let them pick. I do think these days she probably has more of an opinion of which ones she wants to push for.....

Recent post on Facebook from Christine said the album would be done by Christmas.
Now it's been announced that the 24K tour will continue next year, but not until mid-March. That gives Stevie plenty of time to go in and add her vocals and polish up whatever tracks she may have given the band to work on.
The album will be released late in the third quarter or early in the fourth quarter of 2017, just in time for the start of the next tour!

Stevie Nicks Wants a New Fleetwood Mac Tour, Not a New Fleetwood Mac Album

Danny ClinchStevie Nicks is currently out on her 24 Karat Gold tour, promoting her recent solo album. But as far as recording a new album with Fleetwood Mac, Stevie believes the band shouldn't waste their time.

Before Fleetwood Mac launched their most recent tour, they worked on some new tracks without Stevie. While Mick Fleetwood suggested the tracks might be released with just Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie singing, Stevie doesn't buy it. "You can never say never, but I don’t think that will happen," she tells ABC Radio.

That doesn't mean Stevie's ready to join her bandmates in the studio, though.

"The only reason that I don’t really wanna do a record is because I think that, in a year and a half, we’ll probably go out and do another Fleetwood Mac tour, since Christine has come back," she explains. Christine McVie rejoined Fleetwood Mac in 2014 after a 16-year absence.

Stevie thinks touring is the better plan, simply because of Fleetwood Mac's dynamics.

"Do we want to go and close ourselves up in a studio for a year, [and] make a record that’s really good but that probably won’t sell, because records don’t really sell that much?" she asks. "And then we'll have been stuffed together for a year in one room, and...when you come out of that room, we may not want to go on a tour!"

The logical solution, Stevie says, is to skip making a new record, and simply hit the road.

"I think that we should choose the tour over the record," she tells ABC Radio. "Because touring is much more fun than making a record when you don’t have any idea how that record’s gonna come out."

Stevie has time to figure out her next move: her tour doesn't wrap until December 18.

Is that a new interview? I recall her using almost the same words in an interview a month or so ago.
Anyway, she's unbelievable... 'a record that probably wont sell'... but its okay for her to go and put out records that don't sell tremendously well, the rest of them have to be content with touring. Get the message Stevie- they've nearly finished a record.

I have to agree with her .Albums dont sell unless your name is Katy,Justin,Taylor,ETC of the current artists or bands but they only will sell a hand full to us true fans which wont add up much in sales.Nevermind the new album will get any radio airplay on any current music stations but probably hear bits of it on classic rock stations if the music directors,Program directors and jocks are nice enough to grab it out of the stack of dusty CD's sitting in the corner and give it a shot on the air. She forgot to mention that after they hosed her in not playing IYD and 24K on the radio.I can imagine the dust collecting on those two CD's at the stations.More likely got tossed in to the rubbish can.

In other words, screw creativity and screw the fans who have supported a string of greatest hits tours. But let's say it as if it's the most logical thing in the world. "The ONLY reason is that the band is going on tour, so why not just tour and forgo the difficulty of making the record." This is crap.

But it's even bigger crap that the remaining four have not assured the fans who want new music that there will BE new music.

Crap. Crap. Crap.

This basically confirms what I've always thought. She's dejected by the fact that albums don't sell and so she doesn't have the motivation to go in for the time and struggle of making a new FM album. I think it's been this way for a long time as well, I read a lot of her old interviews since around the time of In Your Dreams and I've always thought this. There's even that user on here I saw called FM77 who is somehow pretty well connected to Stevie and they've also been saying this for a while.

It's a shame and a disappointment and I do hope they release it anyways but I can acknowledge it's very possible that that won't happen.

At least I think that Lindsey is comfortable in his solo projects so he'll be fine with it probably, if only disappointed, same with Christine, I think she might do a solo album as well sometime in the future.

I agree and I hope they do release it but I do think it's important to acknowledge that it just might not happen. They might not want to without the 5 of them.
I still remember someone asked Ken Caillait on Twitter or Tumblr I think sometime if he thinks they'll release a new record and he said no because things just aren't the same. He even said they might make it but choose to not release it. Not like his word is law but his opinion I think is worth considering. If he didn't think a record with the 5 of them would be released, a record without Stevie is even more unlikely.

Lazy? I don't think Stevie's at all lazy. She's not taken any time off. Christine had a LONG vacation. Lindsey has been working. Stevie has been working. Scared? Steve has been on stage and touring, and she put out 2 albums in the past 5 years. Making money=touring, not making an album. It's a business. She seems to make it clear she doesn't want to spend time waiting for an album to be finished. Maybe it won't take that long. But it's her time. They could push on without her. Why don't they? I don't think any of Stevie's reluctance has to do with the making of money associated with the album. Rather, it has to do with being in the studio with someone she doesn't particularly get along with. This isn't any big surprise is it?

I think it's more of a matter of being in the studio with someone whose recording process drives her nuts and she doesn't have the patience anymore like she did in the past plus if albums don't sell she thinks 'what's the point?'
Even though they fight, if she didn't mind his process, I think she'd do it, but that's I think what gets to her the most. She knows it's gonna take forever and she might not even like how it turns out which will put them in bad moods and then when it doesn't sell it'll just be worse.

I think I speak for many of us when I say we have nothing else to live for except a new Fleetwood Mac album. I feel that I have only been staying alive this last year or so solely based on my hope that the 5 members can reunite for the finishing touch on their legacy. Stevie is very close to ruining this all for me and many others. She should take this into consideration when blowing everyone off.

Both Lindsey and Christine left because of touring and not because of wanting to creatively contribute to the band. Lindsey created most of Tango and did not want to tour. Christine did not tour with the band but still contributed to Time. Stevie is saying she wants nothing to do with new material with the band, does not want to create new music but will graciously sign on the dotted line for big bucks for touring.
I see no comparison. If you don't want to play and contribute with the rest of the band members then you should not be touring with the band. There may not be big bucks in recording but all the money from touring is why you stay with the band. Lindsey and Christine did not have that philosophy.

I see no comparison. If you don't want to play and contribute with the rest of the band members then you should not be touring with the band. There may not be big bucks in recording but all the money from touring is why you stay with the band. Lindsey and Christine did not have that philosophy.

Bingo. She's showing her hand and its clear that her artistic creativity is long dead. She's clearly in it for the money at this rate. If the legacy of FM is going to end as a 4-piece project, then tour as one too. As someone who has bought her albums, seen her solo countless times and knows every lyric to every song and demo, I think its time to end Miss Nicks' run with the Mac. If she doesn't want to play ball as a full time member then exit gracefully. I would've said the exact same thing about Lindsey in the 80s and Christine in the 90s if the situations had been the same. If anyone doesn't want to contribute to the band, then leave the band. 4 of the 5 want to do a record so you're outvoted. That simple.

But of course thats never going to happen because those 4 people want the legacy of the band to stay intact until the final curtain falls both on stage and in the studio so when you have 5 hardheaded people, what does that get the fans? Another cash-grab "hits" tour and a lackluster finale.

So be it.

I love Stevie, but I would love if Mick or John said no to the next tour UNLESS she took part in a new album. They should give her an ultimatum at this point.
F*ck that.

Remember that radio interview she gave just after Street Angel in 1994? She was on a plane sitting near the producer Don Was, moping about the fact that music by the old farts wasn't selling well, so what was the point of recording again or even bothering to write any more songs?

This obsessive anxiety with record sales and customer response has haunted her for decades. On the other hand, then she says that making In Your Dreams was the most fun she's ever had in the studio. So what to believe? Everything she says? One year she's down on studios, the next year she's having a ball. There's no predicting her.

It's a shame and a disappointment and I do hope they release it anyways but I can acknowledge it's very possible that that won't happen. The Dance combines live playing of old songs and new songs. If they tour, they could always tour in a more controlled environment and play a bunch of new stuff, which you can sell online or in the trendy coffee houses. There's a billion ways to do things in music these days; you don't need to stick to the old paradigm. The five people in Fleetwood Mac have no idea how to be logistically innovative. They need a manager or an assistant in their camp to float the ideas.

At least I think that Lindsey is comfortable in his solo projects so he'll be fine with it probably, if only disappointed, same with Christine, I think she might do a solo album as well sometime in the future.I hope they don't all do that. Talk about your collective band "legacy" going down in flames. That's the 1990s all over again.

I get what you're saying but I think she looks at her solo projects differently from FM because with her solo stuff she's in charge and can have everything how she wants (unless she's on klonopin and hates what she's doing lol), FM requires more struggle and so because of that she's less motivated to do it. And the fact that she had such a ball making IYD is I think part of the problem, now that she got that taste of such fun album making ("the best year of her life"), she doesn't want to compromise anymore to do something that won't give her that same joy.

But in essence I agree with you.

Honestly, as much the phrase "self care" squicks me out, I think that's a big part of it. I don't see Stevie as money-hungry-- I see her as realizing what makes her happy & what brings her joy. She's 68. She doesn't have time to live for other people-- especially ones that she feels (whether righteously or not) disrespect her artistic integrity. Stevie is taking care of herself. Working with LB takes an emotional & artistic toll on her-- as much as many of us love him. If she's realized she's given enough to FM & can't do it anymore (whether the reason is emotional, artistic, whatever), I respect her for standing up for herself. As someone who's worshipped FM since I was 3 years old, I want new music so much it hurts. And my first instinct was to be mad at Stevie. I have been all day. But I came around to wanting to trust her. She is raw. She is emotional & intense & sensitive. Despite her faults, she is quite self-aware. She knows what she can & can't emotionally handle. Personally, I can't fault her for protecting herself. I might not be happy with this, but I respect her & think I can wrap my mind around WHY she would do this.

i think we'll get it, one of those 2 ways. and i hope it's followed by an intimate tour in 2017, as Christine mentioned.

if the album comes out as FM that means Mick grew some real balls and cares about art over money. if it comes out as CM/LB that means Mick needs money again and wants to make sure there is yet another FM5 sure-cashgrab tour, holding both creative part of the band as well as SN a hostage.

i'm optimistic for 2017.

And THAT'S the problem. She wants to be IN CHARGE. And she'll NEVER, EVER, be in charge of FM. She and her managers do have input into the whole shebang, but(regardless of her "star power"), she will NEVER have the final vote....unless it's in ticket sales. And she knows that, too.

Thus, the Mexican standoff that we're faced with.

Very well said. Completely agree with you. I have also been mad all day, but you are right. In the studio and personally, LB is too much for her and at her age she knows she needs to look after number one....I mean she is single still I am assuming so she has only herself and her own mind and heart to protect...she's not getting emotional support elsewhere and why waste so much time on something that is likely to make you unhappy. HOWEVER, In saying that I think after the EP she could do the exact same thing, bring along one -two old demos and turn up for a week lay down some harmonies and then be gone....

Agreed, she is being ridiculous.

As if she can tell the band what to do. Since when does one member's opinion trump the four others' desires?

I think fans will judge Stevie harshly, even long after she is dead and buried, if she successfully kills off the last Fleetwood Mac album, leaving the songs to wither and die in the darkness.

Both Lindsey and Christine left because of touring and not because of wanting to creatively contribute to the band. Lindsey created most of Tango and did not want to tour. Christine did not tour with the band but still contributed to Time. Regardless of why Christine or Lindsey didn't tour or record with the band when they left, the point is they still didn't, and while I and many, many others were disappointed or devastated, it was still a choice on their part and we had to accept it. Same thing with Stevie. And I really think she dreads the thought of being in the studio with Lindsey for any length of time. If that's true, I hate it, and I wish she would suck it up, but she's gotta do what's right for her.

I won't go further about WHY the band is so hesitant to release an album without Stevie, it's all subjective, anyway.

I never thought I'd say this, but if she's definitely said no, they should record without her.

Yes, it won't make nearly as much money, but hasn't everyone been saying it's about the art? I can understand them waiting in the hope that she'd change her mind, but now that such a hope has been quashed, they should move forward as a 4-piece.

They could still tour with her even if they make the album without her, so they'll still make back their money.

After all this begging for Christine to come back to the band, she comes back and Stevie does not want to make another record with her and the rest of the Mac?
Stevie debating if the new Mac record will be any "good." Oh really? You don't think when Chris, Mick, John, and Lindsey create music its not always "good."

I suspect some really bad stuff happened between her and Lindsey during the last long tour.

Sadly what else is new? This is a cycle on seemingly every tour where midway, whether through a show speech or an interview, we hear Stevie saying "I'll be honest, this is the BEST time that Lindsey and I have had together; we finally buried the hatchet!"

Then at the end of the tour, we hear about the animosity again. We just want some new music. Please and kthx.

nope, don't think so. the whole last tour they were probably arguing in private about the album - and she is now finally airing it in public.

like some others have said, i think it's all about decades old push and pull, love and hate, with some power play sprinkled in it. they kept arguing whether or not FM should make / release new album during that whole FM 5 tour. this new SN interview airs out all their circular arguments from 2014/15 (plus probably 5 years before that, LB was talking about making new FM album since 2009!). we got some glimpses of what was happening from fans talking to Mick and Lindsey during the tour. it's all consistent with what SN says in this new interview, just fans didn't want to believe it to be the case.

no no, they need to tour new music without her. otherwise it will just be yet another stupid expensive GH FM tour. we need to hear at least 6 new songs, as has been the tradition with each new LB or FM album in the more recent times. and SN's timeline puts FM 5 tour in mid 2018 time frame.

they have plenty of time in 2017 to both release the album (which if we believe what Christine was saying is probably finished right about now), and tour behind it as a foursome so we can hear all those fab new songs.

The thought crossed my mind this morning: is it at all possible that this is just a calculated Stevie power play? Meaning that if she goes on record saying this, will the band (especially Lindsey) be willing to make concessions they otherwise wouldn't have in order to get her back? Maybe that's more production control, more say in tracklisting, more WHATEVER she wants? Getting Lindsey to beg her &/or relinquish his precious control would be delicious for Stevie, & we all know it.

I still stand by my previous comments about Stevie having to do what's psychologically best for her, but there is also that aspect of knowing she has Lindsey by the balls & is basically going, "So what now, Linds?" with an evil smirk on her face. For all her beautiful, loving, warm, sensitive qualities, Stevie is also the queen of pettiness. I imagine even if her goals here are truly to protect herself/her heart/her art, she's getting off on controlling this.

Is it possible, I guess, that they make the concessions she wants & she records? The album sales comment is so tired-- she's been saying it since 1981, but keeps releasing albums, so it hasn't stopped her yet. I suspect this is all about forcing Lindsey to put her in the driver's seat. If he gives into that, if she essentially "wins," is it possible we get the album?

Well, the Mirage tour only had 4 new songs, the Tango tour only had 4 new songs, The Dance tour had only 4 new songs, and the EP tour only had 2 new songs. Ironically, the Say You Will tour had a lot of new songs, but the album wasn't that strong, unfortunately.

I wasn't trying to be picky, really just pointing out that even a new album might only have 4 new songs on the tour.

No doubts it's partly about power, but not entirely. Reading between the lines of everything that's been intimated it sounds as if they've already bent over backwards and ceded to her in order to get her to agree to record. I dont think she's holding out- I think she's genuine, hence her decision to extend her tour. I had held some hope by the start of the new year she'd be all FM, but nope. I'm all up for a foursome (oo'er) but I'd even hope they pushed it back in her face by bringing in a new member (not gonna happen).

Tango was an anomaly as one third of the songwriting team wasn't present for the tour. To make up for it there were plenty of older songs that were brought in so at least the setlist was fresh. The Dance tour wasn't on the back of a full album but still had new songs. Additionally there were other rarely played songs such as Farmers Daughter and Go Insane. The FM Live tour in 2013 also wasnt on the back of a full album. However, they did play half of the EP material (rather glad they didnt play the rest).

i think the power play and emotional push/pull you are describing is probably a big part of the picture, but the missing part is that she seems musically dry / uninspired since SYW. if artist has no inspiration to create new music, why would they have an urge to release it?

the other problem i see with your scenario is that it would push FM album back even more. she would not be able to seriously work on it before april 2017. by that time we can already have an album and Lindsey/Christine tour dates!

nope, that's why i specifically said more recent LB and FM tours. :) recent as in 21st century. LB always plays 6 new songs when touring his new albums, at least in this century - 6 on UTS tour, 6 on GOS tour, and 6 on SWS tour. i mean i'd like 8 at least, but oh well. ;)

FM played 6 new songs on SYW tour, i believe. (and songs on SYW are some of the strongest songs rumours era FM released, but they are definitely not to everyone's taste.) considering EP had only 4 songs all together, 2 is a pretty fair number!

Oh, I totally agree with you! I would be thrilled to hear whatever LB/CM, etc. have been writing/recording. If this is Stevie's bottom line, there's not much they can do about it, & I think they would be pleasantly surprised by how many people would pay for a duo or foursome tour.

If Stevie is really onboard for a mid-2018 tour, fine. I'll still pay out the ass, even if it's a Greatest Hits tour. My hope is that the rest of them are as close to finished with this album as they say they are, & just get the ball rolling on a release & tour without SN in 2017. Rather than letting her jerk them around for her own self-gratification, they should just say "Okay, cool, girl-- talk to you in a year."

I love Stevie to death, but she thinks she's got more power than she does here. Yeah, they'll have to change some things up, but they're talented-- they'll do it.

and ideally, they all will move on from insisting on FM 5 GH set-in-the-stone setlist and can finally mix it up with some deep cuts (how many years now have i been calling for WATL?????).

so we can get all 3 things: a new album at the start of 2017, hear those new songs live in 2017, and then FM 5 tour with deep cuts in 2018. how great would that be!?!?!

That's sales BS has been going on for years and then she releases an album. To be perfectly honest at this point in their creativity I would rather Stevie leave then Chris. Chris is open to trying things, where as Stevie wants that straight ahead BORING AS F production.

I don't understand the people that would NOT see a show where Stevie wasn't there, nor buy an album that Stevie isn't on. I've seen Lindsey on tour at least a dozen times. I think a tour with Lindsey and Christine would be amazing! I wish Fleetwood Mac would proceed with the album and smaller venue tour. I'm in! Why are we having this discussion at all? Christine said the smaller tour IS going to happen and Stevie would join them later for a fairwell tour. That should make everyone happy. Who isn't happy with that? I took that as a sincere plan.

I have to agree with you on this. This seems to be the solution that makes everyone happy. Personally, the main draw of Fleetwood Mac for me is Stevie (and also Chris) so I have honestly been extremely happy with her choice to tour solo and extend this tour. This was my first time ever seeing Stevie and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Stevie is on fire right now and she seems much happier. However, I would also like to hear the music from Chris and Lindsey. And while I probably wouldn't attend a show without Stevie there, I understand that there are many who would. My only wish is that there is one big final world tour that is a mix between greatest hits and some old album deep cuts since I am a newer fan and have yet to see Fleetwood Mac live.

I don't think it's a matter of Stevie wanting power and I don't think she's reluctant to work with anyone in particular. I think IYD being a commercial failure is coloring Stevie's position much more than anything else (i.e. SYW). She poured her heart into that album and worked very hard to promote it.

By comparison, 24KG didn't sell that many copies, but she didn't exactly put that much effort in it: It was comprised of old demos she found on the internet, it only took a few weeks to record, and she was already signed to a label.

I think she feels that recording an album with Fleetwood Mac would be a complicated undertaking where the overall returns wouldn't justify the effort they put into the album. Lindsey's meticulousness takes a lot of time and energy, which is usually when the interpersonal dynamics become an issue. When it's finished, assuming the personal issues haven't gotten out of hand, what next? They don't have a label, so the logistics of how to release it presents another challenge which could further complicate the working dynamics within the band. And for what? Another album that won't sell?

FWIW, Ozzy recently said something very similar about not wanting to make a new album because people don't buy albums anymore, so Stevie isn't alone in that sentiment.

However, I don't think any of that matters to anyone else in Fleetwood Mac. I don't think the others really care about sales at this point. They want to be a creative entity. That was the primary reason for Christine coming back.

I think you have a point. When she was promoting the documentary she made several comments about how she was heartbroken that her record was 'dead' and then Dave Grohl told her that she should release what she filmed in order to 'save' it.
I feel like that's the main thing that's making her not want to put the time and effort into recording. Lindsey in the studio is a pain for her because of his pace and their clashing directions but if she thought the record would sell, I truly believe she would suck it up and do it.

Totally agree re: IYD. But for as much as she/others whine about Lindsey overproducing her work, my god, I thought Dave overproduced IYD FAR more than LB ever has with anything. As much as Stevie metaphorically crawls into Dave's lap any chance she gets, I truly think he has to shoulder a fair amount of blame for IYD underperforming.

I think Lindsey sometimes overproduces a lot of his own songs but as for Stevie's, in my opinion, the only songs on Say You Will I think he messed up on was Smile At You which was a really great demo (granted a great, old demo so who knows how it would be years and years later) but not that great of a song. Silver Girl and Say You Will were, in my opinion, just bad songs. Just I don't like the songs, no miracle production/arrangement would've made them good. Illume and EFO and Running through the Garden are fine to me, forgettable, I'll admit but fine. And I loved Thrown Down and Goodbye Baby. I thought the hushed whisper-y singing thing on Goodbye Baby was a nice touch but that might just be me.

I know everyone hates all over When I see You Again from Tango but in my opinion, I love the arrangement on that song. I think it kind of saves the whole thing. It's so pretty. The awful lyrics and 'wassamattababy' are major buzzkills but I think the arrangement is quite beautiful. And Lindsey's solo at the end...just...ah.

As for IYD, I agree. But, I personally have not really liked the production on any of Stevie's solo albums ever since Bella Donna. Wild Heart is okay and after that, I just don't like it. Too cheesy, idk how to describe it and Dave Stewart was no exception. However, I did like For What It's Worth and Annabel Lee and Soldier's Angel, I still listen to those songs sometimes. Everything else, not really. Not like it was bad, just not great. Also, and maybe this is just me, I just found Dave Stewart kind of annoying. Saw too much of him in the videos and everything, it was like overkill.

I've always believed Stevie's best songs came out of her and Lindsey's working together in their peak from the early 70s till Tusk and even onto Mirage a bit.

look, Stevie isn't all rainbows and fairy tales. there's a side to her that's very, very competitive. She founded a record label to produce her own solo stuff for F's sake.... she likes being number one, she likes having successes. She really, really, really dislikes failure or what feels like "failure" to her. She probably feels Lindsey's solo work has been a "failure" coz it didn't match the numbers hers did. Putting out an album and not having it sell well feels like a "failure" to her. Selling out arenas feels like "WINNING" to her. Being feted as a "legend" feels very much like "winning" to her. She wants to be winning all the time. Having an album that doesn't chart very well is not, to her, winning, even if that is in fact the state of the industry for most artists who aren't Adele or Beyonce. Her comfort zone is winning. She will stay in the arena where she can "win" and be ahead of a most other artists,(or at least on par with younger acts and therefore "relevant"), and that's in touring and selling seats. Not making albums. In which case, FM should say, bye Felicia and do the album without her and tour it. without her. If they end up coming back for CashGrab 2018 so be it.

At this point the other four need to just go ahead without her and release an album. I know they probably want to avoid conflict with her at this stage in the game, but who cares? She doesn't want to be a part of it, and so be it. It's ridiculous. I just hope she never has the gall to ring Lindsey up in the future for help on one of her solo projects again.

I'll have your ticket, Skip. Thanks

Yea .If I get one.LOL........

and that's ok.

same thing as i skip Stevie solo tours as she is boring to me even in the FM context.

there will always be a FM 5 tour in 2018 for anybody who wants to see all 5.

I guess we are even.LOL....I have not or skipped on seeing Lindsey play solo. But I would like atlease see one show.

You need to change your name to Steviefanforever then ;)

I asked a friend of mine what she thought of Stevie Nicks (she doesn't listen to FMac or Stevie on a regular basis, just loves rock music) and she replied. "Stevie is very popular, she is kind of like the Rosanne Barr of Rock and Roll."

I'd be totally ok with another Fleetwood Mac album without Stevie. They were ALL without Stevie before '75, so let's go 4 piece again and see how it goes. Her ego really blows my mind, she has no confidence in them as a recording unit and it's so overblown to have to waste an entire year just to record 3 or 4 songs, and sing backgrounds on a few others. They could send each other tapes in the mail. I mean, c'mon.

I haven't been following the ins-and-outs of what they have been saying in the press as closely as I used to but I'm pretty shocked at Stevie's reaction. Sure, she doesn't owe them anything at this stage but I think it's pretty disrespectful to Christine to have held things up for so long. Christine came back and seems to have all this creative energy and then can't do anything with it. If I were Christine, I'd be pissed at losing so much time waiting around. After all those years of "I wish Chris was back" she can't even bring herself to actually record with her! With her friend! Pretty appalling.

I hope they tell her (politely): thanks for your service over the years, you added a lot to the legacy of Fleetwood Mac, but we are a creative band that wants to continue building our legacy. It's a shame you don't want that... but that is your choice. Call us back if you'd like to be part of a creative project. Now, we're off to the studio, where we were having so much creative fun.

I randomly found this while scrolling through the LB tag on Instagram today, & didn't remember seeing it discussed. A woman ran into LB in Los Angeles on November 22nd, & according to her comment, they talked about "his new album he's working on with Christine McVie." His phrasing it like this makes me think the band had been well-aware of Stevie's decision for a hot minute & that we're going to get these songs as a Lindsey album featuring Christine, rather than as any kind of foursome with the Fleetwood Mac name. Of course, he could very well be talking about two different albums, but I found it interesting, either way.

Lindsey could have said "I've been working on a new album with Christine" which she could have misinterpreted as being a solo ("his") album.

In any case, I want the album to come out as a Fleetwood Mac album. They're all current members of Fleetwood Mac who have been working together as a band, therefore it should be released under the Fleetwood Mac moniker.

Interesting that it's a duet album and not mentioned as Fleetwood Mac. You'd think he'd say he was working on the new FM album if they were planning that. I agree that it's probably a path of least resistance approach. That might even allow it to be released a lot soon than if it has the FM label attached, but it's a bit sad if they feel like they can't use the moniker. They would be completely legitimate to do so.

Regardless, as long as it comes out and has the 4 of them, I'll be excited to hear it.

Then it looks like FM minus Stevie. Then reporters inevitably will ask in screaming headlines, Has Stevie Nicks Been Kicked Out of Fleetwood Mac?? I think even if there are just pics of Lindsey and Christine it'll create some churn because they're 2 of the 3 songwriters in the band.

Reporter: "So why did you feel the need to go off and record this without Stevie?"
Then they have to do the diplomatic dance: "Well, we had always wanted to record with Stevie but she had a solo album she wanted to promote, she had set that aside when Christine came back, and we support her in doing that but we had started working on new songs together and thought they deserved to be heard" blah blah blah.

The really interesting bit will be when the press inevitably goes to Stevie and asks for a quote from her about the album. That's when it could get fun. What will she say? "I wanted to do my solo work, you know I've had to put aside my solo work so many times for Fleetwood Mac and I'm 68 years old and really believed in my album and wanted to promote it while I could." And then this could be where she changes her tune and makes a more dramatic version of events and says "I'm sad they didn't want to wait for me" .....and if so I hope someone reminds her that she said she didn't really think she wanted to record with them any more.

Oh, the drama, people, the drama that is to come.

He will be in trouble with no guiding light of Rudolph's red nose.I see that here.Santa is afraid to say."YOUR FIRED" and cancel Christmas delivery.Maybe Mick has that feeling too.

I dont know what are the legal and contract deals with the Mac brand name and its members but it should be up to Mick and John with their band name. They have not change their name for almost 50 years when members come and go.If Stevie leaves .The name could stay the same If John retires and as long as Chris stays with the band .They maybe can go on with the FM name.I would keep the will established name this late in the game almost 50 years in existence.

I think Stevie not being there could be an interesting PR angle or hook. Certainly the album would receive critical attention, in part because it is a Fleetwood Mac album, but also because it a Fleetwood Mac WITHOUT a key member. Reviewers will enjoy writing about it because there will at least be something to say about it without having to try too hard. (Remember all those SYW reviews that reviewed the music and considered the absence of Christine's effect on that music?)

There would be photo ops of the four of them--or at least I imagine there would be. I don't think the tour would be well attended, no matter how it was spun. Small venues would be safest and least embarrassing. But the actual music in the tour would likely be pretty fascinating.

Chris and Mick would be diplomatic: "We would have LOVED Stevie to participate, but..." Lindsey would likely talk about the advantage of her not being there, as he did about Christine in her absence.

Stevie would probably shrug off the album as a good little project and then talk more about the upcoming tour of the five of them. I'm only imagining this: of all the variables you mentioned, this one seems the most unpredictable to me.

That's exactly why they should call it Fleetwood Mac. No matter how it comes out -Fleetwood Mac, Mac Lite, Buckingham McVie, dual solo albums- Stevie's lack of participation will be the elephant in the room, so why piss over semantics? Call it what it is.

Could it be they aren't calling it fleetwood mac because johns not on most of the songs? I could be wrong but I thought only Chris Lindsey and mick were in the studio last.

Not certain about the material they did (relatively) recently with Christine, but I'm pretty sure Lindsey cut about 6-8 songs a couple of years previously with Mick and John. If they did in fact do some studio work in October as they said they would I have no reason to believe John wouldn't have been there. If anything, perhaps it would have been an opportunity to add John's bass if he had been missing from the previous sessions LC&M did.

We are all speculating and having fun writing about our assumptions. But just imagine IF:

Stevie officially declines to contribute anything to the new record

Mick and Christine feel its wrong to release it "now" without Stevie with the group
and shelve the album for awhile

The group does their "final" tour without any new music

The recorded songs are often spoken about but they don't get officially released.

ALL these things are quite possible. I used to say 100% Stevie contributes to the new album. I now say its 50/50. I do not see the band doing any shows without Stevie as much as I would LOVE to see it.

Yeah quite possible - and the worst case scenario.

Let's be positive and hope Christine and Lindsey push out their album and tour it for us and for the art and relevance. Yeah pr will be non existing because these are probably the worst 2 fm members, not counting John, as far as marketing goes. Nobody will know that album is out or that there's a tour but the most ardent fans, and we will have a cheap front row seats to something that might easily be historic! So how great would that be for fans?!

To me, the final nail in the coffin for a new Fleetwood Mac-branded album was when Stevie extended her solo tour into 2017. That action alone told us everything we needed to know. She's not going to be a part of the album, period.

Regardless of our wildest hopes, this album that Christine and Lindsey are working on will not surface with the name Fleetwood Mac on it. The only way I possibly see any of their material surfacing with the Fleetwood Mac name on it would be an online-only EP release prior to the next 5 fireflies tour.

Now do I see Lindsey and Christine releasing a duet album? I think that's entirely possible, and I hold out hope for that. Would they tour behind it? Possibly an abbreviated theater tour. This sort of tour would undoubtedly get rave reviews from fans and critics alike. The likelihood of both happening seems a bit far fetched given the clock is ticking and the next FM tour is fast approaching, though.

Exactly. I don't see how there is time to do everything now. I don't see how they could have time to rehearse and conduct a short tour (without Stevie) prior to the huge world tour. It takes so much time to rehearse, get promotions, book hotels, etc. Its quite possible the "new album" will be pushed until another day well after the world tour.
Its a shame because I wanted a FULL and REAL album. But now it could be an EP.
I hope I am wrong but I see the worst case scenario happening. But lets remember, this is Fleetwood Mac after all. I do agree with you that with Stevie extending her solo tour well into 2017 says she wants nothing to do with the band until the big tour rehearsals. I am optimistic but its getting hard to stay that way. I just feel so bad for Christine. She is so full of life and wants a Mac album before the tour. There have not been any reports of the Mac members working. I think they have shelved everything until maybe someday finish these songs. Maybe Mick was right when he hinted and doubted the songs may never be heard.

FM only had only one number one hit back in the 1970's which was Stevie's "Dreams" .Hum...What happen with their other tunes and why they tanked before they got up into the single digits. If this upcoming album if without Stevie on it becomes an EP. Only because it started out as a solo project, and he started recording it when there was a shakeup at WB. He basically sat on the project while waiting to see what was going on with the label. Considering he became a father in this time, I doubt he worked as much on SYW as he did OOTC.

oh I get all that, but the amount of time spent recording just Stevie's stuff and then having her record on his stuff while short for FM standards was the time a lot of other bands could do a whole album from start to finish.

you have to remember that if it's a small Christine-Lindsey tour, they don't need large venues so they have more choices. and as for the other time consuming questions:

promotion: they will be doing next to no promotion. in FM, the band and especially Stevie are the masters of promotion. some savvy social media promotion would be nice and cheap though!! (I can dream)

record company: if they are self-releasing, which seems the most plausible, they don't have to negotiate with record companies, so that can go fast too.

rehearsal time: Lindsey solo would announce tour dates about a month or so before the start of the tour. when he did Saban with a better part of his setlist being all new songs, he and the band rehearsed about 3 weeks, if i remember correctly.

She doesn't have a bad attitude. What she does have is a hugely successful solo career that doesn't involve Lindsey Buckingham nit-picking at her every move. If you haven't noticed, she's currently having a blast performing solo to crowds of up to 20,000 people in packed out arenas. Good on her. She's too old to do stuff she doesn't want to do.

It's called ignorance.

Or lack of interest.

If Stevie's having a ball on her own, great. If her only interest in FM are greatest hit tours that allow her to rake in more millions doing the same songs over and over, that's another story. Many of the fans want new music. Her resistance to it is beyond frustrating. The rest of the band's seeming refusal to move on is also beyond frustrating.

I agree James.I dont see any hate for Stevie on this tour and no nit-picking from others as she does great with a new setlist.Sorry to be blunt .We should move on with this issue and not dictate what they should do in their life"All of Mac members " at that age.Why we have to continue to dwell on this topic all the time on here.We are so lucky to have all of them alive as others are passing on like most resent loss was Greg Lake of ELP .We may not like what they do in their life but just be happy that we still have them alive on earth with us.

I don't hate Stevie, but I think she should either leave the band, take a hiatus from the band in a way that allows them to make music as a band without her, or just give them two or three songs.

I think Fleetwood Mac could function as a creative entity for a few more albums if Stevie wasn't in the band. I think she's holding them back. As a fan of Christine, Lindsey, John, and Mick, I am frustrated that they're going out of their way to accommodate her, allowing years to go by without a new album. Now I don't blame Stevie entirely, I thought they should have gone on as Buckingham Fleetwood McVie without her, but it taints my opinion of her.

yes. we could have already had at least 2 more albums, and another one in the making. instead, we have been waiting for the same album since 2009. band could have had so much larger creative legacy and longer catalog.

Woohoo!!! So they are recording something at the moment. Hopefully they have been for over a month. Stevie doesn't start the tour back up gain until February 23rd so she has time for a Christmas break and over a month to go in and record stuff. God I hope this happens.

Why would they need to be in the studio together for the Tango reissue? They did no further work as part of the Tusk and Mirage deluxe sets (and had little or no involvement in their creation in general). Definitely in the studio for the new material. Weren't they supposed to be going into the studio at the start of October? Hopefully they've been there straight through until now.

exactly. at the same time when they very very clear they are finishing their NEW album?

David Wild's liner notes might be for some old reissue or for this new album, but Mick and Lindsey in the studio has nothing to do with any old reissue.

I think it's just because Lindsey's there and one of his music affiliations is Buckingham Nicks.

that would be nice. it would also mean she was lying in her interview last week.

it's more plausible they are actually practically done with recording, as Christine said they would be, after going back to studio in october. i hope they are in engineering/mastering phase and this album comes out early spring 2017.

She's signed on for a show in July with Tom Petty. I think the real reason she doesn't want to record is that she's older and alone.. She craves the adulation from her fans to fill the void. It's her "family". The attention is all she's about these days and could care less about the art anymore.
