this is fantastic, thanks so much for generously sharing these! Somehow I felt the Bella Donna notes gave me more insight into what was going on...the WH notes were more fragmented...they glossed over her issues with Jimmy and some other stuff..but I guess that's a good reflection of how fragmented the making of that album was.

Oh how interesting. I remember in Carol Ann Harris' book she talked about when Jimmy was there and how it was somewhat tense since he was a producer. I don't remember her mentioning that there was an almost fight though.
Wonder if it was Lindsey's revenge for Stevie going ballistic on Carol Ann during the Tusk tour haha.

Both are true:

"This particular song was written because Christine and John were breaking up. And she was very upset. And this was in the very beginning of Fleetwood Mac, and we had no wardrobe mistresses, no makeup artists... it was just us. And so she and I just had eachother to lean on. All over the country, alone. And so I was really her backbone for a few weeks in that period of time. Oh, and it turned around many times... but that was when I wrote that song. I didn't want her to leave, you know? And I was telling myself 'don't leave,' too. We knew... I mean, 'what are you going to do, Chris, what am I going to do? Work in a restaurant?' It's ridiculous. We can't give all this up... the music is fabulous, we can't just give it up because our men are messing up our lives."

Thank you so much for posting this! So much insight on the inspiration and making of these two albums...

I like what Jimmy said about crafting a distinctive sound for Stevie with notable musicians rather than studio musicians who could play on anything. I think that is what is missing on 24KG at the very least.

The Wuthering Heights quotes are heartbreaking. :distress:

I thought so, I remember reading more than one quote from her like that. She said she wrote it for Chris when she was sad. Stevie's stories change over the years I've noticed.

Thanks for these, very interesting. The bit about Lori pushing her to get the high notes during Wild Heart is significant as her range seemed to magically extend then, including her highest ever note sang on Wild Heart, a top E. Just needs a little encouragement then. I see she's stopped doing the "Go Home" on the current tour.

I seem to recall someone, like maybe Danny Goldberg, saying that Stevie and Jimmy met in LA, and they took a walk along the beach talking and stuff so she could get a feel for if they could work together, and they came back and she had decided they could. Bit different from the meeting in NYC and having dinner......

And the "little" 3 necklace made of diamonds.... I don't think it was so "little" from the pics I saw...

I wish we had more information on that house! That was the most interesting part to me was hearing her take about Sable on Blonde and sitting between her two pianos.
