This song better be including in Stevie's next solo album. How awesome would this be for a closer on her next record? I would die- I love this song! I think it is my favorite Stevie song period. That includes regular released songs, demos, boots, ets. Christian beats everything! I'd really be interested to see how this song sounds now (with her huskier voice). And if she wasn't planning on putting this on a record in the future then she should have cleaned up the demo and put it on the Enchanted box set. I assume the reason she didn't put most of her demos on the box set is because she plans on rerecording them one day. For the next record I am hoping for Christian, Space Needle, My Heart, and Without You (with Lindsey) to surface.

Christian is so beautiful and intense, I'd hope it to be on next Stevie album too, even if I don't know why, I doubt it would happen. Can you imagine her singing it live? It would be magic.

Hey,
Could someone post the lyrics for those of us that have never heard the song? Thanks :)

From Nancy's site:
Written by S. Nicks
So in your laughter, you do scream
And within your screams you do pretend
You ask of me, ask of me nothing
On your terms we're no longer friends
Harder hard luck stories
Have been told down through the years
Spinning wheels
Crystal perfection
Not to be confused with the tears
Oh, Christian
What about your sad, wild dreams?
What kind of feelings do you feel for me?
Do you cherish all those memories?
What kind of feelings do you feel for me?
Half past one, and the street lamps darken
Can you regard that woman as you regard yourself?
With the faith of a child...have you given enough?
Have you given too much?
Oh, Christian
What about your sad, wild dreams?
What kind of feelings do you feel for me?
Sweet things that we live for
They say that dreams are made of them
Echoes of a lonely, lonely time
Sing to me a recurring line
No quiet cries...something that was
No quiet cries for us
But it was only love, wasn't it?
Only love, wasn't it?
It was only love, wasn't it?
Only love
Sweet things that we live for
But it was only love

Anyone know when this was written? It sounds like something that could have been on Tusk.

Does everyone else's copy of Christian have a hissing sound or a static sound or is it just my copy? I would really love to listen to the song without the background hissing sound.

I usually call the song, Spinning Wheels, it's a more awseome title and is often called that. And I like the song, but think Mistaken Love is FAR better.

Yup mine does too - it's not very good quality.
I really hope that Stevie will record this one someday as well, even though she plagarized T.S. Elliot in the song...

Thanks for posting the lyrics, Curtis. I had never read them before and they're beautiful! I definitely want that one to be on Stevie's next album!

Thanks for posting the lyrics, I really like the song, hope she records it one of these days for an album... :) I'm guessing the TS Elliot part is the "sad wild dreams?"

Well, could be - but I'm reffering to the "half past one, and the streelamp darkens..regard.." part. Straight out of "Rhapsody on A Windy Night"

"Echoes of a lonely, lonely time
Sing to me ~ a recurring line."
I have been obsessed with that demo for months now. Just her piano and her peak early 80s voice. Beautiful, haunting and absolutely heartbreaking.
I've always wondered what would it have turned into if it had been chosen for Bella Donna. Part of me thinks nothing can equal that demo ~ a fully produced song would have taken something away from it.
Who else is a fan? Also, has Stevie ever said anything about it? I'm curious to know who it is about, though I have a strong feeling it is Mick.

Hello this is a wonderful thread. Christian is my number one stevie nicks song that is unreleased. I have to play it at least once a day and have since i heard it for the first time when a friend put it on a mix cd for me. So i am very much a fan just like you. :)
I agree that it probably wouldn't be as stunning in a completed form, say if it were to appear on her next cd. This demo is so fragile and perfect the way it is.

"Spinning Wheels" is most definitely a song that needs to be revisited for either SFTV part 2 or the new Fleetwood Mac album.
I would even go as far as saying that it's one out of maybe 15 or 20 demos left in her vault that are still worthy of making it onto an album. :sorry:
Like I've said before, if she does this "Vault Song concept album" again, she only needs to do it one more time. I feel a "part 3" would just be scraping the bottom of the barrel.

That is a nice alternate but still does not capture the spirit of the original. The original is simpler.

What's with bumping these old ass threads?
I don't mind people bumping old threads in order to come back and discuss a topic that hasn't been discussed in awhile...
...but there's LITERALLY a new "Christian (Spinning Wheels)" Appreciation Thread that Nicholasjz posted a couple of days ago. It's like 15 or so threads down. So I don't understand why an older Christian thread from 12 years ago was bumped up.

I bumped it because the lyrics were included in this thread. I only heard of this song through this board, and was curious as to why it was so well liked.
If someone doesn't care for a topic, they could just skip it

Or the moderators could just merge the threads?
