With opening night of,the tour less then a week away I've been trying to ask, myself, what exactly it would take for Stevie to "meet expectations" for the MANY promises she has made building this tour up. Not,exceed them or a dream scenerio. What is the minimum stevie has do for,you not,be disappointed. For me:

she has to play two of the many songs she's rattled off: Wild Heart, Bella Donna, trouble in Shangri la rooms on fire etc. need to actually make it to the set. No,articles in,early November about how you rehearsed all of these songs and some just didn't work and you had a nightmare on October 21st about that horrible night,in 1976 when you played too much rumours and you forever have to be pretend that is,at all a relevant or sane excuse!

2. The right selection of 24KG songs. Like,I said in the other thread 24 KG is way different then IYD for me. I feel that when ranking all,of her albums I would put 24kg one notch ahead,of IYD. I liked, every single song on IYD, a few more Then others but honestly she could've played any 6 out of 12(not counting Cheaper then Free songs, and I'd be equally excited To see any of them live. With 24KG there are around 5 songs I REALLY want her to do and the rest not so much. Even songs I like a lot like hard advice for example. Its a,really great song, both I,have no desire to see,it live. Luckily for me, Stevie generally comes, thru for me on,choosing my favorites from, her newest albums this century. If everthing goes, according to my plan she'll do

1. Mable Normand
2. Starshine
3. 24KG
4 all the beautiful worlds
5. I Don't Care

6.,Twisted

As far as "meeting expectations all she has to do on this front for me Is A. Simply play Mable Normand and and I'm good or B. If MN Is NOT played,,she will, have to play 3 of the other 5 listed.

3. Pick a good opening song!
I'll forgive her messing this up if all is great with the show, but to me at least there are only 4 acceptable openers and they are

A. Starshine, the opening song from 24 KG is one of the most hard hitting energy packed, song she's ever released. It's the most logical, way to open the show. Its,how a lot of artists including Lindsey start their shows. Plus I think the, first song is a,great place to put an unkown song, because people are, excited by the the mere presence of,stevie taking the stage to any rocking beat. I know your, not trying,to sell, albums necessarily but this would, move the needle even if just very slightly. People, may go home wondering "what was that kick ass opening song
B. I can't Wait, it may not be from the new album but it would be a,bigger, suprise and would pump the sh*t out of,the crowd. Stevie can, cheat her way out of the song, I do,t care. The instuments alone, are, enough to carry the so,g. Stevie, can let the back up,singers do,most of the work, and, throw us one good, wail or so.ethi,g to make,up for,the undeniable drastic changing of most of the song to,suit her voice.
C. 24KG, identical reasoning as starshine. But instead of starting with straight ahead rocker, we start with a long bass build,up the pitch clack until the the lights all come,on to the piano and, guitar intro.
D. Ghosts, are Gone or Fall,From Grace. Along the same logic as Starshine and I have to give Stevie herself credit for me even thinking of these songs since she opened with FFG on those 5 random shows in 2010 and I thought it was a great decision. And whether you like the song or not there is no denying the opening riff to Ghosts are Gone is an incredible way to start any concert. Fall from Grace is obviously far more likely since I think in Stevie's mind is a modern day equivalent to Outside the Rain

E. rooms on fire- kind of like this is the non 24KG alternative to opening the show dark and mysteriously. Basically for me rooms on fire is equal to 24KG while I Cant Wait is equal to Starshine.
F. Absolutely not Enchanted, Rock and Roll, OTR, SDMHA or even Stand Back but i'd except stand back just to please the giant arena plus it'll have to played anyway, just way less ideal then my other options

4. ONE song that is truly a suprise. Now,this maybe very unfair to Stevie but her doing the wild, heart will, now no longer satisfy this requirement. Since it has been mentioned in articles. So yes I give her, mad, props for,the wild, heart, but I want just one song to be done Tuesday that no,one could've predicted. Nothing on 24KG or IYD count here either because we know she wants to do a lot from those 2,albums. Stevie says there is a 31 song list. And I'm sure daddy will suggest a few more during rehearsals. There has to be a,son or 2 completely out of,left, field on that last. Something along the lines of,blue lamp, gold, and, braid, kind oy ,woman, no spoken word, sable,on blone, nogjtbird, Nothing ever changes, imperial hotel. I don't even care if it's a song I don't like. Just truly shock me!

5. The alternative set promise, if this one comes,to,frution then Id almost say that nothing above, matters. If she follows thru on changing the set from, show to show then stevie, will meet,my expectations.

I'm not setting my expectations too high. It IS Stevie, after all.

But to answer your question, "What is the MINIMUM she has to do in order for me NOT to be disappointed?"

1. As much as I'd LOVE to hear her perform all three title tracks to BD, WH and TISL, I'll be happy if she AT LEAST performs ONE of them. My 7 year old self is rooting for "Wild Heart" but there's a part of me who would rather hear what "TISL" could sound like, live. It would certainly suit her voice better. But whatever the case, if she keeps her promise and just picks ONE of those three, I'll be happy.

2. She HAS to do "24KG" - It's the name of her tour, for goodness sake, and it's the best song on the album next to ATBW, in my opinion.

3. One or two more songs that she either hasn't performed in quite a long time (Think About It/Rooms On Fire) or that she hasn't ever performed at all.

THAT'S IT for me. Like I said, I'm not setting my expectations to high. I fear that just those three things I listed are STILL too much to ask from her.

I'm really hoping for some nice surprises. Guess we'll find out in six days.

1) Bella Donna or, as second best, Wild Heart. She put this idea in my mind and now I can't keep it out. I want to hear them.
2) Mabel Normand, it's her favourite track on the 24K Gold album and this tour is for the 24K Gold album. If she doesn't do this song I'm surprised.

that was just one of probably 50 errors in that long post. I don't apologize tho, since that whole thing was done on a cell phone that i want to throw across the room on a daily basis just when sending simple two sentences texts. There is a giant blue line across my screen plus the auto correct changes things on me that make no sense. Believe me I've tried to turn it off. I've since moved to my iPad now that I'm home so I've gone back and corrected a bit. But if anyone responds to my long thread that I spent such a long time on with a remark about a spelling, grammar or other error they will be forever blocked from me! (kidding...kind of, i'd just be really pissed!) your fine sorcerer because you also responded with real content first

On that note, would it be possible for a moderator to change the title? It was meant to be "What is your minimum requirements to be satisfied with this tour

Only one- I would be thrilled if she kept the FM songs down to 2 per show. She's already said she's touring with FM next year, so she can sing her FM songs then. Zero would be better but if she kept it down to 2, that would be awesome!

I will be happy with a refreshed setlist qnd grabbing the mic and working the stage a bit

if i had a say

Starshine would make a great opener it has a 70's vibe and is fast to get the audience going

No mac Dreams is ok it is her highest achievement and I still enjoy it

one or more of the title songs or new to the stage

All the Beautiful Worlds would be nice

no "marble notmand " :] not my favorite

drop the "edge walk thing " takes to much time / work the stage with a mic in hand or head set

lady as a closer just her alone like in the video with a video playing in the back of her career and all the picture she inherited from Herbie

I agree with that and will take it a step further and say I hope she abandons this "medley" idea she's been floating. I'd rather she pick one song and go with it rather then do shortened versions of all 3. I also feel the same way about which one I want her to do. Wild Heart tops the list for sure, but I almost would prefer TISL But is a win-win whichever she picked between those 2. Bella Donna is a very distant third choice but I also feel like that would be easiest on her and would get the best audience reaction.

I hope she abandons this "medley" idea she's been floating. .

if done right she can do all of them , cut out the hard parts and give us a bit of them all

like CHER did she dropped all these songs from her set ( added back for the Believe tour) all 3 in 4 :20

she thought no one wanted to " hear some really old $7!t"

and if Stevie did them acoustically even better , Dolly still does it too and I've seen KISS do it it a way to squeeze in songs especially if they are tired of them

If Stevie put in her setlist:

STRAIGHT BACK, SABLE ON BLONDE, NOTHING EVER CHANGES AND I CAN'T WAIT (again)

I would be one happy ROCKER!

Honestly I'm satisfied with her embarking on another solo tour. I will be satisfied, and very happy the minute she walks on stage. Everything else is gravy. For once, I have zero expectations.

I don't understand this mentality, from either fans or the artist.

She *doesn't* have to play to the people who came to hear Landslide. All she *has* to do is show up and play, and she can play whatever she wants. Her tickets have sold well. The seats will be filled. She can and should play whatever she wants. She's earned it. And the fair-weather fans can suck it up and hear a new song or two.

What this tour really needs is a new musical director. Waddy holds Stevie back from trying new things. This is evident in comments she has made about this tour.

i agree .

i have a friend who had a fit after we went to see Madonna the drowned world tour and has to this day not let up that she " ignored the hits and sang a lot of songs he did not know ( we have not been to a show since ) .. He asked me to get him a ticket to Stevie I showed him the interview and he not going ( thankfully ) because she might sing unfamiliar songs

Here are mine:

- Bella Donna AND Wild Heart
- At least 4 songs from 24 KG
- At least one attempt to go outside her vocal comfort zone, whether that's reaching a high note or doing some softer delivery or just... not straight granny shout. :)

That's it to keep me from disappointment. Everything else would qualify as wish list!

That is a major factor in why I love going to see Madonna. I love her "been there, done that" attitude when it comes to her set-lists. Sure, she has her staples like Vogue and Like A Prayer, but they're almost always re-invented. She wants to give the crowd something they haven't seen or heard before, and that's great.

And of all tours to complain about - Drowned World was her first chance to perform material from Bedtime Stories, Ray of Light and Music. Of course she wasn't going to try to relive her 80s glory days when she had three un-toured albums to draw from.

Of course, I do not expect Stevie to follow suit, and just a few different songs would make me very happy. But to those folks that complain about an artist not performing the hits, I say this: Concerts are for fans. To us fans, those unfamiliar songs *are* hits.

She could just sing whatever she wanted, it's true. But she's not immune to audience reaction and if there was a song where people got restless and started going to the restroom that would impact her and make the show not as much fun for her. To her credit, she has stuck with some songs even when they got a lackluster response. I have predicted that they would get dropped early in a tour, but she held onto them. But she's not going to load her set with too many of those. Not all artists have this attitude and get antsy when the audience is not as responsive, but she does.

I suppose. She *has* often told the tale of how sensitive she and FM were to audience reaction.

It just surprises me because, as someone who has over the years talked on many occasions about the songs she'd like to do live, or that she *will do someday* I would expect her to have already reached the point where she feels she can do the show her way. If she never lets go of that insecurity over audience restlessness during an obscure song, she'll never be able to live out all those songs on stage that she has, perhaps, wanted to.

Let me add that I would be "over the moon" if she performed "Watch Chain"!!! I know it will never happen since it was simply a B-Side...but it seems like it would be easy for her to sing, seeing as how there are no really high parts for her to hit. Plus, it's just a damn fun and rocking song to sing along to. :D

I think it would translate really well in a live setting!

My expectations are on the low side as I have to be realistic. If she performed "Bella Donna", "Wild Heart" and "Trouble In Shangri-La", I would be blown away. However, my greatest wish is that she ditches "Soldier's Angel" - forever. If she is foolish enough to do it on the first show, let's hope she gets such a negative response that she vows never to attempt it again. Oh and also, it would be immensely gratifying if she were able to sing in key, even for just a few minutes. Of course, I don't really expect any of my wishes to come true...

Good because that's exactly what she's gonna wear the entire night, 1 black dress. Or she might change into a different black dress that looks exactly like the first black dress. :laugh:This is what I don't get. If you're gonna bother to change clothes, make it worth it to the audience. Change into something that people can determine is indeed a new, different outfit. There is absolutely no point in changing into an outfit that is so similar to the first that nobody can tell you've changed or doesn't care because it provides no visual diversity, excitement or flair.
