Why not- it could happen and anyway, it's fun to imagine. Besides remastering the original album, I would include on disc 2 Real Tears (B side to Two Kinds of Love) and the Tragedy of One's Own Soul. Maybe Desirree or Intuition, the two songs she did with Rick Vito for his solo album around 1991?

Anyone know other songs or outtakes that could be included?

Doing The Best That I Can (live piano version)

The two versions of "Impossible Task" that have circulated over the years have completely "zoned out" and "uninspired" vocals. Undoubtedly the Klonopin taking hold. However, the lyrics are beautiful and the arrangement is stunning. It's almost set up like a duet, as if someone else should have been singing with her during the final verse where the previous lyrics overlap each other. On both of these demos, Stevie sings both parts. If there is a better version somewhere, with a more "inspired" vocal  then I'd love for it to show up on the bonus disc if ever TOSOTM gets the deluxe treatment.

Then of course you have the "Long Way To Go" 12" Remix that MUST go on there!

I'd love for any alternate versions of "Ooo, My Love" and "Doing The Best I Can" which are, in my opinion, the two best songs on the record. And of course, like the "Wild Heart" bonus disc, I'd love for her to surprise us with some unknown and/or unexpected songs that we never knew she had recorded for this project. :D

I've heard tour rehearsals for Ooh My Love and Long Way to Go- it would be nice to have those two songs, since she's never actually performed them live.

She really sounded good this tour. I would love a live CD.
I think there is a Long Way To Go remix that was released in Japan.

ABSOLUTELY ! They actually sounded very good, even though they were from rehearsals.

Stevie quite likes this album. I hated it on first listen when it was released but I've slowly warmed to it. There are a number of good tracks: ROF, WLT, OOh My Love, Ghosts, Fire Burning, Alice, Long Way To Go, DTBIC....

I'm thinking since Stevie is fond of her first four albums she is probably, more then likely, reissue all of them and eventually TISL and In Your Dreams. Her disdain for Street Angel might prevent her from reissue it although I'd love a remastered version of "Mirror, Mirror" that was recorded for it.

I remember Stevie saying in an interview that Other Side of the Mirror was her father's least favorite album by her up to that point. Not sure why.

Weird as Stevie has made her feelings about this album very well known. She loves it.

Does she?

Not doubting it, just skeptical considering how neglected it's been onstage for nearly 20 years...

I always thought this album was more honest, or accessible, to her fans. Long Way to Go, Ooh My Love, Ghosts, and especially Doing the Best That I Can have some of Stevie's most revealing lyrics, and certainly her darkest, so I can see why this album could be important to her. And, ironically, why it was her father's least favorite, for those same reasons.

I find many of the known OSOTM outtakes to be quite atrocious. Dial The Number, Don't Treat Me Like A Stranger, The Tragedy of One's Own Soul. Lily Girl.

Seriously awful stuff.

But there are some other songs speculated to be from this era that I'd love to see on a deluxe package, like:

*Beautiful Ghost
*Impossible Task
*Prettiest Girl In The World
*Love Don't Fail Me Now (one of my favorite unreleased tracks)
*At The Fair

I can see the Kenny G tracks being included. Stevie basically gave birth to his career by scrubbing both songs that were over the sax track that later became his signature breakthrough song. I'm sure it will boost album sales when all 5 Kenny G fans rush to purchase an album with his music on it. ;)

Fill me in on this one how Stevie gave birth to Kenny G's career. I never heard that one before. I think she killed his career
He was already huge and in Stevie's own words....she was on tour with the Mac when his "Songbird" was a huge hit. She said she was captivated and instantly made the point to include him on her next solo record.

Doing the Best I Can is, hands down, the most underrated song in Stevie's entire career. It's never been performed in concert, it's never been on a compilation, it's basically never been mentioned by her. I understand that she probably doesn't want to revisit that period in her life, but that doesn't change the fact that the song itself is a very strong artistic statement.

I could not agree with you more. The song sometimes take a beating in this forum but its brilliant. The hypnotic feel to the rhythm fits the song so well. Such brutal honesty in writing. Usually only Lindsey can take lyrics like that and put them to some good music.
Listen to the song with headphones on. So much going on from ear to ear. Its one of my favorites for sure!

Yuck! I wouldn't call it a song. It's a chorus repeated over and over again, surrounded by cheap synthesizers.

In fact, this album is an embarrassment. This album along with Street Angel are hopefully the bottom of her barrel. Almost ruined her career.

There's an honesty to this song that is raw and haunting... usually Stevie is cryptic but not with Doing the Best That I Can. The production seems a bit crowded, but the lyrics and Stevie's voice elevate it to large degree. I think Stevie would blow this song away live. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who likes the song.

Here is a video from a TV special that was aired in the UK about the release of "TOSOTM". She talks about the meaning of the song and then, about the 1:45 mark, she sits at the piano and plays the whole song with Sharon and Lori harmonizing. It's gorgeous!

To me, it is hands down the BEST song on the record. It's an album where half the songs are good and half the songs are bad (in my opinion) and a handful of songs are just MAGIC (Rooms On Fire, Ooo, My Love, Long Way To Go and Doing The Best I Can)!!!

Ummmm, because it sucked.

Well, there's no accounting for taste, Gary!:xoxo: This seems to be the first album in her back catalog that gets such a huge marginal division of criticism. I think even more so than "Street Angel".

Sorcerer, you just named my favorite songs on that album! I would also add I Still Miss Someone, because it's a great song to close with and pretty poignant. I like Alice and Two Kinds of Love ok, but the rest of the songs I dislike. Definitely a 50/50 for me, as well. What I love, I really love, but what I dislike, I really dislike.
