I was watching the today show and they said that Stevie Nicks on the cover of Rolling Stone was one of highest selling magazines they sold that year at 62,000 copies. I guess that's a lot for magazines these days huh? They showed the cover of the magazine and said a little blurb about Stevie. I thought that was pretty cool!
Also did anybody catch Don Henley on Howard last week? My hubby said he asked about Stevie but that he didnt say too much.

I listened to Don on Stern. Simply amazing interview. The only time Stevie came up was about Witchy Woman. Stern asked if it was about Stevie and he said NO. It was about some girl he knew who made candles and laughed like a witch. But Don and Howard laughed that in the early and mid-70's many girls pretended to be witches. It was the cool and in thing to do.
Don talked about Life in the Fast lane and its not written about Stevie and Lindsey either. Don a few times told Howard he did not want to talk about the women in his life. Joe Walsh was talked about a lot and how Joe played the guitar solo on Dirty Laundry and did the guitar for Life in the Fast lane. Joe was so proud of his guitar on Life in the fast lane now I understand why he opened with the song in 1983 during Stevie's tour. Even though Joe does not sing the song, he did the music and its part his song. So much talking about Joe that I wanted Stern to ask about both him and Joe dating Stevie at different times.
Don is amazing and I encourage anyone to listen to his incredible interview about early Eagles and solo stuff. Don loves Tom Petty too. Petty passed on Boys of Summer and Don decided to record it.

Thank you so much for sharing this information! It's interesting how Don has done an about face in regards to talking about the women in his life. He's never had any qualms discussing anyone and everyone before- often skewering them. I'm also glad to hear he debunked the Life In The Fast Lane myth as well. I never believed that song was about Stevie and Lindsey.

Here's the article:
http://www.adweek.com/news-gallery/press/best-and-worst-selling-magazine-covers-2015-168609
The caption under Stevie's cover says:
Newsstand sales: 64,125
Judging by its best-performing issues—the top three featured Stevie Nicks, Rush and SNL's John Belushi—Rolling Stone's audience would rather reminisce about classic acts than catch up with today's musical stars.

Also, can a moderator correct the title of this thread (to "Nicks")? My OCD is killing me right now. :wavey:

She had the top selling cover. That is good news. Maybe they will feature her more.

That's cool news that she had the top Rolling Stone cover, but by the comparisons of the other "Best Selling" magazines, Rolling Stone just doesn't sell a lot of magazines anymore. The other covers sold much higher volume; Vanity Fair sold 400,000, People Magazine sold 804,122, and Life & Style hit 262,100. Even the worst selling covers sold so much more than Rolling Stone best cover.

Rolling stone is not a glamour, gossip magazine. It's more specific. Not a fair comparison.

Sure it is. Rolling Stone is a glamour and gossip magazine focusing on music. This Nicks cover is the first issue I bought in years and years and thought it was quite a fluff magazine and is somewhat irrelevant now.

Umm, it's a current events magazine which yes, has a music emphasis, but also covers lots of political, social, and scientific issues. Some of the contributors are quite highly regarded, and they are frequently recognized for journalistic excellence. It's not for everybody, but it isn't fluff.

No it's not. It's not as general as the other magazines and will have less readership.

It's also shrank considerably. I too bought the Nicks copy and wondered where the rest of the magazine was. I guess when magazines stop selling they get smaller.

TV Guide went the opposite and got bigger and thinner and turn into fluff crap mag.It cost to much for paper or they are going green to save trees.I think its the cost of paper.

I do enjoy the political ,social, and scientific issues. It must be the geek in me.
I heard Playboy is giving up the nudes. They will be closing up shop soon after it looses its subscribers. They also had good political, social, and scientific issues too.

I agree.Last night as I was going through some stuff.I found a RS 1979 year end issue .It was great looking at it.It has Mac in it about Tusk .Today's version is like more like MTV with all the fluff crap and adverts .TV Guide is in the same boat. The Internet killed sales on them which is doing the same with other Mags and newspapers.
