To be honest i think you're on the money, the only thing i was thinking was Sara for Gypsy.... either way I'm jumping out of my skin with excitement today....
What am i going to ask Mick..:blob2:
Mr Scarrott
10-21-2015, 04:47 PM
I would go for Sara over SOTM, Brown Eyes for Over my head, and maybe Monday Morning instead of Second Hand News . Lindsey's going to want to carry on making his speech and then having I know I'm not wrong with his massive head looming over the band to echo his own sentiments....
But we shall see. When I met Mick, I asked him if they would play Why again. But on that, I know that I am wrong.

I am so happy about Sara. Its one of Chris's favorite songs to perform live. I am just a bit sad it was not played so I could hear it live with Christine and the entire Mac together. But still thrilled.

I wish it was Stand Back over Sara. It would be nice if she took out SOTM, put Sara in that spot and kept Seven Wonders.
I don't have high hopes for the Christine slot, but maybe it's Hold Me? That would be wild. The game changer here will be Lindsey's song. I hope it's something different than Eyes of the World.

Ahhh you guys are so lucky!!! Why didn't they do Sara in America?!?!?!? I'm looking forward to the videos on YouTube at least. Is the theory that each one is switching a song? I wonder what Lindsey's and Christine's will be. Christine's I feel like it might be Oh Daddy for some reason. I don't think they'll touch any of her Tusk or Mirage stuff. If you guys get Hold Me that would be so unfair. Sara and Hold Me are my two favorite songs ever.

The return to the line-up of McVie’s ex-wife, singer and keyboardist Christine, 72, who parted ways with Fleetwood Mac in 1998 and was retired from the music business, has been described by guitarist Lindsey Buckingham as “really beautiful”. Buckingham also quit the band for 16 years from 1987 to 2003.

They're using 2003 as the point where he returned for Say You Will and tour. But he returned for The Dance so 1987-1997 is the correct time period.

Since these are substitutions, and not additions or deletions, there's no reason to assume it's one per writer. I wouldn't be surprised if both Sara and Stand Back return to the set.

Fleetwood Mac’s John McVie: This might be my final tour
TWO years after pulling the pin on their 2013 Australian tour following bass player John McVie’s cancer diagnosis, Fleetwood Mac’s most famous and most successful line-up landed in Sydney this week ahead of what McVie has indicated might be his last tour with the band that bears his name.
Founding member Mick Fleetwood, 68, was respectful when he spoke of McVie’s recent health crisis during a sound check at Allphones Arena yesterday.
“I raised a toast the other night with Christine (McVie). He’s well as well, absolutely (in) tip top health and that’s pivotal. And outside of it, it’s great to be here and playing.
“It’s a revisitation,” Fleetwood enthused of his 69-year-old creative partner with whom he founded the band in 1963.
“John’s very practical. He didn’t get into it (cancer talk) one way or the other. I’m an old drama queen but John just said, ‘OK, let’s get it fixed’ and that was that. Never heard any more about it and it was fixed, and we’ve been on the road ever since.”
In May, McVie said his playing days would soon be at an end: “How much longer can the Mac be a working band? Not much longer, for me anyway. It’s not the music. It’s the peripherals, the travelling. Mick will go on until they put him up against a wall and shoot him.”
“(Christine) just sort of woke up and said, ‘I’m not done. I want to be more alive’,” Fleetwood said.
Fleetwood acknowledges relations within the band, which includes three
ex- couples — Buckingham, 66, and singer/songwriter Stevie Nicks, 67, the McVies and Fleetwood and Nicks — are still fiery 40 years after the most famous Mac five first collaborated in 1975.
“I don’t think Lindsey and Stevie will ever not be able to suppress various emotive buttons that exist. One lives in hope, as I think they do,” he said of the former lovers, who started working together at 16.
FANS OF ‘THE MAC’ SHOULD NOT MISS THIS TRIBUTE SHOW
“Having Chris back is hugely amazing. I think Stevie’s loving it and Chris is, too.
Touring the world was “sort of” easier today, added Fleetwood, whose battle with cocaine addiction is the stuff of rock legend. (He once estimated that, laid end to end, the cocaine he consumed during his life would stretch seven miles).
‘‘Those, looking back on it, were sort of a bit harder. Harder to juggle feeling good and being professional. Those days are long gone.’’
Fleetwood says this time there will be only just the occasional “little jug” of wine during this tour.
The band plays Allphones Arena on October 22, 24 and 25.

Fleetwood Mac in Sydney
They're one of the world's most successful bands, Fleetwood Mac.
And they have stood the test of time first forming 48 years ago.
They're touring the country at the moment with the same line up that produced one of the biggest selling albums of all time, Rumours.
The tour sees Christine McVie back in the band after a 17 year semi-retirement alongside Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, Lindsey Buckingham and John McVie.
The band's drummer and founding member Mick Fleetwood told 702 ABC Sydney Breakfast presenter Robbie Buck that it's great to be back on the road.
"It's not got old. We've been on the road now with Christine for many many months all over the world and it is truly amazing seeing this woman return."
Mick Fleetwood said the tour wouldn't be the last time the public would be hearing from the band.
"This is not goodbye. Stevie (Nicks) mentioned to me the other night saying, 'this can't be the goodbye tour because no one said that it was,'" he said.

That was my first thought as well. But then you have to figure this is a camera phone recording and it seems this girl's phone mostly picked up Lindsey's vocal and guitar. You can hear Chris' vocal ok but not much from Stevie and the other instrumentation is muffled or not audible at all. It probably sounded a lot better live throughout the whole arena.

I'm so glad they are performing this song and wish they had been playing it when they came to DC. The energy level of the set kind of lagged in the middle and this song would have gotten me excited. I can't really judge the performance based on this one youtube video, in which Christine can barely be heard.

"Tusk" is my favorite album, so the more songs done live from that album, the better! If they were going to drop any songs from that amazing album, then I'm glad they were replaced by more "Tusk tunes!" Lol!
Sad to see "Sisters Of The Moon" go. It was a major highlight for me this year, especially because it was creepier and more ominous in her lower vocal register. It might never return to the set, so I'm glad I got the chance to see it live, as well as "Storms" and "Beautiful Child" on previous tours. Here's hoping that "Angel" makes it back to the set one last time before they retire as a band!

I'm so glad you finally get to see them. I mush prefer this. I thought OMH was dull in the set in Los Angeles. I like her story about Malibu.. but the song was a damper on the energy..
Stevie looks lost on her parts a bit and Lindsey looks like he is struggling to remember how to play it.. Can't hear Chris that well. It can only get better.. Can't wait to hear a better quality..

Brining Think About Me back is an awesome idea. I've never been lucky enough to see them do it live, but I remember hearing it on a bootleg tape of one of the last concerts on the Tusk tour and just loving it. I hope one day I can hear it live. :)
And just so that everyone remembers, their Tusk tour was very long, and they did actually change the setlist up a bit towards the end of that tour, which is why we have the lovely version of Over and Over on the Fleetwood Mac live disc. So they do change things up a little if the tour is long enough. I just wish they would do that on alternate nights during the same part of the tour. I think it would make things slightly more spontaneous for them and it would be throwing die hard fans who go to multiple shows a big ol' bone. :)

Sisters had a good run but it was time for it to go. I think it got better for sure as the tour progressed. If you ask me, Beautiful Child really should have made a return appearance after the SYW tour. It's a beautiful song and it works so well on stage. I'm a little sad to see Over My Head leave the set. It was a surprise highlight for me. Bleed to Love Her is OK but Save Me a Place would have been a home run!!!!

This is correct. I was in third row centre and the sound and vocals were brilliant! I've never been to an opening night before, but it was amazing how strong all three singers' voices were throughout the concert - hope they can keep it up on what is short tour (for them).

Rumours of Fleetwood Mac’s demise prove wrong
[click for audio]
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/arts/music/rumours-of-fleetwood-macs-demise-prove-wrong/story-fniwj43s-1227577630462
THE AUSTRALIAN OCTOBER 22, 2015 12:00AM by Iain Shedden
Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood takes pride in being part of one of music’s greatest soap operas, the band’s landmark 1977 album Rumours.
“The album is a chronicle of everything that happened with us on a personal level, which became a story almost too out of control, but the quality of the way we *approached that album sonically, it’s very natural,” Fleetwood, 68, said in Sydney yesterday.
The drummer, a founding member of one of the world’s most successful and enduring rock acts, will be joined by Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie and Christine McVie on stage in Sydney tonight as the veteran band begins its On With the Show Australian tour.
The shows, which come at the end of a world tour, mark the return to the Australian stage of Christine McVie, who quit the band in 1998, but rejoined at the beginning of last year. Her return reunites the line-up whose fractious relationships formed the lyrical backbone of the Rumours album and shot them to international superstardom.
“She is a dear friend to all of us,” said Fleetwood, “even when she wasn’t in the band, so to have her back and with such a level of enthusiasm is a joy to see. It’s fair to say that Stevie is happy to not just be surrounded by a bunch of ex-boyfriends.”
Nicks was in a relationship with Buckingham when they both joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975, but after they split she had an affair with Fleetwood, who was married at the time.
Fleetwood has been the only constant in the band since it began as a blues rock outfit in *England in the 1960s and believes he has been partly responsible for keeping the group together through its many turbulent *periods.
“I don’t write the songs, I don’t sing the songs, but in a way that has been my contribution to a bunch of wonderful, crazy people, present and past, that have come through Fleetwood Mac.”
The drummer, who has also toured Australia with his blues band, said that a new album would be forthcoming from Fleetwood Mac.
“There will be a new record,” he said.
“John and myself and Lindsey cut a lot of stuff about three years ago, which remains in our swollen archive. Much later we recorded with Christine. Whether Stevie becomes a part of that we’re not quite sure. I live in hope that it will work out.
“We’re not done yet, that’s the main thing.”

This youtube video has much better sound quality of the "Think About Me" performance in Sydney.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwnoXMWgFrU
The harmonies are especially good. Wow, Christine can still reach those high notes.
I also like that I can hear her introduction: "It was released as a single but I don't think it terribly well, but we don't care..." Funny: "Think About Me" reached the exact same chart position as "Over My Head"--the song they replaced in the set. But I suppose a peak position of 20 in 1980, after a string of top tens, might have seemed a bit minor in comparison to when the band's first single reached 20.

For a song they haven't performed since 1980, Think About Me sounds pretty good, though a little wobbly . It will get better the more they perform it. I'm glad to see them shake their set list a bit.
I wish they would have swapped songs throughout the tour -- like Sisters of the Moon some nights, Sara other nights. It would make the show more fluid and less predictable. It would also leave room for other less performed/never performed songs.
Can anyone confirm that some shows from this tour have been professionally filmed/recorded? Perhaps down the line we'll get a CD/DVD of it.
It doesn't surprise me that John will be retiring from touring. I think it's a bit unreasonable to expect them to maintain this level of activity on the road. Hopefully they will finish their final studio album. There are many ways to promote it without touring the world.

I didn't know it matched OMH in chart position but as of airplay, no match to OMH whatsoever. OMH was a classic rock radio staple for YEARS after its release, whereas if one heard TAM on the radio at all after 1980, it was a major miracle.

I think we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves re John retiring... this is the quote that it all stems from, from the Mojo interview:
How much longer can the Mac be a working band? Not much longer, for me anyway,” he explains. “It’s not the music – it’s the peripherals, the travelling. Mick will go on until they put him up against the wall and shoot him.”
McVie also admits he does worry what audiences see when he takes the stage, having been through the mill a bit since helping form the band in 1967: including marrying and divorcing a bandmate and being treated for cancer last year.
“I do flash on it, what must I f*cking look like, this old fart up there,” he laughs. “But I look out and there’s kids, and kids on their shoulders now, and they all seem to be having a good time. It’s sort of worrying… Jesus Christ, will there still be a demand when I’m 75?!”

So he's still thinking that he'll be around in 2020, from my reading of it. Maybe the new album will be out by then....

I didn't know it matched OMH in chart position but as of airplay, no match to OMH whatsoever. OMH was a classic rock radio staple for YEARS after its release, whereas if one heard TAM on the radio at all after 1980, it was a major miracle.
Good point about airplay. OMH is played a lot more--these days. But I heard it often throughout the 80s and even into the 90s. In fact, I heard it almost as much as I heard OMH. By the mid-90s, however, it died an AOR death. Strange when one thinks about it. TAM has more in common with the musical landscape of the last twenty years than OMH.

Fleetwood Mac took the world by storm in 1977 when they released one of the biggest selling albums of all time, Rumours.
The band has been marred by fallouts, fights and breakups, but now, 16 years later, Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, John McVie and Lindsey Buckingham are back and ready to rock arenas across Australia.
David Campbell caught up with the founding member, Mick Fleetwood, on what it’s like for the original and iconic band members to be touring together again.
“It is the five pieces all in place, it’s magic,” Fleetwood said.
Fleetwood can’t believe Christine McVie, who stepped away from music in the ‘90s, joined the band again.
“She’s really back,” Fleetwood said, sounding genuinely surprised.
“We had not a thought that she would ever come back, and neither did she.
“But truthfully it was her decision to change her life, she just thought, is this it?
“I’m sitting around not really doing anything, she was, I think, very dangerously disconnected from music.
“Well she came back and there’s no stopping her now.”

Does anyone think they might come back and do some additional American dates? The Eagles just did that for their most recent tour. They came back from Australia and played some more shows in America. I would totally go see Fleetwood Mac a third time and pay hundreds of dollars just to see them play Sara.

Ha ha. Dream on silly dreamer. We would all love that but it would never happen. This tour has been insane and this time last year they were still playing.
I hope they can relax a few months and then concentrate on the new album.

Agreed. Anything to take their attention from making a new album is unnecessary.
