Howdy Ledgies -
Mark your calendars if you are in NYC on Wed, OCT 7th... I will be performing an Evening of Fleetwood Mac songs on the grand piano at Sid Gold's Request Room (http://sidgolds.com/)in NYC. I'll be putting a fun spin on some of your fav hits, rarities, and even rousing the crowd together for some sing-a-longs. Save the date and make plans to attend! I'd love to have some local Ledgies in the audience.
I had originally planned an evening of just Stevie tunes (and posted about it on the Stevie boards), but for a more well-rounded show, I have opted to add in some lovely Christine and Lindsey tunes.
Oct 7th, 8pm —165 West 26th Street
And after my set, the floor is open for everyone to sing their favorite Mac songs along with the pianist

WelcomeChris - I take that as a challenge! and I will definitely work up a Welch-era tune for you. (though it might be a McVe tune!) :)

I'm having just as much fun making these invites as I am practicing a set list.

It's funny especially because of Lindsey's totally unamused expression!

That's really cute. Lindsey's hairline and red rimmed eyes scare me, but I actually can hear him saying the words in the air bubble. He has a cute lilt to his voice when he teases her.

Someone should put this up on YouTube.
And if you're a Ledgie, introduce yourself
to the cameraman.

Im definitely going to try and "tape" the show — but one never knows how venue politics and are with recording ... But what I'll probably do is just record some of the better tracks at home and post them on youtube. :)
So stay tuned. And thank you SO much for the support!

It probably can be done by just record the introductions and outros of the music and edit the music out if the whole performance was recorded .Then it should be OK with Youtube.

At this point, I think i have spent just as much time on invites/posters — as I have actual rehearsing! But I do love this new one!

Wow, this is awesome too, I actually had to look twice to find you.
And you look a bit like a 19th century english Rob Halford. In a good way of course.

I'm always going for a Mad-Max meets Oliver Twist look. But 19th century Rob Halford is pretty much the same thing ;) Love it! thanks!:)

I'm interested in hearing the medley and your version of Sable on blonde; did you do it like the rockier demo or more like the studio version?

It's a little all over the place actually ;)
While this isnt from last evening's performance, here are two of my Mac/Stevie covers. The "Sable" version isnt the best version of that. I do it much better now!

You're adorable, you resemble a bit Jack McFarland's actor.
I think I like Sable on blonde but I almost haven't recognized little lies at the beginning; I've never noticed before but this song without its singsong-ing it's quite a lullaby.

I have a general rule of thumb when I do covers: I have to rearrange them and make them different — as if I would have written them. Christine's older songs are perfect for the piano (like "Why", "Say you love me", and "Songbird") - but the tunes from TANGO are more synthy. I think that when they are played "as-is" on piano, they sound so karaoke -- so I make them all ballad-y and sparse and feature the longingness in the lyrics. I love playing this slowed-down version of "Little Lies" at a show -- because i can see the lightbulbs going off in people's heads as they slowly start to recognize the lyrics taken away from the normal pop-structure. It's like an "a-ha" moment for them -- and then they start to sing along! :)
