Never heard this before. From recordings for Mirror Mirror. The voice sounds like Reconsider Me. She had a couple of great songs that really never got the airtime they deserved

Even though I'm British, I've had an obsession with old American country music since I was young.. My all-time favourite Stevie songs are the country ones, so this song makes me really happy! She said she always wanted to do a country album, and she should have, quietly and behind the scenes after the Wild Heart, releasing one single pretty much only to country radio. Of course her management would never have allowed that, but think of the wasted opportunities. Sometimes I listen to the SiriusXM classic country radio channels, mostly 59, and can so imagine her on there..

After the Glitter Fades and a That's Alright should of been played all over country radio but they don't like witches. Hicks...

I want this quote inscribed on my tombstone
Are You Mine is one of my favorite Stevie vocals( on a duet) I would love an official recording of this with Billy B from 1985. I do love the boot!

If you dig up the "Wild Heart" interview with Jim Ladd there is a version of this song with Stevie, Sharon, Lori & Sandy Stewart and Stevie talks about this being one of the first songs she sang with her grandfather...

So she never wrote it?

So she never wrote it?
Nope. It was originally sung by Ernest Tubb and Loretta Lynn, but also by George Jones and others.

Timothy White, the journalist who wrote the 1981 Rolling Stone cover story on Stevie, first aired this recording on a radio-interview show called Timothy White's Rock Stars. I think it was in 1988.
On that same show, they also previewed Christine's Everywhere demo.

There's also a version that is not a duet with Billy Burnette.

she's claimed for years to have a tape of her singing it with her grandfather, A.J., when she was a child. Would love to hear it. Would love to hear the full song she wrote for him The Grandfather Song. She's sung snippets here and there.

I hate to be the Debbie Downer of this thread but I think Stevie and Billy's version of this song is horrible. It would be horrible even for a B side IMHO. Her voice is fried and it sounds like one of those RAL demos where she is not really trying or paying attention to the quality of singing or her music.
Please don't flame me
I love a country rock Stevie with Its late, Blue Denim, That's Alright, and After the glitter fades. But this song is weak vocally and musically. It would not even pass round #1 of American Idol

If the tape is still surviving .I love to hear that tape too in its completeness .Maybe she can put it on her next 24K album untouched.

I prefer the version sans Billy -- just Stevie with Sharon and Laurie. The frailty of her voice adds so much nuance to the song. It's just a demo; I wonder it was ever given serious consideration for an album.
Perhaps the Billy duet take was a possibility for the Behind the Mask album.
