I speak for myself, but I know many fans hope Stevie records another Songs from the Vault album. She still has a lot of songs in various states of development lingering in her vault.

Since her firstl "vault" album, 24 Karat Gold was titled after a song featured on the album, what song would you want to be the title for the next album, Songs from the Vault volume 2?

The first one that come to my mind is Something Exquisite.

I don't want another "From The Vault" album. I love her redoing old demos but I think the title of the album is what killed it. 24 Karat Gold works as a fine title...without the SFTV stuff at the end.

Julia, since it's my real name and it will probably be on next album! But I know it's not marketable.
I really don't care if she doesn't change the title, but I'd like to have a new version of Mirror mirror and Joan of arc, maybe she can manage to find some other sort of concept...

With all the fuss lately about the 24K one about how it was done . She could save some money and have Dave or who ever clean up the sound on the original demo tapes and just transfer them to CD.

Music for the second 24k .Thats a good question.Puzzled.

Agreed. The average music buyer probably saw "songs from the vault" and assumed this was some sort of compilation of rejects that were recorded over the course of several decades, and slapped together in one package. In essence, like the compilation of Amy Winehouse songs that were released after her death.

Obviously, that's not what 24k is. Yes, the lyrics are old... but these songs are unknown to the general public, the vocals are all new, and most of the instrumental arrangements are rebuilt or completely new from the ground-up. The qualifier: "songs from the vault" completely handicapped the album, in my opinion.

Not that 24k was ever going to set the charts ablaze... but still. I think those 4 words in the title hobbled it's momentum & credibility. Could Stevie have gotten a Grammy nomination if they weren't there? We'll never know.

I just hope she doesn't get any assistance from Joe Walsh in naming her albums. Here's a few titles of his albums:

You Bought It- You Name It
Look What I Did
Got Any Guns?
But Seriously Folks

Fortunately, this is Stevie. I imagine it will be typical Stevie stock:
Unicorns and Fountains
Stars and Satin
Dreaming With A Wild Heart

I'm also in agreement that "Songs From The Vault" is kind of annoying and most likely a turn off for the casual fan. She needs people around her telling her these things.

Stevie - "The new vault album is going to be called 'Castaways!'
Camp Stevie - "I don't think that's a good idea, Stevie."
Stevie - "Well, I don't think you would say that to Bob D..."

I like your suggestion, PenguinHead - "Something Exquisite" would make a great title! I love the song!

Another thought is that she could name it from a demo that suggests a "group" or "collection" of things - "Night Gallery" or "The Charmed Ones" could be nice contenders.

Or...if she wants to record it once again in break neck speed, release it before the Mac records and tours again, and before she tours for both "Vault" albums...she could call it "Impossible Task"!

Got Any Guns is hilarious. He sounds like a fairly funny guy, just judging from that list.

I want another songs from album, especially since it is easily the best thing she has done since the Early 1980s.

Money, precious gems, gold and other items of immense value are stashed in vaults for safe keeping. The term holds an air of mystique to me, and I don't see it as a negative thing.

I doubt that the subtitle had little influence on the album's commerciality. There are many other factors involved. Surprisingly, the main source of consternation and negativity came from her so-called " fans." Just because songs were demos or leftovers (for various reasons) they were castigated as being inferior; " they should have stayed in the vault" was the oft-cited quip.

24 Karat Gold - love it or hate it- has artistic significance & impact because it illicits such polarizing reactions. I hope Stevie gives us another album of songs from the vault volume 2. But it should have its own identity, entitled like it's predecessor, by one the songs featured on it.

I totally agree with you, Stevie's demos still offer a magitudes of themes and significances that are perfect for a second "vault" album.
I believe Baby doll, Castaway, Joan of arc, Mirror mirror, Night gallery are the best contenders for a title or concept.
For example the idea of an intimate songs collection about old loves and passions adheres well with a lingerie related imagery; even if it's not the main theme of Baby doll she could very well take advantage of the double meaning.

assuming that BG is a song on the vault deux
which i hope so since i like it :D

LOL! "Unicorns & Fountains". :lol::lol::lol:

I would be really pissed if she re-did "Mirror Mirror". It's released already and IMO it's nothing special. Julia and Something Exquisite need to be the album.

Entirely agreed that she should drop the "Songs from the Vault" title for any follow-up album. "Something Exquisite" and "Mirror Mirror" are both excellent suggestions. "Joan of Arc," "All the King's Horses," or "Sanctuary" could be great.

Relatedly, earlier this week someone on the Ivory Keys Facebook page posted a twitter conversation she had with Dave. She tweeted him, asking whether he would be working with Stevie in the studio soon. He responded something like, "yes, likely very soon," with a smiley face. So, we shall see!

The title of that album is actually Got Any Gum? which, though different, is also funny I suppose. I kind of like The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get.

Ooo, I like that idea, "charmed ones", as if there was something special and unique about a group of songs that was destined to someday appear together on a treasured project.

Impossible Task! Night Gallery is an excellent title, as it has a sense of intrigue. The Charmed Ones is a turn off for me; it sounds so cloying, or like the title of a sappy movie.

Baby Doll would be a very interesting title! (For reasons not fully articulated, Victorian imagery comes to my mind for the theme/graphics). Night Gallery is a strong contender too. Joan of Arc? ?She was a real person, - that would be too specific, weird and confusing.

If she repeats the process, harvesting songs from her "vault," the record should its own identity and have a title from one of the featured songs.
To name her next album 24 Karat Gold: Volume 2 would be redundant. The conceptual model is songs from her vault. 24 Karat Gold is just the title of particular collection; it's not a brand.

The supposed detracting, commercial- killing subtitle "songs from the vault" is superfluous (not needed). But the absence of the term isn't likely to influence the impact of its commercial success either way. 24 Karat Gold appealed to a "back to the underground" niche market of die-hard fans. Casual fans hardly bothered with it, regardless of the subtitle.

Stevie needs a universal break-out hit -- a song that resonates with the mainstream. It will drive sales of the album. I'd love to see have the chart success she enjoyed in the early years of her solo career; having the media celebrating what she's doing in the now, and not rehashing what she's done in the past.

Yes, but so was Alice and "The Other Side Of The Mirror". Not to mention Rhiannon, and the always up in the air Rhiannon project.
I've never been one to care about marketability or hits, I think that these projects would be an interesting opportunity for Stevie to experiments with something new and a bit more engagé now that is the right time of her career and she doesn't have to worry about hits anymore.

There are a lot of way in which media can celebrate her, critical success matters just as much as public success; a grammy for example would be a nice adding to her legacy even if not necessary.
I don't see Stevie bending to the last music trends, can you see her dueting with Taylor Swift, Skrillex, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez or a rapper? And besides, that song she did with Dave Grohl didn't do so well.
I think now Stevie should think more about the quality than the quantity of her work, then maybe she could enjoy a nice reception again like it's been for Tom Petty, Aerosmith and Elton John in the last years.

I'd much rather have an entirely new album off Stevie with, at most, four old demo songs included. It would be a much more cohesive album - I much prefer IYD to 24KG - and shows she's still artistically relevant. One album of entirely old demo songs is quirky. Two is lazy.

I both agree and disagree.

I disagree that two albums of old re-recorded demos is "lazy". On the contrary, the fact that she has such a lush back catalog of demos shows that (at one time) she was very prolific. The "mad songwriter" as Christine would call her. Simply and FINALLY getting them out there to the masses for an "officially released" album shows everyone how prolific she was.

But I do agree that she does need to release an album with at least 80% freshly written material. She can call it "First World Rich Old Lady Problems".

Seriously though. If she is intent to release a SFTV sequel, then she should do that and then go back to focusing on getting her new material (if she even has any) out to the public either with Fleetwood Mac or Solo.
