I'm bored to death because here is 40 degrees (=104 F) and I want to have a positive thread for once, where we can talk about our pets with a personal preference for cats and maybe exchange advices and experiences among animal lovers.

So this is my female cat Perla; she's 15 years old but she's still kicking butts since, as you can see, she's stolen my fancy magenta jumper. I took her in when she was just 2 weeks old, born from the litter of the cat of my sisters's friend:
http://s29.postimg.org/pudlnvpt3/2015_04_03_14_02_07.jpg

I also had another younger cat named Izzie that me and my family saved from a moat, but unfortunately she was half purebred and she died from a genetic illness three years ago. This is her (Sorry for the ****ty quality):

And right after Easter my beloved dog Black left us four months after being diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully, he left peacefully while sleeping due to his very old age though:

I'm glad your pets had a loving life before passing away. Perla is gorgeous!!!

I have 8 rescue cats, you can see them here (http://postimg.org/gallery/dqkczito/).

Thank you!
Yes, Perla is pretty and she knows it!

You have such beauties! http://coloressential.forumup.it/images/smiles/hate-inlove.gif I think I have a crush on Frida http://coloressential.forumup.it/images/smiles/hearts.gif

By the way you're pretty, you resemble Elizabeth Reaser.

Thank you! :xoxo:

It warms my heart you have a crush on Frida. :D It's just that in Brazil, tortoiseshell cats are the least likely to get adopted. I volunteer at a shelter and sadly, these beauties are considered ugly. :(

I happen to think they are gorgeous, I mean, look at my Frida:

Really? And to think that tortoiseshell cats and their other variations like Calicos here are believed to bring good luck.
My neighbour has a long-haired black-Sienna tortoishell cat that I envy him greatly.
Seriously, Frida could be a cat model.

I have a long haired maine coon tabby called Gypsy :D

SisterNightroad

Gypsy is an amazing name!
Izzie was half (or maybe a quarter) maine coon. She had inerited their friendly and playful disposition, along with her stocky-ness and the long tufts of hair on neck, chest, stomach, butt and tail:

She has that look about her a lot

Don't let the cute face fool you, she's a little diva when she wants to be and VERY cheeky. But she's so soft and sweet - not really a lap cat, but very sociable and alwyas wants to be around people. She's not one for sitting on your knee, mainly because she's too big, but she's never far away from us.

SisterNightroad

She's beautiful... all that fur...
Also Izzie was sweet and sociable but didn't want to be in my lap. She just wanted to knead my thighs, if I was on the sofa, or my stomach, if I was on the bed; all while tickling me with her soft tail on my face or neck.

my 2 boys gizzy & tank - gizzy is the orange and white one and tank is the black and gray one.

gizmo - had his gallbladder taken out in march along with the re-routing of his blocked common bile duct and has also suffered from pancreatitis, cholangeohepatits and has IBD as well as a hiatal hernia right now from too much vomiting. he is on meds and expected to make a fully recovery for the hernia but will probably have to be on meds forever for the IBD. he is 11 and is just the best. i knew the moment i laid eyes on him at the animal rescue that he was meant to be my cat.
tank - recently had 4 teeth pulled an issue with his back claw and had a liver biopsy for his raised liver enzymes but the doc said he looks good and that maybe he still has an infection of some sort. i think its from the teeth.
he is such a sweet boy and so chill and just spends all his time purring. tank is also 11. when my hubby saw his face at the animal rescue he just had to have him. lol best part is that he just wants held like a baby 24/7

Oh, I understand, my poor Izzie had inherited a genetic intestines illness, practically she had a chronic intestine prolapse.
How old were your kitties when you adopted them?

Yeah, at least they had a long happy life.
Tank is very sweet in his little shirt! Perla also likes being cradled like a baby, I guess with age the go back to being pups!

I think 11 is young for cats i expect them to live to be at least 18. All the people I know that have had cats they all made it to 18-20. My parents cat almost made it 21. He was such a good boy. My hubby and I love our cats more than anything so I pray everyday they will be ok.
Your baby is soo cute too! They are just so much fun! Lol if my bank account wasnt tapped out we would adopt so many more animals. Ha ha

Sure, if they're not purebreds they'll supposedly reach at least 14-16 years old, there are a lot of factors to count, for example indoor cats live longer or cats whose parents had long lives etc.
Well, "old" is a subjective concept, technically cats reach their old age around the 9th-10th year, so my cat should be a old but she's just crazy and licks my shoes.
Yeah, cats are the most fun creatures in the world, and very affectionate, I don't understand how people think that they're less sweet than dogs.

Three of mine are 16 this year (the one one is 12 or 13...we never remember we have to count back where we living when we got him).

The vet said of our Russian Blue "oh he might live to 20". We went "Oh no!" because he really is the stereotypical cat wanting to take over the world. For those who think I am being mean not wanting him to live to 20, my sister-in-law used to like cats and was going to get cats when she got her own place, but she decided against it after spending time with him! Yep he's that bad!

SisterNightroad
07-10-2015, 08:30 AM
My perla was very bad too, she used to hate me and behaved like the cats you see on "My cat from hell" (for those who don't know the program check it out, it's hilarious: http://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/my-cat-from-hell/) but after she turned 12 years old she became a sweetie. And I'm happy I don't have to go to class with my hands and forearms scratched.
I believe that the quality of our pets' life is far more important than the lenght.

Cola is very friendly towards people, he used to beat our old dog up when she was alive (and she was four times bigger than him) so much that she would purposely divert around him to avoid him. He used to bash one of our other cats so badly that she would shake with fear, he bit a chunk out of one of the other cats ears, etc. Then he used to steal food out of the frying pan, still to this day steals food from the kids, especially off of the baby's high chair, (and then has a full on fight with the dog for the spoils of victory), every meal made in the kitchen is a battle to avoid him stealing food while you are cooking. He tends to find himself locked out in his enclosure whenever food is being prepared or if my toddler is eating.

The list is endless...

He is also very sweet, a real charmer, the other cats love him, he domesticated a feral kitten all on his own when we had failed (incredible to watch, he was like a mummy cat) and he never fails to charm visitors when they come over, especially if the visitor is a pretty lady.

A cat of many contrasts...

Poor neighbor, I hope it's nothing serious...
How is the cat?

The cat is OK but the neighbor has dementia and had to go into a home for he can get takin care of.He is 87 years old.

My father had a light case of dementia before I lost him with prostrate cancer at 79 in 2012.

The cat is about 6 or 7 years old according to my neighbors son.Not many people want to adopt older cats but this one is very friendly with people and me included. Also shes an outside cat and stays put in the area.

I got a stray cat that hangs out here at times. So she is probably friends with him or her.The stray has issues being afraid of people and probably was like that since it was a kitten or it got abuse.

Since I have a brook in the back yard .I dont mind having cats around. They keep the mice and water rats out of my yard,Shed and house.Only one problem .They will go after the birds too as I found feathers on the lawn a month ago.

I understand, my grandmother is 81 and has Alzheimer.

Yeah, no one wants to adopt an already adult animal, I'm fighting with my father about taking another dog from a shelter. Basically since my dog has died of old age a few months ago he says that taking a dog from a shelter means that He or she will die soon all over again. I'm not ready to take another dog but I won't give up the idea of taking him from a shelter, it's morally the right thing and there are a lot of advantages.

By the way 6/7 years old is still pretty young for a cat, it's like a man in his 40s. Living outside means he will live at least for 10 years more.
Stray cats are always reluctant but if you leave a bit of food for him/her too might become a bit less wary,. But if it has really been abused he/she is probably traumatized and could become aggressive.

I loved my cats also for keeping my garden free of rats and snakes too but there's no way to keep them away from birds, they're the most difficult and then interesting preys. But for that they're also the first target to be abandoned, an old and heavier cat can't keep up.

Finally a place where I can share my love of cats with likeminded people!

I love dogs but I am definitely a cat person. I don't know anybody else who is here in Ireland (except for the wonderful lady who runs a cat rescue near me).

I have 5 cats. Molly, Maloney, Ivy, Mr. Russell (after the man who found him), and Mac (yes, after Fleetwood Mac).

I also have two dogs, a 10 year old Cavalier named Ozzy (dumb as a post and deaf), and Cookie (I know, she sounds like a little porn star) who is a 4 month old Jack Russell. Absolute demon, and also reminds me why I love cats more :blob2:

I realized I'm not ready to let her go, I've had this cat since when I was 8 years old and my sister and I brought her in my house despite my parents' previous refusal.

No problem.Thats common with cats.My cat has no issues in the pee dept as I see her flood the litter box at times. She loves drinking water because I have to keep filling it every day.

I know but she's very old and she couldn't drink or eat. Today she couldn't walk straight.
She has been drip fed since Monday.
Today the doctor changed the cure and prescribed an antibiotic for 15 days, I hope this time she gets well.

I have a most interesting cat story. If I told it true,
some would still think it was one of my tall tales.
This particular cat was dead at the beginning of
the story. Though not by my doing. He perhaps
lived more in the days that followed than any he'd
lived before.

This is her (Sorry for the ****ty quality):
http://s14.postimg.org/92n19pwep/cellulare_046.jpg

And right after Easter my beloved dog Black left us four months after being diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully, he left peacefully while sleeping due to his very old age though:

Your pets are adorable! I have a cat named Oliver and he is about 2 years old. He was a stray kitten that turned up in my front yard. I will look through my photos and see what I can dig up.

I'm sorry to hear this.I hope the vet can treat it.My friends 6 year old Siamese cat had treatment for his problems going to the bathroom. The vet change his food to a special prescription cat food that cost my friend about US $3.00 bucks a can.He is doing great now.

Thanks. Yes, she has special food that costs 2 Euros at portions too, it's a bit of a shame. For a while she was doing fine but the vet told us to be prepared because she's old.
Your cat has a very cute name.

An italian weekly tv program that does investigative reports 2 or 3 months ago showed that a lot of the most famous brands of animal food actually has too high price for the contents (mainly alimentary discards), makes illegal and unnecessary experiments on animals and some actually could even be detrimental to animals on the long run because the food is "diluted" with other substances like clay.
Not to be alarmist, it's just that our animals eat almost only those things all of their lives, it's better to be attentive to what they eat and make them also eat some real food once in a while.

sorry to hear about your cat , it is never easy .

In america a few years ago there was a massive recall of dog food it was all being made in china and they were adding fillers that caused immediate kidney failure , I did some research and found a local company that made human grade food for dogs and cat

I also at the time had a cat that was losing weight and nothing was showing up on every test , i thought i should then check his food , which was Science Diet a very highly recommended by veterinarian food , they changed their formula and well the second ingredient was cellulose (ground wood ) i changed his food and he lived to be 22 years old .

You want to believe you are feeding them something good , but here anything especially treats from the supermarket those brands are basically toxic and poison .

Thanks, I appreciate your solidarity.
The problem with these foods is that veterinarians recommend them for money and they don't know what actually is in the food.
The best would be feeding them with homemade food but it's very troublesome, time consuming and the necessary nutritional supplements are expensive and/or difficult to find. I had made some research for my cat but now it's too late.
However among those brands named by the Report were Royal Canin and Personal Trainer.

You're very admirable for cooking so much for your animals. When I discovered her illness I bought a manual for cats home-made feeding and I'll try making something for her but I still can't find some vitamins. Unfortunately she always had a very picky appetite and doesn't like many fishes and meats, but at least she likes chicken and can stand turkey.

I agree feeding our pets good food is the best thing we can do for them (and the best thing we can do us humans too!). I had a rescue Lurcher that I tried on a raw meat and veg diet as this is supposed to be closest to their natural wild diet, but it was hard going as I'm vegetarian. She was an amazing running dog, the fastest on the beach, and I actually discovered that she had better energy levels on the dried food - but I found a good quality, UK made non-toxic food.

After trying a few foods with my cat, he's now on James Wellbeloved (light as he overeats) and this seems to be the best by far for his coat and eyes. I hope it's good enough for his health in the long term, he catches wild things too. It's great if you can give your pets some fresh foods. I get my pet food delivered in bulk from Zooplus to make it affordable , they deliver all over Europe.

I'm sorry to hear about your cat Sisternightroad, as Olive said you've done a great job of caring for her and 16 is a good age. We get so attached to them its very hard when they get ill.

I tried Zooplus but the costs of the delivery and the management ended up surpassing the retrenchment, so I buy from a nearby shop. I use a brand named Prolife that uses natural supplements and it's fine also because it's actually a bit cheaper than all the other most famous brands, I save circa 8 Euros for the 1,5 kg dry food and 65 cents at portion for the wet food.

Hi everybody.Been away for awhile.I'm sad to say my cat Buttons has gone to kitty heaven today {August 24th} around 2pm today at the vets. The vet doctor have tried to revive her as her heart stopped"cardiac arrest " and got her going and say about 10 minutes later she passed away on her own. She was not put asleep. which would be more heart breaking for me. She got sick over the weekend which I noticed that she was not eating alot loosing weight last week. The Doctor said that maybe her kidneys were the issue that made her sick.I blame the cat food with the crap they put into it I feel like crap and blaming myself for not taking care of her but my friend Bob said I was taking her from my neighbor"Crampton" and giving her for another year of being alive at a new home when I adopted a year ago last year.More likely my ex -neighbors family would drop Buttons off at the local animal shelter and have her put down.

Heres the latest photo of her that I taken on the 19th of August before she started going down the last few days.

I will get another cat companion A "Buttons Jr" soon after I flea bomb and clean the place here.

She's up there on the rainbow bridge in heaven and later meet up with Mr Crampton and friends the she knew.

I visited the memorial, it shows that yu really loved Buttons. If it's of any help, it's obvious that she loved you too and that you made her happy during this year with you, she certainly never wanted anything more than that.

When you'll feel ready consider to save another cat and apply what Buttons has taught you.
Recently a stray cat has been abandoned in my old grand-father's field and we took him in. I thought I wasn't ready but he needed us and we don't regret it.

Yes, it was something like that.
While my sister was running she met an old man that said he found a "kitten" amid the sunflowers that looked very hungry and said that he would bring him food. For a week she could only hear but not see the cat, until on Saturday my parents decide to go see him all together after dinner and we saw this beast running towards us.
He's a male of circa 1 year old, castrated, very educated and playful but also big; I think they probably left him because he can't control his strenght.

Thanks for sharing those stories guys.Once I get myself together here and clean up the house and flea bomb it.Then I will look for a cat like Buttons.Again it was hard to sleep last night since she always on the bed and window sill looking outside.

I have or had a white/tan stray or some neighbors cat with no collar coming around here for the last 3 to 4 years and he/she disappeared when I got Buttons last August. The stray was living under the deck and he/she always run off if I walk towards her.Buttons more likely and told the stray to get out of my yard.Since earlier this year .Buttons stayed mostly inside and I let her out when I was outside in the yard. After Buttons stayed inside. They stray came back until few weeks ago .Just this pass Sunday the 21st of August as I was mowing the lawn .I almost mowed over a skeleton of a cat .The fur was orange color as it was in a separate pile about foot and a half from the skeleton. I have a bad feeling that is the stray cat which I hope its not the stray. So I have to clean up the bones and bury then in a Unknown cat tomb.Which is hard to do after what I'm going through with Buttons.

I apologize on dwelling on this and taking it so hard and. move on and get another cat soon.

To be honest .Also I have to say that Buttons brought me back to the Ledge as I was more likely to quit posting here as I went missing for awhile. Thanks to all of you for the support and love and kindness.

Skip.
I guess everyone when their pet first leave them does things out of character, I remember years ago I wanted to make a slideshow for my other cat and the only thing that stopped me was that I didn't have enough photos.
However welcome back, too bad that at the moment people aren't very stimulated to post because the political debate has gotten out of hands.
On another note I noticed that you have a South-Italian surname Skip, am I wrong?

Thank you SisterNightroad.I'm so happy that I took about 500 plus photos of her including videos in the short time that she was here.I will do the same with the next cat when I get it.Later I will put together a slideshow video and other videos of her and post it.I'm still feel so awful and crying over this.

Yes .Raccio .My dad was full blooded Italian and his father was from Italy .I have to ask my sister or my Uncle John which part since her and my dad went to Italy I think back in 2010 and visit the town that my grandfather came from. My mom was part French and German.

The surname Raccio is from Campania. Skipping over the political and social problems, I visited it a bit and it's a place of immeasurable historical and artistic beauty, as well as delicious cooking tradition.

Time to introduce this new punk. We found him two weeks ago in the middle of a sunflower field at night; we thought he was a "kitten" but it turned out he's a lynx. We named him Tobia and he's a rollicking overgrown baby of almost 6kg with a tabby ochre coat.

Thanks! Yeah, he's a handsome bastard but he's not brave at all since a few days ago he pooped himself because he saw another big cat in the garden...
In truth I hope he doesn't grow anymore, he's already big even if he doesn't look like it, you have to think the armchair is very big and if he stretch from the ground without jumping he can easily reach over the table; that's how he stole a slice of ham.

Its been a week and I miss my Buttons.:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Are you going to get yourself a new cat? If so, do you have a good rescue centre near you?

My two cats (Lottie and Solo) are from a rescue centre. Lottie lived with a family that mistreated her. When she was expecting a litter of kittens the family dog chewed her leg off so the family threw her out. A passer-by found her in a storm in a drain- only one of the litter survived (Solo). We've had them for about 6 years now. Lottie gets around well with only three legs. She's quite funny to watch when she gets into an argument with other cats- she forgets she only has three legs and waves her stump around in the air menacingly.
I'd recommend pets from a shelter.

I know you are grieving over Buttons but a seeing a new cat might help you to move on.

you should go find a a rescue or 2

Obviously you need the companionship and they need to have a loving home , just remember there will be an adjustment period but it will be good for both of you .

you Obviously loved Buttons ,and he best way to honor her memory is to give a home to one in need and it will do wonders for your own well being .

I've heard people to often say "but I couldn't replace my pet". Yet it isn't about replacing them, it is about giving another animal a home that doesn't have one. Which is why I don't like pet shops and the like. There are enough animals around that have no homes without more being bred. Which is why we have four cats and a dog.

I agree with everyone up. It's hard when you lose a pet because they're a member of your family, almost like a child since you do have to take care of them and we end up investing a lot of affection and bond strongly with them. That's particularly true if it's our first animal or an animal that accompanied us for long during our life.
Since you can't re-adopt another right away and maybe you still don't feel ready, try doing some little charity work with animals to help you during your grieving. Even if there's not a shelter near your house, you can help stray cats in your neighborhood. Me and my family (as well as other families) have arranged some sheltered beddings for stray cats and bring them food.
I assure you that even when you''ll have another pet it won't tarnish the memories you had with Buttons, I think none of us have forgotten even slightly any pet we had.

Yes I got the local shelter here and towns around me that I can make my rounds when I'm ready. Most of them are connected to the www.petfinder.com website which I've been looking at now.I'll go to the local shelter first since its a couple miles from here and its not on Petfinder.com. .I read the pros and cons online about getting the same cat fur color and reusing names .I do want a another black cat since I think they are cool and makes me think of the Sheba cat food commercial.I should have no problem finding one since some people dont like black cats since they are bad luck in their mind.I if I dont like her current name .I would like to rename her Stephanie or Rhiannon which was my first cats name.I probably nick name her Buttons Jr .It would be cool if Stevie used a black cat in her Rhiannon photos.

Good luck, you're doing the right thing. And names usually have to adapt to their personality, after you'll get to know your new pet you'll know what name is right for him/her.
And yes, every cat is cool, but black cats are especially cool for me too, my Perla was a total brilliant black. In the bad luck that struck me with my computer, it still happened that the software engineering company found some old photos of her that I had forgotten about in my hard drive:

I love all your pictures of Buttons. She was such a beautiful girl. Its all so hard. The guilt is the worst part it will eat you up and destroy you if you let it. What helped for me was just keeping myself very busy and going away on a few vacations. Having that extra time to relax made me think about things so much more clearly.
Tank was the first cat I ever had pass away and I still constantly cry about him. Our beautiful boy was only 12 when he passed and never had an issue until he turned 11. It started out with having to have a few teeth removed and then with blood work is was discovered his ALT was raised and then over the course of a few months he would have bouts where he wasnt eating and puking. My other cat had his gallbladder out around the same time so I took Tank to the same internal medicine doc at a place called PVSEC in Pittsburgh. He would get better but in July they did a liver aspirate to see if he had Lymphoma and at the time it came back negative. September hit and he completely stopped eating again and a feeding tube was put in and he tested positive for lymphoma in November. We took him every week for chemo and he did really well he was such a trooper and gave all the techs and docs kisses he was just such a loving cat that really just wanted to be held and petted 24/7.
After a few months they changed his chemo to every 3 weeks and around April it was discovered that his bile duct kept dilating. The docs kept an eye on it and then on May 12th they decided to operate on him and sew his gallbladder to his small intestine. His bile duct at that point was 1.7 cm and they were very worried it was going to rupture. At the time Tank only had a few remaining cancer cells left in his liver but he was steadily losing weight even though he was eating a lot of food. When they did the surgery they also took biopsies of his small intestine and liver and stuff and then they put in a feeding tube.
We lost Tank on May 17th. We got to take him home on that Monday and he looked great but very skinny. The next morning he kept laying in his litter box and didnt want anything to do with me but he was still on pain meds so I figured he was just being weird from those. I went to feed him through his tube that day at 1:30 and I am pretty sure he passed just a few minutes later after he violently threw up. I wasnt quite sure if he was still alive so I rushed him to PVSEC and they brought him back but said that since he was without oxygen for a while he would never be the same so we had to put him down. It was the most heart wrenching thing I have ever gone through to have seen my baby boy pass away twice and to be the one feeding him when it happened. There is always a part of me that will always question what really happened because even though aspiration was listed as the final cause of his death I still believe something else was going on. I have pictures of him earlier that day and he didnt even look like himself. My hubby and I loved him with all our hearts and pray that one day we get to see him again.
We will get more cats someday but not right now since we still have Gimzo our IBD cat to take care of. We are so happy to still have Gizmo. I always say he is a miracle cat every single day he's here is a blessing. He's had a hiatal hernia, IBD, ulcers, cholangeohepatitis, pancreatitis and his gallbladder removed and he still is the happiest boy in the world. I think animals really are just so amazing and to find that unconditional love is really something special.
Here is a pic of our baby T that was taken just a few months before he passed. He always looked like a kitten to me.

Thank you very much for the nice words about Tank and for praying for Gizmo. I look at him every single day and tell him he needs to live to at least be 20. Its so true animals cant tell us whats wrong which sometimes makes it so hard to figure out how they are really feeling. One thing I can say is through this ordeal I have learned so much and realized that I am way stronger than I ever thought I was. You will figure this out too but it takes time. Just try not to rush yourself through this grieving process its hard but you will get through it I know that. If you ever need to talk you can always pm me too.

Thanks guys, he is (and he knows it). He recently reached 11 pounds of weight. Congratulations for your decision Skip, and good luck, you won't regret it.

Just want to remind those of you who have black cats to protect them now that Halloween is approaching. Unfortunately there are still many superstitions, ignorance and ancient folk beliefs that are particularly dangerous for blacks cats (and dogs) during this time of the year.

Unfortunately yes, shelters usually suspend the adoptions of black cats during the Halloween period in order to avoid adoptions by ill-intentioned people.
I know, I had to keep Perla at home as well during this period for the 15 years she's been alive, sometimes it was a real challenge; occasionally she managed to sneak out through the window insect screen. Fortunately our neighborhood isn't particularly dangerous but all the commotion is a problem for pets too.

Sisternightroad you new cat is incredible - stunning face, coat and eyes!

Macfanforever I'm sorry to hear about Buttons and I really hope you find a new kitten soon.

I don't know if anyone can help....I've been trying to post a photo of my cat - the photo of Stevie with cat in the VIP thread today reminded me. How do I attach a photo with a file size over 100kb? !?! My computer knowledge is very basic

Thank you, he is awesome.

However you can't attach a big size picture, what you have to do is upload your photo on a hosting site like this one: https://postimage.org/
and then use the "Insert Image" feature, which is the second icon from the right of the quick reply bar.

Great, thanks. I'm sure I asked the same question on here once before. I had a vague idea that I had to upload the photo somewhere else.

It's a bit late for me to figure it out tonight, but as soon as I can I'll post a photo of Sammi. It's very difficult getting good photos of him. He doesn't like the camera and doesn't like posing - he'll often just run off. But I've got a couple so I'll try to upload them. He's completely black which also it makes it harder to get good photos, although he's very striking with his green eyes and gets many compliments.

^^^ Zoe is gorgeous, lovely grey coat. I really like the 2nd photo even if she wasn't in the best of moods that day.

I'm not having much luck with uploading photos. Postimage doesn't want to accept the password it gave me in order for me to set up an account  Still I did manage to load some photos on there but now I'm having trouble uploading them on here

I can't get the insert image icon to work. So here is a link to a photo which should work. Its not the best photo but for some reason when I try the other links to the other photos they don't now work

Thanks sisternightroad, he's actually a he :) I didn't realise Sammi was a female version of the name Sammy, I just preferred the spelling. It took me ages to find a name that suited him - he was Puss for a month or so. He's very gentle and not very big and quite feminine really.

He was a rescue and kept getting left as people prefer other colours of cats. I was actually looking for a different colour for a change as I'd lived with black cats before (not mine, a friends). But I just couldn't leave him. He was in a pen with a large ginger tom who was bullying him, and as soon as he was handed to me, he ran up me and clung to my neck. He wasn't in a great condition but he recovered really well and he's been a great pet - very affectionate and laid back.

Thanks for your advice with posting photos, I'll try again tomorrow, I don't think my tired head could deal with it right now.

Thanks so much! She's really a sweetie, and loves having her own dog. It just took a little while for her to come around.

Sammi is gorgeous, and that photo is stunning with the way his eyes look silver.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I felt like sharing my babies.

My sweet (but sometimes grumpy) old man, Tiny. He's 17 years old and in kidney failure, but is on a special diet and subcutaneous fluids at home and is doing pretty well.
http://www.angelfire.com/music6/walteregan/photoshare/2018/tinyat17.jpg

My well-meaning but pain in the rear 6 year old, Jasper. I got him when he was 5 months old. He'd spent two months(!) in the shelter before I got him.
http://www.angelfire.com/music6/walteregan/photoshare/2018/jaspertail.jpg

My cheeky b-hole rat, Smalls. He's about 15 months old. He had a cagemate named Yeah-Yeah, but sadly Yeah-Yeah became very ill and passed away not long ago, despite treatment so Smalls is my only rat right now.

I also have three freshwater planted aquariums with White Cloud Minnows, amano shrimp, cherry shrimp, and assorted snails.
