Lately I've become totally and utterly obsessed with Wide Sargasso Sea. No idea why but lately I have it on repeat in my car. It's not a song I've ever been particularly enamoured with until recently.
It got me thinking, do you guys have any Stevie songs that have crept up on you like that? Songs you weren't particularly fond of, or didn't strike you as instant favourites, but are now songs you can't get enough of? I'm sure I'm not the only one who has a slow burning Stevie favourite!

for me it was In Your Dreams... never really caught my ear until I saw the recording of it in the doc

Quite a few. The Highwayman, Gate & Garden, All The Beautiful Worlds, Hard Advice, Love Changes, Long Way To Go. I think Stevie's songs take time to have their greatest impact on an individual, which is one of the reasons I listen to her so much.

I feel that the whole TISL album did a slow burn on me. I actually liked TFFT most upon the first listens and it wasn't until about 2 years in that my appreciation for the other songs deepened tremendously.

The OSOTM album, in and of itself, was a "slow burn" (I love this description) for me! Only a few songs had grown on my over the years, but the rest of the album had started resonating with me a few months back and now I can't get enough of it.
Also "Blue Water" and "She Loves Him Still" from 24KG. For my own selfish reasons, I loathed them both at first because she didn't record them the way I THOUGHT they needed to be recorded. Once I got over myself, and started to appreciate her vision of them, I really started to love them.
Regarding "RAL", the song "If I Were You" took a while to grow on me and is now one of my favs!

All of her obvious clunkers took a while for me to warm up to. The entire Street Angel album took me for a loop. I didn't know how to process it. It took a long time to put it into context.
"If I Were You" is a perfect example of a song that needed time to appreciate. While I might have said "I don't really need this in my life, why don't we forget about it?"
Apparently I did need it, and never forgot about it.

The major slow-burner for me is The highwayman since at first I despised and considered it the only weak element on the otherwise perfect Bella Donna album.
With time and life it came to gain a meaning for me and now I actually find it very touching.

*New Orleans (it took a visit there to change my feelings for this song - truly a magical city dripping with atmosphere - I totally get the song, now)
*Street Angel (that guitar!!)
*I Will Run To You (Often cited by many as a most-hated track from The Wild Heart -perhaps you just have to have had a certain set of circumstances to 'get it')
Those are my slow burners. The list of songs I once loved but slowly grew to feel apathy towards is longer.

The entire Street Angel album took me for a loop.
Without my great admiration for Barry,
Street Angel would have thrown me for
a loop too.
I can't think of any Nicks slow burns.
I guess there is no fire burning...
