My first Stevie Nicks concert was 1983. I sat in section C in the Pittsburgh Civic arena with binoculars that gave me HBO concert quality. It also was my first concert. During the "Edge" walk I saw so many fans greeting Stevie and guys were even kissing her hand like a princess. I just was floored to see this and was jealous of these people but it was just too magical for me to ever imagine happening. I actually felt fear if that makes any sense. I was 13 and like most early teenagers (who idolized rock stars) my room was covered wall to wall Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks stuff. It ranged from big rare posters to just small clips. It was total and complete idol worship. I was so into the concert that I had butterflies in my stomach. Years later I would always see the edge walk and never imagined I would ever get so close or so lucky.

Stevie had just finished a hugely successful Dance tour with the Mac. Her solo career also was kick started with a national tour and Enchanted box set release. I was now 28 and living in West Palm Beach, Florida. What the hell.....I don't think I have anyone that would want to go with me so let me try to buy one ticket and as close as I could. I called one of those ticket companies that specializes in front row seating or VIP seating. I asked for one ticket. The guy told me they don't sell one ticket. They must be in a pair. Then he said....hold on....I do have one ticket. I think it was in row 8 on the right side of the stage. Sold. The ticket was sent to me and I think I paid around $300 for it. That was a lot of money for a concert ticket in 1998.
I was excited to see a stage so close. This was the time the crazy guy was on the loose and thought Stevie had magical powers. I remember the security director coming to the stage to really look over many faces in the crowd before the show started. Boz Scaggs opened the show and did a good job. Stevie came out and did a great set....probably the best set list of her solo career. Right before Edge of 17 everyone made a break for the stage and I was one of them. I was looking to the left and Stevie was headed my way. Total panic filled my body. The person who I had idolized for most of my life was heading my way. I was so excited that I almost passed out. It was a serious panic attack. It was like someone gave me a shot of some drug. I was not in reality. But Stevie kept getting closer and closer. What do I do? What do I say? This had been the moment I dreamed would never ever happen to me. Deep fear set in. She kept getting closer and closer and fear, excitement, and panic filled my body. There was a couple right next to me and the girl got on her boyfriend's shoulders and the girl shook both of Stevie's hands and yelled "I LOVE YOU." Now I thought that is what I must say. My mind was blank and I could not think. I reached both of my hands up not knowing what to expect. Stevie grabbed BOTH of my hands and looked down at me. I tried to say "I love you" but I was mush mouth and only sounds came out. All I could think is STEVIE NICKS JUST TOUCHED BOTH OF MY HANDS. I really was light headed and almost fell over. The adrenaline was pumping all through my body. I felt invincible. I was high as a kite. Edge ended and she came back out for "I need to know." When the concert ended I was so high that when I got to my car I kept making wrong turns on the way home (even though I knew where to go). When I got home, I was still in shock. I started calling my family late at night telling them about it. I was in a dream. And it was a dream come true. I had the flashback to 1983 watching the "edge walk" with binoculars in awe of those in that line.

I know this may sound silly or exaggerated. But every word is true. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? And it is true.... Stevie has the softest hands ever. I have never felt skin so soft.

So happy for you that you had that experience. :) I saw Stevie twice in the summer of 1989, at Poplar Creek in Illinois, when she was on tour for "The Other Side of the Mirror". I was with my boyfriend, and we were standing, and when I heard the beginning riff to "Edge of Seventeen", and saw everyone rushing the stage, that's when I made my move. He looked one way, and I was gone...making my way to the stage. The intensity of the song made it that much more intense, as my legs felt like jello, and my heart was pounding from the excitement. I got right up to the stage, and saw her heading my way. She was smiling, and I shook her hand, and yes...she had the softest hands I've ever felt. That was a very special moment, and the best concert experience I ever had.

Great story! I experienced all of the above three years later during the TISL tour. I was lucky enough to get a front row ticket in Nashville. She did the same thing during the "Edge walk".. Grabbed both my hands, looked me in the eyes, smiled and said "Thank you!"

Agreed about her soft skin! So delicate. But another thing I noticed was how great she SMELLED...even after a two hour show of twirling in the Summer heat. I wish I knew what perfume she had on.

I mentioned in a previous thread that during this same show (while she was performing "Enchanted") she noticed that I was the only one in my row on my FEET dancing, and she made it a point to walk over to me, shake her tambourine during the musical interlude before the bridge ("You were gone. You were gone from me..." part) and smile. I froze! The voice of rock and roll was acknowledging my existence!

She didn't disappoint that night! She was on!!!
