In the liner notes for Bella Donna, Stevie gives credit to Bill Cosby's house.
With all the news lately, I wonder what the connection was there? I certainly hope that they used the house for photos and that he wasn't anywhere near her, Sharon or Lori.

Oh my god I forgot about that.

Wasn't there any interview where Stevie said someone slipped her "heroin or something" and she kicked them out and never spoke to them again? Might not be related, but who knows.

Something like that, yes... Let me see if I can find some of the photos that I think were taken at Cosby's. I know there's one that we all know from the inner sleeve with the bed...

There are some outtakes out there as well. I ***think*** this is Cosby's house but I'm not sure. The furnishings are quite beautiful.

Stevie and the girls were actually staying in the house during the recording of Bella Donna ..wonder if there were any hidden cameras?

Oh my, so we're staring at a picture of what is potentially Bill Cosbys bed... Wow...

Anyone have any idea how that came about? Makes you wonder, did he seek her out, given that hey there's this wildly popular young female singer and... Ugh, sorry, no doubt I'm not the only one thinking this though... Even setting aside the scandal, how random is that, Bill Cosby and Stevie? Weird.

Found this.
Bill Cosby's home. On Thanksgiving Day 1981, Miles [Davis] marries Cicely Tyson here. Miles said he was so sick he didn't remember getting married. Some of the guests included Dizzie Gillespie, Max Roach, and Dick Gregory.

This house is in Massachusetts, but FM was in Boston for three days in late 1979, and Stevie might have done something then. Probably not the right house, but who knows lol.

that exterior shot looks like the house that Stevie sold to George Clooney.

So presumably she bought it from Cosby?

Those interior furnishings are Stevie's so I doubt it's his house.

Maybe she rented his house for a time before buying her next house, whatever it was?

Well that one is in Amherst, Massachusetts, so I don't think that would work. The interior of the pictures actually looks like THIS (http://2282elcontentodrive.com/) house, which Stevie owned from the late 70's until after the Mirage Tour. But none of the windows match that specific placement?

yeah she bought the house that Clooney now has after the El Contento house. I think he bought it sometime in..late 90s? early 2000s? can't recall. It's up in the hills; we located it once on a FM scavenger hunt around LA.

But I think she also in her flakey way has rented houses even when she's owned houses. I mean, even now she owns at least 2 (the condo and the big house); she's talked about her 'trailer by the ocean' but don't know if that means she already owns one or is planning to. She likes bouncing around.

Could it be in Phoenix??

She definitely could have rented the house seen in these pictures. I don't think it's the Phoenix house, because according to goldduststevie's tumblr, Stevie purchased it in 1982, after Bella Donna.

The Clooney house (I think) she sold to him in 1995, but she had to have bought it sometime in 1982, because the song Sable on Blond is supposed to be about her moving into her new old scary house?

I did a little google search because I could have sworn Stevie mentioned renting Bill Cosbys house.
Sure enough, I came across an article here (http://fleetwoodmac-uk.com/wp/vision-quest-stevie-nicks-performing-songwriter/):

What do you recall about the making of the album? (Bella Donna)

"We rented Bill Cosby’s house in the Palisades. We worked for about two months with [keyboardist] Benmont Tench, Lori and Sharon in the living room at the grand piano every day. We played and sang all the songs on Bella Donna over and over until we had them down perfect. It was so much fun. We were like Joni Mitchell and Crosby, Stills & Nash, living in this great house and making music in [ L.A.’s] Laurel Canyon. It was one of those real rock ‘n’ roll experiences that you can ever forget. Then we went into the studio, and the record only took three months because we were so rehearsed and practiced and excited—and not spoiled rotten, not self-indulgent. By the time the record came out, Fleetwood Mac was tapping their feet like, “Where the hell are you?” So I only did 12 shows and flew to Paris the next day to join Fleetwood Mac for [the recording of 1982’s] Mirage."

They probably took those photos there.

thanks for posting this link, I had not seen this article. There's some great stuff in it.

Loved this part, she's so blunt about that psychiatrist (the words are not starred out in the actual article)

How did you get off Klonopin?
I walked into the psychiatrist’s office for the last time in 1993 and said, “I’m going to a hospital, you asshole.” He’s going, “I don’t think you should do that. We can drop your dose a bit.” I said, “You **** yourself, you bastard.” And I went straight to a hospital. I believe that had I not done that, I would have been dead within a year. I went into rehab for 47 days. I went through the worst detox, and I nearly died there.

George's house was on 60 minutes Person To Person years ago.

I think Stevie always had a house in Scottsdale (I mean even after her parents moved). She lived somewhere in Camelback in the 1970s after her surgery, because she once said she recuperated there and wrote "Gold Dust Woman."

The interior of the mansion on "Bella Donna" looks so Stevie Nicks. Hard to believe it isn't hers.

Another minor mystery is what John Stewart might have meant when he thanked her for the "use of her wall."

I would love for someone to ask her... I bet she'd remember. ;)

not a mystery. Herbie took a photo in her house that was used on the back cover of his album "Bombs Away Dream Babies" (the one that had Gold and Midnight Wind, songs on which she sang). There's a pic of his white guitar against a rounded white door with small glass panes around it (much like the rounded windows in the Bella Donna sleeve photo. Dunno if same house or not).

She said in an interview that that door was the door to the room Sharon moved into when she came over from Hawaii after first meeting Stevie and Stevie invited her to be in her solo band. She called the room her "library".

I think you are the only one thinking this. Renting a house is a not an unusual business agreement. I doubt that Bill Crosby was casually coming by and hanging out while they working. Chances are that they never saw him.

There is a very prominent street called Gold Dust Avenue in the Camelback area. I find it hard to believe there isn't a connection.
Wasn't there a photo of a beautiful wall on one of Stew's records? Or am I thinking of Walter Egan? Or just imagining the whole thing...

I hope you're right but TimeCast is not the only one thinking it. The guy is a sexual predator IMO and it's not out of the realm of possibility. Like I said, I hope he never went anywhere near the girls. I'm sure he was aware of who was renting his house.

Thanks for saying this, because I couldn't help the thought. I also doubt anything happened but I would also assume she likely had to have had known him at least somewhat, like I said, controversy with Cosby or not, i really wonder how it is she ended up renting his house. Occurs to me now he could have had it up on the market and they never met but my original thought was her renting it because she knew him somehow and liked the house or whatever... We definitely know Stevie has tons of famous friends and the celebrity world is a rather small world of its own, so I guess I given how many celeb friendships we've heard of Stevie having and all, my mind went there first, and not specifically of the bill Cosby stuff going on (and I agree, sounds like he's got a very dark side to him, to put it as kindly as possible). So that's really more of what was going through my head, it's not, in opinion so unrealistic to think it's very possible they knew and even spent time with one another at some point. I realize now, obviously renting someone's house doesn't have to mean that but that possibility has slipped my mind the first time around. I assume the Cosby stuff is what made the original poster bring this up in the first place, hence further explaining my thoughts. I would of course never wish or want that horror to happen to anyone.

From what his victims have said, he put a lot of time and effort into pursuing them.
The thought about the liner note just crossed my mind. And I can't speak for anyone else but even if I was wealthy and had a bunch of houses, I think I would have a pretty good idea as to who was living in them. I would have to agree with whomever pointed out earlier that those are Stevie's furnishings. They're so her. I wonder how long they actually lived there? It was a good call by Herbie to shoot there. The place definitely made for good photographs. I also wondered if it is featured in the commentary for Crystal Visions where Stevie and Lori are dancing? It would certainly fit the time period.
