Great news. She probably do another skit with Jimmy.
What song could they do.
She could go on the David Letterman show that week too since she will have alittle over a week off from the tour.

Oh my god, that is just the best news! :] This fantastic album will get the bit of promotion it deserves. If she performs 'Landslide' or 'Edge of Seventeen' then I'll kill her.
I think '24 Karat Gold' would be the best song to perform. :)

When Mick & Lindsey took Stevie out into the studio parking lot to tell her that they had taken "Silver Springs" off of the record in favor of an LB tune.

Oho ooh - if she can only sing one song, I hope it's The Dealer.
If she can perform two songs, I hope they are Mabel Normand and 24 Karat Gold.
I am resigned to her performing Landslide and Stand Back, however.
Jimmy's probably going to ask where the rest of the band is.

I feel like she'll do at least one track from 24KG, and then Landslide or something. OR (!!!) She'll try to replace Landslide with Lady, and sing Mabel Normand or 24KG and Lady
I would probably pass out lol.

She could do a Leather and Lace skit with Jimmy and do a 24K song.
She will be here in Hartford on the 1st for the Mac show so they have a day or so to rehearse the skit.

actually they replaced Silver Springs with another one of her tunes, I Don't Wanna Know

And that almost singlehandedly made Stevie pursue a solo career. Must've been infuriating for Stevie with Tusk too, when she saw everything Lindsey wrote make that album. She probably didn't think too highly of his songwriting ability or appreciate the angry songs.

Stevie may have written it but I've always considered it more of a LB song than a Stevie song just like the first versions of "Crystal".

She definitely made The Chain work...those are her lyrics. I've always believed Fleetwood Mac was best when Stevie was in the studio. Not when she comes in at the end to add her vocals to other songs. Someone has to say that Lindsey's songs are **** before they are "on the album."

If she performs one of the 4 promo singles, then I'm praying for "24 Karat Gold". There are no really "high" notes like on "Lady" or "The Dealer" so she could EASILY perform this song and make it great!!!
If she performs a "non-single" track, then my wish is "All The Beautiful Worlds", although there ARE a few high notes in that one.
Now just watch, they'll let her perform 2 songs and she'll end up doing "Landslide" and f*cking "Stand Back"!!!:lol:

This is great news. And I don't why anyone is even remotely worried that she'll play a landslide or stand back. She's playing without fleetwood Mac in the middle of the fleetwood Mac tour. She's obviously playing a 24KG song. I'm gonna guess either the title song or starshine.

My dream would be if Jimmy asked Bill Hader to come on his show to impersonate Lindsey. Then they would do a Fleetwood mac re-enactment of Gypsy.
Aside from that I am praying she sings 24 Karat Gold!!

OMG I would love it if she performed 24K gold. That is the one song that I have to listen to every single day since I got the CD. I am dying for a Stevie tour now with new songs. I really enjoyed seeing Fleetwood Mac in Pittsburgh and will probably go to Cleveland to see them again but there is nothing like a tour with new material. I wish there was like a 6 week break before the 2nd leg of the tour starts.

I second that. She would blow everybody away with I Don't Care. Also love Mabel Normand. They both rock and suit her today voice very well. But I'm guessing it will be one of the 3 singles or 24K Gold. Hoping for 24.
Don't know how Stevie does it. The other members of FM will be resting during the brief break between shows and Stevie as always will be off doing promo for the solo album. The woman must have the energy of a 20 year old. But she does pull it off. All power to her. She's amazing.

Excited to see this performance. This is a hard song to sing, and I hope she nails it.
I can see why she chose something simple like "Lady." For something else, she'd need to fly her full band out to the show. They'd have to spend a few days rehearsing, etc. She doesn't have the time. With "Lady" it's just her and someone on the piano.
Can't wait!

I say she only sings Lady. Anne Hathaway and Gael Bernal are the other guests. I think Fallon will do a sketch with Anne.

Jimmy typically gets involved in some manner with his musical guests.
Leather and Lace is a very good guess! I'm not crazy about her singing Lady. The Dealer or 24 Karat Gold are more preferable.
Maybe Lady is more suitable because she might not have her solo band with her. Lady only requires a piano; Jimmy's resident piano player could easily fill that role.

Due to the fact that Stevie is performing a song from the new album, it will surely garner interest in it.
Hopefully Jimmy mentions the album and doesn't just say "singing Lady, it's Stevie Nicks". A nice introduction with the CD in hand would be nice.
This could be some great promotion and could provide '24 Karat Gold' with a little more longevity which it really needs. :)

Yes .The Tonight Show is one of the oldest and the longest running late night chat shows on the tele since it started in 1954 with Steve Allen.
I would be honored if I was a guess on the show.
I wish Jimmy would do the fan questions to the guests like he did on his old show.
I would not mind getting another shot getting on TV asking Stevie something again.LOL.........

A misunderstanding. I never inferred that Jimmy chooses which song Stevie sings. I'm saying, given his natural musical ability, he typically performs in some manner with his musical guests. Aside from Stevie performing her song (of her choice of course!), we might also get a surprising, fun duo performance between them.

Its popular demand. The problem is the public wants to hear the hits and dont want to hear any new stuff.
The same thing at concerts too.A regular concert goer probably goes to the bathroom or get some refreshments as the band or artist play a new tune.
Stevie ,The Mac would love to do news music on TV or live shows. The general public ruins it for us fans.

It usually just depends. Stevie has gotten a good share of both performing AND being interviewed. Letterman, Leno, Rosie and Ellen to name a few. However, with three other guests, it doesn't bode well for her being interviewed.

I remember watching this show live. Stevie was acting odd and being typically eccentric, I found it creepy that she was so silent initially -- just nods and gestures. Then she did something guests usually don't do -- she sat sideways on the chair, ignored the other guest and entirely blocked him out of the scene. It felt awkward and uncomfortably rude watching it now as it did then. I know that wasn't her intention. But it was a really daffy, odd moment.

I still think the song works better if she stops when you *think* it has ended and doesn't tack on that extra, belted-out part.
But I think she sounded great. She was pretty exposed, ie., no music to hide behind. That piano wasn't gonna cover up any mistakes she might make, so I give her kudos for a great job.
Now if we can just kill the hand gestures…..(they were pretty tame however, in comparison to the awful Say You Will hand flapping)
Thanks for posting Macfanforever!!

Wasn't every song a new in a moment in time? If the "public" only demanded old familiar songs, there would be no need for new songs. Just because an artist has been lucky to have a body of hit songs that everyone is familiar with, that should not prohibit nor inhibit them from performing new songs. The most famous songs were new songs to begin with. If artists didn't introduce them, perform them-- taking the chance to challenge their audience with them, they wouldn't have become hits in the first place.
Old bands depend on an established fan base that wants to hear the old classics as well as new songs. Their challenge is establishing new classic hits and staples by appealing to new fans decades apart. It's no easy task, but it's possible.
I love that Stevie gave a stellar performance of Lady on Jimmy's show. It doesn't matter if it's not a charter-busting song, and not well-worn "general public" pleaser. It's the difference between being an old jukebox and a true artist. Tonight, Stevie was an artist. And that really pleases me! If any portion of general public has any sense of taste, they will follow

for IYD she never really "nailed" one of the new songs on the live TV shows. Secret Love was kinda "blah" every time she did it, not to mention those first couple performances she was sick as a dog. At least this time she has a new song, a strong statement of a song, sounded pretty damn close to how she sounds on the album, and the people who like it will listen to it on iTunes and download it. Hopefully they get the album too.
Rhiannon sounded just as good now as it did when she first did The Piano version on Storytellers back in 1998. The echo and reverb made it even more dreamy though. Good job Girl!
And that LONG skirt and whatever platform boots she was wearing really make her big old lady bootay and over the hill waist line look smaller! I think she could have shown a LITTLE bit more cleavage though. ;-)

As much as I loved Rhiannon, you're absolutely right. Lady, as lovely as it is, isn't a good representation of the album as a whole. People may think it's all ballads and pass on it. I have to respectfully disagree about Cathouse Blues. Lady already seems like a Broadway/Vaudeville song... throwing Cathouse Blues on top of it would just magnify that caricature.

Most big arena shows of old bands are filled with casual fans who came to see the hits. They have no interest in something they've never heard before. That's not why they came to the show. The fan base that is interested in new stuff is a small portion of these audiences. I've seen time and time again the mass exodus to bathrooms during new songs or even deep cuts sometimes.
They played a lot of new stuff from SYW on that album's tour but now they don't play any and these audiences aren't clamoring for them to do so and likely don't even know those songs.

Jimmy showed the vinyl off as much as he possibly could and mentioned the album a lot in his introduction and closing words.
Shouldn't the album now get a sales boost? She's also been on the Today Show this morning and they mentioned the album quite a bit, also showing off the vinyl.
The album has only moved up slightly on the Amazon albums chart and isn't what I was expecting seeing how much they showed and mentioned the album. However, it is now at #75 on the iTunes albums chart and #9 on the Rock albums chart which is a huge jump from the #60 Rock chart position it was at yesterday. That's from the Today Show though. :)

She performed the song at just the right length it should have been on album; the studio is a bit too tedious. It was very brave of her to perform Rhiannon just playing the piano, since she really isn't a master at it. There were quite a few lyrical ad-libs which seem to be very impromptu. I wonder if there are any other songs she can play on the piano besides Rhiannon.

I thought she did a great job. Just wish she'd stop having to adjust her volume thingy. I makes her look like she has an itch she's trying to scratch. As opposed to the official Lady video, I can actually watch this performance more than once...Great job!

Jimmy Fallon introduced Stevie Nicks, who is currently on tour with Fleetwood Mac. She sang one of her latest songs, Lady, off of her solo album 24 Carat Gold. Stevie has an amazing, very cool voice. When she sings Landslide, it is kind of magical. She was dressed in a black dress, looking very classy and regal. She has a dreamy quality to her voice. Lady sounded pretty amazing. Stevie Nicks still has one of the best singing voices of any rock female singer around.

I finally got around to seeing her performance of Lady on Fallon. Wow, she did a great job! It's on par with the album version the entire way through, and in some parts preferred.
Good for her. Maybe, just maybe, the Mac will let her perform this on the second leg of the American tour? One can dream.
