Ok, I personally only have respect and adoration (and lust) for Robert Plant, but our Stevie's solo career is much more meaningful to me.

I typically don't care about things like this, but maybe I'm in a sensitive mood tonight, because reading the couple of comments at the bottom (which I should know better to by now) pissed me off. Dudes and their sexist BS writing off Stevie's accomplishments and contributions to music. It's one thing to prefer Robert Plant, but don't diminish another influential artist to raise him up.
Yeah, it's nothing new, as people have talked about Stevie like that throughout at lot of her career. But these days she's well-respected by fellow music artists, including the young crowd, and even music critics seem to get it now. If only the dunderheaded classic rock fanboys would recognize it too.

Some people will always bash another artist to justify their own tastes. Sometimes I think it's inadvertent, but not often.

Two of rock’s most charismatic and poetic singers — Robert Plant and Stevie Nicks — square off for the right to advance to the finals of the 100 percent fan-voted Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame competition.
Every month, our readers will decide which of eight legendary artists or bands will be honored for their contributions to the genre. This particular battle’s contestants have a lot more in common that just great hair and a hippie-dippy fashion sense.
They both are, or were, integral members of two of rock’s most important bands (Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin, as if you needed that), and each also managed to strike out on their own with remarkable solo careers. Nicks took Billy Idol to school in round one, beating the ‘Rebel Yell’ star by more than a two-to-one margin, and Plant beat out Phil Collins — his one-time guest drummer — just as handily.
So who gets to move onto the finals? It’s your call. You can vote once a day between now and Monday, Oct. 27, at 11:59 PM EST. This month’s winner will be announced on November 4. Be sure to read our official rules.

I totally understand you, I thought I would post and vote just for fun but seeing some insensitive comments made me uncomfortable. It's almost 2015 and people are still stuck with narrow-minded and sexist beliefs about what is rock and what's not. A ****ing machismo tradeshow.
So I thought that since these people just want to begin a ****storm, instead of responding directly, I would just do everything I could to make Stevie win, just for a bit of satisfaction.
SO VOTE ANYTIME YOU CAN!

Such is the nature of the Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame that we often get disparate acts pitted against each other. But even we’d be hard-pressed to recall a pairing like this month’s finals, which matches Dio against Stevie Nicks.
Every month, our readers decide which of eight legendary artists or bands will be honored for their contributions to the genre. Now you’ve got to choose between a true rock goddess and one of the most beloved bands of ’80s metal.
To reach the finals, Nicks easily sent Billy Idol back to dancing with himself in the first round, followed by a comfortable win over fellow blonde bombshell Robert Plant in the semifinals. Dio, for his part, destroyed Nicks’ one-time duet partner Don Henley in the opener and beat Stevie Ray Vaughan in the semis by an almost similar margin.
If there’s anything these two acts have in common, it’s that we’re honoring their achievements under their own name rather than with the groups with which they first became famous: Nicks with Fleetwood Mac and Dio namesake Ronnie James Dio as a member of Black Sabbath.
So who will be this month’s inductee into the Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame? That’s entirely up to you. You can vote once a day between now and Monday, Nov. 3, at 11:59 PM EST, with the winner be announced on Nov. 4. Be sure to read our official rules.

STEVIE WON!!! Thanks to all of you fellow ledgies!
Now that my little feminine mania of vengeance has faded, I just want to point out that unlike Plant and Led Zeppelin fans, I (we) have the maximum respect for Robert Plant, of whom Stevie is a friend and admirer too, and the similarity between him and Stevie both as lyricists and performers is greater than most of his fans would acknowledge.
Also, this was a poll about the competitors' SOLO careers achievings (also both Led Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac have already been inducted in the previous matches) and thus the gap between the level of the two singers-songwriters is even smaller; and let's face it, for how great Robert Plant is, his solo career relies heavily upon Led Zeppelin.
Yes, this was a rather silly poll, but I like to think that it's a small step towards a bit of acknowledgement for Stevie, as I have always seen even among her greatest fans and FM fans themselves a compliant attitude towards their favourite band, saying things like "I love them, but I know that they aren't the best/the most important/the greatest etc." while fans of other bands advocate arrogantly and ignorantly the supremacy of their favourite group; to be honest it's sad.
We always hope that FM and Stevie gain more recognition, reward and praise but rarely we do promote the idea ourselves, sometimes it almost seems like we're waiting for our favourite band to be academically acknowledged before having the guts to proclaim it so.
From my point of view it should be the other way around, also because who would acknowledge an artist if even his or her most affectionate fans declare that it's not the greatest? Even if it's a silly statement, it's the most natural thing to say about your favourite band or singer.
So don't forget to vote again:

Not to tear down your enthusiasm guys, but even if you refresh the page and vote again the site doesn't count your vote, in fact you can see that the number doesn't grow from the previous time you voted and the response of the site is different: instead of "thanks for voting etc." it says "we have already counted your vote...".
Let's play fair, vote anytime you can during the day, we have a whole week to overturn the position!
And let's not forget our respect fot Ronnie James Dio that recently passed away; and by the way even if he's not our Stevie, we have to admit that he's agreat vocalist,"rainbow in the dark" rocks, and that there is no shame to lose against him.
Now let's kick his ass!

I've taken a sick day off from work and I will be voting once per hour. ROCK ON, GOLD DUST WOMAN! Put that Dio band in beloved exile !!!

Just read this pearl on the comments, at least this time there's only one rotten apple:
Unfortunately with most of these comical polls on this site, it comes down to popularity over reality. The reality is Nicks is one of the most overrated entertainers on the planet. If it wasn't for Buckingham demanding that she tag along when Mick asked him to join, she would have been a career back up singer. Ya, she had a successful solo run, but who was her competition? Madonna and Whitney Houston? Seems like she had to sleep with someone to get a decent song. Buckingham, Petty, Henley, I'm sure the list is long. Nick's coke nasal rasp of a voice could never touch the soul driven range of Ronnie. RJD created music and toured mostly non stop for fifty years. RJD was also highly respected among his peers, can't say the same about little Stevie. Face it, it she didn't have the T&A and a extremely talented boyfriend and wasn't at the Sound City recording studio on the day Mick met Lindsey, she would have never would have made it. Regardless of how this poll tallies up Nicks ain't no RJD! Long live the music of the man on the silver mountain.
Now sorry if I repeat myself but VOTE!
AND VOTE FAIRLY OR YOUR VOTE WILL BE WASTED.

Of course you will vote for Dio cause it would be " non-brutal " to vote Stevie Nicks even tho you know she has more talent to offer compared to Dio.
Im a metalhead too, but i can appreciate every talent coming from other genre.
You're just being biased.
Youre one of the reasons why most people hate metalheads cause your logic is like :
If he / she is not metal, he / she sucks
Only metal is good and anything else sucks.
Tsk tsk
Not all hope is gone for the new generation of rock fans!
VOTE! We regained 2 points today!!!

While it would be nice for Stevie to win, it really won't matter. It won't effect her career, nor her ego; it's very likely she doesn't even know or care about it. Only fans aware of the contest will suffer the disappointment. Stevie has already won the big game.
I hate reading the ignorant posted comments from inarticulate, clueless blowhards. Even when standing up for Stevie, they have to make an inexcusable dig at Lindsey:
" Does he even have a solo career. Then why didn't Buckingham bake himself a nice solo career outside of Fleetwood Mac to match Stevie's? He tried, you know... Still trying! He got to sing and play on BIG HITS written by, waaaait for iiiiit... STEVIE NICKS! :

You're right but you know that we all know that she doesn't care nor know about this, nor the family of Dio does care or know about this but this should have been a fun competition made for fans, and narrow-minded rock fans with masculinity problems turn it in a ****storm.
After all you said it yourself, it would be nice for her to win, so I think it would be even nicer to win after all those rubbish being said.
We're just doing a still fun and fair competion; I'm quite tired of men saying that she isn't "true rock" because she doesn't scream like a monkey/talk about ****s or death/dress like a stripper, and beside e Dio himself didn't do any of these things.
Everyone has to vote to get her past Dio now!

It’s official: Stevie Nicks is not a witch. If she was, she’d have used her magic to defeat Dio in the Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame semifinals.
Instead, the mob rules, and their votes have been counted: The Fleetwood Mac singer went down in a (cough) landslide, mustering a little over 36 percent of the vote — which left nearly 64 percent for her diminutive leather-lunged competition, decisively clearing the way for one of the true titans of ’80s metal to enter our hallowed Hall.
Those lopsided results in the final round were part of a pattern for Dio, who trounced Stevie Ray Vaughan in the semifinals after mopping the floor with Don Henley on the opening ballot. Of course, the selection process for these battles often means the voters aren’t making apples-to-apples comparisons when they take to the polls, but the message is still clear: Ultimate Classic Rock readers love them some Ronnie James Dio, and we’re proud to bestow this 100 percent fan-voted honor.
Dio made their official debut with 1983′s ‘Holy Diver,’ recorded following Ronnie’s exit from Black Sabbath (along with drummer Vinny Appice, who became part of the original Dio lineup). That album, along with 1984′s ‘The Last in Line’ and 1985′s ‘Sacred Heart,’ helped cement the band’s status as one of the more reliable sources for hard-hitting heavy metal — due in no small part to the presence of guitarist Vivian Campbell, whose exit presaged a period of heavy member turnover and declining sales.
Dio issued their final studio album in 2004, but Ronnie continued working until his death in 2010, later rejoining his former Black Sabbath bandmates to form the new group Heaven & Hell. Their sole studio album, ‘The Devil You Know,’ was released in 2009. Today, Dio’s legacy persists — living on partly through the efforts of the original band members that have reassembled as Last in Line— and we’re sure you’ll join us in raising our highest devil horn fingers in salute to this latest richly deserved honor. Welcome to the Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame, Dio!
