It's a gorgeous ending. I love how chummy Christine and Lindsey have been these last 5 months. It's magical.

fascinating to watch all the little nuances..

Like: what was that interaction between Stevie and Mick during the bows after Songbird? Stevie comes out of the wings, Mick is standing back to the crowd, arms up, and Stevie gives him a look and a hand gesture with both hands as if gesturing for him to stay back and she shakes her head no and says something to him that looks like "no" or "don't" or something along those lines…

Right at the beginning of that Chris reaches and touches Stevie's arm like she thinks they will hug or something but Stevie is so focused on Mick and what she doesn't want him to do that she totally misses Christine's gesture.

Then you see John count out the 1,2,3, FOUR cue for them all to bow…. Stevie and Lindsey kinda miss that --both times-- Stevie says something to Lindsey (presumably about that) he just keeps smiling.

Something was going on with Stevie and Mick…too funny. Wish I could have seen more, right where the tape ends Mick turns towards Stevie and Lindsey.

Can you tell this is what I do for a living??(document behavior in the workplace). ROFL

Well, Stevie was walking stiffly it seemed. I wondered if she was hurt. She looked like she was actually going to hold Mick's hand though, for the bow, but Mick had the hat in his hand. Stevie looked like she was asking Lindsey a question and she put her arm around his back, but he didn't seem to be answering.

I wish the tape had gone on longer.

Stevie had a very serious look on her face walking toward LB. Maybe, it was from Mick. In fact, that serious face is definitely for Mick.

watching again, I see at the second bow, Mick reaches over with his red top hat and sort of teasingly taps it against Stevie's foot, and she gives him a hand gesture to stop as they rise and then he turns to her and Lindsey and the tape stops. Would love to see a longer video of what comes next. Will have to check youtube

She had a serious look on her face as soon as she came around the corner. She was kind of frowny. Maybe she was telling Lindsey whatever Mick had done back stage when they were back there.

but it's from Chris's side of the stage so you don't see much of anything of Stevie and Lindsey with the piano in the way except a short glimpse.

However you do see Chris give Mick some sort of hand signal when she stands up from the piano that seems little-- "back off"-ish but hard to tell just what it means.

maybe he was in rare form that night

It's amusing to read all the speculation about Stevie's and Mick's interaction! After Stevie left the stage, Mick mentioned that he had a cold, and that Stevie is paranoid about getting sick! So not much deeper than that. ;)

I wonder exactly what Mick, Stevie and John are doing, during Songbird. Are they all huddled together and John is listening to the song and crying and Mick and Stevie are fighting with each other?

Oh, Stevie seemed to have something on her mind. Mick having a cold and playfully threatening to touch her when he knows she doesn't want that makes sense as we read their movements. But Stevie also seemed preoccupied.

we hadn't actually gotten to the speculating part yet.

I just noticed the behavior and was pointing it out and then we all got dissecting the behavior.

But thanks for that important piece of info… makes a lot of sense. And likely explains Chris' behavior of gesturing for him to stay back from her also. He does a playful pulling back thing to her when she does it. I'm sure the last thing SHE wants on her triumphant return is to be the reason for missing any shows!

So I have a few observations/comments on the two MSG shows, which were amazing. Even though I'm a little tired of some of the songs, when I hear them live they sound brand new again. As I posted before, the can see and feel the utter joy that the band has for Chris' return. John is pretty stoic but it was written all over Stevie, Mick and Lindsey's faces. It was so sweet to watch. When Stevie sang the verses of You Make Loving Fun she was looking at Chris with the cutest look on her face. Lindsey also seemed like a little kid and he did that slow motion weird dance that I haven't seen him do in a while. Maybe I just missed it. Other thoughts:

I don't understand the need for the second drummer.

GDW continues to mesmerize. They are now distorting her voice at the end which really adds to the vibe of the song.

The third back up singer freaked me out last night. At first I thought it was Sharon with a new do, then I thought Sharon was sick and this was her replacement. Both of these were wrong.

I'm So Afraid is particularly good on this tour, for whatever reason. Maybe it's the tight jeans. ;)

I found it very amusing to watch Stevie run her fingers through her hair or play with her tambo ribbons in between songs. She looked like she just couldn't be bothered with any of it. :D

Brett (he plays the keys, right?) is definitely playing the beginning of Silver Springs. I watched very carefully. Chris' fingers were no where near the keyboard.

Of the "new" songs being played, my favs were Seven Wonders, Over My Head and Say You Love Me. It was so good to hear these songs again, or for the first time.

I know I'm Not Wrong also rocked!!!! Funny how the songs I was complaining about being in the set turned out to be some of the most enjoyable moments.

I think it has to do with a small, yellow box that was tossed on stage during Landslide, or thereabouts. Well the box sat there and before NGBA started she went over to far stage left and said something to one of the techs. She seemed pissed. Then Karen promptly emerged from back stage and Stevie said something to her. I may be reading more into this but Karen had this look on her face like "what the F am I supposed to do about it?". So then she seemed to have a mini panic attack and then quickly went back stage again. Meanwhile, the show continues and the box is still sitting there, to the right of Stevie's mic stand. I then see Stevie and John talking and I'm pretty sure it's about the box. Stevie seems like she's trying to get John to agree with her (a big "am I right?" gesture) and was talking and motioning about bending over (like she can't) I'm not sure what song it was but when it was over Stevie looks over toward the tech she spoke to earlier, points at the box and mouths, "that's gotta go". Finally, a guitar tech picked up the box and left the stage. This probably all happened over the space of NGBA and the two songs that followed it, which I can't remember right now. The whole thing was very entertaining. I know Stevie could have picked up that box herself!!!:D

Thank you for embedding this. Budding? I had my P.I. license when Philip Marlowe was still in short pants!

You know, unless Mick was actually taunting Stevie offstage about touching her, I don't know why she thinks he might. He pretends he's going to touch John (and John gives him the cross sign) all of the time, but he didn't even come close to looking like he was going to reach for Stevie. Usually, they would hold each other for the group bow, but he had his hat in his hands, so she was safe.

I was watching NYC videos on youtube and I see what you guys are talking about. the crowd is not as excited as Chicago. But the most shocking discovery was during Songbird when Chris sings "But most of all, I wish it for myself", the crowd did not erupt in applause like EVERY Mac concert I have seen or heard since 1977. What's up with that? I thought New York was the best place to see concerts. I guess too many fussy millionaires who are not big Mac fans.

Well I, for one, am neither fussy nor a millionaire. However, I did note that the crowd was a peculiar mix between people who were reaaalllly into it, and others who looked like they wandered into the wrong building.

I brought my mother over for this, as the Mac is her favourite band and she never had the opportunity to see them when she was young. It was very special for us, however even though I am glad to have shared the experience, I felt awkward about going overboard with her about. I noted that there seemed to be a lot of people there with their parents. Certainly it can't account for the entirety of the crowd, but I wonder if there was some kind of subconscious "mind your manners, parents are here!" feeling going on. The day's long dark since I became an adult, but even I felt my mother's disapproving eye on me when I went for that 3rd beer!

There was a couple sitting next to my mother who sat with their arms folded THE ENTIRE TIME. It was if they were expecting dinner theatre. The entire Garden was on their feet for Go Your Own Way, but not these two! In fact, they left before the song ended!! I bet they throw great parties.

Security was quite rigid. I was right behind a guard and people were trying to break through all night. Some of them were getting a bit physical about it. But no dice.

Side note: My mother is now in love with Lindsey. I told her she's standing at the back of a very long line for that one!

And about the non-excited people, yeah, I don't get it either. I was row 16 on Lindsey's side at the United Center. The woman and her boyfriend next to me asked if I paid $1400. I responded no, $210, what'd you pay? She looked crestfallen and responded $1400 (total, for the two of them). The entire concert, they would politely applaud at the end of each song, but never had any emotion on their faces. No smiles, no singing, just stood there with their arms crossed. You'd think if you paid $1400, it'd be for a band you wanted to see and be happy about. I can understand not wanting to sing, but at least smile every once in awhile.

Ha! I check the 'fleetwood mac' and 'fleetwoodmac' tag as the show goes on if I'm not working, and there were quite a number of tweets mentioning going with parents. And a few from younger folks whose parents were there. I remember noticing it at the time because it was amusing. :D

It's still an interesting little moment, though. For sure. SnL need lessons on how not to become distracted when they're meant to be acting as a whole group to bow, bless them.

Ha! I remember at some of the European shows last year, Stevie would wipe the mic a little bit after she sang her portion of Sara at Linds' mic. Don't want to spread those sick germs to him but, hey, let him bury his head in your neck and hair; that's fine!

This was my first time seeing them with Christine. Saw the last couple of tours without her & I honestly thought at the time they sounded great without her & didn't miss her songs much. I now realize having Christine makes all the difference in the world... Plus, you couldn't help but notice (as many here have mentioned), the energy she has brought to the band, & how happy they all look this time around. I was also really touched to see both Christine and John individually get lots of love from the audience at different times...People cheered like crazy when John was introduced, & also during his "Chain" moment. Deafening cheers. It was heartwarming to see.

Intact Fleetwood Mac rocks with renewed vigor

Christine McVie rejoins group after 16-hear hiatus

NEW YORK — Their "dream girl" is back.

The members of Fleetwood Mac each took a moment Monday night at New York City's Madison Square Garden to welcome longtime bandmate Christine McVie back to the stage after a 16-year hiatus, thus restoring the band to its mid-1970s and most successful configuration.

In her trademark gypsy shawl, Stevie Nicks said the dream catchers she casts to the crowd each night finally netted her old friend. Lindsey Buckingham said her return marked "a beautiful, profound and poetic new chapter." Mick Fleetwood simply looked to the ceiling and shouted "Amen."

In between, they ripped through all their old hits with a fervor that belied their age.

The band opened with "The Chain," a song emblematic of Fleetwood Mac's lasting legacy, despite its many breakups and personal upheavals. The collective power of the three singers' voices belting out the song's refrain, "You would never break the chain," seemed to drown out the quarrels and drug-fueled rancor that tore them apart over the years.

The McVie-penned and long-dormant "You Make Loving Fun" was back on the set list, and upon hearing her sing the opening line, "Sweet, wonderful you," the crowd erupted in an approving roar. McVie, 71, looked comfortable and happy to be back. Her voice was strong and a welcome presence.

During the band's concert in New York City last year, guitarist, singer and songwriter Buckingham, singer and songwriter Nicks, drummer Fleetwood, and Christine's ex-husband and bassist John McVie powered through their catalog of classics. But despite a purposeful performance, it was hard to not feel shortchanged by the exclusion of Christine McVie's songs.

With her return to the fold this time around, however, the band was free to explore its entire repertoire, including McVie's songs "Over My Head," "Little Lies" and "Everywhere."

One of the highlights of the night was "Second Hand News," which the band played with the energy of young musicians playing for their first big break. The 65-year-old Buckingham, especially, attacked the guitar with such intensity and enthusiasm, you'd think it was his first time playing in front of a large audience.

Dressed in skin-tight jeans, he stomped in slow-motion across the stage during a hair-raising guitar solo for "I'm So Afraid," as the large screen behind the performers zoomed in on his dexterous fingers plucking away at the guitar strings.

While age has not diminished his agility, it has taken a slight toll on Nicks' voice. "Dreams" took on a different feel to accommodate her on some of the song's higher notes. A couple of backup singers helped out with the harder to reach registers and harmonies. But on her other signature songs, like "Silver Springs" and "Landslide," Nicks' voice was intact and cut through like a sharpened knife.
