I still haven't seen a 16 track cd version of 24KG. I wonder if you can purchase the two tracks separately. I'm a bit surprised a deluxe version of the cd is not going to be available.

Initially I had thought that there would be a 16 track CD version (without the photobook), available through retailers, but so far that isn't the case. The only way of getting the 16 tracks on a CD is to buy the deluxe photobook bundle from Warners. As I want a physical CD and the 16 tracks, this is the one I chose, even though it was more than I wanted to pay. It will be nice to have the book, and hopefully it's worth the extra £20

I guess it's still possible that they may release a 16 track CD version without the photobook, but I don't know how likely that is now?

Yes, I meant a stand alone CD without the other stuff. I just want the music.

I would buy multiple copies but I don't want to pay $40.00 for another photo book and I wish I could get just the deluxe cd to give to family/friends.

I'm sorry, I haven't posted here in a while, but am I correct to assume that the only way to get a physical disc with 16 tracks is through the link posted above? For $60? I mean, what is her and Fleetwood Mac's problem, considering these inflated prices for CDs and concert tickets? Do they still owe money to their coke dealers?

No, you can buy the Deluxe Album with the Photobook (but without the lithograph), for $40:

And if you don't want all the extra bells and whistles justifying the $40 and $60 price tags, you can get the standard CD for under $12 at Amazon.

The 16 track CD standalone is what we are looking for.

Sorry guys. There IS no 16 track "stand alone" disc being offered ANYWHERE at this time. Maybe they'll release one in the near future, but as of right now, the ONLY way you're going to get a 16 track deluxe CD is if you order the photo book. :sorry:

Yup! Or you can order the 14-track cd and download the bonus tracks. Frankly, I'm excited about how easy it is this time around to get the bonus tracks - it took me forever to get my hands on My Heart!

I'm hoping I can get my hands on the MP3's for my iPod. I have had the Demo of Watch Chain ( Watchdevil) for years and love it! I'm curious about Twisted. It may be the same version from the Enchanted box set.

The Japanese edition of 24 Karat Gold will have all 16 tracks. You can preorder it now from CD Japan (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/WPCR-16126). I've ordered from them for years. They are very reliable and ship worldwide. Unfortunately, their description doesn't show the 16 tracks, but my friend in Japan said they will all be there. I preordered the disc and can confirm all 16 tracks when it arrives.

That's good to know, I do have the Japanese edition of Street Angel with the the additional tracks but I know I didn't order it from Amazon. Thanks Dan!

They got hooked like everybody else in the '70s.

Warner Bros probably has a non-compete agreement with other retailers for the 16-track. Once street date hits, other retailers probably will get it.

Warner Bros started doing this with their blu-ray titles. It started several months ago...they pulled all pre-orders from Amazon customers, but they all became available on street date. Of course, you could pre-order direct from Warner Bros. Typical marketing techniques has already taught us to want things before they are available.
Besides, what will they do with all the unsold stock? :p

Yeah. What gives?

I read on another music forum that the practice of adding bonus material to Japanese releases started because of an interesting phenomenon where Japanese buyers concluded that American and European pressings were of higher sound quality, and so they would buy imports instead of domestic releases.

Adding bonus tracks not available on Euro/American releases encouraged Japanese buyers to buy the Japanese release.

What I find interesting about this is that in Europe and the USA, the opposite perception exists, which is that Japanese releases are of higher sound quality, and so much like them, we buy the import.

Human nature. Grass is always greener.

When CDs first came out, the volume level of European and Japanese releases was higher than the American ones (e.g. Mirage). Not sure about the overall quality though.

You're spot on about the bonus tracks. Japanese consumers were buying the American ones because they were identical in content and half the price. The bonus tracks incentivizes them to buy domestically. Most American artists' releases in Japan have at least one bonus track. The irony is that a lot of American fans will only buy the Japanese releases because of the exclusive bonus tracks, even though they are significantly more expensive.

I just put my order in for this bundle. I have to have all 16 tracks. I'm sure the photo book will be cool. It's just after following these folks for so long I have sooo much stuff.

Thanks, BlueLight. I hadn't seen that one. Still a lot of money for a deluxe edition, but I'm very excited about this album.

Nope. You can sign up either by email or through Facebook, which ever you prefer, and then you have unlimited access to any music you could think of (with the addition of some commercials.) It also stores all of your local files, and can play them through Spotify. I love it, it's like iTunes, but you can listen to anything, and make playlists and such. Commercially, it's disastrous for artists, but hey we're the consumers here.

I was misinformed about the Japanese edition of 24 Karat Gold. It's the standard 14-track edition. It's strange because the international editions usually have bonus tracks, so I'm not sure why they chose to issue the same version that everyone else got.

It's still collectible for the "obi" (paper wrapper) and the additional Japanese liner notes and lyrics. But the only way to get all 16 tracks at this point is through the deluxe version.
