At about 2.22.00-ish. Recording now then will edit and upload soon once I've gotten my sister to go back to bed, lol.
And... I've left the intro and outro in from Ken. Hopefully will have the proper iTunes track in a couple of hours.

Thanks! How exciting!! :]:] A good bouncy rocker for the radio :)
I'm quite impressed with the radio publicity so far in the UK. Many artists don't get any exposure on major radio stations.

Awesome. Thanks so much. I really like it. I think this CD is going to be right up there with Bella Donna and The Wild Heart. :)
BTW, how did you find that???? I assume you didn't just happen to listen to the BBC radio station on line and it just came on. Anyway, I'm impressed. :)

I assume the original poster just heard it on the regular radio as they went about their day, seeing as they seem to be from Berkshire. I actually DO often just randomly listen to BBC R1, R2 and 6 Music online but not today. Just searched for the programme once I saw this thread, lol.

This is crazy good!!! Once again, Stevie manages to take one of my least favorite demos and turn it into a great great GREAT SONG!
I love everything about this! Got a huge smile on my face when I heard that she added the "runaway now...down, down baby...told you what to do with your life but you could not save me..." part from demo vocal take 4!!!
The musicianship is superb! I will be listening to this one 1000 times today! :D

Just give it a chance when you can listen to it from ITunes or Amazon and on some good speakers...the sound quality on the BBC feed is terrible..I had some trepidations about this one but I just don't see how the final product could be any better.

I'm not feeling it, either. I love all the snippets and singles we've gotten, but not this one. It's too "choppy" for me (not "smooth", if you know what I mean). But that's the same reason I don't like the demo jams either. And I don't really hear 1970's as some have commented; to me, this is more 1980's sounding, you know, that "choppy", unsmooth 80's sound.

While I agree with this for the most part, I think you have to listen to the whole thing to appreciate it. But I will say the song is great for what it is - a real rock-n-roll song, much like the live "Angel" mentioned above. It's certainly more different than Lady, and even the Dealer, but it got radio airplay, so kudos to the BBC for once lol.

To me this total 1970s roller boogie disco ball rock. It's Angel part 2. It makes me think of early Jodi Foster movies, The Bay City Rollers, Kristi McNichol Little Darling's era.. Throw in Linda Blair and Sygman and the Seamonster.... Happy :)

Stevie Nicks continues to fan anticipation for her upcoming solo studio album 24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault with song previews. The Fleetwood Mac star's latest offering is a reworking of a late 70s Nicks-penned demo called "Starshine"
The two-time Grammy winner posted the video on Sept. 15 at her official Facebook page. The 15-second clip reveals the chorus of the uptempo pop-rocker singing the chorus, "Starshine... Oh you used to be silver/Lovelight, lover's stare. Well you used to make me shiver."
"Starshine" premiered on BBC Radio 2 where Ken Bruce debuted the full track on his show today. Click here and advance the program ahead to the 2:22:14 mark to listen to the song in its entirety. The track will be available to purchase in iTunes on Sept. 15.
Nicks rearranged and re-recorded the demo in the studio and has included it among 14 songs on "24 Karat Gold." The album is primarily an eclectic collection of self-penned songs, which the enduring pop diva recorded over the years, but never released on an album. Co-produced by Nicks along with ex-Eurythmics co-frontman Dave Stewart and longtime Nick's bandmember and session guitarist Waddy Wachtel, the tracks were newly recorded in Nashville and mixed in Los Angeles.
The veteran singer-songwriter previously previewed ten other tracks from the album earlier this month, including "The Dealer," "If You were My Love," "Mabel Normand," "Belle Fleur," "All the Beautiful Worlds," "Lady," "I Don't Care," "Hard Advice" and "Carousel" and "Cathouse Blues." "24 Karat Gold" is available for pre-order and will be released Oct. 7 on the Reprise label. Click here for more information.
The diminutive songstress will hit the road this fall with the reunited Fleetwood Mac classic line-up, which will include the newly rejoined Christine McVie. The tour kicks off the tour in on Sept. 20 in Minneapolis, Minneapolis, at Target Centre and wrap up in on Dec. 14 in Dallas, Texas, at American Airlines Centre. For more information, click here.
Did you know? Stevie Nicks has revealed the over half the songs contained on "24 Karat" are about Fleetwood Mac bandmate and ex-lover Lindsey Buckingham.

I like it, it's good and I'm sure it will grow on me even more as time passes. I have to admit though, I think I am going to miss polished final products like her previous albums. The 24 Karat songs all have a very live feel to them (probably because most of them basically are) and I also like hearing Stevie harmonize with herself and it doesn't seem like we're going to be getting much of that. That doesn't take away from my excitement though!

All the planets of the universe seem to be lining up in Stevie's favor. It's like she has come full circle. Of course not everyone will have that opinion.
Yet it seems this album is getting a lot of buzz and might achieve the acclaim and success similar to Bella Donna. Dave Stewart has his critics, but you can't deny he has been an inspiration to Stevie, and the catalyst to the revitalization of her solo career.

I really agree with you. The tracks I have heard and the build-up all feel so much like the Bella Donna era. And yes, I think Dave Stewart has been a huge part of making this possible. His Nashville connections and quick approach to recording were such a benefit to this project.

Just as a side note, when Stevie sings "we've been together" the first time, she's hitting a high Bb on the "we've"!
She must have been having a really good day in the studio to hit that, she hasn't done it confidently since Bella Donna?
FYI Gold Dust Woman peak is a high A.

Just within the past few years, her vocal range seems to either be improving...or she's getting more confident/willing to take more chances in the studio. 99% of the snippets we've heard reflect that she's singing in the same key as the original demo which is AMAZING ~ Especially "Cathouse Blues"!!! The only thing she's gone lower on has been "Lady". Interestingly enough, she's singing in a higher key on "Mabel" than her original demo for it.

I've always wondered if the biggest factor in Stevie's "limited" range is the fact that it seems that she likes to sit down while recording in the studio and rehearsing. It's well known amongst professional musicians that you have to stand to sing properly, in order to get full use from your diaphragm. To this day I wonder what "Destiny Rules" would sound like had she simply stood up for the final take. Maybe she did, but from the documentary it doesn't look like it.
There's no doubt - she doesn't have the range she used to, but I think certain environmental factors such as sitting during recording / rehearsing have enabled her to settle into a comfort zone a little prematurely.

A great observation-and probably at least partially if not wholly correct. I love The Ledge for all the insight and opinions everyone brings to the table. I haven't posted much lately because honestly I'm underwhelmed by all that is 24 Karat gold so far BUT sometimes when I come here and see the enthusiasm it brings back some of mine. I've been at this a LONG time so it's hard to maintain my early level of enthusiasm. But Stevie feels like family now, i.e. you don't always love what they do but you always love them! Thanks everyone! Ricoh

Watching the Destiny Rules documentary, I cannot for the life of me pick up on why Stevie purports to being so miserable during the making of Say You Will. She wasn't manic & giddy the way she was during the In Your Dreams documentary, but she seemed to be having a positive experience nonetheless.

Oh and I am really digging the Official LYRIC Videos for these three songs so far. It reminds me of the days listening to a song and following along with the lyric sheet from the album. Fast forward to now and the added imagery of moving video makes going along to a song with the lyrics so much more fun.

Her IYD documentary shows her standing quite a bit. She may sit more doing the backing harmonies and such? Seems like she does a mix of sitting and standing. She was sitting when she recorded GDW. She references that famous pic of her sitting on top of an amp case or something with her tissues and Vicks inhaler. So sitting while recording certainly is not new for her.

Can someone please educate me on the NEW way of releasing singles for a new record. In the old days, the first single was released about 8 weeks ahead of the new album's release. Then, you would get a NEW single released off the record every few months up to 4 or 5 singles.
For "24 Karat Gold" we've already had 3 singles released with official covers ("Dealer", "Lady" and "Starshine") and the new album isn't even out yet. I'm assuming "singles are not promoted the way they used to be. Do we really need 3 singles being released at one time?

Come on, it's not a commercial product. Just a service to us as fans or occasional listeners to read the words as well.
English is not my native tongue and I misheard lyrics many times. Especially with Stevie's nasal voice.
I used to read the lyric-sheets from the albumcover or booklets with the songs, now it's in sync projected on my screen. It's about the words, not about the design.

I'm going to pull a Lindsey here (Yes, I know I wouldn't say this to Bob Dylan). I love the song and am really happy with what I've heard from the CD, so far but I have to say that when she switches persons here (He said, I said, He said, She said) it makes it seem like there are 3 people in the conversation of the song, thought I don't think that's what she actually means.
He said, " This is the price that we would finally pay"
I said, "I don't believe you, I need you, I need you to stay"
She said, "We've been together for so long"
So is this about a love triangle? I don't get that from the song. In this instance, a little editing, or a gentle nudge from someone not named Lindsey, might have really helped.
Anyway, I love the song and agree that it will sound great live. :)

I've actually been wondering the same thing. It certainly makes sense if we examine the lyrics a bit closer. The song is about trying to convince someone to stay, and being caught in the losing end of a love situation. I think the song really is about Stevie being in a love triangle- either she's been cheated on, or she's trying to lure away someone from their own relationship.

Yeah, definitely. And it has to be marketed differently because Stevie's is going to be on tour with FM. So she won't be able to do her usual press run. It's smart to have different versions of the album for sale, like the bundle. I can see this being on many fans' December gift lists. Another good idea would be to reissue the album in the spring with extra tracks to give the release a second life.

Just speculating. My guess is a summer solo tour. I think 24 Karat Gold is going to exceed sales expectations, along the lines of Enchanted.
'24 Karat Gold' is currently at #50 on the US Amazon albums chart which isn't bad but I'd expect it to be a little bit higher than that by now. It has reached as high as #25 which was when it became available for pre-order.
I really think that her appearance on 'The Voice' will have a colossal impact on sales and also if Stevie was wise she should mention it on the 'Today Show' which is only a couple of days before the release of the album.
It's difficult to compare '24 Karat' to 'Enchanted' as it was a 4cd set and was expensive at the time. It was also nearly 16 years ago and as we know, the music business has changed.
However, I think Stevie is as popular now as she was in the 80's. AHS gained her a lot of younger fans and 'The Voice' will further increase the younger fan base. The last time Stevie was very popular was in 2001 with 'Trouble in Shangri-La'. To go from the commercial disaster of 1994's 'Street Angel' to a top 5 placing and sell over 100,000 copies in a week only went to show how popular she was as a solo artist. This was don't forget 4 years after 'The Dance' so the albums' popularity wasn't just because of that.
I really hope '24 Karat Gold' does well for Stevie's sake and just because I wish her well! :D

I never quite understood many people's critiques of Stevie's vocals on SYW - I always enjoyed her contributions to the album, particularly RTTG.
But after hearing the three complete songs we have so far from 24KG, together with the low-quality Instagram snippets, I finally understand what these people were talking about. Stevie is bringing a degree of intensity, passion, and energy to these songs that we haven't heard in a really long time. And all of the nuances of her voice that make it so special are shining through so spectacularly well - the stripped down production style is really working for her. Only two more weeks to go! (at least for us vinyl listeners!) :p

Well it went gold within a month, which is very impressive for it's time. After about a month it slowed, and somewhere north of 600,000 sales it really slowed down a lot. Still roughly 3 times as many copies as SA so it was a big uptick.

I've known the song starshine for 10 years and never had it stuck in my head past 5 minutes after hearing it. Somehow it sounds like a fresh new song. The dealer sounds like current stevie doing a cover of old stevie, where as starshine sounds like a fresh new song if that makes any sense.

I've adopted this theory as well. I can make more sense of the song if this is what it's about.
I should just shut up with all these people agreeing with me
But then I thought, crap, she's had so many affairs with married/attached men it could be anyone! I thought afterwards about the recording engineer she dated during was it Rumours? who was engaged and his engagement ended due to Stevie's affair with him…. But in any case it would just be changing the names but the story would be the same
he said: engineer guy
I said: stevie
she said: his fiancee
We could have a contest of plugging in all the possible names for this basic storyline (Stevie playing with fire):D

She said - woman Stevie was with

Several fans have been reminding David about Stevie's new songs and he's finally mentioned "Starshine"...No mention of him writing something for 24K or if he's interviewed her yet...

Wouldn't it be great (in a parallel universe) if on Jeopardy if a contestant got a question wrong that instead of the double beep they'd play Stevie saying "WRONG!" just like in this song?
