View Full Version : Conflicted about All The Beautiful Worlds

I'm thrilled about Stevie's new album, loving that we are getting official, fully fleshed out versions of demo songs; some that have laid dormant in various states of development and production. Yet a few songs were not just demos, but songs finished and prepped for release. Of those few, All The Beautiful Worlds stands out of the pack. It's so perfect as it is, with Sharon and Lori's background vocals and Stevie's rich, nuanced vocal range. It should have never been cut from Wild Heart -- at the very least it could have been a b-side, or featured on TimeSpace or Enchanted.
Though I'll enjoy her current version, I almost wish she didn't choose redo it, only because I can't imagine it getting any better. I'm not in company with those who want her raw /work-in- progress demos released; it makes no sense -- they already are unofficially available. But I would welcome a 24 Karat Gold Volume 2, since are still many songs worthy of re-visitation and restoration. But the original All The Beautiful Worlds resides in a different world.

I can totally see, where you coming from. All The Beautiful Worlds is close to perfection just the way it is and I agree, it belongs on The Wild Heart. Usually I prefer older Stevies voice, but in this case I'm not sure. Maybe she should'nt have touched the song. For me, the old version lives from this very special "Wild Heart-vibe", that certain something that was in her voice during this time (and never before and never again).
No matter how good she'll be singing on the new version, it won't be like that.
Maybe they should have changed the song drastically, make it something really different, that might work. But the snippet doesn't sound like they did. We'll see, maybe I'm wrong and it's gonne be great.

The original version should be featured as one of the bonus tracks on the reissue of Wild Heart ( assuming her early solo albums will be rehabbed and expanded someday). All is not lost!
However, I'm sure I will appreciate the new version as well.

It is Lori not Laurie.

Thanks Dannygal! I'll make that correction. I do strive to be as accurate as possible; sometimes I have brain farts. I sincerely appreciate your proofreading alert.

You're going to get yourself drummed out of the Stevie Nicks Fan-Club for that typo! ;)
Regarding "All The Beautiful Worlds" -- it's one of my favorite outtakes, and I too have always felt that it should have had a place on 'The Wild Heart.' However, Stevie's seasoned voice sounds so terrific in the 15-second snippet, that I just may end up loving the '24 Karat Gold' version even better. Stevie really does have a knack for releasing "no wine before its time." (*That's an old Paul Masson Winery reference, for you young'uns out there.)

Now I'm picturing Orson Welles voice..."We will sell no wine, before its time" Uh oh, guess I'm not a young'un either.

Since it was cut from the album, it could have been a b-side. If my memory serves me right, the only non-album b-side was Garbo. I wonder who ultimately makes those kind of decisions.

This is what I wish for as well.

Pigeon Hoard,
I'm glad you didn't get offended. And please, by all means, feel free to correct me, I know you're the grammar police.

 I really don't want to be the grammar police (I'm not perfect). But I hold a strong belief that if you have something worth expressing to others, present it with some level of integrity. My motto is: Don't be lazy; communicate your thoughts coherently and accurately to the best of your ability. It doesn't take much effort to use basic punctuation: commas, periods and apostrophes, as well as lower case and upper case letters. It really hurts seeing an I reduced to an i.
