Hmmm…well, my first impression is…LOVE the music! LOVE her vocal! It’s the lyrics that I’m not sure about. But, yet again, here we have only 10 seconds to go by. Like everything else, reserving judgment for the first listen of the FULL ALBUM!

If Stevie had released this back when she originally wrote it, she would have rendered that Backstreet Boys song redundant by 10 or 12 years. ;)

I guess we can safely say that this isn't a "re-titled" old demo that we've heard previously.
UNLESS...both the old and new "snippits" are just added words to an old demo, a la "Moonlight".

The clip I've been waiting on! Stevie is singing as if she's kicking and screaming. Love the attitude...it reminds me of the way she sang on Smile At You..the angry version. Can't wait to hear the whole thing! This just made my Friday so much better!!!

"ELY" was my 2nd fav song on IYD. And I HATED the first snippit of it. We can only hope this will be the same. Not that I'm disappointed with it, but the lyrics just seem so...I don't know...done a million times before?

This is my least favourite clip so far - just personal taste on the style of song though. The song sounds good and the vocals are excellent. It will probably be one of those that grows on me when I can listen to the whole thing. I'm glad it's a change in music style from the other clips, variety on an album is so important to keep it interesting. Stevie's always liked her rockers so it's good to see one here :)

Yikes! The people on Facebook are being so cruel. All this hate for a 15-second clip.
I will say this clip isn't my favorite of the bunch released so far, but it's not bad. It sounds like a slow-burning blues/rock track that (based on Dave's earlier clip) picks up momentum as it goes along. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing the entire (6-minute-long!) version.
It's funny how people just cling so desperately to the young version of Stevie and have a hard time accepting that she's a 66-year-old woman who's voice has changed, who's look has evolved, yet who's passion and commitment to music and her fans is as strong as ever. I'm glad Stevie doesn't check her Facebook page, especially today!

I like it a lot. I also love that it is clearly going to build from a slow rocker to an all-out head banger.
So far, my ranking of the snippets (not including the two full songs we have):
01. Belle Fleur
02. Mabel Normand
03. I Don't Care
04. If You Were My Love
05. All The Beautiful Worlds
What I think is going to be so great about this album is that the songs sound so diverse that everybody's favorites are likely going to be dramatically different. I can see why people would dislike "I Don't Care" if they are fans of the 'airy-fairy' Stevie but I remember many comments from people wishing there was more rock on In Your Dreams and this is definitely ROCK. Luckily, I like both!

It's that kind of illiterate hilarity that keeps me from being too upset at the exceptionally rude commentary. I wish she or her team would go on Facebook and tell some of these people to go f@c& off. :sorry:

02. Mabel Normand
03. I Don't Care

Mine would be:
1. All The Beautiful Worlds
2. Mabel Normand
3. Belle Fleur
4. If You Were My Love
5. I Don't Care
But I've liked everything, including "The Dealer" and "Lady".

I'm with the people who like the vocals and sound of the song but feel that the lyrics are a bit pedestrian .I noticed that this song is so far the longest on the album that has a time posted .So just hoping it isn't nearly 6 minutes of "I Don't Care" repeated interminably.

Tell me if anyone had the same experience upon listening to this clip for the first time...
She sings the first two lines...
"I don't care where you go
I don't care what you do..."
(I start bobbing my head and groovin' out to the music and the rhythm)
She sings the next line...
"I don't care what you said..."
(still bobbing the head and groovin' and waiting for a good line and word that rhymes with "do")
and then she sings...
"I just care that you love me!!!"
HUH? (double take) Well...THAT was a bit unexpected.
Anyone else put off by this, just a little bit? Like I said before, it's only 15 seconds of a sample, and I'm sure there is a hell of a lot more going on in this song (as evidenced by Dave Stewart's FIRST video snippit many months ago) but I just found it odd that they decided to post this portion of the song.

It's hard to tell what anything will sound like with only a 10 second snippet. However, I must say that I'm unimpressed by "I Don't Care" thus far. This is the first track what I'm not really excited about.

Why is it
I'm the one
Who is always cleaning up your mess
I Don't Care
Where you hide
I Don't Care
Where you go
I Don't Care
What you do
I Don't Care
What you said
I just care that you love me
Your in trouble again
For the wrong things
I didn't know her
I didn't know you
There she goes again
Ooh, she says
"Do you think that this could be one?"
Cause' I don't really care unless you love me
I just care of the hard work I've owed you anywhere
What would my life be without you in it
(Each others broken, lost outside of this)
I Don't Care!
You don't even have to believe
Just open your eyes and baby you'll see
I Don't Care!
I Don't Care!
I Don't Care
I Don't Care
Where you go
I Don't Care
What you say
I Don't Care
What you do
I Don't Care
What you want
I just care that you love me
And don't tell me anything else
Just tell me that you need me
Baby!
I just care of the hard work I've owed you anywhere
What would my life be without you in it
(Each others broken, lost outside of this)
I Don't Care!
You don't even have to believe
Just remember what you said to me
Long ago, baby
And don't tell me anything else
Just tell me that you need me
And anything else...
I Don't Care.......

I kind of took this to be a nicer Stevie way of saying "I don't care as long as you f*** me"
I don't care what else you're doing in your life, this isn't about that; I just care that the sex with you is amazing and as long as you're doing me, that's the only bit of your life I care about.
It's Mama gettin' her dirty on. Love it.

I can't say I'm that surprised by this. Stevie's songwriting technique knows no bounds. She changes tenses often (as Lindsey tried to point out in the Destiny Rules DVD), she rhymes him with him and me with me...not exactly the best songwriting skills. And sometimes her "he says" and "she says" constantly can grate my nerves. All in all though, we know she can write some killer tunes!

It seems like it's misquoted. I'll bet that's not the correct lyric.
Agreed. In my earlier post I put what I *think* the lyric is on Dave's clip. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Don't mean to change the subject but after hearing the old watchain demo, I think this song could be epic.

I did not think it would be possible for stevie to keep knocking on doors as is. I thought there's no way she could any of the songs we know from the 70's that relied so heavily just on her soft voice. But I'm shocked. This is better then her vocal on knocking on doors. Think this might be my favorite ballad of hers other then storms crystal and beautiful child. Those 3 are untouchable. But I may like it more then any of her solo ballads.
And I disagree that Lady isn't an appropriate title. I feel she repeats the "lady you don't have to see" line as much if not more then "I'm tired of knocking on doors" and she definitely sings that line the most passionately.

I'm really excited to hear what they have done with Watch Chain.

I also prefer the vocals on the new Lady. I really love the old demo, but I'm so impressed with this new version.
I'd also agree with you about the title of Lady. It's just as good as Knocking on Doors, and it looks great on the single cover :)

Me too. I'm having a terrible time not referring to it as Watch Devil, though.

Reading the comments, I'm still floored at how much people hate this song has received on Facebook. Most of the hate revolves around the lyrics too, which doesn't bode well for awards.

That amount of hate for a 10 second clip is just stupid. I'm glad I don't use facebook - uughh
Have they forgotten about the clip Dave posted? I don't remember people hating that. I think it sounds great.
Well this is different from the clip Dave posted..."I Don't care" (https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152091604747133&set=vb.12134457132&type=3&theater)
Judging by the clips it is a rocking song indeed...
