View Full Version : Pre-Order Frustration with Warner Brothers

All I wanted to do is purchase the vinyl album of 24 Karat Gold, along with the Deluxe bundle. Simple enough, right?

After several attempts, and several cancellation emails, I tried to order it on Amazon, which appears to just route it to Warner Brothers. Thus, I just received another cancellation notice. What the fu*k is going on?

At this point, I have no idea if I'm going to receive anything! I've never experienced this level of ineptness before. Of course, Warner Brothers, or Wiener Brothers, as I now refer to them, doesn't provide phone customer service. I just sent them an email, but have no confidence that I'll get any help from them. This really sucks! Not to mention it's no help to the marketing effort to sell her album.

Warner will re-authorize your payment ever week or so until it ships. If at *any time* the funds are not available, they will cancel the order. This has happened to some other people, so it's just a thought.

Music Direct has the vinyl, too.

This is so annoying. I don't see why they don't just process the payment now.

The answer is simple - make sure you have the money in the bank.

Or use PayPal, where you will know FOR SURE that the money has been transferred just the one and only time.

I tried to purchase all of the deluxe bs the first day and was unable to do so and blocked and whatever. Then it dawned on me that I fell in love with a voice. I pre-purchased from iTunes and I live in peace knowing that I will hear the voice I love and the rest of my money is in my bank account.

Money is not an issue for me; my bank account is healthy! I'm just worried; I want confirmation that I'm going to receive what I ordered. I hope to get a response to my email. Otherwise I will hound them as much as I can. This bull**** is just unacceptable. I never had to deal with a re-authorization process.

They keep debiting and crediting my checking account and it's really annoying. Just take the money out. Hard to keep track of your balance when you have to remember to keep over 70 bucks in there. Yeah, I'm a down to a dollar kind of bank person.

As Karma said, its their asinine pre-authorization process. I just got mine settled because they canceled mine two days before my pay day. The money was there when I placed the order, an unexpected bill popped up so the balance on my checking account went down, they popped another preauthorization a few days later and bam cancellation of order email. I have the bundle with the limited number of lithographs so I was ticked! But luckily come pay day I put the almost 80 dollars into my second checking account so it wouldn't get touched and they could do their pre-authorization every week until it ships. Problem solved. But its such an inconvenience to us the consumer. I understand your frustration trust me.

I'm still confused. What do I have to do assure my order is going through? Just wait? As I said, I have plenty of money in my checking account.

my bank is VERY on the ball with my transactions
but i shop so much online that they don't worry about me too much anymore

i would second the paypal option. but i don't remember having that option when checking out at WB. you can link your credit or savings account or just regularly keep $$ in the paypal account and you'd have no probs

you will get your order. think positive please. :xoxo:

I want to stay positive, but I have no reason to do so. I just made several attempts to message them through their customer service email, and all attempts failed. It's so ****ing ridiculous. I've been so frustrated, stressed and never had to work so hard to make an online purchase. This is so wrong! I feel like a helpless ****ing idiot! Thanks a lot Warner Douche Bag Brothers. It's been so great to be unable to do business or communicate with you.

I can understand the frustration BS with WBM .Atlease they should let the costumers know whats going on with their orders.

I worked at a couple of fulfillment centers over the years that done fulfillment work for big name companies and there were alot of screw ups on orders with office typo errors.I would not put it past WBM with those problems.

They waited to last minute to strike my CC the day they shipped my IYD DVD package.
My CC want through the process fine the day I ordered the IYD DVD and 24K Gold album.

I check my transactions last week as I payed up my CC bill and there was no charges of the $105 and change for Stevie's new 24K Gold album which was purchased before my CC closing date.

I dont understand their way of conducting sales there.Nevermind holding on to my CC numbers for that length of time .

I rather go back the old way like when the music arrives at the record shop instead of this internet and mail order routine.

Are you sure? It really has nothing to do with the bank. WB sends a pre auth to your bank which then stays on your account for a few days, but then drops off since WB doesn't finish the transaction. Then WB submits another pre auth the next week.

In all the transactions of commerce that I have ever made on the internet, I've used my debit card. If bank account did not have the funds,of course I would expect the order to be cancelled. That is reasonable. I have never had that issue, in the all the years I've made purchases online. If the money isn't there, the order would just be cancelled.

What is not reasonable is Warner Brothers' policy assuming customers don't have the funds, thus, instituting this ****ing abhorrent policy of pre-authorizing and immediately cancelling orders. WHF???

So if authorization takes place in some arbitrary way, am I going to now receive three orders because I made three attempts? What drives my blood pressure up is that I have no number to call, no human representative to consult. Warner Brothers is a an evil entity. They are my battle of the dragon. They suck! I will never deal with them again. I rather go through a third party. I think I need a heavy dose of Klonopin now.

I dont like their format of doing eCommerce .There should be rules and guidelines written for these companies.I think there is rules in each state with mail order and internet sales they supposed too comply by .Maybe somebody can chime in and fill us in on it. Speaking of building up my blood pressure I remember years ago that Ticketmaster was giving me BS and almost lost the shows.Nevermind loosing tickets too.I do have to give them credit on instant refunds if the shows is cancelled.

That why I like the old way of going to the record shop or Walmart and purchasing the music in person .I was never of a fan dealing with money online but these days is way of things.

I'm debating now if I should order another vinyl or wait and see if Best Buy have it in stock in October.I cant recall if Best Buy stocks vinyl in their stores.I know Best Buy will have a truck load of her CD's there. They had loads of her IYD DVD's after it was released.

I hope you get to the bottom of this crap.

Many companies don't bill for preorders until they send merchandise, including Amazon. I've been frustrated with this, too, especially because I used my new laptop (which isn't hooked up to my printer yet) so couldn't print my order. After sending three messages to WB, I didn't get resolution so kept after them until they helped me access my account--which shows the pre-order. (I was at wit's end with all of this until they finally helped me get my password reissued so I could do this).

After my experience, my guess is that college interns may be assigned to handle these accounts (or they're outsourced off-shore). They don't seem to read the messages very carefully--and only respond to parts of them. I kept sending messages until I got the information I needed from them (and then discovered part of what they told me was wrong!!).

My lesson: keep sending messages until they answer your questions and keep checking your WB account to ensure that your order is still there. I'm planning to check mine once a week until it's sent.

Hope that helps!

I used too work at fulfillment houses which one was did work for Amazon. They hire cheap temp help to process orders and even do the office work. Some workers are great and some have no brains and screw up peoples orders.

Yes I agree .Keep on their rear until they ship it out.

I'm a little paranoid about this now because I've decided to move, and my lease is up prior to shipping. So now I have to change my shipping address long after the order has been placed, and if they use my billing address each time they authorize card, I will need to change that too (which I will probably wait on until this order ships, just to avoid issues).

Interesting. The Supreme court is about to hear a lawsuit about Amazon workers suing for overtime, for the time they spent waiting in security checks before they could begin working in the warehouse.

Really sad to hear that about Amazon. I try to shop at brick and mortar stores as much as possible (mostly to preserve jobs in local communities) so use Amazon when necessary. Unfortunately, it's becoming harder to find many items in stores so we end up buying from them. It's disturbing to hear that they treat employees this way; hope the Court finds in employees' favor.

Hoursandhours: If you're moving, you probably have time to change your address through credit card company and WB before the SN releases are out. At least it looks fairly easy to update the profile on their website. It might be a good idea to have an electronic "paper trail" with emails through their customer service staff (whoever it is).

Does anyone know how they ship (is it USPS, UPS, or FedEx)? If it's USPS, it might be possible to put your mail on vacation hold (if the release dates are during the same timeframe).

Wow--who knew it would be so complicated just to order an album or CD???

Wow.I hope they will get payed. They were there on time on the property .The places I've worked at were private .One was a vender and fulfilled orders for Amazon and Target online and a couple other top name stores. the other did fulfillment for PCH Publishers Clearing House .PCH had their day in court over with they done to their customers .Its nothing new with big corporate playing games with their customers and their employees.

Walmart is another whole topic.

Yes . To come think about it .The company I worked at that did the PCH fulfillment had security at the doors .Some days it took some time getting into the building. Also as I remember that we shipped out WB CD's and VHS movies to PCH customers.

Yes .What the heck. What are they thinking .Its like taking out a property mortgage or a car loan to buy some music or videos.

So far I haven't heard any news on my order. If it falls through .I will just go to Best Buy or Walmart to purchase the album.I will just loose out on the litho stuff.Walmart wont have the vinyl but they should have her CD there. Most of the small ma pa record shops are gone here because the big box stores killed them off years ago .So that leaves out special ordering albums and other stuff like I used to do years ago.

Maybe they should use something like PayPal and let PayPal or equiv worry about the credit card stuff.

Welcome to the cancel club!

I gave up. It was stressful and a waste of time. For years I've purchased lots of music/product on various internet sites using either my debit or credit card. I have never had any issues. Credit cards never require authorization; it's credit damn it! If you have a number to call, please share that with me, because it's conspicuously absent on their site. When I called 411, they could not find a customer service number. I reordered three times. No luck, same result.

Of three emails I wrote to them, only one was answered with the same bull**** and the issue was never solved. How the hell can they conduct business this way? I'm hoping I can purchase the deluxe version at my local record store. But I really want the bundled box with extra photos, as well as the vinyl record. I might have to buy them through another source, but that may mean paying more for them.

Warner Brothers store is a ****ing insulting joke. I pre-authorize that statement and cancel all future involvment with them. Stevie should find another label -- one that will not **** with her people.

I'm sorry to hear about the terrible service you have received from the Warner Bros. store. Based on these comments, I'm wondering what is in store for me. I ordered $105 worth of 24K Gold merchandise (vinyl and deluxe CD/litho bundles) on the first day of pre-orders. I didn't receive a confirmation of this order so had to email their customer service. I received a prompt reply with the confirmation. Thus far I am not yet in the "cancel club" but could be joining you all real soon.

If you want to order use pay-pal...It will be immediately charged to your account and the funds withdrawn...I have used this method with both the "IYD" DVD bundle and the "24K" bundle with no problems...

NurseDJackson

Longtime lurker here, never posted before but am going to about this issue. I just had my 24K order canceled due to lack of authorization. I bought it a month ago...I wrote them two emails. Afterwards I saw the little disclaimer, "your credit card will be authorized for the full amount once you confirm your order, but it will not be charged until your order ships. Some customers may see two listings on their bank statement, but the first is only an authorization, not a deduction."

This disclaimer does not actually address what they do. I used credit and no reasonable person would think they'd need to treat their credit card as if a bank account. In other words, spend two months calculating whatever amount ON THEIR CREDIT CARD.

I know I will likely have difficulty hearing back from them. What I am proposing is that we start to think about how to handle this issue publically. If I don't get fair responses within a week I am going to post my situation directly on Dave Stewart's and Stevie Nicks' social media pages (after all, this whole package buying is about upping her numbers and they aren't letting us up her numbers!) I would go so far as to call what WB is doing is illegal. I did not consent for the authorization to be repeated for two months. It's definitely fraudulent, as such a method of re-authorizing payments would allow them to tweak their production and output based on these weekly (I think folks have written above that they are weekly) checks. More importantly this practice is not directly addressed by their disclaimer.

If any of the lawyers I know were into this kind of law I'd float a class-action lawsuit idea. Sure, many of us haven't lost anything, but this practice should not be allowed. AT ALL. At the very least I think everyone to whom this happened, especially those using a credit card (because the disclaimer would indicate debit card users would need to calculate like a check's pending) should publically air the issue on the appropriate people's social media. Hashtag Liz Rosenberg if you have to...

Many of us have given THOUSANDS of dollars to this corporation over the years and this is not acceptable. I don't want to give them my money now and I am annoyed at Stevie Nicks the product/corporation. So this is just bad PR.

Does this have more to do with individual banks and credit card companies than it does with Warner Brothers? I pre-ordered on day one, and it has been listed as a pending charge ever since. I'm sorry to hear about people's frustrations, but I wonder why none of these issues have happened to me.

NurseDJackson

I've wondered that, too. Someone above says otherwise but it is a good point to consider. My confirmation lasted a month until I guess I didn't have enough on my credit card to cover it during this pass at authorization. Ultimately WB is responsible for making that clear. The one sentence disclaimer AFTER one believes they've made a purchase does not cut it.

That's what I think the actual problem is, not whether we as consumers are doing our part by doing math weekly in anticipation of a convoluted corporate practice. I respectfully submit that we do not accept a policy that is not explained properly in advance and appears to violate privacy.

I also know this is "boxing at god"/"tilting at windmills" because I can remember reading about problems with WB and their merchandise all the way back over a decade ago when that one woman had a demos site and appeared to go bonkers at one point and disappear. I remember at the end she was ranting constantly about some horrible thing WB did with a Fleetwood Mac package...and I've seen it on this site over the 5 or so years of lurking.

Regardless, I know some of you have spent a lot of time and money over the years supporting FM and Nicks, more than I have, and it is plain unacceptable.

Well, I got mine sorted out. I had placed an order for vinyl on my debit card, which I've been carefully keeping track of the funds. It hasn't been close to any cause for concern, but I totally understand that that's not the case for everyone. That purchase has remained authorized so far.

I bought the cd combo using my mom's major credit card (it's a Christmas gift and she said it was easier if I just did the legwork myself haha). That one was canceled the other day, and I was totally perplexed as to how. Turns out the company sent my mom a new card with a new expiration date and verification number, which explains why the order canceled - that card was no longer valid. I just replaced the order using the new information, so hopefully all is well.

But, I agree. This seems unethical and ridiculous, and it's a shame that this is happening to so many people.

Thank you for your post. My debit card, connected to my bank account, has plenty of money in it. I use it all the time to buy music on Amazon and other sites. In an unlikely event that the account became insolvent, my bank would cancel the transaction. Even when I used a credit card, which lends me the money to make a purchase (I'm responsible to pay them, not the seller) the order was still canceled! I don't understand this mentality of "be sure you have the money in the bank." That isn't the issue!!

I was thinking the other day that Stevie and FM breakup the long lifetime relationship with WB and go to a indy label .A indy label would love to have them as a client .

They probably wont get the big coverage and distribution like they get from a big conglomerate like WB.

So far I have not get any news on my order.

With the BS .How they will sell any on their website.

I think they should get out of doing the pre order routine.

Well, after straightening out last week's panic, they've now cancelled my other order under my info. This is absolute bullsh*t. I have more than enough money in my bank account, even after going in and seeing THREE pending charges for ONE album. I emailed them because I'm a little hesitant to order again after seeing this on my card. So ridiculous. I cannot wait for this to finally be released so this mess can be over.

This practice of Warner's is not ethical. I fought with them over email for a week and got responses every time because I threatened to take my concerns to social media and because I used specific terminology--consent, reasonable, unethical, etc.

They seem to think what they are doing is okay. The language in their FAQ does not address the problem at hand nor does the disclaimer that appears after you "pre-order"...and to read what they are doing to some of you makes me even angrier. I spoke to Chase, with whom I have my credit card, and they confirmed that they do not have regulations about the practice of multiple authorizations that WB claims they have (I was told that it was "banks" and then told it was "part of the visa/mastercard agreement"...I called them on lying to me and they send me a statement from the FAQ about this pre-authorization). The man at Chase customer service seemed confused that WB could or would do anything more than what he said clubs and gas stations do--pre-authorize. The weekly authorizations were shocking to him.

I never once had a charge, even an authorization, appear on my credit card. For those of you with multiple appearances and cancellations, accuse them of stealing your money, tell them you did not consent to multiple authorizations, demand they stop this practice. If they cannot find a way to charge people/hold money until shipment then they need to stop doing pre-orders months in advance. Like others on this thread I have enough money on my credit card. Perhaps the day ("the 8th day" they claim, once the standard one-week for authorizations ends) they ran my card last week, payment was in transit, but I had and do now have money on my credit card. The rep at WB told me that they attempt to authorize multiple times before canceling an order. WHY IS WARNER BROS UP IN MY CREDIT CARD SO MANY TIMES?

I am continuing my fight with Warner Bros. this week. If enough people (and I told them that fans were discussing this on message boards and that we feel as though we can't even help Nicks with her first week charting) complain to them perhaps they will come up with a suitable method for collecting money with these expensive pre-order arrangements.

Warner Bros. engages in this practice because it is beneficial in some way to them. They would not be doing it if it didn't save them money or boost their bottom line. It's by no means about following some law about charging only when order ships. And there is NO EXCUSE for going into ANYONE'S credit card weekly (for up to two months) to guarantee payment.

Some of you have spent way too much money to have hundreds of dollars being ****ed with on your credit cards! I hate these people. Stevie Nicks really should get a clue about what this company she hoofs it so hard for is really doing with all our money.

I've been following this saga for several weeks both here and on Facebook, and I have to say I really don't understand what is going on.

I pre-ordered same as everyone else, use my checking account debit card to place the order. The pending charge has sat on my account every single day since I pre-ordered (I check my accounts online almost obsessively because all of my bills are paid via online banking AND because I keep expecting my order to be cancelled). My account balance has never dipped below the amount required for the order. My order has not been cancelled, and there have not been multiple authorizations.

Because I and many others have not had any problems with the pre-order being cancelled, or multiple authorizations, I can't help but wonder if your banks are playing a role in this that they are not being forthright or honest about?

Well my situation is a bit different and I briefly described my dilemma before.

My fiance and I have two checking accounts, but we really only use the one. So we ordered the day we could and I read the little pre-authorization deal. They put a pending charge on my checking account but then it disappeared. Well a week and a half passed and we spent our money as we had to. A surprise bill came up and the 73 and some change got dipped into. A week later I get an email saying "We canceled your order". No trying to get a hold of me before that either via email or phone.

I was livid! I was able to reorder it though and this time around we put the full price of the order in our second checking account. Every week like clock work the pre-authorization is put on and is given back. Just so stupid that they make NO effort to contact before just canceling your order, or not just taking the money when you place the order like it makes sense to do.

Amazon when my payment declines for any reason, gives me the opportunity to use an alternative payment and makes several attempts to resolve it before they cancel my order. WB is just shady as hell. If it was not for Stevie I would not have any dealings with them.

Can someone tell me where on Facebook this conversation has been happening? I'd like to see it.

And because it seems that a few people (some of whom seem to have been sucessful in placing an order, with both debit and credit cards) keep suggesting the banks/credit card companies, I am going to paste what Warner Bros. told me during our back and forth:

"In processing your order, we attempted to confirm funds from your credit card, but the request was declined and your order was cancelled.
Please note that at the time of purchase we authorize your credit card to verify funds are available, and for preorders, some banks require the authorization to occur every 7 days. These are NOT charges, and the authorization is removed from the account quickly. However if the authorization attempt comes back declined more than once, the order is cancelled. If you are interested in re-ordering with a different payment method, please go directly to the store." [emphasis mine]

and then...
"We cannot charge your account until the actual merchandise ships. That is part of the Visa and Mastercard agreement. Therefore, in order to keep your order active, we need to have a valid authorization. An authorization is only good for 7 days at most banks. That is why we need to reauthorize on the 8th day. We first reverse the existing auth before reauthing."

If the above were explained to me at any point while buying (excuse me, "pre-ordering") I would NOT have done this. Even when they sent me the info from the disclaimer in the FAQs it says nothing about multiple authorizations being authorized and reversed.

Maybe that will help it make sense to some as to what's happened with so many of us. It's still not an acceptable policy. Like I've said before no corporation would have this policy unless they benefit from it in some way. They are not bound by law to do this complicated and convoluted practice. Corporations always act like the party with the power in the situation and it seems plenty of people have agreed with them. Sorry, that's not how it works when there is an exchange of goods/services with me.

As mentioned above by me, by others, and by Warner Bros, some banks do not allow an authorization to sit on a credit card for longer than 5-7 business days. This is what causes the original authorization to to be removed and re-authorized repeatedly, every week, until the product ships. Do some of you want to tell us with whom you have your credit card or who your bank is? I use Chase. I wonder what would have happened had I used my AMEX. There is nothing useful about adding 2 cents around "well it must be the banks because it didn't happen to me"...it's the same answer Warner's gave and it implies that all of these people who are experiencing problems are somehow to blame or should have known better. How many people this happened to have never had a problem shopping online otherwise? I've been buying online, with debit/credit/pre-paid for over a decade and this is the only time I've ever had an issue...

BESIDES, the "different banks have different rules" excuse/answer doesn't take away the fact that some people have had confusing, difficult, and possibly even fraudulent charges on their cards from this (or haven't even gotten confirmation of "pre-order" after days and days). It doesn't take away the fact that Warner's doesn't make this practice explicit to potential customers (if not all banks/cards have the same policy they need to write "please check with your bank for their authorization policy as we do not charge your card and might need to re-authorize every 5-7 days", for example). It doesn't take away the fact that this problem has happened to people who used credit cards and to people who've used debit cards....WB is responsible for prudent practices that don't involve sending weekly authorizations to a credit card THAT THEY DO NOT TELL YOU ABOUT.

So forgive me if I don't really care that it's not been how it has happened for some of you. Good on you guys. Congratulations that there were no problems with credit card payments and authorizations crossing over each other. Congratulations that your bank/credit card has a different policy than Chase or whichever other ones this happens to. Clearly this hasn't been explained to many of the people that have had difficulties and touting the corporate line is just useless. Yeah, people are actually suffering in the world and not being able to spend 70 bucks on an elderly rock star isn't even remotely the worst thing to happen to anyone, but it's clearly caused havoc for some people.

I for one am livid at Warner Bros for their craptastic policies, unclear policies, and their even worse customer communication. I am not the only one who has spent untold thousands of dollars on Warner Bros. artists over the years! As I have mentioned above and will mention again if need be: THIS WAY OF (NOT) COLLECTING PAYMENT BENEFITS THEM, otherwise they would change it. The service rep at Chase agreed on this, "it would make sense that they could cancel out some of the pre-orders and not have to produce as much product"...that's one possibility.

Look past the idea that this is "just a policy" and that folks should know better. Warner Bros does this because it benefits them financially in some way to practice business like this.

I mostly agree with you. The policy is terrible, and even though my order has not yet been canceled (crossing fingers), the charge does come and go pretty much twice weekly on my account.

The only thing I doubt is whether WB is trying to reduce production. I would not be surprised if it has more to do with risk management. In future dealings with them, I will only use PayPal to pre-order from them. It seems like the only way to guarantee that they actually participate in standard business transactions.

Also, you're point about blaming the customers whose orders were canceled is well-taken.

Things should be all go for you if you have gotten another mp3. I got Lady a couple weeks ago. My purchase was only canceled on 9/6. I suspect that if you account for the amount of your order, like you would a check that hasn't cleared (or treat your credit card like a checking account in this case), you will be fine. The actual charge will appear on your card when the CD/book/etc ships. All will go off without a hitch if you know for sure the amount to cover the pre-order is in whatever account was used to make the pre-order.

Hopefully too much of a panic button wasn't pushed for those who've had a successful "pre-order" so far.

I can't speak for anyone else, as there appears to be a number of reasons this happens, but in my case it seemed to happen because my credit card didn't have enough credit available on the day WB sent in their most recent authorization.

Yes indeed.Hands on and the old fashion way .I have a Best Buy here in the next town over and they usually pretty good stocking their shelves .I dont recall if they have vinyl in the store though. Most of the record shops and video shops went south years ago when Walmart,Best Buy other electronics brick and mortar stores came to town.

I know Walmart will stock 24K in the store but they wont bother with the vinyl copy in the store.

Most of the time its cheaper in the stores then WB music store site.We dont have the inflated shipping charges to deal with.

I have a feeling one the reasons WB is busting balls with its customers .They rather sell their music content in stores then online.Customers will say screw it I will go to the store and buy it and not deal with the credit card BS and other crap they pull on the website store.

I have yet to find any retailer (brick and mortar store) that is going to carry the deluxe CD with photo book. Has anyone else had any luck in that department?

I went to my local music store Everyday Music, which has a huge separate store just dedicated to vinyl. They ordered the 24 Karat album for me. So simple and easy! I have to inquire if the CD store will have the deluxe version in stock. If not, they can order it for me.

It would have been nice to have the lithograph and photo booklet. But for now, I'll be happy with the other items, even though I don't, at the moment, have a record player. But I'll feel more connected with the music by having the vinyl album in hand.

Not only was my order placed on Backorder despite ordering minutes after the preorder began, but they just cancelled my order even though I got through the last couple months without having any other issues with them preauthorizing my card. Good thing I'm not a broken ass college student anymore and my bank account can stand loaning $70 to Warner brothers, but still this is obnoxious!

I think this is why credit cards are getting declined. I have a HUGE limit on my card. If WB is preauthorizing over and over at some point they may have authorized up to my limit. Maybe Chase or Visa only allows a certain number of those to be released at a time. It could be that WB is also not releasing the previous authorization before placing the new one.

Which makes no sense, if it was a good preauthorization the first time, why do they need to keep doing it over and over? ANd how is that "Secure" keeping my info on file like that? Shouldnt they destroy the credit card data at a certain point to keep it safe?

I did not get the backorder notice until last week. I ordered minutes after it went live!! ANd there are people on this site that ordered around the same time that are listening.

I have yet to receive any reply to my emails from Warner. I was sure to note that in my complaint to the BBB..

I hope if Fleetwood Mac is without a contract and shopping around for a record company they look elsewhere.

I'm not happy for anyone dealing with Warner Brothers and their absurd consumer-unfriendly procedures, but I'm glad I am not alone in my disdain. I abandoned my efforts to contact or do business with them. Like you, I hope the band would kick their record company's ass out the door. There are many other companies that would treat them and their fan base with much more care.

My worst fear is that, as ****ed up as Warner Brothers are, that my three attempts to make a purchase will get fulfilled, and they bill and send me three orders. I assume that returning the orders and recouping my payments would turn into stressful and prolonged ordeal.

HA!!
I forwarded my BBB confirmation email to the Warner music email and I got a phone call from Warner in 10 minutes!!!!

I spoke with a guy who has been dealing with this pain in the butt and he also says the Paypal meathod is the best way to deal with this. BUT that did not help most of us who used a credit card.

I explained to him that the preauthorizations are mounting up and that is causing the declines.

However, there is not much he can do about that. I guess that is just how they work

I mentioned that I also purchased from Amazon and that I did not have the problem

I also told him that they should get this issue resolved in case Fleetwood Mac releases an album next year.

Good news though... he thinks it is selling well based on the number of people he has had impassioned emails from! I apologized on OUR behalf for us being a little bit crazy when it comes to Stevie.

Have no fear. If for some reason you should recieve all of your orders, they come with a return postage-paid label. Just open them up, sticker it, and send it back!

On Saturday I e-mailed WB to cancel two of the deluxe cd sets with photo books I pre-ordered on the first day they were available. Today I got a pleasant e-mail confirming the order was cancelled and I did see the funds were back in my account. Just now I got an e-mail that order was on back order and wouldn't ship for 30 days.

I did receive my LP today, so that's good, but I also ordered the deluxe CD bundle with the litho as part of the same order. Hopefully they won't screw that up.

Good question. I checked with my record store. Their only standing order is for the standard edition. I'm fine with that for now; I planned on getting both versions. I can wait a while before obtaining the deluxe version; it's only two songs, and I've already heard them.

I got the vinyl by UPS today. There is now a charge on my credit card for the vinyl and CD/litho set that I actually ordered, and a second charge for just the CD/litho, because they haven't shipped it yet.. They have currently blocked off $170.00 on my credit card for one copy of the CD and one copy of the vinyl. But they have been fast and pleasant regarding inquiries.

Whoa, so glad I saw this, I thought my charge went throw right away but I just checked my bank account and I have TWO pending charges from Warner. Uh, didnt read all the replies but I'm curious, does anyone else have a mystery charge on their account? I ordered both the vinyl and the CD set that came with the photo book and litho. With shipping (what a darn rip off!)my total was $105.18. Right now I have two pending charges, one for $105.18 and another for $63.59. Um....? I see the CD set was $59.99. Am I being charged for a second one? I'm so confused. And ticked really. They also made it look like everything was shipping together (and I questioned from the beginning would I not get my vinyl copy until the 7th or was I getting the CD early? Way to go as far as explaining that WB...) I only checked out once. In retrospect I sure as heck wish I would've bought my vinyl copy from a local record shop as they deserve my support way more than this mess of a record company store... Probably wouldve saved some money too...

Anyway, any idea what the best way to resolve this is? I'm just thankful I have the money in my account at all. I'm on disability, a glitch like this could've been extremely damaging and I'm lucky I had money in my account at all, end of the month is a tough time usually and with my income, a $63 mistake is huge. Looks from what I've read that there's no number to call, just email? Ugh. I do know my bank can cancel a charge but they will only do it if I've contacted the company first and there's potentially a charge though I got of a similar issue with a website once before, just was a huge mess. I hate this. And gosh I might not have even noticed if not for this discussion so thank you everyone. Pretty sure I had the $105 sitting as a pending charge from the day I ordered because I know I looked at my account then... My bank shows my total like the money has already come out so I hadn't even noticed until I took a closer look tonight. May wait and see if the charge straightens itself out. I'm guessing because the vinyl already shipped they made some screwed up attempt to partial bill but failed? Ugh. Not cool.

I contacted them via their contact page, which I found through the confirmation email from when I initially placed the order, if I remember correctly.

I'm glad I had plenty of space on my card too. At least now I have the vinyl, which still comes with a digital copy, so at least if something goes haywire, I'll still be able to listen to it at home and at work. :D

Yes The hot delivery trucks.I had nightmares the other night that a forklift ran over the package.

That almost happen with my eBay purchase of Stevie Source radio show LP's
The LP's were left out in front of my garage doors in the sun.

I wonder if they can replace the set or the second LP without much hassle.

I was extremely surprised I just got an email from Warner Brothers alerting me that the deluxe version/lithograph package, which I attempted to order three time, but had canceled three times ( I just gave up), was being mailed!

I still won't believe it until it's in my hands. I'll be a happy if it's true, but I'm still mad about how badly they handle transactions, leaving customers confused, with no clear communication on the status of orders, except for cancellations notices.

I'm glad to see the CD is getting ready to go out for some off us.

Will after the BS that some of us went through with this collection.Today I emailed WM to let them know I had to get a new credit card due to the fraud I had last week.
My CC company put a block on my card last week due to some internet company breached my account. So WB and my other bills got block because of this so WM canceled my CD order and told my to order it again on their site.I had a new card UPS overnighted to me last Friday and got it activated and its OK.

I tried to reorder the CD set earlier tonight and it did not go through for some reason.I noticed in the credit card number section was framed with a red around it.and no explanation why.I know I typed my numbers, exp date and the 3 pass code. in correctly.

I wonder if they block me or ban me from the store.

They probably will send me a bill to pay for the vinyl. As of now it on the house.

I was thinking trying PayPal with them.As some of you used purchasing the collection.

I wait and see what they will say.

In the next week or so I am drafting a letter outlining the problems that have happened to various customers and Stevie Nicks fans who have had problems with Warner Bros Store. I will happily give others a chance to provide input (specifically list your grievance) and/or sign the letter. I am demanding they stop this practice and will essentially threaten a lawsuit.

I am going to see Fleetwood Mac tonight and next week I will be running to regular stores to see if I can get a hold of a CD of 24 Karat...but I will be drafting a letter.

No one should have to anticipate these indignities, the most recent list of things happening to people alone is enraging, and they need to make their policies clear to potential customers. I for one did not consent to what they did to me/my credit card. And now people are getting vinyl that skips? People are having illegitimate charges on their cards? This is insane.

No amount of using PayPal or any other thing is going to stop this corporation from ****ing riding roughshod over the people keeping it open. If I were a lesser person I would just say **** that old bag millionaire Stevie Nicks! Only thing is that I know she has no idea these people do this to her fans.

Anyone wanna take it to her people? Liz? Karen? Etc...

Judging from comments made from people (I think really VivFox is the only one with this issue...or at least the only comment I remember reading), I seriously believe this is due to old turntables with bad needles. I really don't think it's a manufacturer error.

I think these new LP's are not made good as our Rumours and Belladonna LP's.

Those engineers are probably long gone and retired.

Louie just mentioned that one of his disc's was warp due to the hot UPS truck.

The records were pressed (and shipped out) in Nashville at United Record Pressing, which has been around since the 1940's. Personally, my vinyl copy sounds flawless (but I have a great turntable and a brand new needle).

Any vinyl will warp if exposed to heat for a good amount of time. I think UPS would be the ones to blame for that one.

The only thing Warners should get flack for (besides this stupid pre-auth B.S.) is that some people didn't get liner notes in their copies...oh yeah, and the paper sleeves.

On people who did not get liner notes and sleeve.Thats a QC problem.
I've received records with out sleeves back in the 1980's.

Yes UPS should pay for the damages on the warp records.

Yes I dont understand WM way of doing these pre-auth crap. They should just charge the purchaser at the time of sale and if there is any issues having the product in stock at the time of shipment they can just back order it or cancel at that time if sold out and just send the money back to the card holders account.

Lol, you would not believe this (or maybe you would). I've been out of town for the past two weeks doing wildland firefighting on the King Fire (my first time!) with very little internet connection, and even though it was an amazing adventure, I was also missing all the awesomeness leading up to the release. I've still only heard the first two singles and some snippets.

So now I'm finally home and ready to listen, and I just got my vinyl in the mail from Amazon today, and I was really excited, and lo and behold... an entire record is missing. Yep, no side 3 and 4. Of course, Amazon is out of stock, and there's no telling when a new shipment will come in, so I didn't see any point in getting them to send me a new one. I'm trying my luck with a different seller, but most of them seem to have very few in stock too. Fingers crossed, I guess.

I would get the defective item. Well, at least I got liner notes...

Their system is quite interesting. I currently don't have enough funds in my account for the bundle I ordered, and I also don't have overdraft protection. However, their authorization has expired, and they appear to have sent the bundle via UPS anyway.

My story.I got an email last night stating that they are looking into my problem why I'm having issues reordering the CD set .

The problem was the order freezing up after hitting the button to precess the order and a credit card number area was highlighted red around my number.

I know I typed my number in right with all of the info on the card and its a new card I just got last Friday.

Atlease the site should let the person know whats wrong what they entered and let the person fix the entries right away.

A red highlighted crap with no explanation is a joke.

Lets see how long that will take.I will just move on with PayPal If I dont hear from them quick like.

I still don't understand this issue. For many years I've been purchasing music online; from Amazon and other sites. It's always been the same easy process. I usually use my debit card more frequently than a credit card.

The seller typically has no reason to know the status of my bank account.

If, for example, I was using a debit card and didn't have the money in the bank, one or two things might happen: the bank would have stopped the transaction, or I would have suffered an overdraft fee.

With regard to a credit card, I'm essentially using borrowed money to pay for the product. Unless my credit card was frozen or exceeded its limit, there is no reason for transaction not to take place.

So what is the legitimate reason for a pre-authorization process? It just confuses, frustrates and drives away customers. Why is Warner Brother, unlike any other online business, have this unnecessary process in place?

Thats a good question.

In order to by music from them. They make it like applying for a freaking mortgage or car loan.

Quoted from Warner Music stores help center.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. We are not accepting cash, checks or money orders at this time. In most cases, your credit card will not be charged until your order actually ships. If you are paying with PayPal, you will be charged at the time of purchase.

Once your order is placed, our system checks with your credit card company to confirm funds are available, this is an authorization only, not a charge. Authorizations will be removed in approximately 3-5 days depending on your financial institution. You will only be charged once your order ships

If you use a debit card to pay for your order, please keep in mind that most items are billed when shipped and funds must be available in your account at that time.

We are very sorry but we do not accept Visa or American Express Gift cards.

Quote.

Its beyond me why they can't take US Post Office money orders.

And they would debit and credit the amount every week. So, you never really knew when they were going to test your account. It was maddening.

I'll believe it when I see it, but my tracking from UPS says my 2 packages (cd and litho I presume) were delivered by post office today to my home. I haven't left work yet, but hopefully they'll be in my mailbox when I get home. That would be a true miracle coming from the post office.

So sorry for all you guys having issues. So frustrating when that kind of stuff happens. :distress:

I haven't received the vinyl, but I got the CD in the mail (it's ridiculous to open. You have to practically tear it to pull out the flap on one side, but if you don't open the flap you can't push out the booklet from the other end) and the lithograph in a tube, today.

How bizarre that your vinyl has not arrived yet. My UPS tracking says my CD's are in the station right near Skip's house so I figure they'll get here Monday or Tuesday. When you say booklet, do you mean the 54 page candid picture book?

The first edition - where her hair is covered. I got #1115/2000.

The first edition - where her hair is covered. I got #1115/2000.

I got the other one. #1656/2000. Now I have shop for the proper frame. Though I'm happy with the one I have, maybe other Ledgies might want to swap lithos with others if they have a mutual different preference.

The whole package is designed well. The slip sleeve case for the booklet was unexpected. Nice photos inside. I like the general layout/presentation of the lyrics.

But the random, odd spaces that I guess are supposed to inform the pauses in her voice are not necessary, as are the random ellipses. Oh well. (I'm a writer with a graphic design background, so I'm more sensitive to these foibles).

Overall, I'm enamored by it all. The album is great; Mabel Normand being my stand out track. Its intensity and free form rambling reminds me of Lou Reed's Velvet Underground.

I already have the vinyl album. I will likely complete the set and get the standard 24 Karat Gold CD with the different running order.

I look forward to seeing what kind of reaction this album is going to get. I have a feeling it's going to be generally positive. I hope she revisits this approach again; still so many viable songs in the vault! Go back to Nashville Stevie!

Got the vinyl delivered on the 3rd (same day as my digital iTunes download) - thanks Amazon. Very nice.

As for the deluxe CD I pre-ordered through Warners, I still haven't even gotten an email regarding it being sent at all. *taps on desk impatiently*

My CD/Litho shipped Thursday night/Friday morning, so I'm expecting it Monday or Tuesday. I already have the vinyl, but it's going to be great to take this record to the gym or when I study. It's such a great album - I'm pretty much in love with every song on it, though I am a little burned out on Lady (I love the song, just need a break, lol).

That said, I didn't have much of an issue with WB. The repeated authorizations was worrisome, and the overlap where they had charged me twice for the CD could have blown a hole in things if I hadn't had plenty of room on my card. Overall, I don't have much to complain about, but I know other people certainly do, and I think WB really needs to rethink their pre-order strategy to be more in line with Amazon or something.

I received my Deluxe CD Bundle and Lithograph both today whilst at work... Such a treat after an 11 hour day! Beautiful packaging, beautiful images, beautiful music. I loved both TISL and IYD... but this does seem to trump those beautiful, yet glossy efforts. If this were a 13 track album, featuring WATCH DEVIL and losing IYML, Twisted & Carousel (I love all 3 songs, but they should be bonus tracks).

It looks like I lost the lithro by waiting to hear from WM .

I got an email from a lady named Rachel today saying they had to cancel the order due to my credit company put a lock on my card because of the fraud problem that I had.

She said they tried to fix the order and it failed to go through the system.

In the mean time I was waiting for them .The Lithro sold out.WTF.......................

I will just order using Paypal and get the bundle before it sells out.

Yep. The litho is gone and the double vinyl has sold out for the second time. Not sure if they are going to press anymore vinyl or print anymore lithos as the links to order both have been removed. It just says "broken link" instead of the usual "currently out of stock".

I wonder if that's it for those two?

You can still order the photobook and deluxe Cd, though!

The answer is simple - make sure you have the money in the bank.

Or use PayPal, where you will know FOR SURE that the money has been transferred just the one and only time.

I used Paypal and when I didn't receive my CD, I emailed Warners. They said my order didn't go through even though I had a Paypal receipt. Warners refunded my money and gave me a coupon for 10% off if I re-ordered. I did that and got $6 off my order. I should be getting my CD any day now but I have to wait for the litho because it's on back order.

Not to stir the pot or anything, but how can the litho be on "back order"? Both litho #1 (the stupid hat) and litho #2 (the wild hair) were both limited editions of 2000 copies each. They are both now sold out.

So if the litho is on "back order", does this mean that they're going to pick a third image and do a limited run of 2000 copies there?

Those who did not get the vinyl record - I've posted this a few places here and there- Music Direct has the vinyl in stock. They are an online vinyl /audiophile store. They are reputable.
