I've never heard this song. And it's not on YouTube. Could someone please post this song for me.

Thank you very much. That is def. going to be Lady then. And I'm very intrigued as to how it turns out.

Thanks for posting this. I haven't heard this in a long time, so I forgot all about the song, except for the title.

I hope that "Lady" is this song, because it's a very nice song. The word is mentioned in the song, but I'm perplexed as to why she wouldn't use the much better title"Knocking on Doors" and choose the more banal one syllable "Lady." Wasn't that a title of a very famous Kenny Rogers song?

Perhaps Stevie originally intended it to be "Lady," but when the demo started making the rounds with collectors, someone entitled it by the more obvious title "Knocking on Doors."

I really hope so. I hadn't heard it either, and it very rapidly became one of my very favorite demos. :o

I have really wanted Lady to be Knocking on Doors, but after the suggestion was planted, I now am hoping it's Rich Old Lady.

Or it could be neither and a full rendition of Lady from the Mountain.

Which of course would be great.

I feel this song will definitely get the secret love treatment, where it goes from a straight ahead ballad to something totally different. Especially if it's the next "single" there's no way it stays a piano ballad. Blue water and she loves him still are the only 2 that I think will stay as ballads.

I can't stand the fact that so many are in denial that moonlight IS Lady From the Mountain. Just radically changed. That's how the song is being officially presented to us forever. She's not going to just 3 years later rerelease the song close to the demos we all know.

She is redoing twisted tho so maybe I could be wrong, but lady from the mountain is on IYD, end of story.

I'm perfectly fine with Moonlight being it for Lady from the Mountain..I actually hope it is another song. The one I'm smarting over is Julia anyway.

A medley of the two would be pretty cool too, and certainly a possibility. If not that though, I think I would still prefer it to be Knocking On Doors. I like that song so much more than Rich Old Lady. That "honey dream" line is pretty beautiful though.

Don't forget...chance it could be "China Doll" she uses the word "Lady" the same amount of times as she does in "knocking on doors"

I would rather "Lady" end up being "China Doll" by a mile over what we know as "Knocking on Doors", or "Rich Old Lady". But honestly, unless she changed the lyrics drastically, on the demo, Stevie sings "China Doll" with emphasis and inflection - it's the hook, otherwise I'd expect it maybe to be retitled: "Lady, I adore"

So I'm inclined that if "Lady" is not "China Doll", I'd prefer it be a song/demo we've never heard before.

Now don't go giving me even a shred of hope where I know there is none!

I don't dislike "Knocking On Doors", but I much prefer "China Doll" and "Rich Old Lady". I suspect "China Doll" has been relegated to the holy grail of "Rhiannon" songs so I'm not holding out hope for it on this occasion, but "Rich Old Lady" is a possibility.

I was recently thinking about the elusive "Rhiannon" project and wondered if this might be the next outing for Stevie and Dave? I suspect she would want to lavish some time on this group of songs and with Dave's involvement, one could expect a full orchestra to be present. A track like "Forest Of The Black Roses" is just crying out for this type of treatment - imagine a similar arrangement to that of "Beauty And The Beast". It could be so beautiful.

She mentioned in the 'In Your Dreams' documentary that playing "Rhiannon" with Dave on the pilot episode of his aborted HBO show (which I really wish they'd release in some form), was the moment she knew she wanted to work with him. So bringing her "Rhiannon" project to fruition, with Dave producing, may very well be in the back of her mind.

And on the off-chance that it isn't, someone needs to tweet Dave with the idea! lol

I always skipped over China Doll thinking based on the title I would hate it. Having just sat down and listened to it, I hope Lady is China Doll or Rich Old Lady. Both are gorgeous.

Somehow "Knocking on Doors" escaped me, so I'm now glad to have this demo to listen to. If it turns out to be "Lady" that's cool, but if not, I now have this new beautiful song to listen to. Thank you.
