Does anyone know what kind of wine Stevie is referring to in The Dealer?

It must have been really good because she sounds very emotional about it.
"On top of everything else, you drank my ****ing wine"!

Maybe some Napa Cab? I don't really know of course but it doesn't really sound that strident to me ..I think the shriek in Some Become Strangers is much more so.

Well, I just look at it like when you're seducing someone you turn on soft music, turn the lights out and bring out the wine and Stevie is saying you know, it was my music. I work best in the dark. It doesn't blind me or place me at a disadvantage, it gives me an advantage. And it was also my wine. I seduced you, not the other way around. I held all the cards.

hands down the best line in the song
listening to the demos, it's just not as goosebump worthy
but the 24K one, makes me grin every time
i imagine her on stage doing new hand gestures with a bottle of wine in hand and a glass in the other

i'm not good enough for you but my wine is :D

I thought it was a really funny line.
A lot of bad behavior can be excused, but drinking all of someone's good wine is unacceptable.

I'm surprised no one has made the "my whine" joke yet. I'll just head that off now.

That's my interpretation, too. I think it's a very clever and original way to communicate control in a relationship.

I just look at is as a simple declaration of ownership and control, nothing more. Her fault, her mood, her wine. I see no elaborate, deep back story.

And that's why the meaning is clear when she says she doesn't want to be the dancer. She doesn't want anyone else to set the tone or tune.

Of course, dancer/dealer is mixing metaphors, but there you go.

Then, you get to the end and she says "tell me, I'm the dealer," so even when she's expressing control, there's an admission that she's lost it. No matter how things started out, now she's only trying to fool herself.

It had crossed my mind many times  But I was thinking more of all the whining going on with regards to the new song "It was my fault, my mood and my whiiinnneee......" :sorry:;)

That's how I see it too. A great description of how she was in control of her fate/destiny. It was her choice to drink lots of wine  And it's a good word to rhyme with "Shines"

Isn't "my wine" an idiom in the English language? In Germany we sometimes use it as a synonym for "my fault".

If it is, I've certainly never heard it.

I always interpreted it in the way that Michele and PenguinHead did. But this topic has me a little more enthusiastic for a more literal take. Perhaps someone took a sip from her glass in the middle of her writing the song and she had something to say about it?

I just realized we rather say "my beer" than "my wine". :D
