I talked to John Kinney today, and he confirmed that he's retiring from The Nicks Fix. He decided earlier this year that he is going to transition out soon to focus more on his wonderful family, which he had already been doing for some time. He remains extremely close to the Nicks family and has been backstage at many shows and attended their personal events. If you've ever met John in person, you know that he is an extremely kind, gentle, and tall (!) guy. And that is reflected in the Nicks' family (including band members) enduring love and respect for him.

John's site will still be online, but there will no longer be any official updates after some point. There will be a new official site that will be revealed soon. Some of you have already seen the link, not sure if that was a slip up or if they intend to reveal it sometime today or later this week. Most importantly, John always maintained his site on his own terms and the Nicks' always supported him.

Anyway, that's the official word and hopefully that will put some of the rumors about John's site to rest. If you have any other questions, you can email me privately.

So the official site is up now. It's StevieNicksOfficial.com (http://stevienicksofficial.com/). The reason why it's not StevieNicks.com is that someone is sitting on that domain and the Nicks camp isn't interested in pursuing legal action.

It would be great if the new official site imported all of the rockalittle.com info. That site has been my go-to for years.

They aren't planning to incorporate any of his site content. The official website will likely just be a marketing vehicle, similar to how FleetwoodMac.com is set up, and the various updates will be left to the fan sites and social media outlets (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).

One of the nice things that John mentioned is that Stevie's camp has finally started to embrace social media (because the music industry has been going on that direction) and they are acutely aware of all of the fan sites and message boards.

Guess I'll just keep using the cached version of rockalittle.com, then. :/

I should be fair, I'm glad they're finally embracing social media, but that won't help me if I need to see the lyrics to a b-side, or am looking for an old picture for a playlist.

Thanks Daniel for the update.I can understand about John retiring from the site.He put alot of time and years into it and taking up family time up doing so.

I hope John's info will get merge into the new site.I hate to see NicksFix info go to waste in cyberspace and on only Internet Archives.org.If it is OK with him.

My NicksFix bookmark now goes only to her new album info.

Happy retirement John. Enjoy it.

Thanks for the wonderful Stevie website which was the first website that I found about Stevie and check daily way back in the 1990's when I got my first PC.

It's great to finally hear "Camp Stevie" is starting to get it when it comes the social media...It's even more important that Stevie herself "get's it" and hopefully takes an interest in her internet image...Stevie needs to realize that she could have this incredible presence on her sites without compromising the mysterious image she worked at all these years...

Good for John, but sad that we could lose all the years of work he put into building what was, at one point, THE place to go for all things Stevie.

It would be great if the fans could do something to thank him for all of his years of hard work.

Yes I agree. Now I more understand after reading Daniel's OP .I couldn't imagine the time he had to spend gathering the info and keeping it running .Yes we got frustrated at times because NicksFix was slow on updates. He only can do so much.I wish we could help him with updates on the site.

I was going to start up a website years ago but never did. After seeing all the work is involve .Hats off to all of you that have Stevie-FM websites online including Michele on this forum for keeping us fans up to date with Stevie /Lindsey and the current band member and alumni member info. I would be lost without these updates.
Most of you probably agree with me.

Aww, that's too bad. I recall when Nicksfix had it's own message board and we actually got answers to 'Ask Stevie'. John IS a nice guy too.

Aw - it's the end of an era! I always thought it was so cool that Stevie allowed a fansite to become the official site, and allowed a true-blue fan to continue running it. These company sites are almost always generic "BUY MY ALBUM, BUY MY MERCH, BUY MY TICKETS" online store displays with maybe a few photos or videos thrown in, if you're lucky. The comprehensiveness of a fansite is discarded.

Shoot.

Oh well. Best of luck to him!

Totally rare. So, as protective as Stevie's inner circle is of Stevie, they let a fan into their family. Unfortunately, I don't ever see that happening again. There are just too many crazy people, who have made themselves clearly known on social media, that can potentially pose a threat to Stevie and others.

These company sites are almost always generic "BUY MY ALBUM, BY MY MERCH, PURCHASE MY TICKETS" online store displays with maybe a few photos or videos thrown in, if you're lucky. The comprehensiveness of a fansite is discarded

It's a lost art, sadly. But even fan sites are trying to make money via Google ad words and Amazon referrals.

One thing I cant stand is when a big corporate company takes over and ruins a good product from a small ma pa bossiness .I seen a couple good forums that I'm a member or was a member got wasted, shut down or trashed by the big wigs.

Good for John for retiring! He worked so hard for us, especially in the early years of the internet. I even contributed some of those hi-res images still on the site back in the day. It was so fun back in the early days.
:D

John if you read this...wishing you all the very best in your new adventures! Cheers.

Surprised he's retiring with all of the new SN/FM activity in years, but know things happen in people's lives that dictate decisions. Although I switched from the Nicksfix to another news/fan site a few years ago, I thank John for all of his efforts and info provided during the 2000's. Best wishes!

He definitely fostered the collaborative spirit in the fan community, in the same way that Marty and Lisa did.
