Since the Stevie Nicks Recording A New Album With Dave Stewart Producing In Nashville (http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=53598) thread has become massively huge (4th largest in the Stevie section ) and Stevie is not in the recording phase anymore I thought a new thread for all the upcoming press announcements / interviews / photos / snippets / and basically all things "24 Karat Gold related" might be in order...

I think I may try and locate some of the better items ( pictures / tweets / snippets / etcetera ) from the longer thread and relocate them here if people think it's a good idea...

The snippets would be nice ..I was trying to find the 3rd mystery song one when another Ledgie thought it might be Baby Doll with extra lyrics and gave up trying.

I think it will be more than even odds that The Dealer is going to be the first video and single .It has already been pretty much confirmed that it is the first song on the album and it is also a catchy mid tempo song.

BlueDenimLamp, thanks for posting! It's been so fun to watch how quickly this album has come together. And I gotta say, there's something particularly exciting about anticipating which demos will make the cut, rather than not knowing anything about the songs before the tracklist/single/album is released.

I tend to agree with you here. I'd be extremely happy as well...but it seems like this person has basically read all of our posts, speculations, (which of late have been songs like Have No Heart, Amber, Gypsy Beggars, Joan Of Arc, etc) and is trying to get us all excited in order to set us up for a "letdown" once the real track list has been made known.
I'm officially wiping my hands clean from all of these wiki and facebook people who are hiding in the shadows.
This tracklist is great...but I'm not getting excited about anything until something official crops up. Hopefully that will be very soon.

Stevie Nicks Shares Details of '24 Karat Gold' Rarities Collection Exclaim News (http://exclaim.ca/News/stevie_nicks_shares_details_of_24_karat_gold_rarities_collection)
http://i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r663/Nicksiannation/nicks1_zpsc33c4351.jpg
By Alex Hudson
We already knew that Fleetwood Mac great Stevie Nicks had a rarities album on the way, and now she's shared a few more details about the impending 24 Karat Gold - Songs from the Vault, including the exact release date.
The CD version will be out on October 7 through Warner Bros. Records, while the double-vinyl version will come out ahead of time on September 29. There will also be a deluxe CD edition that comes with two bonus cuts, plus 48 pages of exclusive photographs. One of those old Polaroids can be seen above.
Nicks said in a statement, "Most of these songs were written between 1969 and 1987. One was written in 1994 and one in 1995. I included them because they seemed to belong to this special group. Each song is a lifetime. Each song has a soul. Each song has a purpose. Each song is a love story... They represent my life behind the scenes, the secrets, the broken hearts, the broken hearted and the survivors. These songs are the memories — the 24 karat gold rings in the blue box. These songs are for you."
The album was produced by Dave Stewart, Waddy Wachtel and Stevie Nicks. Look for Nicks to preview snippets from the album on her newly launched Instagram account every week starting August...
At least this write up seems be a bit clearer as to what versions of 24K will be available...

I wish it would. I really like the song; especially the lyrics. One of my favorite lyric:
My girlfriend saw my husband coming across town to get me
He's been gone for five years or more, and expects me to be waiting
Lord help me buy a train ticket, what of I've got to sell?
A pink satin dress, a silver tray, an abalone shell

I don't buy any of the leaked/unofficial track listings, but this is the one that was posted to Wikipedia for a few hours & then removed, according to stevienicksinfo. And if it was on Wiki, then it MUST be true, right?! Still - a different list:
UNVERIFIED 24 Karat Gold Track List
01. 24 Karat Gold
02. Gold and Braid
03. The Black Space Needle
04. Something Exquisite
05. Star Shine Silver
06. Priest of Nothing
07. My Sanctuary, My Stronghold
08. All the Beautiful Worlds
09. I Call You Missing
10. The Maker of Birds – Rhiannon’s First Song
11. The Forest of the Black Roses – Rhiannon’s Second Song
12. The Forsaken Love – Rhiannon’s Final Song
13. Cecelia
14. The Charmed Ones Remain
15. Turnstile
16. Blue Water (The Sound of My Gypsy)
We'll see if either were accurate next week I guess!

I enjoy seeing peoples' wishlists, and how they compare with what I'd like to see, but these fake tracklists are dumb and not really believable at all. I sorta wish they'd release the official list so we can stop speculating about what's on it, and start talking about what we hope she's done with each of the songs. I'd be really interested in reading what people think are the strengths and weakness of the various tracks in demo form before we get to hear the final versions.

I told him I'd be happy with this track list but would find it easier to digest if reputable sources were cited, and asked him once again to cite his sources. He continued to "like" and "comment" on other people's posts and questions and has continued to ignore mine.

Ok folks, I used Shazam (again) on the clips Dave Stewart posted to his Facebook. I was able to tag that unknown clip, Shazam (the app) says it's actually titled "I Don't Care," and recognized that it was by Stevie Nicks. Edit/caveat: it also says "I Don't Care" is the name of the album, and there is always the possibility that someone burned the audio of that clip, with that title, to a CD and uploaded it to one of the CD databases - while possible, that seems somewhat unlikely.
That's not on any tracklist we've seen, and now we (maybe) have a title.

I remember when I used to check the Random Notes section of Rolling Stone for tidbits about upcoming records. I remember reading a snippet there about the upcoming new record from Fleetwood Mac (which turned out to be Mirage) which promised a country tune by Christine McVie ( I can only assume they meant That's Alright and got the wrong name). So even reputable sources sometimes get it wrong. Anyway, it's fun to speculate. :)

So... either they've managed to move the United Artists Theatre from Los Angeles to Nashville, or Stevie, Dave & Paul Boyd have managed to be in two places at once, or Moe is a troll.
Pick which option you think is the most likely. ;)

That theater is beautiful and the perfect place to shoot a Stevie video. It's Deco with a bit of Gothic. I could totally see The Dealer being shot there.

The dates of the theater pics are before the video was shot...How do you know the theater pics have anything to do with the video???
The first shot of the theatre was posted on Friday. The majority of the time, camera angles, lighting, etc., are worked out several days in advance of video and film shoots.
Additionally, Paul Boyd tagged Stevie in that first shot of the theatre.
The two most recent photos of the theatre were posted on Monday -- which, per Paul Boyd & Dave Stewart's Facebook posts, was the day shooting for Stevie's video began.
To me, that's an awful lot of evidence that the video is being shot in Los Angeles at the United Artists Theatre (which is located inside the Ace Hotel).

That's a good question. Maybe Stevie hadn't yet returned to LA, though?
Dave was in LA at least part of last week, when his sons performed at the Roxy. But are we certain that he went back to Nashville over the weekend, too, when Kaya did? Perhaps he stayed in LA.

Remember the Scarlet oHara Stand Back video. That was really her video for Julia. I can't see her doing a video for Julia in a theatre. Think it's a ballad, not Julia.

Why not? The song Julia was based on a movie of the same name. Filming a music video for it in a theatre would be exceedingly appropriate.
Not that I think Julia is the single, but I digress.

I love the movie Julie without Stevie's involvement. She travels a long way to save her friend. (Goes to the end of the earth.) It's epic. How will they pull that off in a theater--running up and down the stairs. Also it's a performance piece. That song doesn't fit as an emotional performance piece.

The Fillmore West...
http://i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r663/Nicksiannation/b0old_interior_view_zps36cc1e59.jpg
What are the chances that since some of the demos date back to 1969 she if filming in an old theater in an effort to recreate the atmosphere of the old Fillmore West...
How many times has Stevie mentioned "The Fillmore"? Fritz played there...Fleetwood Mac played there...Stevie talks of the days before FM, before she and Lindsey moved to LA with a great fondness...
The stage pic with the red chairs reminds me of the Belcourt Theatre in Nashville. Dave likes that place and it's small and probably unexpected for Stevie to be there so maybe that's where it was taken? The other picture, errr, it's hard to tell. Maybe one picture was taken in LA and one in Nashville?

People like ChiliD clobbered me over the head and got me to open up to the pre 1975 lineups. Because of that, I found a gold mine of incredible music. I thought the same thing and wouldn't be surprised if he turns out right all along and this was all damage control from very legal aggression.
I'd be really surprised if he was right about everything. But maybe they thought it would generate enough disappointment to be problematic, or some combination of him being partially right and generating bad press.

I was also trashed for presenting factual information yesterday pointing to Moe being a troll. In any event, another user from Ivory Keys has now interacted with Paul Boyd on Facebook (with a screenshot to prove it) and Paul Boyd, Stevie's music video director, confirmed that Julia is NOT the first single. He said to "stand by" and that the first single will be announced soon. I still think that the first single is very likely "The Dealer" or "Gold and Braid." Both songs would lend themselves to the type of performance/location involved with the video. Would be cool to have Stevie singing The Dealer in the United Artists Theatre with various images from her four decade career on the screens behind her.

For sure. I meant only the track listing. But I've been a bit lackadaisical about gathering information myself, but looking forward to the final product later this year.

I agree. The Dealer would be a great lead single, especially if it remains close to the demo musically. I'm still confused if she is re-singing/re-recording the demos or these are the original demos.

Right? So now we go back to the possibility that "Julia" might not even be on the album. So really, we only have 24 Karat Gold, Starshine, The "I Don't Care" song, The Dealer (per FF77's info) and "possibly" Watch Devil (per Miami Herald writer Howard Cohen, who was also the first to confirm The Dealer).
Of course, It wouldn't surprise me one bit when they finally release the official list, and we get 24 Karat, Starshine and 14 OTHER SONGS completely removed from the previous three fake tracklists. I'm betting we're in for some unexpected surprises and strange choices from Miss Nicks.

When they were recording, in one photo Dave had that Rhiannon drawing in front of him. It is my hope that was because they were recording the Rhiannon songs.

I cannot tell you how long I have wished The Dealer had been a single, and I really hope that turns out to be the case.
My understanding from the interviews, is that they have re-recorded everything, because she indicated that these tracks were no longer in her possession. Though if they did have old studio tapes from which to sample, or pull instrumentation, that would make this a very unique album, up to 45 years in the making (!).

So the plot continues to thicken. BTW I am not sure I understand the enthusiasm for The Dealer. I know I am a minority of one but the old demo sounds like quite a dull, unmelodic, snoozer of a song with really bad vocals. It's boring. If it is to be a single or something I pray that they really reconceived it production-wise.

Regarding the Moe confession, I also saw it. It did happen.
Regarding The Dealer: I'm not a fan of the slower Tusk version - that one is also a snooze to me. But the Bella Donna version - especially the 2/17/81 (take 8 or 9 I believe) - the one with the lyrics Jesse showed me at an early age in the second chorus - that version I find to be a rocking version with a solid hook that could easily make for a great single and also return her to a more rocker type formate than leading with a single like Every Day, for example.
Edit: This is the version of The Dealer I am referring to.

I agree- the Dealer has never done anything for me. The song just sounds so dated... it's very much of it's era, including the terminology used in the lyrics. I'm not entirely sure how it could be modernized to the point where it would be suitable for 2014 radio play. I could easily say the exact same things about Julia.
Besides that, I don't care for either song because they both lack an element of the mystical. Not to mention the songs are somehwhat channeling the country-rock sound that was very much en vogue during the era they were originally recorded (think Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles, et al); and I just detest when Stevie gets anywhere near country. I prefer my Stevie when she's a cliff dwelling gypsy, sister of the moon, gold dusting straight back to Rhiannon.

I highly doubt that Warner's would even bother with a FB account clearly set up for the purpose of getting attention by spreading questionable information let alone make them issue a public apology...If WB had an issue with the account it would be a simple matter to have it shut down since if the account is reported and FB believes you are not who you say you are they will suspend the account in question until you can prove your identity...
I'm glad that some of this info has been verified but I still think the "Moe" FB is bogus and not to be believed, run by someone who wants extra attention...Remember the fake Stevie twitter @RealStevieNicks that showed up when Stevie was making "IYD"??? It later turned out to be a fake...

In the US? I doubt 50,000 copies would secure her a top 3 position on the Billboard 200 in October. Sia's latest album hit #1 with sales of 52,000 but July is a notoriously quiet month, October is a lot busier and sales are stronger. It's difficult to predict how Stevie's new album will do. Her profile has really grown over the last three years, she's won over a lot of new fans in the wake of Glee and AHS, there also seems to be quite a bit of buzz surrounding the album. I'm predicting lower end of the top 10, top five would be awesome, top 20 acceptable. I'm sure her loyal fans will be out in force the week it's released.

This album will be huge. I think.
SInce it is going to be on Vinyl, it will be in every Urban Outfitters and every Hipster wannabe Gurl will be there buying it to play on their crappy suitcase retro Crosly turntable.
Plus all the "regular" fans that bought and preordered In Your Dreams
Plus some of the older fans that see Fleetwood Mac and hear about it and get interested
Plus the NEW fans gained since IYD from American Horror and Glee
Plus all the new fans from Lady Antebellum involvment
Plus the Fans from her other exploits with Whatshisface from Moron 5
minus the bitchy Ledgies who hate everything ever and will poo-poo the album because they are never happy!
minus any baby boomers who have died since In Your Dreams
Divide that by the fact that album sales are DOWN to begin with over all
Multiply that by the fact the majority of Stevie's fans ARE the type to buy physical copies
Add that fact that Vinyl sales are UP and that of those there are not many artists that are "Mainstream" ( a lot of those albums at Urban outfitters are remix albums) So people will be like "Oh! look! something with MUSIC on it I can listen to!"
I am pretty sure that this ALbum will SURPRISE and at LEAST get to the same Chart position as IYD. If not for a week... it WILL stick around a bit longer. Especially with a Fleetwood Mac tour happening the same time.

I'm not sure what it is but I also think this. I think with IYD, Stevie hadn't been doing a lot for about a year after the unleashed tour. There wasn't much promotion, only once the album was out and she STILL performed the same old Edge of Seventeen and Stand Back. As good as they are, she should've performed songs from the album.
As I've said before, performing For What it's Worth and releasing it as the second single from the album was a BIG mistake. Who under the age of 40 or a Stevie and FM fan would be interested in that?! I couldn't understand it at the time. Moonlight could've been a hell of a lot bigger than ANY of the two singles and would've maintained the short lived success of IYD.
Even though I've only heard a couple of clips from the new album courtesy of a very kind and considerate Dave Stewart who every single Stevie fan should be grateful to, they sound quite commercial and really good with more of a rock element to them.
Stevie and FM have gained a lot more fans in the last three years since IYD and it shows in FM's most recent tour grossing around $100 million. Also, AHS Coven gained Stevie a lot more younger fans and the IYD documentary got quite a lot of attention too.
All of these things and the fact that there has been a lot of promotion for 24 karat on social media makes me think that this album should at least sell a similar amount to IYD and should chart higher in a lot of countries including the US and UK. Fleetwood Mac has had an almost permanent residency on the album charts and Stevie has made one or two appearances on TV and radio so the album should receive more attention than IYD that actually did pretty well in the UK.
I for one am expecting good things for this album. :D

No. The press release stated that the double vinyl was a "limited edition". I don't think you'll be able to find it in a lot of stores. I'm not sure how many copies they will be pressing on vinyl, but the track record with Warner Brothers (and this is just going by their usual number of "limited editions" for annual Record Store Day) is normally only 7,500 copies. My advice to everyone is to snatch up how ever many copies you want when they are available for pre-order.

Oh yeah, and Crosley turntables SUUUUUUCK!!! They are cheaply made and usually stop working within a year or two. Buyer beware.
Any ideas what time Eastern Time the preorder will begin? 12am?

No. The press release stated that the double vinyl was a "limited edition". I don't think you'll be able to find it in a lot of stores. Seeing how In Your Dreams didn't go anywhere near Gold (just over 150,000 copies sold, right?), I'd have to think 7,500 pressings of 24K on vinyl would be a big mistake. I'm thinking the vinyl run will be much smaller than that- perhaps 500-1000 copies.

I've gotten 2 of those things as gifts now- the first lasted about a year after very limited use. I got the second one for my birthday this year- we'll see how long it lasts.

EVERY vinyl record has that sticker. EVERY SINGLE ONE. Yet there are albums in every store. That is just how they sell those things so people want it more and buy it impulsively. If they sell out, they press more. "limited edition" has been a way to sell sell sell since... forever.

Right. Many albums, even in the high demand period for vinyl that we are in, have less than 0,000 copies pressed. The most popular albums get extra pressings, and a very few albums are kept in print (Strangely, Portishead's Portishead is always in print).
Vinyl is relatively expensive to press because of the small quantities, and no label is going to press 100,000+ copies of anything in hopes that they eventually sell.
I expect this double LP to retail at about $29.99, but the pre-order might be higher, as prices for artist pre-sales of vinyl are often higher than average retail.

Yes. Not releasing Moonlight as a single was a huge mistake. It would have been HUGE with all the Trailer Park Cat Ladies and Future Trailer Park Cat Ladies in Training who were/are fans of Twilight. Alas...
I don't think any choice of singles would have gotten any significant airplay to bolster In Your Dreams sales. Radio just doesn't put older artists into heavy rotation. Clear Channel media owns over 90% of US radio stations. They basically decide who to put on the radio, and which artists to push, etc. Like Stevie said over a decade ago in the Destiny Rules documentary, it's the very young (about 10-25) who buy albums these days; and they aren't going to buy a double album by a woman old enough to be their grandmother. Hence why older artists don't get any radio support.

Not quite. It has sold just over 200,000 copies in the US and will likely keep selling slowly with the release of 24 karat because Stevie will most probably mention IYD in her interviews and TV appearances.

I don't know what universe you live in, but I buy almost all of my favorite music on vinyl, and this simply isn't true. Limited means limited, and while *sometimes* more copies are pressed, more often they are not.

I live in the current present and same Universe as the rest of the ledgies. Specifically, Chicago. Located in the Local Group of Galaxies, Sol Sector. And I spend a significant amount of time at the records stores here in chicago, usually every weekend I am there browsing the new releases bin. 8/10 of them say "limited edition!" or sometimes even a Number printed on it. There, or sometimes Urban outfitters when I feel like being around stupid Hipsters buying Prefab Hispter outfits. Also, at the local "new" record stores. One opened last week near me that ONLY sells new vinyl, and I will tell ya... they all had those LImited Edition stickers
I do this because I am an audiophile that collects this stuff. Trust me, they are gonna make the same number of copies as they did for the ****ty artists like Barbra Striesand's last release, which I still see in stores, ****tier artists with even smaller fan base, like Cher, which I still see in stores and super ****tiest artists that even smaller fan base. There are still "limited editions" of Led Zep hanging around some of the lessor Urban Outfitters here in Chicago and NW INdiana.
Maybe something like Adele they made or make more copies, but limited edition is meaning less these days. Maybe compared to the 1980s, when they printed hundreds of thousands, it is all relative.
Hell, I even see "limited Edition" on SNACKS at the grocery store and on bottles of Pop. Months on end. "Limited Edition" is a sales tactic. The Ledgies that want it on Vinyl will buy it the first week. Its the ones that wait a till maybe Christmas that will have the trouble getting it.
Even HUGELY successful albums like Daft Punk Random Access Memory that has been out a year was LImited Edition. There are some still in stock in places, but I am guessing it has sold well enough that there are more on the way.

"Limited Edition" doesn't mean much...Remember the "Limited Edition" of the "IYD" DVD??? It was advertised as only 500 copies made but after the first 500 quickly sold out a second run of 500 was made available...If the demand is there more copies will be pressed...

more attention than IYD that actually did pretty well in the UK.
Stevie promoted the hell out of IYD in the UK. There were huge billboards for it in my nearest city centre and I remember seeing posts on the tube for it. She was BBC breakfast, loose women, a lot of radio 2 promo's, AND her appearance at Hard Rock Calling Festival, but it still missed the top 10. The only other time she has promoted anything outside Fleetwood Mac here was OSOTM.
However, I have noticed far more emphasis on promotion via the net recently. Tori Amos's (who hasn't had a top 10 album since 1998) latest album hit #13 in the charts on the back of largely social media and internet promotion.
There was huge Fleetwood Mac hype here for the tour last year - they got lots of media attention, especially the O2 shows, and Rumours propelled itself back up to #3 in the album charts.
On the back of that, I can see Stevie's next album being more of a success, just like OSOTM was following Tango.

1000 copies is still exceptionally limited. The edition with the photos was the limited one, and it is no longer available.

It all depends on the demand and the label and the artist. If 24 Karat only gets 10,000 pressings, It is highly unlikely that there will be more. I too am an audiophile and vinyl is my preferred format. There are dozens of hugely successful albums that are not even 10 years old that are no longer in print. If you only listen to mainstream artists, then it is more probable you will find unsold copies. Stevie Nicks is not mainstream any longer, and I very much doubt that there will be unsold copies of 24 Karat sitting around in record stores a year after release. Unlike Adele or Coldplay, Reprise isn't going to press extra copies to keep it in print for a decade.
Point being, don't take "limited' with a grain of salt. If you want it, buy it on release, or accept that you may not get one. Don't assume that 6 months later you're going to wander into Urban Outfitters and see it sitting there.

I actually live in the UK and remember all of this promotion but apart from BBC Radio 2 playing the hell out of Secret Love, there wasn't a HUGE amount of promotion for the actual album. I remember BBC breakfast mentioning the album in the interview which was good promotion, but I also remember on Loose Women where they showed the Secret Love video but the actual album was hardly mentioned.
Still, overall the album did receive quite a bit of promotion here in the UK. I just think that being Stevie Nicks, she doesn't need to do silly little interviews to sell thousands.
24 karat gold will go top 10 I think because IYD sold over 10,000 copies in its first week and debuted at #14. A few weeks later, if the album sold the same amount it would've gone top 10, she was just unlucky. This week, the album debuting at #6 sold just over 8,000 so Stevie hardly has to bend over backwards to get a top 10 album, let alone another top 20 one.

What Rabid Stevie fan would be THAT dumb to NOT buy the album right away!?!! haah. If they are already knocking down people to try and be the first time find out the track listing you would think they are ready to POUNCE on the preorders the MILLISECOND they start taking orders. I mean.. $30 is NOT that much money people. If you want it, get it when it comes out, Dont put it on your Christmas List and hope it is still around. I mean.. I might be. But why risk it?

Agreed - There are too many albums I wish I had bought on vinyl when I had the chance. Like Regina Spektor's Begin To Hope or Dreams from The Whitest Boy Alive or Kasabian's Empire and My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade. That last one is $599 on Amazon.

"Limited Edition" consisted of...The point is WB advertised "only 500 copies available" which quickly became a lie when the 500 became 1,ooo leaving the people who thought they owned 1 of 500 feeling cheated...

Sad but true. I have a "want list" of extremely rare vinyl that was released just in the last 5 years...and from mostly mainstream artists, to boot!
Stevie Nicks is not mainstream any longer, and I very much doubt that there will be unsold copies of 24 Karat sitting around in record stores a year after release.
Agreed. I don't see any unsold copies of "Crystal Visions" lying around. If there are any available, prepare to PAY A LOT of money.
I'd have to think 7,500 pressings of 24K on vinyl would be a big mistake. I'm thinking the vinyl run will be much smaller than that- perhaps 500-1000 copies.
I could see 1000 up to 5000, but vinyl is back in a big way. I'm sure Warners knows that that fact and knows that there are more than 500 vinyl aficionados/Stevie fans out there who WILL snatch this up. I can't see them pressing anything lower than 1000. If this first limited run sells out quickly, they'll most likely do another pressing. Sell, sell, sell...
Point being, don't take "limited' with a grain of salt. If you want it, buy it on release, or accept that you may not get one. Don't assume that 6 months later you're going to wander into Urban Outfitters and see it sitting there.
