Do you think the new Stevie Nicks album will be out by November?

From my rudimentary understanding of the process, it takes about 6 months after an album is completed for it to be released. This is to accommodate for album artwork, liner notes, cd pressing, marketing strategizing (including where to sell the album, how to sell the album, what should be the first single, booking the artist on a publicity campaign, etc). November is pretty much 5 months away at this point, and it sounds like they're still doing overdubs in LA. It's just hard for me to see the album emerging so quickly. I hope to be proven wrong!

It's possible some of this non recording related activity is already under way and the September/October release date will happen...The Huff/Post article suggests FM may have the new record out (maybe) in the first half of 2015 so Stevie can't afford to have the release date pushed back to far without risking being in direct conflict with the new FM record coming out...Nobody want's the FM record being delayed because Stevie's record was delayed...Stevie said in her BMI speech when talking about "24 Karat Gold" that it's the fastest she's ever worked so all we can do is hope Dave is able to keep Stevie working at a feverish pace...

I think if Stevie breaks free from Warner Bros/Reprise for this release and instead goes through a smaller/Indie label, it's possible she could hit her November target. She's going about this album differently than she pretty much ever has, so anything is possible! :)

On another note, I keep wondering if Dave will release any song snippets the way he did during the recording of In Your Dreams?

There is nothing about a new album on the Nicks Fix, the "official" site.

Yes I think once the record is out of Dave's hands that's where the delays will start especially if WB is putting the record out and while I think a smaller label would be better for both Stevie and FM as well I don't think they will give up the prestige of being with a major label although I'm quite sure there are many smaller labels that would be thrilled to have them and would go all out and give them the star treatment they are used to...

I did ask Dave on twitter after Mick let the cat out of the bag about what was happening in Nashville if he would post a snippet of one of the new songs like he did with "Everybody Loves You" but never heard anything back...

Did you actually think there would be?

In a perfect world, YES! But with Stevie and Warners, NO! I sincerely hope to be proven wrong...but I just have a feeling that Warners promotion is going to push it back to early to mid 2015.

I voted "no", but I'm praying that Warners/Stevie's camp can stay on track and make it a "yes" for October/November.

I voted yes..given the album's title and their rather odd IMO plan to market it as an" alternative greatest hits" package I believe it will be out in time for the holidays.

When it comes to Stevie, who knows. But she may not even release it physically, so I think an October release is possible.

I would be very sad if she only released this album digitally. Given the material she's using, there's a lot of potential for fantastic liner notes/photos. And as any others here have said, I would love a companion album with the original demos.

I fully expect liner notes along the lines of the "Crystal Visions" book...Everyone will be shocked and highly disappointed if it's a "Digital only" release especially after her ICON award speech where she went on about bringing the fun back to music...

I totally agree! This could be so perfect, but as we have seen with Stevie, she is the queen of missed opportunities. With the state of the music industry, the nature of this album, and the speed at which she wants to release it, I would not be shocked if it was digital only. Fingers crossed that it isn't tho!

I believe the new album will be out by November, as scheduled so far. The timing couldn't be better, actually. Stevie's new album will be promoted while touring with Fleetwod Mac, which provides cross-promotion during the build to Fleetwood Mac's album. Just like they did in the 80's.

according to this article, it could be out in October...

Per the Billboard article...

"Nicks' publicist, Liz Rosenberg, says that Nicks hopes to release the album in October on Reprise/Warner Bros."

Fleetwood Mac will be playing in NYC on Monday and Tuesday, October 6th and 7th. New releases are always on Tuesdays. If they are seriously considering October, then those days would be PERFECT for her to go on the Today Show or Good Morning America or whatever morning shows there are in NYC and promote both her new record plus the Fleetwood Mac reunion tour.

But...we'll see if any of that actually happens.

I seem to recall the "promotional" single Secret Love became available for download in January when IYD did not appear until May.If the same is done for 24 Karat Gold then the single could appear as early as next month:shrug:

Thats a good question.

Almost everybody here knows how I feel about digital only releases.I dont want to get into that here .I hope it does not end up like that.

I'm still pissed about the FM EP and her first release of her IYD docu.

Hey if it turns into a million seller for her with digital only. That will be great for her.It also help her get closer to accept computers and the internet.

Hahahahahahahaha .How bout a vinyl only release.LOL.........................................

One think I'm upset is now I rather see her promote this new album with a solo tour instead of a FM tour.I know the record label is probably has the holiday shoppers on their mind .Anyway she could hold off the release and drop it after the FM tour is over in spring 2015 and do a quick tour to promote it before she goes back for the FM recording.

If Warner Bros. wants to make money, then they should release it no later than the first week of October to take full advantage of the holiday shopping season. I tend to agree if Liz says it, then it will stick. #FingersCrossed

Yes. Thats what I figure.

I wonder if IYD CD would of done better if it was released in Oct/Nov 2010 and have the holiday season to cash in on it plus she could fully promote it during the "Heart and Soul" tour with Rod along with the summer 2011 solo tour.

It's really unprecedented timing that a Stevie solo album is being released as Fleetwood Mac is regrouping for a tour. It appears there will be a bit of cross promotion, which could be confusing.

But does the question of when her album is going to be released really warrent a pole of baseless speculation? It's so pointess.

I strongly don't think Stevie will release her album exlusively on digital. That would suck big time.

It should have been and that way "Soldier's Angel" (which wasn't completed by then) wouldn't have made the final cut. It would have been a "win/win" situation for everyone!

OK .I thought all the recording for IYD plus the CD lithograph work was done at that time.

The fact that they mentioned an October release date in the Billboard article is a pretty good sign...I think they'll want some space between the two records, so I think it's a good bet!

I think it will be out in time for the Christmas season. I'm betting on a mid-late November release date. I wonder if she's doing a proper music video for the lead single because she did for Secret Love on 'In Your Dreams'. Also, wouldn't it just be fantastic if Fleetwood Mac did a proper music video for their lead single like the video for Little Lies. How fantastic would that be?!
