Some people may already be aware that a Christine McVie song called Too Far Gone exists for the new album. This was also done on the 1970 Christine Perfect album:

Me too! I think it will be an updated version in 2014 album. Just a hunch after re-reading the article in which Christine and Lindsey discuss doing something interesting with her old songs.

A danceable new Fleetwood Mac song called Too Far Gone? And Christine saying some other time that Lindsey did something very interesting with one of her songs.

I'd say - drawing a slightly long bow - that we have another Planets of the Universe on our hands where a ballad has become a rocking clubhouse dance track. :)

I like it and I can see why Lindsey would like it too.

I bet it's different (new) song that happens to have the same name. It's hard to see how this lovely, bluesy track could be made "danceable."

In any case, I think "Too Far Gone" should be played in concert back to back with Lindsey's "Gone Too Far." ;)

I too bet it's a completely different song but you never know. The Christine Perfect album, even more so than Buckingham Nicks which has SUCH a strong cult following, is like it never existed. Despite its quiet release on Cd a few years back - it's a VERY well kept secret ... so I suppose it's not impossible she'd feel comfortable re-inventing one of its songs but I somehow doubt it. She tends to dismiss it and have put it completely behind her.

Who knows? Fun wondering and guessing about though ...

according to the LA Times article it's a new song. Lindsey wrote the music and had it unfinished sitting around, and Christine wrote the rest of the song over his music:

Christine McVie eases comfortably into the corner of a leather sofa, about a foot between her and Lindsey Buckingham. He leans forward and side by side, they listen to the playback of "Too Far Gone," a danceable new Fleetwood Mac song they've written together over the last few weeks at a West Los Angeles recording studio.

"This was a great collaboration," Buckingham said. "I had a track without any singing on it, and she wrote the song over it."

In musical terms, to me that means:

Lindsey wrote the chords and flushed it out into an instrumental. Then Christine, wrote the lyrics and melody over his instrumental arrangement.

Leaves me to wonder great things like.... did they trade vocals like Don't Stop or World Turning, or Hold Me etc.....

"Hold Me" is sung together though Christine sings the melody. It would be cool to have a song like that.

"Think About Me" is another Christine song where Lindsey takes a turn. He sings lead on the chorus.

It's gotta' be a new song entirely. I don't think Christine would invite any attention to her 1969 solo album, which she has often said she wished would "go away." Based on what I've read, it appears Christine's new direction is rooted in danceable, funked-up pop, probably similar in style to "Anything Is Possible."

This "Too Far Gone" has nothing to do with the new one! Chris didn't write or co-write the original

I would be very shocked if this had anything to do with the Christine Perfect album.

Yes, Christine doesn't like the album too much. I can't imagine her revisiting it unless probed and Lindsey's sure not the type to say, "Gee, I'd sure like to hear what you did in 1970 before we met. Maybe we can rework it."

Good point!

Wasn't it originally a Bobby Blue Bland song?

This happened completely by accident, but I played Christine Perfect's 1970 together with The Kills version of Dreams. It sounded divine (for a little while, with the pounding drum...then The Kills kind of naturally superseded Christine when her song finished).

Still, Dave, Christine is not averse to doing cover songs. I think both of us know a lot less than people would like to believe.

They sound great together when they collaborate. "Steal Your Heart Away" is a more recent collabo (on just the vocals). Christine's rich harmonies at the end of the song really complete the song.

I clicked on your username and on your page there was a link to this site with Dave Mason and Mick Fleetwood Blues Band dates. So I just assumed things! Sorry! Very idiotic on my part.

It's not the same song:

Too Far Gone

Gone Too Far

What happened to reason and critical thinking? Amazing how misinformation goes viral. Wrong assumptions immediately become fact!

I feel like a fool. Sorry guys! I hadn't meant to say this was the song on the new album, only meant to point out that the title is the same. This had me wondering...but by no means did I think this was definitely on the new album. It was really just a guess. I quite like the song, I'm not sure why Christine doesn't. It's luxurious. Gorgeous. She should be very proud of her 27 year old self for those stellar vocals (and keys?).

No one considered it a fact. Also, no one was asserting that Too Far Gone and Gone Too Far were the same song, so not sure why you mentioned those two in your post.
