I think it would be real fun for us ledges to pick the 17 song tracklist for Stevie's new YouTube album. And then see how close our picks are to the final track listing. I realize there's at least 2 other similar threads but this thread will have a point system so we can actually get an actual list going.
Rules: list your ten favorite Stevie demos (or outtake or unreleased finished song). Your number one will receive ten points your number two nine points and so on. Ill leave this thread open until june 1st, then add up the points and obviously the top 17 songs will be on our version of this album. Hopefully Stevie knows us well enough that at least most of the top 10 are on there.
Also, if we could pleas leave this thread strictly for our lists so it's not too cluttered. Don't discuss each others lists, don't comment on how badly lindsey wouldve ruined that song, or reply that you'll make a list only when Stevie sts foot in a studio with the rest of fleetwood Mac. Save all that for the other threads, and keep this one just to lists.

God, it's really hard to narrow it down to 10. But here goes...
1. Blue Water
2. Watch Devil
3. Night Gallery
4. China Doll
5. Sanctuary
6. Spinning Wheels (Christian)
7. Impossible Task
8. Forsaken Love

I almost put "Lady From The Mountain" on this list, just because I think Stevie should (nay, MUST) record a proper version of this someday...but with the recording of "Moonlight" on the last record, (which I still enjoy) I doubt this will ever happen...and Boo!
Great thread idea, Hawkeye!!! :)

10. I Call You Missing
I love the witchy vibe on “I Call You Missing” and think that’s how “Running Through The Garden” should have been produced.
Choosing only ten demos was difficult so I must also mention the likes of “Night Gallery” (this would make a better title than 24 Karat Gold) and “Mirror Mirror”. I know the latter was recorded and released as a b-side, but I love the 1992 re-recording and think Dave could progress this even further.
Sorcerer999, I wonder if there is a version of “Moonlight” that contains the “so go with her” crazy build-up that was in the original “Lady From The Mountain”? My only criticism of “Moonlight” was that it didn’t exploit what was the best part of the demo versions.

EDIT: I didn't realize the songs needed to be in order of best to least, so I've re-arranged them to be that way.
10 Favorites...pretty much.
She Loves Him Still
Forsaken Love
Forest of the Black Roses
Blue Water
All The King's Horses
Castaway
The Dealer
Chanel Chanel
Sanctuary
Jimmy Come Back
These three are no longer unreleased, but I'm not entirely loving the way they turned out...and hope that someday Stevie releases older demo or outtake versions on expanded remasters.
Love Is Like A River - Too many backing vocals, too many "hey hey's", the guitar is tacky. It doesn't retain the slightly vindictive, angsty energy of the Rock A Little outtake.
Thousand Days - the version recorded for Street Angel sort of...drones onward to nowhere.
Running Through The Garden - I love her SYW vocals, but not entirely happy with the instrumentation. It lacks the cocaine fueled urgency and intensity of the Rock A Little outtakes.
Not written by Stevie - but I would love to have her versions released.
Tied Up In Promises
Call On Me For Magic - Such great vocals.

I bet there is. On the IYD documentary, during the part where Stevie is talking about how important Sharon and Lori have always been to her, there is a snippit played of the chorus, "Then go with her...etc" up to the "Burning..." part. So it seems like it was maybe recorded for "Moonlight". Maybe as an acapella opener or bridge or something that they decided to scrap. You're absolutely right, though. It IS the best part of the demo.
I just think they should re-record is as the regular "Lady From The Mountain" song that was presented in the original demo. I know they could make it it's own "stand alone" track, a part from "Moonlight", except of course for the melody/lyrics of the first and second verse. But they still could make it different AND the same (does that make sense?)
Sorry, Hawkeye, for rambling on and going off topic, but I just wanted to answer Phil.

As long as these 3 are on the album, I'm happy :D
Thanks for that Sorcerer999. (I hadn't noticed the snippet because I couldn't bear to watch the IYD documentary in it's entirety.) I had wondered about this because it occurred to me that "Planets Of The Universe" was majorly edited for the TISL album version, with the full length version on the cd single restoring the "take your leave" section. I would love to get a complete version of "Moonlight" if it exists and of course, it should be retitled as either "Lady From The Mountain" or "Strange" - "Moonlight" is simply idiotic.
Apologies to Hawkeye for once again going off topic. :o

I realize that this is more than 10 selections, but the following are my very favorite demos/outtakes that I would LOVE to see recorded & released officially (and I'm sure I missed a few)
All The Beautiful Worlds
At The Fair
She Still Loves Him (or She Loves Him Still)
Forest Of The Black Roses
Maker Of Birds (Three Birds Of Rhiannon)
Forsaken Love
Chanel, Chanel
I Call You Missing
You Like Me (Don't You)
Something Exquisite
Joan Of Arc
The Charmed Ones (City Of Hope)
Belle Fleur
If You Were My Love
The Dealer
Julia
Space Needle
I think we are in for a bunch of surprises of which old "vault" songs they recorded. I'm sure Stevie selected some of her favorites. For instance, I would have never guessed that 24 Karat Gold would have been selected. I never thought it was as well liked a demo as most of her more mentioned demos on the fan boards. The same thought occured to me when they selected "Secret Love" out of nowhere. I liked it, but it was never a favorite demo.

Well it looks like only 18 people "played" this game, although there's still time to get more of your "lists" in before Hawkeye closes this thread and tallies the points. I'm really intrigued to see what the results are. :)
And interestingly, "Starshine" has not made anyone's favorites list in this thread...so far. Not that I'm surprised - "Starshine" always sorta flew under the radar, at least my radar. I've never seen or felt the mad love for it on fan boards or groups as I have for what seem the more obvious demos/outtakes mentioned again & again over the years (Julia, The Dealer, All The Beautiful Worlds, If You Were My Love, She Still Loves Him, The "Rhiannon" songs, etc.) "Starshine" always seemed more like an impromptu studio jam session, that never was completely fleshed out, but more of a groove & idea of a song. It feels incomplete, which underlines the obvious that we've only heard the unfinished outtakes from 1980s Bella Donna sessions. I do appreaciate that unmistakable 70s hammond B3 organ rock n' roll groove that propels the song. I can totally see this being a Enchanted-esque rocker. Ultimatley, I'll love this record if they are going in the direction of more piano & B3 organ arrangements that were the foundation of many songs on both the "Bella Donna" & "Wild Heart" records.
What will be interesting is what Stevie picked out as her favorites vs what we fans perceive as favorites. That, and obviously balancing the record with rockers, because there is a vast amount of fan favorite demos that are basically ballads. Which is why I tend to believe that "The Dealer" aka "Mistress of my Fate" will also make the cut. It's a midtempo rocker, that's a completed song in the tradional verse, chorus, verse, chorus, brigde, chorus - that with some tightening could be a real barn burner Hammond b3 rocker itself.

Funny how tastes differ. When I hear Stevie backed by Hammond Organ or honky tonk piano and belting out the likes of "Enchanted" (or "The Dealer" or "Starshine"), I wonder, often aloud, why I consider myself a fan at all. I think she comes across really gratingly on those numbers. Someone with that voice and that unusual songwriting creativity is wasted on that stuff.

Recently on the Crossroads show Stevie confirmed that went she went solo she wanted to sound as much like a female version of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers as possible so this is the sound that for better or worse that she is mostly sticking to until the end for her solo work.Part of the reason for this was surely to put some distance between her solo career and the more ethereal style of her prime era Fleetwood Mac songs .I agree with you that these are her greatest and most timeless songs with a few exceptions like Edge of Seventeen.

I have always loved, loved, loved her song Cat House Blues. I wonder if Stevie has rediscovered that song on YouTube?
No sure I would want her to re-record it for fear it would be a second-rate version to the first one, much like what happened to Without You. But the circumstances would be a little different: with Dave producing it, and Stevie more invested in the process, he'd probably take it a whole new level.
Does anyone know the circumstances and timeline when she wrote and recorded the demo?

Blue Water is just an okay song. She has much better material than that. But I have to consider that Dave Stewart can likely polish a turd (not implying that Blue Water is one).
You Like Me is a lost gem. It's a rocker, and Stevie would kick it out! Unfortunately, it's not a vault song - but song she wrote that was covered by the Williams Brothers (I have their record!) She probably forgot all about it.

WOW! You really made a valid point here; one I would have never thought of because it's so nuanced.
Hopefully, at the very least, she re-wrote or enhanced the lyrics, because, as is, it's a bunch of nonsense. But this is the price that we finally paid.

I didn't put Starshine on my list here, because of the limit of 10, but it is on my list of hoped for songs in the intial thread about the album. I've loved this song from the first listen - it's those vocals, and the energy. "Playing with fire was....wrong!"
In fact...it was first on my list.
My wish list; and I must say, this would be a dream come true. While I love these old demos, new versions would be absolutely welcome in my collection - it's not like I can't keep listening to the old ones if I like them better! I would really have loved to be looking over her shoulder while Stevie perused these old songs on YouTube - the memories must have prompted hours of reminiscing.

My top 10
Blue Water
I Call You Missing (I know the lyrics have been recycled for Love Is Like A River and Whole Lotta Trouble, but I think ICYM is far superior over both of these. Which is why it bothers me to no end that these two got an official release, ugh  End of rant)

I didn't dare tally any points because I didn't want to step on the toes or take over Hawkeye's awesome thread idea...
...but I was curious as to which songs everybody wants on this record and how many times that a particular song was on our "wish lists", if you will.
Surprisingly, there were 47 individual songs that made this thread, which means that (if she wanted to) Stevie could easily put out "Songs From the Vault" - Parts 2 and 3 in the future. Highly unlikely, though.
"Forest Of The Black Roses" was written down 14 times, followed by "All The Beautiful Worlds" at 12, "Julia" at 11 and "The Dealer" at 10. This, of course, is just going by the number of times they were on our lists, and not with Hawkeye's points system from #1 choice to #10 choice, which we'll get later.
Interestingly enough, "24 Karat Gold" only made 4 people's list. "Starshine" made 1 list.

Recently on the Crossroads show Stevie confirmed that went she went solo she wanted to sound as much like a female version of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers...
Some of the studio sessions that produced Bella Donna included Tom Petty and various Heartbreakers, yet those songs never came to fruition. Sanctuary was one them.

1. Blue Water
I've loved it more than any other unreleased Stevie songs I've ever heard. Well, I also really adore 'Forest of the Black Roses', but 'Blue Water' just leaves them all in the dust. Simple and exquisite.
