I've always liked Belinda. Sad that Kathy Valentine left the group, and it sounds like there was definitely some drama involved. Beauty & the Beat is a great album, but I like Belinda's solo stuff, too. I'd like to get around to reading her book.

Interesting Stevie connection - glad to see BC is a fan.

I knew they had some connections e.g. Rick Nowels, but I didn't know Belinda felt our kinda love!

My six best albums: Go-Go’s lead singer Belinda Carlisle

BELINDA Carlisle, 55, was the American lead singer with the Go-Go’s before branching out on a solo career.

Her hits include I Get Weak and Heaven Is A Place On Earth. Belinda is touring the UK next month. For more information and tickets go to belindacarlisle.tv. Her albums Belinda Carlisle The Collection and Belinda Carlisle The Anthology are out now.

BEACH BOYS: Pet Sounds

(Capitol)

I won this album playing softball in Southern California and it was my first ever record.

I just loved the cover and there are some amazing songs on there, including Wouldn’t It Be Nice and God Only Knows.

LED ZEPPELIN: IV

(Atlantic)

I was too young to see Zeppelin in their heyday but I did see Jimmy Page and Robert Plant.

I met them both separately and Robert was totally larger than life, with this massive head and so nice. Jimmy was soft-spoken, sweet and funny.

FLEETWOOD MAC: Rumours

(WarnerBros)

Everything that Fleetwood Mac have ever done I love.

And I just love, love, love Stevie Nicks. Fleetwood Mac are a part of me on a cellular level but tragically I’ve never seen them live.

STEVIE NICKS AND LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM: Buckingham Nicks

(Import)

I don’t know how I found this album as it is pretty rare but I discovered it in around 1984 and played it over and over.

The cover is absolutely beautiful and they’re both in their prime and the songs are really romantic, really beautiful and really simple.

DEPECHE MODE: Violator

(Sony)

Every single song on this album is genius and Personal Jesus is just… well, for me it is one of the best songs ever.

I saw them for the first time during the tour for this album and was mesmerised.

WALL OF VOODOO: The Index Masters

(Ryko/Rhino)

Wall Of Voodoo were one of the first seminal LA punk bands.

They were way ahead of their time.

At the moment I’m mostly listening to Hindu devotional, Arabic and this lot! It just gets me going.

I thought they go way back, wasn't Belinda at Stevie's wedding in '83?

Kinda makes sense to me. Belinda sounds like Stevie and her career blossomed after. I always thought there was some type of connection.

Belinda states that Rick Knowles wrote Rooms on Fire for Stevie. That is incorrect. The song he wrote for her was Talk To Me.

No, Belindas correct. "Rooms on Fire" was co-written with Rick. Chas Sanford wrote "Talk To Me". Stevie loved "Missing You", which was co-written by Chas (performed by John Waite) and I think she & Jimmy sorta sought him out to write a"hit" for RAL.

You may be confusing Talk To Me with the two other songs Rick co-wrote on RAL: "I Can't Wait" -which sorta always reminded me of a darker "Heaven Is A PLace On Earth" (recorded a year later with Belinda) and "If I Were You".

Lindsey also co-wrote one song on Belinda's debut solo album in 1986, the song was Since Your Gone - http://www.fleetwoodmac-uk.com/stillgoinginsane/albums/guests.html#S

Wonder how that came about?

When she was doing interviews about it, she was really vague about Lindsey and I think she didn't actually know what song he co-wrote (or maybe who he even was, because she confused it with a song co-written with Gregg Alexander.

Interviewer: Although the song isn’t on Icon, I’m curious what it was like to be able to sing a song co-written by Lindsey Buckingham (“Since You’ve Gone”)?

BC: Oh, well, I mean, you can imagine. [Laughs.] What can I say? Actually, I’ve started adding that song back into my live set, and it’s an amazing song. And I don’t know if you knew it, but Gregg Alexander of the New Radicals was also a co-writer on that, and he’s super talented, too. That song is amazing. That song is kind of one of those lost gems, actually.
