Well... This will be interesting. This is transcribed by the way, I managed to record our conversation, so everything Mick says is real. I'm working on uploading my recording to Mediafire as soon as I figure out how.

Anyways. Here you go!

(Me) "So what's going on in Nashville?"

(Mick) "Uh she's making, uh Stevie's making an album... I think it's gonna be a first for her where she's doing that Nashville thing where they go in and all the musicians just play the songs and get it all done really quickly... were hoping."

(Me) "Well I heard that she's there with Dave and that Christine was there too. Are they doing something together?"

(Mick) "Dave's producing it, uh and she's using the wrecking crew down there, to my knowledge where they all just come in and jam out the songs in two weeks"

...

Sounds like a solo to me, ladies and gentlemen. Thoughts?

Amazing news. Thank you for getting information that all of us back here were craving.

I'm really surprised about a new album. I wonder when it will be released. Stevie won't have a chance to tour on it or promote it, since FM starts rehearsing in July. I suppose she will use interviews about FM to talk about the album and kill two birds with one stone.

Anyway, thanks for doing that eyewitness reporting!

wow, great reporting! thanks so much for going there and managing to ask just the right question!

solo album? hmm. interesting. so:

all of us who thought SN is working on her parts for FM album were wrong!
what does this mean for FM album that other members have been working on since march?

doesn't look like SN is into making an album with FM after all. i think the rest of the band should just put out the album that must be almost finished by now without SN. the sooner the better. perform some new songs on the tour. i guess SN can perform some of her new solo songs, if she's so inclined.

wouldn't it be interesting if SN solo album and FM album came out at about the same time, and before 2014 is over??

will SN want to tour her new solo album at the start of 2015 and abandon FM all together after the already booked leg of the FM tour is over? or will she not tour her album?

Stevie recording a country album instead of going into the studio with the freshly reunited Rumours 5 pretty much completes my worst nightmare scenario. I detest country music with an unhealthy passion, and I badly want a new Mac studio album. I really hope this development turns out not to be true.

Interesting news.... I would love a new Stevie album :) I'm just really hoping she can do this and a FM album, without too much of a delay.

Oh, GOD. I do, too, and I hate the very thought of this. No offense to anyone, but I always view the move from rock and roll to country as an extremely lame and desperate form of selling out. Conversely, I adore songs like "Rose Garden" and "After the Glitter Fades"; and, while I know in my heart that they have a lot of country characteristics, I don't think of them as country songs...especially the cringe-worthy country songs that are out today--the ones that always make me roll my eyes and sigh exasperatedly. :(

This is exactly the sort of thing Stevie should do AFTER a new Mac album and tour. She is the reason I'm not buying tickets to the "reunion".

I like Micks 'we're hoping' comment about the 2 weeks...

This is the last thing I was expecting to hear. Any output from Stevie makes me happy but it just seems very ill timed to me. I'm not entirely surprised, though. IYD was such a positive experience for Stevie. I never thought she was ready to let it and her union with Dave go quite yet. I expected her to work with him again, but not so soon.

Stevie is making a new album and Dave is producing according to Mick. Mick said it last night at Barnes And Nobles

Is this what we want? Not me! I have been waiting 27 Years for a studio album with the Rumours Lineup

Yeah, but maybe a few extra completed tracks could roll over into a Fleetwood Mac release. They had a track or 2 laying around after In Your Dreams. Who knows? Maybe Stevie has been sending Dave stuff for a while that we haven't known about? She's been very quiet in the press lately.

However, Stevie is not the type of artist to "go in and get everything done in 2 weeks" kind of gal. She takes just as much time with studio material as FM does. Knowing the history of how these 5 work, I cannot see her putting out another solo album this fast. This all sounds fishy to me!

If there's any benefit, at least we know she's working on NEW SONGS!

We know how long it takes to get an album out from these guys. Maybe this is just the beginning of recording since they have some down time. I bet The Mac will record and Stevie will too, but they won't come out for a year or so.

Before everyone gets into a tizzy, let's step back, take a breath, and think this through.
1. Although I tend to believe him, Mick is notorius for getting things a little muddled. Stevie doesn't record solo albums this fast, and it's possible she's laying down some basic tracks to work on AFTER the tour (I doubt this).
2. Just because she's recording in Nashville, doesn't mean it is a Country album. Nashville has a diverse music scene. It's more likely that Stevie had planned on going into the studio after the last Mac to record an album (a studio, or her house, in LA). Christine re-joining the Mac put a damper on that. Dave Stewaart simply suggested that he had a studio and crew in Nashville that he knew could fast track recording an album. Stevie has so much faith in Dave that she jumps at the chance to do an album before she ggoes back to the Mac.

Also, I just had a feeling this whole time that Stevie wasn't jumping up and down about Chris returning. Now don't take this the wrong way. I don't think it has anything to do with Chris, but EVERYTHING to do with her having to do another Fleetwood Mac tour. Ever since Say You Will, I feel like Stevie see's Fleetwood mac as kind of a chore. Yes, she seems happy, but not as happy when she's on her own. She likes to be her own boss and do things her way. Even on this last FM leg, she seemed distant. Just like Lindsey, I think that she likes to go in, do her 1 year duty with FM, then go back to Stevieland.

I mean, how long has she been rambling about Chris to the press. YEARS AFTER YEARS! It hasn't ended. And now, she's finally back and its like "oh yeah, welcome back Chris."

I think they're all thrilled that she's back, but I bet Stevie and Lindsey are itching to go back to their own camps.

I agree with all of this. Also, like someone else here said, just because it's in Nashville doesn't mean it's going to be a country album.
My speculation of how this went down: Stevie realized this FM thing will last the next 2 years. She remembered how quickly Dave gets albums done (he did one of his own when he flew to Nashville for a couple weeks during the time IYD was in process of being done.) She decided to quickly take advantage of that and called Dave, and he obliged.
Fleetwood Mac takes a long time to get albums out. Did they ever admit or say there would be a brand new, full album released before the tour started? I don't believe so. "New music" I know they mentioned briefly, so maybe another EP of sorts I was thinking. ( And even that seems far-reaching.)
As far as Stevie full-blown touring behind this, there won't be time. But I bet she'll do a few shows at smaller venues behind it. In fact, Mick was doing a few shows with his little band here in San Diego in June I believe.

As for myself, I couldn't be happier about this!! :)

This is exactly how I feel. I was surprised how muted Stevie's response to Christine's return was, and I really feel that it's going to be Stevie's turn, this time, to put an end to things. We had Lindsey doing it in 87, Chris in 97 and I suspect now Stevie.

I was excited that there might be a new Fleetwood Mac album, but now I'm not sure about what will happen. I don't care about Stevie solo work; it doesn't interest me at all. I'm quite sad that Christine's renewed enthusiasm for making music with the band has coincided with Stevie's disengagement.

Well, no, I don't think it would ever get to the point of Stevie leaving completely. She's no dummy. It's Fleetwood Mac that has renewed her fame decade after decade (The Dance, Glee, American Horror Story). I could never see her doing that.

Also, I think its super cool that Christine is down there hanging out and jamming with them!

At least everyone's reacting calmly to the news... Really though, if we've learned anything over the last couple of years it is that they are almost incapable of releasing new music in a timely manner or properly promoting it. EP is still not a physical release and they couldn't get 4 songs out to the public before touring started despite them being recorded and ready to go. Did anyone think the album would actually come out this year...? It could, anything is possible after all, but that seems very unlikely given their history.

Stevie doing a solo album should be a relief for the anti-Dave Stewart contingent. If it's a country album I won't be too excited, but that isn't necessarily the case. Just glad she's getting back into that mode for whatever purposes. She wouldn't leave the band behind. Anymore that's her cash cow. She may be a little crazy, but she's not an idiot. Didn't Mick say something about it being done quickly, that "we're" hoping for that? Obviously they are counting on her being in the studio with FM so let's not jump to conclusions just yet.

Lindsey has been championing a FM album for years. I don't think he has any preference at all to do a solo album over FM album right now. He even said the last solo album was unexpected and born of necessity due to Stevie's unwillingness to record a FM album. I think he's scratched the solo itch for now.

Well, Dave did the "in and out in 2 weeks" style recording experience for one of his recent albums. I remember him talking about it. So I don't think it's impossible that e convinced Stevie how much of a fun and freeing process that would be.

My guess is that Chris possibly laid down a backing vocal or some keys on one of the tracks. Michelle Branch could have done a guest vocal too. It's not unusual for Stevie to throw in a friend as a backup singer, and it goes along with the nature of the 2 quick group effort recording thing.

What doesn't make sense to me is the timing. Unless Stevie is planning to your for like June and July or something solo to promote this... Or waiting until after FM is through (which will probably be 2015). It just seems bizarre either way.

Also, somewhat shocked Stevie has enough new material for a whole album. Wonder if she has been writing with Dave.

I don't this she is recording a country album she is just using Dave's setup at Blackbird to make this record as efficiently as possible. She probably sees this as her only opportunity to do another solo album (and possibly to work with Dave) before signing on to a two to three year commitment with FM. I think a FM album is still in the works but was pushed back until next year to give Stevie this window of time to do her own thing before she rejoins FM full time (with some solo dates here and there between legs of FM tours).

I don't want to stir the pot here since we still don't know what the situation is regarding FM and what they will be doing in the future but it's possible Stevie want's no part of Mick's 3 year plan...She may have told them that she'll do the fall tour and after that she's taking time off from FM...

I detest country music with an unhealthy passion, and I badly want a new Mac studio album. I really hope this development turns out not to be true.

I always felt Stevie was perfectly suited to sing country music. The first time I heard some of her demos back in 1981 I was ready for this.

We know how long it takes to get an album out from these guys. I bet The Mac will record and Stevie will too, but they won't come out for a year or so.

I tend to agree with this but maybe she feels it is time to do something different. Age has a way of making one feel there is less time to waste.

Before everyone gets into a tizzy, let's step back, take a breath, and think this through.
Just because she's recording in Nashville, doesn't mean it is a Country album. Nashville has a diverse music scene.

Agreed. In the 1980's she recorded Whole Lotta Trouble in Memphis. I think One More Big time Rock And Roll Star might have been recorded there also, but my memory isn't too clear on that one.

Really though, if we've learned anything over the last couple of years it is that they are almost incapable of releasing new music in a timely manner or properly promoting it. The Other Side Of The Mirror took me completely by surprise. I have always been on top of news reports about Stevie's career. FM toured in Europe in 1988 and released a greatest hits album for Christmas, 1988.In May, 1989 it was a friend of mine, a casual Stevie fan who first heard Rooms on Fire on the radio and asked me if I had heard the new SN song. I said there was no new SN song. And she said there was. I figured she had just heard some SN song on the radio that was never a single. But she insisted. So I called the radio station and the DJ confirmed it. An hour later he played it for me and I have that memory of being in my first apartment looking out the window on a beautiful Spring evening at the full moon and hearing ROF for the first time.
I was completely in the dark about that album. What a wonderful surprise that was for me. I know most disagree but I love that album.

Also the song Twisted was recorded and released within a 3 week time period so it could appear on the movie soundtrack. So we never know what this group of people are capable of pulling out of a hat.

but we are also learning, with all the internet / info availability, bits of what is actually happening behind the scenes.

so, with EP, Lindsey told fans he was ready to release it in November and he was hoping it will be out in Jan/Feb, but "band politics" (or some such term) is getting in the way.

now with the FM album, Mick, Christine and Lindsey were pretty clear in the interviews they are all on board, there were pretty legitimate stories, instagram photos and reports they've been working on the album this spring with plans to get it out at the start of the tour. then it all stalled and SN was doing bunch of other stuff. why was she not recording with them before this solo stint? seems that "band politics" is again stepping in.

FM should just release what they have and not wait for band politics to be resolved. guys have been waiting since the end of 2009, and now they have Chris on board. they have an album, why wait?

if Stevie wants to record with them later, it seems - with their prolific phase - that Christine and Lindsey can each easily produce 4 for songs for that album with all 5 FM members. if SN wants to. but to wait for her now, when they are almost done and have been already waiting for her since 2009? why? (did the same thing happen after the Dance with TISL and SYW?? why did it take so long for FM to release SYW when they had most of Lindsey's songs in the can since like mid-90s, before the dance??)

you have an album, release it! SN can release her solo album at the same time, and everybody's happy! :D :p

Dave said he went to Nashville without any new material for his albums (i think it was the last 2 he did this way?), and jammed it out with the musicians there, came up with all songs together and recorded it in a week. SN has poems so they are already further along that DS normally is. they just need to come up with music and record it. sounds like that's the plan, from what Mick said.

i agree that recording in "Music City USA" doesn't immediately imply country album.

Neil Young does the same thing...He will go into the studio with virtually no material writing 1 or 2 new songs a day and has an interesting approach when it come to recording...Neil only likes to play the song a few times just so he knows the parts are right before it's recorded...He does this because he feels that if you work on a song too much it becomes dull and lifeless...
Yes Dave has recorded his last few albums from scratch in a week or two in Nashville...

I'm totally stoked by this news! The idea of having a new Stevie solo album and a new Mac album within a year of each other, is exciting.

Like I said on the Stevie Forum, this could be a contractual obligation and/or the previously proposed album of songs dedicated to her mother. Knowing that the Fleetwood Mac machine is going to be going for the next two years (per Mick's previous statements), this is probably Stevie's only window of time to get this music completed.

now with the FM album, Mick, Christine and Lindsey were pretty clear in the interviews they are all on board, there were pretty legitimate stories, instagram photos and reports they've been working on the album this spring with plans to get it out at the start of the tour.

Elle, you've mentioned this before -- can you please direct me to an article where someone in the band mentioned "before the tour?" I'm not taking you to task or anything, but in that very first week of press announcing Christine's return, Chris was mentioning they had their sights on releasing an album next year/after the tour. I don't once recall reading or hearing anything from Mick, Lindsey or Chris, about releasing an album before they hit the road.

they have an album, why wait?

you have an album, release it!

Do we know for a fact that they have an album ready for release? Nothing they've said has made it sound that way.

I forgot to answer your question....

(did the same thing happen after the Dance with TISL and SYW?? why did it take so long for FM to release SYW when they had most of Lindsey's songs in the can since like mid-90s, before the dance??)

Up until around late 2000, Lindsey's tracks were still intended for his solo album. He hadn't yet committed to giving them over to Fleetwood Mac. Around that time, the then-new regime at Warner Bros seemed less than enthused about Lindsey releasing a solo album -- so out of his desire to get the music heard, Lindsey opted to fold that material into a new Fleetwood Mac album. By that point, Stevie's album ('Trouble In Shangri-La') was near completion, so she had to finish her commitments before re-joining the Mac.

really?? how do you know that?

Common sense tells me that. FM cannot tour without Stevie because she is part of the group. FM cannot tour without Lindsey and now Christine for the same reason. The same with a new album. It cannot be released unless all 3 vocalists have songs on them.

maybe mods can edit the name of your thread to something like "Mick at B&N: SN making solo album in Nashville" to make it absolutely clear?

I'm pretty thrilled. I'm excited about Christine coming out of retirement, but other than that, I'm feeling pretty indifferent about the prospect of new studio content from that group. Will the "magic" and chemistry still be there after all this time? I'm honestly kinda skeptical.

A new Stevie album with Dave Stewart at the helm, on the other hand, is something I'm pretty sure I'll love. And it may benefit from this more spontaneous approach. I've never thought Stevie was an artist who really benefitted from taking her time on things.

Very excited about this. And it looks like a new FM album will happen eventually anyway, and if that exceeds my expectations too, all the better. :)

Now that we know what Stevie is doing this thread should be deleted as there's already a thread about Stevie recording a new record in Nashville in the "Stevie Nicks" section where it belongs...If the moderators choose to merge the "Stevie & Christine in Nashville" thread with the "Stevie Recording A New Album With Dave Stewart Producing In Nashville" thread which is already in the Stevie section and place it in the "Stevie Nicks" section that's up to them...

i agree with you that there should also be a thread about SN recording on SN board, where SN fans who may not be necessarily be FM fans can freely discuss it as a solo project.

however, this thread came as news that were relayed by an FM member to an FM fan and is very relevant for an FM album. the fact that SN fans got the bonus info they are craving is just that - a bonus for you all. :)

Um, just to clear up a few things...

I don't really think that Stevie is recording a new country CD. I was just saying that since Nashville is known for country music, it would be cool, but it was just an off the cuff remark.

I know that Nashville has all types of music. :)

Finally, I also hate what is sometimes called country music now. But when I referred to a country CD, I meant a country CD a la Stevie. I love Rose Garden, and That's Alright, and After the Glitter Fades. I personally would love a whole CD of songs like those. That's what I meant by "country CD". I am not a fan of, for example, Lady Antebellum or Stevie's work with them. I have nothing against them and I'm happy for their success, but their music does nothing for me.

OK, let's all go back to wild speculation. But again, I feel like I need to clarify, I was just speculating and I think that that is all any of us are doing, so I'm taking it as a bit of fun, but nothing serious. What will happen will happen and in the worse case scenario, we get a Fleetwood Mac tour with Christine. That's not a bad worse case scenario. :)

I don't want to stir the pot here since we still don't know what the situation is regarding FM and what they will be doing in the future but it's possible Stevie want's no part of Mick's 3 year plan...She may have told them that she'll do the fall tour and after that she's taking time off from FM...

Well, 2015 isn't 3 years from now. That's next year. By the time they finish even just the first leg of the tour, it will be Dec 2014. Assuming there will be multiple legs, that puts them atleast midway through 2015 before FM wraps it up.. that is, if the tour is all they do.

So Stevie recording right now still really doesn't make sense to me, unless she's planning on releasing it super soon and doing a small early summer tour. Otherwise whatever she's recording is either going to come out while she's doing FM stuff which again, is a bit weird, or it's gonna be shelved till the FM stuff is over... which is a long time for it to just sit there.

Hi Kevin!

I agree that a Stevie country album would be pretty snazballs. However, your gripe against "modern" country music puzzles me a bit. I agree with you that it's sort of a genre with an identity crisis at the moment, but sonically I think what is called Country these days isn't really any different from what Stevie was recording in the 70s and early 80s, so it's interesting to see you make such a distinction.

Anyway, cool though it would be, I don't think Stevie will ever release an album and actually call it "country". But I do think her style will benefit from the spontaneity of the Nashville way of doing things, and I'm really looking forward to hearing the results.

this is only about the album.

Really? I hear people talk all the time about the difference between "old country" and "new country," and not in a positive way. Of course, there are some artists that are getting back to the rootsier side of things... but MUCH of current radio country is basically over-produced pop/rock songs with twang, accents, and obnoxiously redneck lyrics. Which is not at all what Stevie's country-ish songs were like.

I should probably be speaking more generally. Maybe we're saying more or less the same thing, here. I certainly wasn't intending to come accross as hugely in favour of most new country music. Modern country, to me, does sound like 70s-era pop/rock, albeit with a bit more "twang" in the vocal and a bit more "I'm just like you guys" in the lyrical content. Its quality or lack thereof aside, in terms of "sound" it resembles mainstream music of that era, including Stevie's output from back then.

They don't have a recording contract any more, so there would be no stipulation in a non-existing contract that would require Stevie's presence. Stevie's presence might help them shop a new record, but if they know beforehand that she's not going to be a part of it or they know that's a possibility, they can easily contract around that.

I mean, there are some artists whose music sounds more traditional, but most of them sound quite pop, as you say. That's why when people say they hate country music, I don't quite understand it. Look at that song Sheryl Crow did with Kid Rock. There was nothing country about it, yet it got country airplay.

There is no way in hell FM would put out an album at this point without Stevie Nicks's involvement. Christine is back and they can sell it as a reunion album. That doesn't work without all five of them. She will be on the tour and she's recording an album of her own beforehand. So what? She's locked into (what will eventually become) a long ass tour. The FM album will come. It might even come before this new solo album. Even if Lindsey has a finished album with his and Christine's songs that is ready to be pressed he wouldn't be able to play the martyr if he doesn't wait for Stevie to throw in 3 or 4 songs. That's what he does...so I see him waiting as long as it takes. As it should be. FM, despite the alternate incarnations, is mainly about the 5 anymore so that's what we'll get...in the third quarter of 2015.

i think everyone is leaving out of sight the fact that all the press for this band was always based on their internal conflict. so this could fit the bill, perfectly. this is not the band that has built their reputation on peaceful harmony between the band members. they don't even have to make up stuff - see here, and i'm sure everyone else and actual press will have much more bombastic titles and writeups:

http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showpost.php?p=1127527&postcount=34
plus, just think of the press for this?! the articles are basically writing themselves!!

FM is a band that has been thriving on highlighting the conflict between various band members, whether made up or real. this should generate tons of press and speculations!!

lets see, i'm not good at this but how about:

lovefest on stage but fallout in the studio!
inside FM reunion: what is really going on?
Christine came back, but Stevie still just cannot stand to put up with LB in the studio (just watch that "you wouldn't say that to Bob Dylan" clip to see what we mean!), and had to sit the album out!
watch their dynamic on stage where we can see all 5 and compare that to what is coming out on the album!?!
will this band ever find some peace and common language?

Wow this is another twist thrown into the on going soap opera "As The Fleetwood Mac Turns".

If Stevie or even FM release a country album today as a new band. They will be a hit on the country charts.

As todays country music sound like lite rock or rock music.

They probably sound more traditional then the younger artists.

I'm rather prefer the classics then todays rock flavored country tunes.

Linda Ronstadt,Eagles,Exile,Elvis and the list goes on of rock bands convert to country had hits on the country charts over the past 50 plus years.

Now it looks that Stevie has alot of work on the table for her.

PS. What ever happen to the country FM rumours tribute album which rumours were going on back in 2010 or 2011.

Thoughts?

Thanks for passing this information on to us.

But at the end of your recording, is it me or does Mick say: @ 1:37

http://www.mediafire.com/listen/3d08ebqdb0t8rq6/Mick_Barnes_and_Noble.m4a

" If she doesn't, she's not going to finish her album " .

I don't like to speculate, but to me that could mean two things.

1- She only has 2 weeks worth of studio time with Dave and the musicians, based on their schedules.
2- Fleetwood Mac is allowing her an allotted amount of time, solo project finished or not it's time to go.

yeah, i saw that too, in this transcript here http://www.fleetwoodmacnews.com/2014/04/talk-on-town-says-she-might-go-solo.html .

my take would be that she has only certain time allotted to finish her solo album, and it may be a combination of things - time in the studio in Nashville and availability of musicians there seems to definitely be one of them. she may have other stuff on her plate we don't know about too, that is time sensitive. considering FM will not start rehearsing till mid-summer, i wouldn't think her time restraints are FM related, but who knows? Mick did say "we're hoping" (as in FM is hoping) she'll be done very quickly, so who knows.

I'd bet money Stevie releases a single to country radio. Sheryl Crow's latest video was in heavy rotation on CMT. I could see a video from Stevie doing the same. Her performance video with Lady A of "Rhiannon" aired some.

Exactly that's why Stevie didn't seem so thrilled to have Christine back and has been acting weird. I think you are wrong about Lindsey, he's excited about a new FM album. Stevie just went way down on my list...sorry but it's true.

This pretty much sums up my feelings, too. Being a Fleetwood Mac fan has always been an exercise in frustration, disappointment, and anger... but this just takes it to a new level for me. Stevie has lamented Christine's departure for 15 years in the press. Said she'd never record in the Mac again without her. Offered her millions to return to the band. Goes on and on about the loss of girl power, etc. And this is what she does when Christine returns, against all odds. It makes me simultaneously angry and very sad. Christine overcame some huge adversity to rejoin the band, and this is the crap Stevie pulls. :distress:

I keep hoping this is a gag Mick is pulling on the Mac community. Perhaps he's gotten wind of how freaked out we all are by Stevie's not being in the recording studio with the rest of the band right now, so he's having some fun at our expense.

Christine's return and John's cancer, both reasons why I'd think a Mac album would take priority over a solo album. When you compare which venture is safer to delay, because you know you'll have another opportunity to do it later, I think it's the solo album, not the Mac album.

Of course, for me, a Mac album is always going to come first. I support all solo work and solo tours, but if I could have a Mac album and never have another solo album from any of them again, I'd take the Mac album.

With Lindsey, I absolutely adore 2 of his last 3 albums. I once loved UTS too. But if I had to choose between SYW or his 3 solo albums, I'd take SYW, not because it's better than SWS or GOS, but because it has some (if not all) of the FM dynamic I crave. As a fan I want FM first. The band doesn't seem to be a priority for Stevie, which is a choice she can make at this point in her life. She's earned it. But I don't think the others should just wring their hands. If they know they are touring, then they should have new music for at least part of the tour without Stevie, not wait and hope they can all come together to record something after.

But we need to know how soon the 2nd leg they plan is going to follow the first. For instance, we know when they will do Glastonbury in 2015, but how long will they be touring before Glastonbury? I feel the time off between the legs in 2015 is our only true window of opportunity for an FM album. They may say there could be one after the tour, but in reality, I can't believe it will ever happen.

I’m truly surprised at some of the reactions over Stevie’s current recording sessions. As has already been pointed out in one of the related threads, she did state in January her intention to undertake different activities during the following four months. This period is due to expire soon and fits in neatly with what Mick has mentioned about a two week recording session in Nashville. He has also intimated that once she’s finished, she’ll be ready for Mac recording. This is entirely speculative on my part, but I think that’s what he meant when he said “we” (I assume the band) hoped the Nashville project would wrap up after two weeks.
Therefore, if all goes to plan, Stevie should be convening with the band as of next week. If she is armed with songs (or has possibly already submitted some in advance), there is no reason why she couldn’t record her contribution (most probably no more than four tracks) well before tour rehearsals are due to begin later in the year. (Any required vocal harmonies could be laid down in next to no time.)
I would imagine that the Nashville jaunt was planned some time last year, possibly before anyone knew Christine was re-joining the band. In any case, I’m sure Stevie advised the band of her future plans whenever they were devised and everyone was okay with it (not that they would have had any choice in the matter). If that did occur, then it makes perfect sense that Lindsey and Christine would have commenced studio work before Stevie was due to attend.
Mick has commented that Christine is still recording and I would think, possibly with some degree of labour ahead of her. Remember, she and Lindsey crafted their respective Tango songs over the course of a year or so and yet she only entered the studio last month, by her own admission (or Lindsey’s), a little on the rusty side. Stevie could possibly complete her work on the album long before Christine and Lindsey are fully satisfied with their own songs. (I know there are many out there who think Lindsey has finished his songs, but I’m not convinced of this. I bet he could spend another two years toiling away on the finer details.)
I’m curious about whether Dave Stewart did actually state that he was working on a Fleetwood Mac project. There appears to be no confirmation of this and now, in view of Mick’s recent comments, it would seem his involvement extends only to a Stevie solo album. I note that Mick was rather vague and did not directly answer the questions asked of him (ie no confirmation of Christine being in Nashville or contributing to Stevie’s recording sessions). In fact, has there been any verification of Christine being in Nashville and/or participating in Stevie’s project? All I’ve seen is a polaroid of Christine’s (supposed) autograph and hearsay. If we are to believe Mick, she’s currently recording at Village Studios in LA. I wonder what the true course of events has been/will be?

Maybe Christine did go to Nashville, but not to participate in the recordings. Maybe it was a short stay.

You say they would commence studio work before Stevie is "due to attend" which makes it sound like there is a specified time table for this. Lindsey's comments suggest otherwise, at least as far as this being the plan all along. A month ago he clearly didn't know what Stevie's plans for recording with the band were. And Mick also seems unsure about Stevie's plans, but saying he seems unsure is less of a leap than saying she should be in the studio by next week. That's reading into it quite a bit. I'm not sure Mick chose his words so carefully in a spontaneous conversation.

Lindsey is the one who said his songs were already recorded. That's not other people speculating. Whether he wishes to do more work on them other than adding Stevie and Christine...THAT would be speculation.

I'm a little skeptical too. She may be laying down some basic tracks, but for what is unclear. Gossip turns to "facts," as usual!

As I stated in the Stevie forum, I'd rather her save the material for a new Mac album. However, if she's writing tracks for both her solo and a Mac release then I guess that's OK but if the Mac are gonna get her 'leftovers' from this project then I'm gonna be a bit furious. She had no new tracks for the EP and we finally have a real excuse for a new album thanks to Christine and the last time all five were involved in the studio process, we got subpar material from Stevie (I'll excuse Seven Wonders but the others are garbage compared to the majority of her written work).

With all this great Mac news, I just don't really know how I feel about this. I'm not really all that excited for another Stevie solo effort compared to how excited I am for a full-on Mac reunion, mainly I guess because of how Mac-centric this year was turning out to be and now we get this curve ball. However, more Stevie songs is more Stevie songs and I guess I should be grateful? I just hope she brings her A game this time to the band.

What surprised me is Chris is with Stevie in Nashville and its not Mac related or it is .if Stevie is doing her solo work.Is Chris is there to just to keep Stevie company or she is going to help Stevie on her solo stuff.

It would be great to see Chris on Stevie's solo album if thats in the works.

Lindsey was with her on IYD sessions.

This will be very interesting to see how this all will pan out in the next few months or until FM hits the road in the fall.

The songs Lindsey put on EP are the songs Stevie was willing to sing on at that time. I don't remember if she chose which songs or if she told him to choose two. Either way it's still only two. Not including the solo tune. He has a better batting average than that.

I agree with you that it's sort of a genre with an identity crisis at the moment, but sonically I think what is called Country these days isn't really any different from what Stevie was recording in the 70s and early 80s, so it's interesting to see you make such a distinction.

The problem is that much of today's country is formulaic and way too pop-oriented. It's as if a totally new subgenre of country pop has been created but no one has gotten around to categorizing it as such.

Nashville produces the best and the worst of it. Some country music is still being made, but mostly it's uninspired drool.

I don't think those were touted as his "best" songs. Those were supposed to be his most Stevie-centric songs. They were written and presented to appeal to Stevie and make her want to sing on them, not necessarily because he thought they were his best. Now that Christine is back, if he has songs that he likes better, he can include them on the FM album and Christine's songs might be used to fill the different sensibilities he was trying for with the EP selections.

To be more clear, I meant contractually within the context of Fleetwood Mac. Not with a record company. FM is a band of 5 people. Putting an album out of only 4 of them does not consist of a band album. They have no choice but to wait for her. Now I don't know this as fact but I'd bet my bottom dollar it is the case.

And some is folky and poporiented and still beautiful. This one' s called Lindsay. No pun or wrong spelling. And a very simple and touching video.

They don't have a recording contract so there is no contract that says what constitutes a new Fleetwood Mac album. That's what a recording contract is. That would have to be worked out when they sign a contract. I'm sure you're right as it pertains to the upcoming tour. They can't very well go out there without one of the 5. Or whatever the case may be in the contract. But without a recording contract they can do whatever they want. Not that I think they will. Unless Stevie quit I don't think they would put an album out without her.

:laugh::laugh: nice try!

i know that you know that the way you decided to string these words together is completely made up.

yes, SN chose one and LB chose another one among his 8 songs - that were specifically written for an FM album - to release on the EP. with his other songs to follow, once they decide to finally release the whole album. and wait, that was the end of 2012?!

all that said, and as i already stated over and over, i don't care whether SN contributes or not to the FM album, and if she does contribute what that is - leftovers, first picks, anything, nothing. if she contributes nothing i will very probably have many less songs to skip on that album. :p

just get that FM album out.

I agree. It was fine in the 1970's and 80's as crossovers bounce on to the pop charts or pop artist bounce around on the country charts with their songs.

I love southern rock from the 1970's and 80's.I dont know what you call todays country music.

Its a overkill today. They had to do something to make country music survive this day in age.

They fired the banjo pickers ,steel guitar players, washboard players jug players and fiddle players and hired mean rock and roll electric guitar players.LOL...........

I remember when Urban Cowboy was released in 1980 .The pop charts were flooded with tunes from the movie.

I'm more of a solo Stevie fan than I am a solo Lindsey fan, just pointing that out ahead of this. However, Lindsey isn't the one who's been having issues with writing as of late. If working with Dave and that gives her the inspiration and the necessary back-up power to create then that's all the better. However, since Say You Will, Lindsey has had the better track record with producing not just new material, but great new material. I know Stevie has amazing potential, my only concern is that I hope she isn't shafting that potential from the band for her own solo career, especially now that Christine is back after years of complaints over being the only fronting woman in the band and they have the chance to go out on top with great new material instead of fizzling out as a Greatest Hits touring group. Stevie's songs with the Mac are great (although I could leave 2/3 of her Tango contributions), I just want one final great album. Stevie out-did herself with In Your Dreams, it's time Fleetwood Mac out-did themselves and give us one more (possibly final) 5-piece contribution and I'm very much afraid any studio potential will just be 'phoned in' so to speak.

Hello all---

As a fan I want FM first. The band doesn't seem to be a priority for Stevie, which is a choice she can make at this point in her life. She's earned it. But I don't think the others should just wring their hands. If they know they are touring, then they should have new music for at least part of the tour without Stevie, not wait and hope they can all come together to record something after.

Very well said.

Exactly.

If Stevie is, indeed, recording songs for another solo album, then it looks suspiciously like she's riding on the coattails of the reunion tour to promote her own record. And that doesn't pass the smell test.

If Mick is correct, and her goal is to complete the sessions in two weeks, then you factor in time to mix, master, and press CDs, her new record could easily be released by August. I'm not sure if she still has a solo contract or not, but if she goes the DIY route, it could be even sooner. And what better time to have a new record out than when the band is on a much-covered reunion tour?

The thing is...we still have incomplete information. We only know those few comments Mick made and a few Tweets from Dave. My hope is that Mick is wrong or he's smokescreening, and maybe these are just songwriting/demo sessions for the FM record.

If Mick is correct and the sessions are for a new Stevie record, well...that's really disappointing. With the wheels turning on FM projects, I'd have hoped that she would be more focused on the group.

I see what you mean. I don't think that's the case. If they could get a record company to accept the four of them as FM and make a deal with them (which no big label would do, probably), I think John and Mick could brand the foursome as "Fleetwood Mac" if they liked. You know how Stevie always makes the joke that John and Mick could just fire them? Well, obviously they aren't getting fired, but I think there is some truth to that joke, in that John and Mick retain the name.

But for the tour, merchandising, etc., the group is probably defined as specific individuals, for those particular contracts.

I think we can reasonably assume this is not the case. A month ago Lindsey said they didn't know when and how she would record. It's unlikely that was all cleared up and her work complete in a month's time. Mick also seemed unsure of her plans and kinda seemed like he was hoping this Nashville thing wouldn't go longer than 2 weeks. They don't start rehearsing until mid-summer so if they don't need her for recording then he wouldn't care how long it would take her as long as she was ready in July.

I think it's pretty odd for this to have gone on so long when we all know that they're going to wait. They are in it for the maximum return and that means Stevie Nicks on an album of Fleetwood Mac material. Whether we feel they should release whatever they have now or wait, it doesn't matter. :sorry:

I look forward to whatever they release whenever they release it. And as soon as I find a reasonably priced ticket I'll be counting down to my first show with all 5 Rumours era members onstage.

You make a very clear, factual-sounding statement and then completely undermine it with the next sentence. So, what it comes down to is you don't know. The fact is FM has no recording contract, so no one is obliged to do anything under the FM umbrella in the studio at this point.

I wish Lindsey would just walk away and go back to recording his own stuff. The EP was lame anyway. There's no guarantee a full-length CD will be any better, Christine or no Christine.

Stevie's Nashville project may well turn out way more interesting than a FM CD at this point.

The band is washed up creatively, but they know they still can rake in the dough with nostalgia tours. I understand Ted Nugent, REO Speedwagon and Styx do the same thing.

Her songs dragged down SYW, which could have been a masterpiece, but for lame entries like Running Through the Garden and Silver Girl and passable tunes like Smile at You (with that cringe-worthy grammatical atrocity on the chorus) and Illume (which could have been terrific without her shameless narcissism).

I don't claim to know what Stevie's intentions are toward Fleetwood Mac, but I don't think there was ever any intention of having an album out before this tour. Chris stated her demos were very rough; she and Lindsey both said she was rusty; Lindsey can tinker in the studio forever. Last year's tour was supposed to end in Australia in December, and all members no doubt scheduled time for rest and other personal and professional endeavors in the first part of this year. And of course John needs time to recover. I think autumn was the soonest they could be ready to hit the road. Obviously it's easier for some people if everything they dislike about Fleetwood Mac is Stevie's fault.

But if I'm wrong and they really do want an album out in the next couple months, then Elle had it right....it's the fault of everyone BUT Stevie.

The fact that FM has not put out an album since SYW is entirely their own fault...If they wanted to put an album out and Stevie was not participating to the bands satisfaction then they should have given her an ultimatum AND STUCK TO IT!!!! The fact they are still waiting on Stevie all these years later is nobody's fault but their own...Would any other band put off recording for 10 years??? No they would have kicked the offending member to the curb and moved on...

Fleetwood Mac has chosen to be a stale "Greatest Hits" act instead of a band that continues to stay fresh and make new music...

Here's an idea...Mick can record another one of his "ZOO" albums and have Lindsey, Christine and John on all the songs and if he really wanted to make things interesting he could even have a few former band members on a song or two...That could eliminate the problem of recording a "Fleetwood Mac" record without Stevie on it...Since it technically wouldn't be a "Fleetwood Mac" record they could have a few songs that were a bit of a departure from the "Classic " sound without the fans crucifying the band for it...

why are you so worried about Fleetwood Mac without Stevie?

Mick, John, Lindsey and Christine would have much more classic FM sound than Mick, John, Lindsey and Stevie. so nothing to worry about. they can kick Stevie to the curb as you keep suggesting, and still be Fleetwood Mac.

if they decide not to be FM, then i want LB to just go solo.

well, in any case i want LB to just go solo, but... i'll take the next best thing.

I'm not worried in the slightest about a Stevie-less Fleetwood Mac...

As far as I'm concerned the less she has to do with the "soap opera" the better and I would rather have 12-15 solo songs as opposed to 3-5 FM songs where she has to have something the other 4 agree upon...

I was merely suggesting that if they don't use the "FM brand" that they don't have to answer for Stevie not being on a FM record...

Just to clarify when I say "Soap Opera" I mean just that...The "Soap Opera" seems to be the most important thing to the band (after MONEY of course ) and it gets old after a while...

The fans are creating the soap opera more then the band. All the speculating and people that ass u me the worst. I'm way more of a Stevie fan, but I'd much rather prefer a mac album. With Christne!!!
I like Lindsey too and I really like his latest FWM work: my little demon, He outshined Stevie for the 1st time ever on SYW, and loved extended play. Never heard his solo work, but can't wait to hear his songs. Been thinking about getting his solo work lately. Will check it on you tube first

yes! incredibly smart move from Ms Nicks!

while the rest of the FM is stupid enough to still wait for her and not have any new songs to promote on this tour...

as we are talking i have more and more respect for her outsmarting the rest of the band, and less and less respect for them allowing themselves to be fooled again and again.

Well, the point I was trying to imply is that---IF all of this is true and Stevie is recording a solo record---she's looking out for Stevie, not the band.

And I'm not even saying she's wrong for doing that. But if she's not committed to making new FM music with the band, then I wish she'd just quit.

But what I really want is new FM music NOW…not later.

Overall, I prefer Lindsey's music over the other singers in the band, but his music sounds better in the more than capable hands of Mick, John, and Christine. I love OOTC and his other solo records, but I think any of them would have sounded better with the band backing him up [minus Stevie’s backing vocals, which often grate on me].

On the other hand, I don't own any solo work by the other singers. But that doesn't mean I don't like them. If I had to rank my all-time favorite FM tunes, both Stevie and Christine would occupy a couple of spots in the top 10["Landslide," "Hold Me," etc.]. And in some ways, Stevie and Christine are better writers than Lindsey.

But again, their music sounds better with Lindsey, Mick, and John playing it. The band is truly better than the sum of its parts.

So I think anything less than all five of them in the studio with a finished album is a huge let-down for fans. The tour isn't about the fans...it's about money, pure and simple. But if the tour provides them enough marketing buzz and financial security to eventually do an album, then I guess even the tour is worth it. Like it or not, this is probably the most likely scenario. And we have to accept the possibility that we may never get another album from the band.

As a fan, I can't help wanting new music as soon as possible, though. As others have noted all too well, this band has a habit of taking forever to record. I figure the sooner they start working [all of them, that is], the better.

So, yeah, as Elle pointed out, Stevie wins the chess game. I wish the rest of the band would be just as shrewd in its decision-making.

Absolutely. And they should do that now. Enough is enough.

On tour, yes. But he has been outshining Stevie on record for years. You could argue they were even on Rumours, then he completely outshone everyone else on Tusk, then Mirage was a kind of a toss-up, then he outshone everyone again on Tango (bad lyrics and all).

Seriously, I doubt there will be any album. And if there is, the best thing would be for it to be sans Stevie.

Ok, I agree - Silver Girl sucks.

But RTTG, Smile at You and Illume? - Great songs.

And speaking of "narcissism", I believe "Come" hands down takes the cake on that one.

Lindsey was masterful in his work on Tusk - song and production wise - but I wouldn't exactly say Stevie was OUTSHONE. It's not like her songs on that album in particular are poor. Angel? Sisters of the Moon? Beautiful Child? Storms? Sara? I'd say it was a pretty good showing from her as well, to be honest... They excel in different areas and I love them both solo. And together. And in the context of Fleetwood Mac. I like the majority of their songs on SYW also and while there are a few I nearly always skip (I'm looking at you, Silver Girl) and some I think would've been served better by being on GoS (hi, Come), I find it fairly consistently good and balanced in terms of 'who's best' as well, really. I guess I'm easily pleased.

Really, the soap opera people keep referring to in this thread is, at present, VERY fan-generated in many ways. I mean, I get the frustration and irritation right now, I do, but a little breath in between diminishing whatever member you feel annoyed by on any particular day wouldn't do any harm...

I think Say You Will was an unusually strong showing from both artists. Each one contributed a clunker... in Lindsey's case it was What's The World Coming To and for Stevie it was Silver Girl. But otherwise, I think they recorded some great stuff, with a broad range from both songwriters. Lindsey probably recorded his most artistic Mac tunes since Tusk, and Illume was Stevie's most avant garde song since Gold Dust Woman. I may pick on Say You Will for it's lack of continuity & manic nature, but that doesn't mean Stevie & Lindsey contributed poor material by any means.

To me, Tusk was Stevie's peak. I think it contains some of the best songwriting and even singing of her career. Same for Christine. Lindsey did some very interesting experimenting on Tusk, but did he or Chris or Stevie outshine each other on that album? I really don't think so. I think they were all pretty much at their best.

Thinking I'm in the minority here, but I think Stevie killed on Tusk- those songs were her best ever in my mind- Sara, Storms, Beautiful Child, SOTM-sublime. I love Lindsey's solo work in the later years, and I like most of his work on the other FM albums, but he sounds totally unhinged on Tusk and maybe it's because he actually was unhinged, idk. I don't see the attraction to his music on there at all, still sounds crazy to me.

Agreed and disagreed. Stevie was on her definate peak on Tusk, but imo they ALL were. Lindsey's music on Tusk was the best he ever did, unhinged or not, but definately on a creative high. But Christines songs are much more free spirited too. Less poppy, more searching. That makes Tusk FM's real masterpiece. Especially because Mick and John were pushed to experiment as well, but with their experience they glued everything together in a real Fleetwood Mac Sound. NOBODY outshone anybody on that album.

I don't think Tusk was a good album for Christine, relatively speaking, compared to the others. However, I certainly think her songs were a departure from the expected and that's not a bad thing. I mean she needs to have them in her repertoire, to counterbalance Little Lies and Don't Stop, but I feel her tunes were plodding.

Of course, Think About Me is the exception and could have been on any of their other albums and fit in nicely, I think.

I think Honey Hi and Never Forget are in keeping with the overall Tusk theme and I like those. But not the others.

Over & Over, TAM, Never Forget and Brown Eyes are worldclass songs in my book. So I love 4 of the 6 of her songs and I like the other two not so much as individual songs, but as complementary tracks in the whole that is Tusk.

I won't argue with that, especially since I don't like Come. I thought Illume was a wasted opportunity to show real empathy with all the folks affected by the attack. I was in Manhattan on 9/11, where I used to work, and the self-absorption of the song offends me.

Love Stevie but she is only as good as the people she works with. Tom petty and heartbreakers on outside the rain, my favorite song. Her amazing voice and interesting lyrics are only %50 of a song. Still, she does more then most artist. Each FWM members have strengths and weaknesses. They counter balance each other, like Beatles and eagles. That's why they are a great band. Lindsey was great working on the girl's stuff but for some reason his own work doesn't seem to impress too many people. That's too bad. Love all 5 fire flies

It's fun and interesting to speculate, but going purple with rage over nothing more than speculation is silly and a destructive waste of emotional energy.

In other words, let's wait for more hard facts to get all worked up. All this weeping and gnashing of teeth is based upon very little.

To me, though, what's even worse than the premature despair is the premature anger.

Let's condemn people for what they actually do, not what we speculate they maybe might be doing... or maybe might be planning on doing... or maybe might be considering doing at some point.... sigh.

Saving your outrage until you're CERTAIN it's deserved means you spend a lot less time being furious... and that's a good thing!

Last year during Stevie's Q&A she said she had wrote songs for another album. I bet she was planning on going back to solo work after the last FWM tour and had everything planed out. Now all of a sudden Christine wants back in the band (thank God) and the band wants to go back out. I think that threw a wrench in Stevie's plans. She graciously signed on for the tour for Christs sake even if she doesn't contribute anything to a Mac album. I'm positive she will give them something. She's has been juggling solo and Mac for years and years. She won't disappoint. Except if you hate her because she will have songs on the album. Sorry.

Of course it's subjective, and no one is wrong. If you like a song, you like it, and that's that. On SYW, however, I would caution against giving Lindsey too much credit or blame for production on Stevie's songs. I think her songs sound the way they do because of her. She probably straddled the line of leaving them as she wanted them and letting Lindsey do his thing. It was clear in the documentary she had a lot of say in what was going on. Had he just been allowed to do his thing, the result would have been a more cohesive sound, for better or for worse. As it is, the collection of songs is uneven -- and even Lindsey admits that now while at the time he was claiming it was the best material they had done.

I posted a while ago(somewhere) that I got the impression that Stevie, despite how she professed her feelings of sadness when Chris left, was not real thrilled about her return. My take on this is this: Stevie MUST be the one getting all the attention at all times and at all costs. This Christine thing going on is like a thorn in her side and has created a REAL jealously issue. The main attraction in this tour is clearly Chris's return and Stevie knows that all eyes are going to be on Chris and not her. This is very difficult for a diva like Stevie to take. So,back to the question at hand:why would she release a solo record and tour behind it(a very short tour) when she's already supposedly involved with FM and a huge tour?IMO, if she can't get her needed attention onstage with the Mac then by God she'll get it on her own.One way or another she will NOT be ignored (by the fans or the press).

This is a little exaggerated.

To me, her sadness over Christine's absence and her hopefulness of her return has always seemed genuine.

I watched a talk she gave before the premiere of her documentary somewhere, and she went on a lot about wanting to do many more tours of her own. I don't think it has anything to do with attention but that she just truly enjoys being her own self - her own artist. She's said over and over that 3 songs every FM album just isn't enough.

To say this is all about jealousy over Christine's return is a stretch and a little immature quite honestly.

She went 10 years between solo albums and there was only 1 FM in the meantime so I don't think that quote about 3 songs not being enough is still relevant. FM is not a regular thing for her especially not in the studio. So far, as far as we know right now, she hasn't given a song to FM since 2003, aside from "Without You" which was 40 years old and not even intended for FM. Her relative lack of output is all on her at this point.

I highly doubt this is the case...None of what Stevie is doing in Nashville is cheap so for her to pay for time at Blackbird a "Wrecking crew" a producer (She may have also hired another well know producer to co-produce with Dave) and who knows what else and then just hurriedly throw it out there before the FM tour just so she can get some extra attention is ridiculous...
I would be shocked if Stevie had a new record out this year...Most likely she will put it out next year when she can have time to promote and tour the new album properly...

She's been saying that since "Bella Donna" and 35 years ago it was a valid point...She certainly had more than 3 songs on "SYW"...FM's gone 11 years between albums if you don't count "EP" so their relative lack of output is all on them...

My point is it can't be a valid point of argument anymore for her putting out a solo album anymore. She can do that whenever she wants. A FM tour every 3-4 years and never recording is not time consuming enough to keep her from putting a solo album out whenever she wants. She's not putting out solo albums because 3 songs isn't enough. And that's a good point that last time they did do an album she got 9 songs.

Yes, it's been many moons ago that Christine called her the mad songwriter and she needed an outlet for her proficient outpourings. She does solo albums because they fulfill her in ways that FM can't anymore.

If she has 15 songs down and they are still working it could be some of the songs are for FM...

Well, Stevie's last album had what - 15 songs on it? I reckon they'd record at least 18-20 and then pick out of those what makes it on the record.

I love that photo. She's so cute.

What it looks like now we got a recording marathon with Stevie and FM.
I have a great feeling we are going to get a combo of Stevie's and FM album releases in the near future.

Well, if they recorded 15 songs in 12 days or so I must admit: respect! That is the way to go. Record it RAW and unpolished. Sing from the gut, and put it out. I'm looking forward to this one more than I did to IYD.

Yes, that would be my vote. Stevie will be handing over 3-4 of the tracks for the MAC album. My guess would be MAC release in the fall of this year and a solo release in the spring of 2015.

I don't think Stevie will be just "handing over" anything...I'm sure Stevie and Dave will be co-producing and see them through to the end...Stevie and Dave should be bringing the "circus" back to L.A. some time next week since she needs to be back in time to collect her Icon award...

The "15 songs down" tweet restores my faith that she's still enthusiastic about the new Mac project after all. Based on this new info, my guess is that Stevie just felt the need to strike while the iron was hot, creatively speaking, and get everything on tape while the muse was with her. I take back my "Stevie's being a selfish diva" thoughts.

no, no look above, that album's coming out in June 2014 followed by FM 2014/2015 world tour.

LB solo album is coming out in fall 2015, with solo tour simultaneously.

but i could go for buck-mcvie small venues tour with buck's prices in 2015 (i would even chip in a lot more!)... with m&gs with both of them!!

You know, despite all her smiles and the way she was signing autographs in Europe, I don't think Christine really likes fans that much to do a meet and greet.

frankly, if you think about his character traits (introverted, etc), i don't think Lindsey does either. but he did those anyway, i'm still not exactly sure why - but glad he did!!.

i'd love to have a m&g with Chris that would be similar to the ones we had with Lindsey throughout 2012. although at the time i sometimes felt slightly annoyed that from time to time he'd just feel like having a semblance of a regular conversation when all i wanted to discuss was which songs he needs to release or play in concert , now when i think back, especially after Mick's, Lindsey's meet&greets were really really nice, warm, and so normal - however hard that may be to believe.

I think Christine loves her friends, but hates people, in general.

Stevie's been moaning all these years about it not being the same without Christine and now she lets them down?

Or maybe she had all this booked before Christine was brought back all of a sudden - not that it seemed all that sudden, they'd been softening up the ground for her return all year.

Well I guess there was no Lindsey on Behind the Mask and no Christine on Say You Will (yeah OK the title track from the former and Murrow etc from the latter) so we'll just get an album of stuff like Mystified and Ricky and You and I Part II. Oh and Isn't It Midnight.

I'm willing to bet that's the case. One hypothesis could be that Stevie and Dave probably got together sometime late last year and coordinated their schedules to start a new album this year, then Christine's announcement came after.

Or...Christine announced her return, AND THEN Stevie decided to be vindictive and record a new album, just to be a b**ch and stir the drama pot, like "Fleetwood Mac can't do anything without me...so I shall make them wait, because I can." And maniacal laughter followed.

Who knows? But in my opinion, it's the former. Stevie and Dave already made plans before Christine rejoined.

Because you want to think Stevie is good and wouldn't do that. That being something you deem a jerk thing to do. That's really what you're basing it on. And that's fine. But that's not good enough for me. At no point has she publicly committed to doing a FM album (or even mentioned that it's something she'd like to do) when all of the others have AND none of the others , who have commented on their progress in the studio on multiple occasions, have mentioned that they expect her there either. She had also said the first part of her year was open to doing whatever. 2 weeks working on a solo album (since we're assuming she and Dave got together and scheduled this before Christine was in the picture) is not a valid reason to be non-committal with the band who had already been recording for over a month up to the point she scheduled her 2 week session with Dave.
