Hey guys, my name is Marcela and I'm new here!
I just listened to the song "Stevie Baby" and I decided my first thread here should be about it. I don't know that I would write a song like that for someone I had nothing to do with. Anybody know if they're an item or what?
Thanks and nice to meet y'all!!!! :D

There were rumors when Stevie was recording In Your Dreams that they were an item, but I think those turned out to be unsubstantiated. I think those two just have a deep admiration of one another. After all, they've known each other 30 years. And Dave is married to a much younger woman.

Have to point out here that the song, "Stevie Baby" was actually inspired by Tom Petty's drummer, Steve Ferrone who was playing on the In Your Dreams album. :)
Stevie and Dave are just friends. He is married to a lovely lady and they have two daughters. Stevie thanked his wife in her liner notes, "To Anoushka Stewart for her great patience and love over this past year."

Sorry, but that song is all about Stevie Nicks:
'I play to Rock A Little just to reminisce...'
'I am leather, you are lace...'
'High enough to Fall From Grace...'
Now, do I think they were an item? Probably not. This could totally be about the 80's when they hooked up. More likely, it is an ode to their friendship.

Like I said, Steve Ferrone was the original inspiration. I would guess the lyrics were tongue in cheek built around Stevie Nicks.
The original inspiration for this song title was actually Tom Petty's drummer Steve Perrone. Obviously the lyrics are Stevie but someone in the studio, either Perrone himself or Dave kept referring to him as Stevie Baby.
