The more I think about it, there's really not ANY Bob Welch song during his time with Fleetwood Mac that I DON'T like...he was pretty consistently good (although even better on some).

Kind of like Pizza..."there no such thing as BAD pizza, just some are better than others".:D

Hypnotized but A very close second is the unlisted revelation. Bob mick and John all shine.

In every song from MTM I listed, Chris and John sounded really good! Obviously Micks has his part too. Agree with jbrownsjr!

Unfortunately, John didn't play on "Revelation". That was Bob Welch who played bass on that. (Apparently, John was with Dave Walker down the block knocking a few back when the rest of the band recorded "Revelation")

I Didn't Include Revelation For that Reason

That doesn't make sense. A song that Bob played multiple instruments on, you DON'T include? :shrug: I mean I could see it if your poll was "John McVie's best bass lines". {scratches head}

I would have voted for Hypnotised. Honourable mention for Coming Home which has grown on me lately for some reason.

Going a bit off-topic, but there may well have been other songs that Bob played bass on- this from a Q & A of his:

"I played bass on quite a few Mac songs ;"Revalation", and "Keep On Going" come to mind."

http://www.fleetwoodmac.net/penguin/qa/bobwelch_qa2.htm.

I wonder what the other ones were? Can anyone tell? It's a little chink in the Fleetwood-McVie legend when you think about it...

Love this thread!!!

All the above choices are great songs, I also really dig "She's Changing Me" .

Regarding the bass thing - I would not be surprised to hear that Bob played on Silver Heels and Coming Home, very compositional type bass parts -

No disrespect intended to John who is BRILLIANT and capable of anything, those 2 just seem to have a little different feel

This is a tough one I like so many of Bob's songs. If I had to rank the top 3 from the list it would be.
Hypnotized
Emerald Eyes
Future Games

Interesting that emerald eyes has the second most votes and even when not picks its number 2 or 3 on a lot of your lists. Now I agree with the statement that bob didnt contribute one bad song to fleetwood Mac, but compared to the rest I find emerald eyes quite dull. Definitely bottom half of his songs for me and dead last for mystery to me songs. But it's cool so many of you regard it so highly.

And I retract my original response about revelation being a close second to hypnotized. It has surpassed hypnotized. That song along with christines Bad Loser have been my absolute favorite fleetwood Mac songs of any era this past month. I've been addicted to both out of the blue.

I'd have voted for Sentimental Lady.

Today marks thirteen years since we read the sad news about Bob's passing.

2 runner ups:

Coming Home - psychedelic rock - a little taste of the kind of music Bob was going to play immediately after leaving Fleetwood Mac. Bob said the Mac hated his music (post Mac but before French Kiss) so much he felt like they thought his music stained their image immediately after leaving the band. Ha ha

Bermuda Triangle - a little spooky when Bob dove into urban legends. He does it again later with The Ghost of Flight 401

Heroes Are Hard To Find is Fleetwood Mac's most underrated album of all time. But the charts don't lie being it was their highest charting pre-Nicks album.

For his solo stuff I really like Ebony Eyes. Little known fact: Juice Newton sings back up on the song.

Can’t remember what I voted for ( or even if I voted). Probably future games or sentimental lady. But I really love silver heels. Should have been an option.
