So what to call a Stevie fanbase? Or a FM fanbase? I'm thinking of calling us all gypsies;)

We've long called ourselves "chiffonheads"... a spin on Jimmy Buffett's Parrotheads. :)

"Chiffonheads" was not coined as a term of endearment -- and is still often used dismissively or derisively. Many of Stevie's diehards have co-opted the term, though, and made it their own.

Personally, I just call Stevie's fans "wise." ;)

i like being a chiffonhead or a machead or penguinhead
i don't think chiffonhead is offensive at all. even if it was meant to be.
if you say it, other fans understand (or they should :p)

SOTM to me is the collective form of all the chiffonheads :D

Haha. I like that one. And I agree I've seen chiffonheads used both by fans and to more or less make fun off fans. IE- casual fan shows up at Mac concert and sees a group of women dressed as Stevie and rolls their eyes and says "There go the chiffonheads..."

But uh I decided to channel my inner Stevie today to face some tough stuff. Still had the things I was worried about go poorly but I was proudly rocking a long black lacey skirt, boots, and had a chiffon scarf wrapped in my hair and may or may not have been twirling around holding the long tails of my scarf like a shawl. THAT, my friends, is just plain known as being fashionable. ;)

I've used the terms Macite and Maccie myself. I also refer to actively enjoying Mac music or otherwise obsessing as "Mac geeking" and sometimes just plain "Mac-ing".

I was very into the fashion end of the goth scene growing up (less so the music unless Stevie counts. She was definitely my fashion inspiration!) and used to run around stores calling things "Stevie-esque". I just bought a lace shirt today and I guess now I say "That's so Stevie!"

I discuss getting my "Nicks fix" (which is the Stevie version of Mac geeking ;) )

Heck I have actual verbs here if not nouns. Lol.

We could just be "Stevies" or better yet "Stevie's". That "ie" kind of keeps us from adding on a cutesy ending like many of the fan names (and I confess I haven't heard most of the ones in that list used. Gaga has her monsters and Bieber has the Beliebers but haven't seen most of the rest ever used even by big fans...)

Also I must be totally spacing... Wait figured it out- SOTM is Sisters of the Moon. Duh! I have heard that used for sure but never really seen the abbriviation so I kept staring at that. Lol. Can we be Stevie's coven? I mean all the years of "I am not a witch" and then American Horror Story happened so...?

I clearly enjoy playing with words and I'm sure I've at some point created a word for Stevie fans yet I can't think of any. I'm generally too busy Mac geeking or "Stevie-ing". I enjoy turning nouns into verbs a lot. I also book geek and enjoy chocolating, etc. :)

I actually got the idea for this thread because I was thinking of what I would call my own fanbase if I get famous. I really like "A Little Princess" by Frances Hodgson Burnett and one of the recurring themes is that "All girls are princesses." So I kinda want my girlfans to be princesses and the boys knights:angel:

I like the variety.... chiffs/chiffonheads, gypsies (that remain), (street/wise) angels, moonsisters/brothers (of course)

I mean, she's Stevie Nicks!.... she needs a variety of names for her army of fans :D

Jana Anderson just posted on Facebook that some of Stevie's tour crew used to call the back-up singers the Nixie Chicks.

I like to refer to myself as a "fan". What happened to that? Remember when that was a thing? Good times.

;)

But yes, I'm pretty familiar with the "chiffonhead" term. Although in my head I always pronounce it "chif-un-head", which is obviously wrong. But the syllables work better, I think.

I do believe it was Chili D who invented the term Chiffonhead.

I'm definitely going to refer to Petty fans as Pettyphiles from now on.:wavey:

I do believe Elle made up the name Chiffs. This is the term I use since I first saw her type it. Though on FB the ladies refer to me as their Brother of the Moon.

Well, ever since I read her inscription on the back of The Wild Heart record, I always thought it was a shoutout to her fans.

"This music is dedicated to Robin - for her brave, wild heart. And to the gypsies - that remain."
