I was in about row V. It was a brief shout out to his wife/kids in the middle of one of his speeches, can't remember the exacts. I watched him through most of the song, which he spent mostly locked eyes with her as well though I wasn't close up enough to really see that great in terms of emotional content. I was more focused on listening because it was just so beautiful. Energy/emotion wise the show was the most exciting/memorable at least for me since 97 when Christine was with the group. They seemed a little tighter as a band than in the 2009 tour.
a friend brought this up: nobody else at that vegas show heard LB say this - he did not give a shout-out to his family at dec 30th show.
aprilsrain, please know i don't mean any disrespect to you; we all hear some stuff wrong at one time or another. is there any possibility that Mick said something else, slightly different, in Maui?

Christine McVie Rejoins Fleetwood Mac: Official
Articles / News
By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles | January 13, 2014 6:54 PM EST
Christine McVie is back with Fleetwood Mac -- officially.
The band's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, has confirmed to Billboard that McVie has rejoined the band after departing the group in 1998.
Rosenberg says that McVie "has indeed re-joined Fleetwood Mac and we are hoping to make an announcement about a possible tour for the full tilt Macsters some time in 2014."
McVie joined the band in 1970 after marrying the group's bassist, John McVie. She continued on with the group for the next 28 years as a principle songwriter, vocalist and keyboardist.
McVie wrote some of the act's biggest Billboard Hot 100 chart hits, including "Say You Love Me" (No. 11 peak, 1976), "Don't Stop" (No. 3, 1977), "You Make Loving Fun" (No. 9, 1977), "Hold Me" (No. 4, 1982), "Little Lies" (No. 4, 1987) and "Everywhere" (No. 14, 1988).
Fans of Fleetwood Mac have been teased with a possible McVie reunion since last September, when word first broke that McVie was going to rejoin her bandmates for a couple concerts in London. She appeared with the band -- for just one song each night -- on Sept. 25 and 27 at the O2 Arena, to sing "Don't Stop."
(Fleetwood Mac's 2013 tour incidentally, was the 17th biggest tour of 2013, according to Billboard Boxscore, grossing $62 million from 45 shows reported.)
Soon after guesting with the band at the O2, McVie told the Guardian that she would be "delighted" if the band were to "ask" her to play with them again. "But it hasn't happened, so we'll have to wait and see."
When Billboard caught up with Nicks herself, who was promoting her new "In Your Dreams" film and appearance on "American Horror Story: Coven," Nicks said "If Chris wants to come back to the band, I said to her, 'It's your band. I don't really think you have to ask. Because it's your band. McVie. Fleetwood Mac-vie? So, it all depends, Chris, on you. How you feel. Do you want to take this on again?'"
Finally, over the last weekend, the band's Mick Fleetwood reportedly told a crowd at a Maui, Hawaii show that McVie had indeed rejoined the group.
Undoubtedly, devotees of Fleetwood Mac are hoping for a new album from the famed "Rumours"-era lineup of the band, with singer/songwriters Nicks, McVie and Lindsey Buckingham. Together, the three were the principle writers of five studio albums from the group: "Fleetwood Mac" (released in 1975), "Rumours" (1977), "Tusk" (1979), "Mirage" (1982) and "Tango In the Night" (1987).
Following McVie's departure, Fleetwood Mac has released one new studio set, 2003's "Say You Will." The band also issued a four-song EP, "Extended Play," in 2013.

A short blog entry just made by British music journalist and writer David Hepworth which I enjoyed. Tis a strong chain, indeed.
http://whatsheonaboutnow.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/what-evelyn-waugh-might-have-said-about.html
What Evelyn Waugh (might have) said about rock band reunions
Christine McVie is rejoining Fleetwood Mac, forty four years after she first joined them and sixteen years after she left. This must be some kind of record. I'm reminded of the Father Brown line that Evelyn Waugh uses in "Brideshead Revisited".
Father Brown said something like 'I caught him' (the thief) 'with an unseen hook and an invisible line which is long enough to let him wander to the ends of the world and still to bring him back with a twitch upon the thread.'
Think he was talking about the Catholic church. It applies to rock bands too.

Tim Jonze, theguardian.com, Christine McVie Is Back in Mac
January 13, 2014
When Mick Fleetwood announced to a Hawaii audience that Christine McVie would be rejoining Fleetwood Mac on a permanent basis, you couldn't really argue with his assertion that it was the "the worst kept secret there is". During an interview in December 2013, McVie surprised me by saying she would be "very delighted" to reclaim her place in the group she left in 1998. Not long after, Steve Nicks responded by telling Billboard that McVie "didn't need to ask". You hardly needed Hercule Poirot's mobile number to work out what "woman wanting to rejoin a band" plus "band happy to let woman rejoin band" might equal.
Still, the fact that McVie, who turned 70 last year, wants to renounce a hermetic life in a mansion in Kent, which seemed to consist largely of cooking, gardening and looking after dogs, in favour of stepping back on the road with one of the best and most dysfunctional bands of all time is cause for celebration.
It's pointless to talk about a "best" member of Fleetwood Mac, for without any of them the band are significantly depleted. But McVie was always my personal favourite. Compared to the other two songwriters – Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham – her songs had a simplicity and clarity to them. This was partly down to the fact her music stemmed from the blues she played growing up: Don't Stop and Say You Love Me, the band's first top 40 hit with the classic 1970s lineup, both get their momentum from what McVie terms "that left-hand boogie bass thing".
But it was also down to her lyrics. Unlike Buckingham's dark explorations of his soul or Nick's balancing act between gritty relationship strife and mystical flights of fancy, McVie's songs often bristled with optimism, at least on the surface. Don't Stop, written off the back of an imploding marriage, is basically a message from McVie to her ex (bassist John McVie) telling him that everything will be fine in the future. Her songs showed how giddy she could become with love: a new partner would "make loving fun", she'd want to be with them Everywhere and she'd tingle "right from my head to my toes". Such cheery vibes seem astonishing when you consider how well the Mac traded in turmoil.
They never became twee, either, because that smokey falsetto of hers contained more than a trace of melancholy. At times it sang not just of love, but of an insecurity that came with falling in love: an overwhelming and potentially dangerous experience in several of McVie's songs.
This is certainly the case in two of my favourite McVie compositions. Over My Head, from the band's self-titled first album with Buckingham and Nicks, talks of a guy who can take her to paradise one minute, then be "cold as ice" the next. "I'm over my head," she concludes, "but it sure feels nice."
Honey Hi, from Tusk, their experimental followup to Rumours, begins innocently enough ("Honey, honey, honey / Who could be sweeter than you?") but again McVie never seems fully secure, pleading: "Don't take the love light away." Her innate ability to write hits was matched with a charming inability to analyse them. "I think I'm just good with hooks," she told me, which is rather like Heston Blumenthal revealing he can work a toaster unaided.
It is, of course, hard to say how McVie will adjust to life back with Fleetwood Mac (bacchanalian drug use might be a thing of the past, but a heavy touring schedule and long gigs most certainly aren't) – although she has at least stayed out of the limelight for long enough to know that this is what she wants. And there can be no doubt as to whether her vocal chords are still up to it: from the very first note during her guest appearance with the band at London's O2 back in September, McVie sounded as sweet and pure as the day she joined the band back in 1970.
That short performance will have reminded many Fleetwood Mac fans what they've been missing since McVie left. It's a testament to the sheer song-power of the band that they could travel the globe in 2009, playing three-hour sets while virtually ignoring McVie's canon, and you still wanted to hear more. But on their current tour, you would be forgiven for feeling that the shows were in need of an additional sprinkling of magic. Now the band have got their original songbird back, they won't need to worry about that.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty embarrassing for them. I think the Internet has made this generation of journalists lazy, sad to say.
Is it laziness though? Or is it a genuine fear of being the last place people go to for information? The burden of requiring "official" confirmation can slow one down considerably, and no professional journalist wants to report things everyone already knows. However , I agree that if they're not going to wait for official sources before reporting things, there's nothing left to distinguish them from fan gossip sites and social media, and then what is their role really?
I'm reminded of so many news programs where presenters now spend a considerable amount of time reading tweets and other internet sources on air. Things that anyone could just do in their living room themselves. It's a weird world.

SOME OF you already know this, but for those who don’t — Fleetwood Mac fans, a rabidly loyal bunch — are over the moon that one of the original members of the group is back. I do mean keyboardist and singer, Christine McVie. She left the band in 1998, citing, among other factors, that she missed her homeland, England.
There were the various complicated relationships between most of the band members, which were often addressed in their songs. It was great gossip fodder, even if you weren’t a fan.
Fleetwood Mac cancelled some dates last year because of John McVie’s cancer diagnosis. (He is Christine’s ex. They remain amiable.) His prognosis looks good, and doctor’s orders demand the whole group of originals get out there and wow their audience!
Stevie Nicks says: "When we saw Christine in London and discussed the possibility of her re-joining, I told her: 'Christine, don't be ridiculous. You're always a member of Fleetwood Mac. You're Christine McVie!!'"
