"Stevie Nicks... She's everything" NOT a disappointment!
Lady Gaga was interviewed on the Howard Stern radio program yesterday. During the interview on his radio program one of the audience questions that Howard asked was "Have you ever met a hero that was a dick to you, someone you were excited to meet but were disappointed after the fact" coupled with the question "Would she ever do an unplugged album" Lady Gaga talks about meeting Stevie and how she was not a disappointment at all. Listen in below at the 1:08:40 mark... The Stevie bit comes in about 1:10.

I really don't care what Lady "GAG"a thinks about Stevie :sorry:
Isn't it about time her "15 minutes of fame" was up already...

I loved this interview and it was so nice to hear her say nice things about Stevie. I also really enjoyed her honesty. I never guessed that she had filler and botox and smoked so much pot and everything else -ha!

I like her as a person. She seems to have good, progressive values. I don't care for her as an artist because everything about her is borrowed from artists from the past 25 years. I have to laugh when people call her original and an "envelope-pusher." These people have short memories.

Yet she herself does not claim to be original, quite the contrary. She admits to borrowing all kinds of stuff from all kinds of places.
It's funny, I listened to almost the entire interview last night and I found it very interesting and refreshing. Her candor reminded me a lot of Stevie. I am curious to know how the whole meeting began. Did Gaga want to meet Stevie or vice versa or neither...perhaps just a chance thing. But it is clear that Gaga is quite fond of Stevie, you could hear it in her voice!

I think it was on 60 minutes where she basically said that she studied things that famous peopel did to get and stay famous, and then she contrived her entire career around those elements.
I like Gaga. I like her songs more than I like *her*. I do think she's strayed a bit recently from her own message, but it is undeniable that she can write a good song, and damn, she's fun to dance to.
As far as comments about her being 'original', they all come from people who are too young to recognize that it's all been done before. Or, in other words, in today's crop of chart-topping stars, she's very original. Over time...not so much.

I like her stances on some things. Personally, I love her song Born this Way(lyrically) because I am the way I am because this is me and not a choice. Her style of music isn't really my cup of tea. though.

I think it was just by chance at a Grammy after-party a few years back. Stevie has talked about it before. I remember Stevie saying something to the effect of Gaga telling her she lived by the mantra: "What would Stevie do?"

I downloaded ArtPop last night and will listen this weekend. Her acoustic rendition of "Dope" on the Howard Stern show completely blew my mind!!!!
I did not buy "Born This Way" because I didn't like any of the singles from it. I do like Applause a lot so I'll see how the rest of the record sounds.

Born this Way made me gag and ARTPOP is no better. And I loved her first 2. She sounds spent already. To me there's no attention to her um......music. and she's more concerned with "shocking" image. Shame cause she IS a talented musician.

I love this thread! I have been a fan since she first came out in 2008. In fact my friends and I were so upset because the first time she came to Kansas City we weren't old enough to get into the bar she was playing at!
I am hooked on the Born This Way cd, Black Jesus , rocks
Love BJ+AF! My favorite was Marry The Night, very closely followed by Judas. I think the only song I DIDN'T care for was Bad Kids.

Born this Way made me gag
 I don't know how you can say that. Might I suggest that you go back and take another listen to Marry The Night, Americano, You and I and Edge of Glory at the very least - I don't know how anyone can say these are bad songs. If I didn't work at such a quiet place I'd crank Marry The Night up *real* loud right now and dance around my cubicle.

Edge of Glory just sounded so generic to me...but I will revisit Born This Way. Who knows, I may love it now!

Ok.....I've got to stop making such rash critques so fast. Artpop is growing on me. I realize there is sooooooooo much of it the bad tracks just stick out.
You take out.
Jewels n Drugs
Swine
Donatella
Fashion
Mary Jane Holland.
You take those out and you do, IMO, have a much stronger album. I've been just absorbing the record.......there really are some good tunes. Aura, G.U.Y, ARTPOP, dope Gypsy, Applause. But the mid-point of this album.......i maintain is a dog.

Agreed on these! I don't care for Dope, or Aura. I actually really like Donatella! I don't like the song Manicure really, but I think if she wants to make money she could release it as a single. It's very Top 40/Katy Perry IMO.

I find it interesting that Stevie loves people like Gaga and Katy Perry, when her music has never fit the pop template that they use. To me, someone like Martha Wainwright is more in the Stevie "tradition" as a distinctive and original singer/songwriter.
I'd also love to hear Stevie work with PJ Harvey, the way Marianne Faithfull did on Before the Poison.

some of us have a range of taste I also like Slip Knot , Iron Maiden, Loretta Lynn , and Bulgarian pop singer Azis , Some people only listen to singers who sound like her .... and some people are obsessed to the point where everything else sucks ?

I am just surprised that you know him. He performs a mixture of pop, local folk and oriental, a music style that became extremely popular in Eastern Europe during the 90's and is often referred as turbo-folk. It's rare to see someone outside this part of Europe that likes it since it's pretty much limited to a few countries that share similarities in traditional folk music. Its a music style that even people who live here are very polarized about. Personally not my cup of tea, but from what I've heard, Azis can sing. It's great to see such variety in music tastes.

Hi Olive. I didn't mean to sound critical or dismissive of people who make different music than Stevie. Much as I love her, variety is good. From liking Stevie's music I discovered Indie and alternative when I'd read reviews that praised the lyrics. From Peter Green era Mac I discovered the early blues musos that influenced them.

I just listened to the whole thing, and I was surprised how nice and sweet she was. I don't know why, but she does seem like a nice and honest person to me. Never been a fan of her work, and I do agree that unlike many others, she does posses a reasonable amount of talent. What bugs me about her the most is her constantly repeating she is a musical genius in the rang of Mozart, while most of her work is a border line plagiarism of crappy 90's euro-dance and disco, but I was really blown away by her live performance of Dope on Stern. BTW, this is not the first time she mentioned Stevie in an interview. I remember watching an interview awhile ago where she said she travels everywhere, even on a plain with fully equipped hair, makeup, clothes, shoes and a tea cup, and how Jimmy Iovine told her she reminds him of Stevie, because she used to do the same thing.

I have a new found respect for Lady Gaga. I've never been a big fan of her pop music and unflattering teeny tiny knickers, but this acoustic version is just amazing. I found a couple of other similar performances on YouTube. I don't think I'll ever like her pop music, but at least I can appreciate her talent now. I keep coming back here to watch this, and I've also had this song stuck in my head for the last few days ;)

Have you guys seen her just do piano performances. She's great, IMO. But her albums latly are BEYOND frustrating. ARTPOP grew on me. But still it's awesome when it's just her on piano.

I agree. After her last album I thought I was done with her but I'm back to loving her again. I really like ArtPop, I think because I'm not comparing it to any of her previous work, like most of the reviewers and music critics are currently doing. Maybe I'm detached enough from her that her new work sounds very refreshing. But yes, her solo at the piano is a powerful thing to behold. That's what really brought me back. I bought the album after I heard her on Stern.
