International premieres and stars add glitz to BIFF
Australian premieres, an international star and a rock goddess are set to wow Brisbane audiences with tonight’s program launch for the 2013 Brisbane International Film Festival (BIFF) program.
Arts Minister Ian Walker said BIFF would host the Australian premiere of international production The Railway Man starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth on 13 November.
“The Railway Man is a great way to start BIFF – it was filmed locally in Ipswich and around the Gold Coast and tells the story a former British Army officer captured by Japanese forces in World War Two, and sent to a POW camp on the Thai-Burma Railway,” Mr Walker said.
“Music fans will also be delighted to see American rock royalty Stevie Nicks attend the Australian premiere of her documentary In Your Dreams, which gives an inside look at the recording of her 2011 album of the same name.”

I live in Brisbane and so far have not seen or heard it advertised anywhere. I follow Brisbane International Film Festival on social media & even they have been quiet about it.
I think also the 3pm start makes it difficult for those who work office hours to attend. The tickets are selling though. At least 130 seats have sold so far.

Sorry. I shouldn't have stated this as a fact. I am only surmising.
I bought my ticket on Tuesday and got seat 40. A few of my friends then said that they wanted to go too. We have all purchased our tickets separately. Ticket purchased Wednesday - seat 70. 2 tickets purchased together early yesterday - seats 115 & 116. Then the ticket purchased last night was seat 131.
I couldn't find a seating plan either. I go to Palace Cinemas frequently and have never been allocated a seat. The theatres are not massive either so it should be quite intimate & FUN!

my ticket doesn't have a seat number on it  i want front row
i wasn't looking for an IYD seating plan ... just a regular one. like at our cinemas it's reserved seating  so they show the map
at least everyone wont have to line up at like lunchtime for a good seat (which i may have been willing to do ;)

No, they're not seat numbers but rather TICKET numbers. The row and seat boxes are empty. Just says GA seating. I am pretty sure everyone will be lining up nice and early to get a good seat. No daylight savings here so the sun is up super early...
Palace never have allocated seating. Just buy your ticket & sit where you please. I have been to BIFF screenings before and never had an allocated seat.
There is a small write up about IYD and Stevie being at the cinema in The Courier Mail today.

I think we just have to hold on to hope that this is still on. It is something Stevie's doing as Stevie, after all, and unless John's illness has literally only come up in the last couple of days, it would seem poor form from Stevie, her people and the BIFF if this was announced last week only to be cancelled in the next few days.

I don't see Stevie canceling this. She always vacations to Australia and talks about how she writes a lot while she is there. My bet is that she will take a vacation in Australia since she will be there for the IYD premiere and probably write like she has never written before. This may very well end up being the catalyst for a new solo album.

I can see her cancelling, for fear of the Q&A being too problematic. She would be faced with questions about John's health, which she can't answer out of respect for his privacy, or speculations about FM's future, which would be equally uncomfortable for her.

they could easily issue a disclaimer before hand saying NO Qs abt JM/FM
or take 1/2 an hour out after the session to screen Qs and give people #s
yep, i could take over running it and it will be fine

Sorry guy's the IYD screening is still taking place, but Stevie will not be attending in person.
Stevie Nicks at #BIFF to present "In Your Dreams" called off... Film screening goes ahead
Update: Stevie Nicks: In Your Dreams special screening 13 Nov 13
Since the cancellation announcement of Fleetwood Mac’s tour, we understand everyone must be anxious to find out whether Stevie Nicks is still attending BIFF. Whilst we were really sorry to hear about John McVie and would like to wish him a speedy recovery, we did however extend an invitation to Stevie Nicks to present her film Stevie Nicks: In Your Dreams as planned. We were hoping we could make this happen and Stevie would love to have been with us however, despite our best endeavours we are unable to proceed. Stevie is writing a personal message to BIFF which we will share with you.
The screening of Stevie Nicks: In Your Dreams on Wednesday 13 November will take place as scheduled and the ticket price has now been adjusted to $16 (standard price for weekday day time session).
We would like to thank you for your patience in waiting for this update, and we apologize for any inconvenience. Ticketek will be in touch today with all patrons who purchased tickets (via email, phone or SMS message) to arrange either a full refund or an exchange of ticket at adjusted price (partial refund). We encourage everyone to now purchase tickets at the standard price, and join us to share Stevie’s creative journey on screen.
The BIFF Team x
One more blow for Australian fans.... So sorry to hear Stevie can't make it... If you can, go see the film, it's terrific!
Tickets available for November 13th and November 15th at BIFF

I ended up going to the screening today - my mum hadn't seen the doc before, but really got into IYD after Stevie toured here in 2011. She loved the film, and I found it really enjoyable to see again too.
I guess there was something nice about seeing it with a group of strangers - there were many laughs (Stevie: 'Don't give up your day job'), and maybe some tears in the Soldier's Angel and New Orleans segments. A lady on the way back to the car commented on how fabulous it was, and that she didn't realise how funny Stevie is.
We were all also given a copy of the following note from Stevie. Whilst reading the note aloud, I and the guy a couple of rows behind me both stumbled over 'harmonic convergence'. Oh Stevie
Sadly though, it was incredibly hard not to imagine how much more amazing it would have been to have her there in person :(

I know it is no comfort what so ever. And nothing would ever compare to seeing Stevie in person and having to chance to ask her questions. At least they thought of "something" though...even if it was nothing compared to the "real deal" of having her there.
I am thinking...with all the technology available today, why couldn't they at least have arranged for her to be with you via satellite so that the audience could have gotten the chance to ask their questions even though she wouldn't have been in the same room????

Even though I had already seen the documentary , I really, really enjoyed seeing it on the big screen. We were sitting toward the back of the theatre and I loved hearing everyone's reactions - people were really getting into it. Lots & lots of laughter! I was surprised by the number of people there and even bumped into someone I knew (had no idea she was a SN fan!)
I went with a group of friends, none of whom are Stevie or FM fans. One of them asked me before the movie if Lindsey was male or female. They all loved it & have now bought the CD. Their general comments were that she appeared to be very authentic, warm & determined and the fact that she had the hand written letter there for everyone blew them away!
