In all the interviews I've heard with Stevie I never heard anything said about Billy Burnette or Rick Vito or even that incarnation of Fleetwood Mac.Does anyone know if they did/did not get along or did they just get the boot? Thanks all!

maybe no-one ever asked? It's always "couples breaking up....cocaine...wild 70s sex".
Do interviewers even know they were still going in the 80s/90s?

I seem to recall her talking about how Rick would come over to her house (or maybe it was the opposite way around) and hang out and stuff and how great that was.

Good point Cactusjack-"cross pollenation"per Gayle probably was a more interesting topic for interviewers. And was Stevie even sober enough to remember that incarnation-just thought of that...

Stevie seems to have been great friends with Rick. She's talked about him plenty.

Yes, she said Lindsey would never come to her house and write songs like Rick did, because they'd argue about the past. And something about Lindsey wanting to see her hang for 10 years and then die or something along those lines and Rick didn't. But also she said Rick took her side over the whole Silver Springs thing and that was supposedly one of the reasons he left the band.

Yeah, why would Rick care about that? I doubt he'd throw away a $weet gig in Fleetwood Mac over a song that was recorded a decade before his inclusion into the band. Oh, Stevie... your ego knows no bounds.
Not to derail the thread too much, by why did Rick leave the band? I always assumed he wanted to go back to being his own artist.
Rick Vito's departure seems forever shrouded in mystery - perhaps Mick will discuss this in his upcoming book?
I'm curious about how Rick and Stevie wrote songs together given that she said they met at her house (or his, whichever it was). That would imply they actually constructed the songs together, rather than her writing lyrics to accompany instrumentals he had already composed. If this were the case, obviously it pre-dates "the first time she ever actually co-wrote a song with someone" (ie Dave Stewart). Maybe a case of more **** spewing straight out of our girl's mouth?
That said, it's quite plausible that when Rick visited, they had other forms of 'sweet music' on their minds... After all, we are talking about Miss Slutty of the century!! The fact that Rick was married would not have constrained her at all.

Street Angel. And Stevie guested on Rick's solo album, King of Hearts.

This can be found in the "Biographies" section...
"In early 1991 Rick Vito left Fleetwood Mac for personal reasons, and started his solo career. His first solo album King of Hearts was released in 1992 by Modern Records (Stevie's label), and featured Stevie Nicks on the duet "Desiree" and on backing vocals on "Intuition". Rick was featured the same year on three new songs for the Fleetwood Mac box set Fleetwood Mac 25 years -- The Chain. In 1994 Rick Vito toured as lead guitarist with Stevie Nicks in support for her Street Angel solo album."

You're rightPhil. As much as I love her,I think she loves hearing herself talk so much that the words just rattle off her tongue and she does't think about what she's saying or what she said before.Or maybe she's so used to people not really paying attention to what she says(Lindsey) that it doesn't even matter. But for a short girl like herself she can sure tell some TALL tales.I think she's quite amusing at times!!

Stevie's exact quote (from a BBC interview in 1989)....
"They [Billy & Rick] come up to my house, and they work with me [on music]. And, um, you see that is something that Lindsey and I never did, because he never wanted to be that close to me...anymore. Because we'd always get back on the subject of why we broke up 12 years ago. "
Notice that she didn't say they write songs together. Only that they worked on music together. One can argue that it's a matter of semantics, but there is a difference between writing songs and working on them (the latter of which could be something as simple as rehearsing it, fine-tuning it before going into the studio, or -- like she's always done with Sharon & Lori -- working out the harmonies).

And in fairness, I think the fact that he was with her on tour after leaving FM did make me believe that maybe he told her that he was upset about Silver Springs too.

Here's some comments about them first joining:
"What really happened is everybody just really started to smile. We didn't really talk about music that much. We didn't talk about Fleetwood Mac that much. We talked about our lives and we talked about our friendship and we talked about how nice it would be to be able to be in a band. And the next day we went into rehearsal and at the end of that rehearsal, I think Mick's words were, 'The lads are in.'"
"The first rehearsal was probably the best rehearsal, amazingly enough. They've all been good, but the first one, it was like I knew instantly that when we step onto the big stage that this is going to be wonderful. The neatest thing about this whole thing is it sounds really great in this small rehearsal room. It sounds like Fleetwood Mac. If you walk outside and listen from the parking lot the first thing you would say is -- it's not like you would say, 'Ah, I don't hear Lindsey.' What you hear is Fleetwood Mac."
And this is what I was thinking of what she said about Lindsey:
He feels I broke up our team. So, for that, in his mind, I should be tortured for days and then killed.

OH NO!!!
You just brought back memories of the Blue Denim video.
I had undergone electroshock therapy to remove that from
my brain. Thanks a lot fairydust75.

Sorry:sorry:
I hope you don't have nightmares tonight.

I saw them in like '94 on the Street Angel tour. Mama was a little fragile and I'm sure Rick's support was a comfort and was greatly appreciated.
Oh...but...wait her "drummer" friend was providing comfort, warmth and future musical inspiration all while watching the cars go by...Or maybe that was a different tour.
