I hope for those that are attending the damage will have been rectified and everything will be ok.

I'm heading to London for mine, but nearly chose the Glasgow one.

For the first time ever I have front row tickets. I will be very annoyed if this cancels the concert, all the UK shows are sold out. Possibly head over to Amsterdam but that is not ideal! This will my seventh time and I was so happy to queue and get great seats as all the other shows that I have seen were in seats really far from the stage. Fingers crossed they will finish the venue on time.

It's typical, isn't it? They were already running behind schedule. Hopefully they will sort it out.

Wow I hope they fix it up in time for the show.Thank goodness nobody got killed there .

As Hurricane Sandy ripped through the east coast here in the states last year .I thought they will be no more Jones Beach no more. They cleaned up the mess and FM will be playing there in a couple of weeks.

elle
06-30-2013, 09:44 PM
so some friends of mine asked Mick at the meet&greet today whether FM has some kind of back-up plan in case Hydro doesn't open on time.

this is what they reported back:

"We asked Mick and he had no idea. The question scared him. He didn't know the venue wasn't ready or had any issues."

hope he remembers and has someone maybe follow up on this...

Greedy fans cashing in on Glasgow gig by flogging Fleetwood Mac tickets for £1100 30 Sep 2013 00:01

TICKETS for next week's gig at the Hydro are being sold online for up to 10 times their face value.

GREEDY fans are raking in huge profits by selling their tickets for next week’s Fleetwood Mac gig in Glasgow at almost 10 times the price.

The band, celebrating the 36th anniversary of the release of their classic album Rumours, play the new SSE Hydro venue on Thursday.

The face value for tickets is £45-£125 but some fans are offering theirs for sale online at up to £1000 – more than it costs to see the band play Vegas later this year.

On Ticketmaster site Get Me In, which describes itself as a safe and secure marketplace for sales, Row Z tickets were available yesterday for £1100.

Over at Stub Hub, run by eBay, £125 tickets had been bid up to £343.86, while on Viagogo, tickets were priced between £249.99 and £699.

Meanwhile, Viagogo also had tickets to see Stevie Nicks and Co at the famed MGM Grand Garden Arena Hotel in Las Vegas from only £91.44.

Kirsten McAlonan, communications manager at the Hydro, said: “It’s nice to be compared to Vegas but, unfortunately, secondary ticketing is something we have no control over.

“Our best suggestion to fans is to make sure that they register with www.thehydro.com for access to our presale tickets for all upcoming gigs.”

Go your own way — Ticket agency leaves Fleetwood Mac fans disappointed

By Alan Wilson, 2 October 2013 3.05pm.

A Dundee mother has spoken out angrily after two tickets she bought for Thursday night’s Fleetwood Mac concert at Glasgow’s Hydro failed to materialise.

Gwen Louden paid three times the face value from secondary ticket agency Seatwave, which claimed to give a 100% guarantee of securing tickets for customers.

Despite paying more than £360 for two tickets in February, they still had not turned up by last Thursday so Gwen called the company and was sent an email which told her the tickets would arrive soon.

When they still had not turned up on Monday, she called again only to be told: “Sorry, the seller didn’t get back to us.”

Gwen said: “All he could say was they would cancel the sale and refund the money.

“I told him ‘That’s not on. I paid for four tickets and there were four of us going through. We have to get hotel rooms and train tickets booked and now you’re telling me we’re not getting the tickets’?

“I told them it was cruel to do that to people — we’re devastated. He said they are just an intermediary, but that isn’t the point. Their email said not to worry, the tickets would be sent out.

“Now two of my pals are left without tickets and I feel awful for them. We’ve all been looking forward to it since February.

“I usually go on to official selling sites like Ticketmaster but they didn’t have any left and we checked out Seatwave.

“It seemed to be a reputable agent and we knew we had to pay over the odds but to say they’re 100% guaranteed is just a lie.

“The manager told me tonight she was sorry they had fallen short of their own high standards and they were trying to source more tickets for us but I don’t hold out any hope at all. I would advise anybody thinking about buying tickets through Seatwave not to do it.”

Seatwave were asked for a comment but had not done so at time of going to press.

Tickets for Thursday night’s gig have been selling for four figures as fans rush to see the legendary group in Glasgow’s new concert venue.

Gig review from Herald Scotland - Fleetwood Mac, SSE Hydro, Glasgow, October 3, 2013

http://www.heraldscotland.com/arts-ents/music/gig-review-fleetwood-mac-sse-hydro-glasgow.1380836530

Four Stars

MICK Fleetwood starts it off. Looking for all the world like a gnomish 1920s saloon barman, mouth working wildly in surprise or delight or both, there it is: a crash, a thud and Second Hand News. Opening the two-and-a-half hour set comes the whirlwind trio of Second Hand News, The Chain - John McVie delighting on the bass - and Dreams.

The whirlwind continues for the next hour, Rumours classics followed by a dabble around Tusk and Sisters of the Moon, performed for the first time in 33 years. Slipped in, almost so as you wouldn't notice, is new song Sad Angel.

Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham rotate round and out like cuckoos from the eponymous clocks, singing Landslide, a poingancy added by the truth of the line "I'm getting older", and Big Love before a neat and delicate Never Going Back Again.

The rotating is interspersed by an intimate bonhomie between the two who hold hands, hug and share coy little glances. She tells a lengthy tale of the band forming that culminates in the double entendre (from Buckingham to Fleetwood): "If you take me, you gotta take my girlfriend too."

Buckingham is slick in leather jacket and jeans; Nicks rambles charmingly before songs, claiming she has a glut of anecdotes to excise before travelling to Continental Europe where her tales of times gone by will be not understood.

Every track is a reminder of just how lithe and skillful Buckingham is on the guitar; Nicks's voice still powerful, although some of the top notes elude her; McVie and Fleetwood - dressed identically, bar Fleetwood's scarlet shoes - own their respective parts. The four come together most powerfully on Gold Dust Woman.

Occasionally the songs, and not only Nicks, ramble. There is a little midway slump, a little self-indulgence. But the whole excels in a way that only such a band with such a backstory can.

Gig review: Fleetwood Mac, Glasgow

Rod Stewart’s mini-residency has dominated a packed opening week at the Hydro but this visit from American MOR legends Fleetwood Mac was no less prestigious – and a touch more consistent in terms of musical quality.

Fleetwood Mac - SSE Hydro, Glasgow

* * * *

It was difficult to argue with the opening salvo of classics from the mega-selling Rumours album, which has lately had the dubious distinction of a Glee makeover. The veteran four-piece delivered decidedly non-jazz hands renditions of Second Hand News and The Chain, still a sublime showcase of their natural harmonies, John McVie’s magnificent rumbling bass and Lindsey Buckingham’s blistering guitar playing, followed by Stevie Nicks’ musically smooth yet lyrically barbed Dreams.

Their quartet of tracks from Tusk was a mixed bag – Not That Funny was not that loveable – but it was Mick Fleetwood’s time to shine on the irresistible tribal throb of the title track.

Much of the performance played on the chemistry between former partners Nicks, our lady of the gothic shawls, and Buckingham, the birthday boy who was treated to an impromptu rendition of Happy Birthday by the crowd (“Don’t remind me,” he deadpanned) and some projectile undies.

The pair walked onstage hand-in-hand, slow-danced briefly to Sara and tried to outdo each other with the overwrought melodrama of Gold Dust Woman and I’m So Afraid. Buckingham’s Sad Angel bustled along with more momentum than melody, while Nicks described the winsome Without You as “the nicest thing I ever wrote about he and I”. But it was the bitter songs they wrote about each other – Go Your Own Way and Don’t Stop – and the intimate, healing finale of Say Goodbye which won the day.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a review mixing up Stevie and Lindsey like Rolling Stone (I think?) did back in the 70s when they first joined. Obviously fact checking is a lost art.

Fleetwood Mac star Lindsey Buckingham shares birthday celebrations with sell-out Glasgow crowd
4 Oct 2013 11:33

THE singer's legendary band enjoy a memorable gig with a thrilling set in-front of 13,000 fans at the newly-opened Hydro.

FLEETWOOD Mac main man Lindsey Buckingham had a birthday party to remember last night in front of 13,000 fans at a sold-out Hydro.

The legendary band produced a thrilling set that covered their entire 46-year career. And they were sensational from start to finish.

The heavy desert rock of The Chain, with perfect harmonies and Lindsey’s six-string fireworks, was an early highlight.

He was the star of the show, with his presence and outrageous guitar skills.

But Stevie Nicks was a joy to watch, and listen to, throughout. Whether on fragile ballads (Without You) or full-on rockers (Gold Dust Woman) she still has one of the finest voices in music.

Anthems like Go Your Own Way and Rhiannon went down a storm, but Lindsay’s solo acoustic version of Big Love really stood out too. Even now, when Fleetwood Mac are on form like this, no one can touch them.

This is hilarious for a number of reasons.

But I'm currently really amused with Stevie trying to be generous in her story-telling and asking Lindsey to tell the part where he told her in front of 15,000 people that Mick wanting him to play guitar was the real attraction... but he comes in at the "you've gotta take my girlfriend too!" part instead.

They're never on the same page, are they?

"A good point of entry, so to speak."

So, does she say that she and Lindsey both probably still think that BN is the best album that they've ever done? She said something after she said they thought it was the best album they'd ever done, but I'm not entirely sure of her words.

Extreme Listening Mode, October 4, 2013

http://extremelisteningmode.com/2013/10/04/fleetwood-mac-glasgow-hydro/

That the story of Fleetwood Mac is a movie begging to be made is not in question. Absconding guitar players, cocaine addictions, mental breakdowns, obsessive creative geniuses, intraband/extra-marital affairs, violence, excess, recrimination, huge success and massive hanging clacker balls seem to be elements that perfectly fit the silver screen. And what’s more, that’s only some of the tale. It really has been a unique, astonishing journey. But while the legend has played a part in tempting 12,000 people to Glasgow’s newest venue, it’s what we’re actually here to witness that’s really important. Are Fleetwood Mac purely about the past or do they have anything to offer in the present?

Those au fait with the Glasgow music scene will be aware of The Hydro’s unloved and much-maligned older brother, the SECC. It appears that the new venue was designed as a sort of antidote, with the starting place being a list of the many faults of the original and the simple instruction to ‘fix this’. The new bowl-shaped building is more attractive, though perhaps a tad garishly lit in the colours of the electricity supplier who sponsor it. Facilities are excellent, with plenty of bars, toilets and food outlets (who even seem to serve edible food). The seats are comfortable and roomy. It’s almost revolutionary.

The new surroundings seem to have amplified the big-match feel that a superstar band brings to any city. And Fleetwood Mac are certainly that, one of the 70s and 80s rock Royal Family who can genuinely claim to be better known than many Prime Ministers. When they emerge to blast into the perfect pop of ‘Second Hand News’, the place goes slightly mental. That qualifier is removed when the snaking opening guitar lines of ‘The Chain’ begin to wind out, and by the chorus the crowd are in danger of losing their ****. By the bass breakdown, they have. The sound is pristine and the venue seems to have been built with acoustics as well as aesthetics in mind.

Stevie Nicks takes over for ‘Dreams’, and it occurs that her role as an icon in modern music is criminally underplayed. The amount of women in the audience – of all ages – bedecked in lacy shawls or trademark hats is a visual clue, but then there’s the reverence with which the song is received. It’s like a rock version of ‘I Will Survive’ to Glasgow’s female populace. And, as the various songs she’s written through the years appear, you’re reminded that Nicks is indeed a songwriter of rare distinction; she was always so much more than just the pretty girl who sang a bit.

That said, what a performer she actually is. Mesmeric, charismatic and with stage presence born of, well, a star, she’s endlessly entertaining. And then there’s the voice. Modern singers should learn from it. No stupid runs, no overdoing notes for the sake of it. She’s vulnerable one second and like Janis Joplin’s raspier sister the next. And she’s just so damn believeable.

She’s not alone, though. Lindsay Buckingham is simply one of the best rock guitarists of all time. His tour de force is a magnificent run-through of ‘Big Love’, solo and acoustic with his fingers a blur. Nicks then rejoins him for ‘Landslide’, and it’s then that the back story comes into play. She wrote this song ABOUT HIM. Those lines of utter heartbreak and sad-eyed devastation are ABOUT HIM. And she’s singing them, on stage, TO HIM and he’s playing back to her knowing that those words are ABOUT HIM! There are 12,000 people there in rapt silence, but there are only two locked in that moment. It’s that power, that legacy that elevates this from brilliant song to something transcendent.

The only bum note in the whole set, musically, is letting ‘Gold Dust Woman’ run on a bit too long, but highlights just keep coming – ‘Gypsy’, ‘Rhiannon’, ‘Sara’, the mentally wonderful ‘Tusk’. Mick Fleetwood does treat us to a drum solo, which one would have hoped stayed in the 70s along with winters of discontent and BBC paedophilia, but you can forgive the mad old bastard as he’s so obviously in love with what he does. And it must be said, his old codger double act with John McVie sometimes hides the fact that they still provide a rhythm section that’s as tight as two coats of paint. We get ‘Go Your Own Way’ (which sees the crowd lose any remaining ****) before they play ‘Don’t Stop’. It’s a fitting way to end because, for everyone who paid to be here tonight, it’s exactly how they feel.

So, Fleetwood Mac in 2013; they might just have some more scenes for that movie yet. Absolutely stunning.

Air 3 Radio Sunday, 13 October 2013 21:23 Lauren Marriott
http://www.air3radio.com/music/444-music--fleetwood-mac--review.html

Marking their 17th tour since their first in 1970, Fleetwood Mac were back in Scotland last night at the stunning new Glasgow Hydro. The concert was a complete sell out with 13,000 fans in attendance.

Anthems like Go Your Own Way and Rhiannon went down a storm, but Lindsay’s solo acoustic version of Big Love really stood out too. The man is a Rock God! Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks shared conversation with crowd and kept momentum going thought the 2 and a half hour set. It was also Lindsey Buckingham’s 63rd birthday yesterday, so the crowd joined in a chorus of Happy Birthday, to which as slightly bashful Buckingham replied “Don’t remind me”. Even at the ripe old age of 63, the front man still has great stage presence, and the bras thrown on stage during the performance that he still has a “ladies man” persona.

Mick Fleetwood took to the stage for an epic drum solo which the crowd adored, this was shortly followed by a touching speech in which he thanked not only the individual band members, but supporting band members and backing singers. The only downside to the concert was that the band didn’t play classics Little Lies and Songbird, but this was easy to overlook as they smashed every other song they played.

Brought back by the crowd for not one, but 2 encores, 46 years into their career it is clear that Fleetwood Mac show no signs of slowing just yet. The band played new song Sad Angel mid-set, and with new material coming out soon these musical legends are still a force to be reckoned with

^Ha! You fans brought them back for those two encores, baby. Because if you hadn't clapped, they just would have returned to their hotels.

Fleetwood Mac - The Hydro, Glasgow, Thu 3 Oct 2013(5 stars)

Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood and co prove that 'the Mac is back' with effortless arena show

Fleetwood Mac version 2K13 look genuinely fresh; revitalised so much in their relative absence that casually jumping into ‘The Chain’ two songs in looks effortless. And they’re just warming up. Though ‘Everywhere’ is among notable absentees in tonight’s gargantuan set, in favour of a few new gems from April’s Extended Play EP, our returning legends still serve up a high concentration of stone cold classics, from ‘Rhiannon’, ‘Tusk’ and ‘Gold Dust Woman’ to the blissfully upbeat ‘Don’t Stop’ and the immortal ‘Go Your Own Way’, with resident front woman/ethereal spirit guide Stevie Nicks sashaying and cavorting with the crowd throughout.

With Mick Fleetwood on top, eccentric form behind the kit, thumping the skins like he’s fresh out of high school, and John McVie manning the helm on rhythmic duties, the band sound virtually unstoppable as they drive their runaway arena-filling freight train right into the hearts of twelve thousand screaming and adoring fans. But it’s perhaps the back to back ‘solo’ set pieces of 'Big Love' – in which the still remarkably baby-faced Lindsey Buckingham commands the enormous stage with his frantic fingerpicking and searing howls – and Stevie Nicks’ trademark tearjerker 'Landslide' that truly reduce The Hydro to a bittersweet emotional mess. Endingly aptly on 'Say Goodbye', the band close one door and gently nudge open another, with enough hints at future plans to assure us – especially those suffering from painful sell-outs and ticket hikes – that this is not just a flying visit. Or in Buckingham’s own words ‘the Mac is back’. For good.

baby-faced? man has remarkable energy and young looking body, but describing his face as that young looking would never occur to me. although judging by the last sentence, maybe the reviewer is actually talking about Mick?

Describing Mick as baby-faced would occur to me even less. Even in 1967 Mick didn't look baby-faced.

Maybe Lindsey has just been going around stealing Mick's speeches these days and trying to take that red top hat for himself.

then again, at one recent show (Zurich? not sure), Mick did Lindsey's part of the WY intro, so you never know.

Review: Fleetwood Mac

Legendary rockers return to Glasgow with a five-star performance

Gillian Thomson Wednesday, 16 October, 2013 | 06:30

The buzz of conversation grew, as the crowd, taking their seats, waited in anticipation for the return of Fleetwood Mac at The Hydro.

The iconic outfit returned to Glasgow almost four years after their last visit, and proved to be as incredible as ever. Without further ado they launch into 'Second Hand News', closely followed by classic songs 'The Chain' and 'Dreams'.

Fleetwood Mac seem just as excited as the audience, with Lindsey Buckingham jumping around the stage like a man half his age.

Coincidentally, it just happens to be Lindsey's 64th birthday, and the crowd takes the chance to sing 'Happy Birthday', to which he responds with "don't remind me".

Stevie Nicks is also on top form, and her captivating stage presence makes the show a joy to watch. Her voice perfectly harmonious with Lindsey's, she moves around the stage, at times spinning around on the spot, but never standing still for a second.

As well as old songs, the band treats the audience to something new, debuting a song 'Sad Angel', much to the crowd's delight.

At one point, an appreciating fan throws her underwear onstage, leading an amused Mick Fleetwood to say "I feel like Rod Stewart up here, goodness me."

One of the highlights of the evening is undoubtedly the performances of 'Go Your Own Way' and 'Don't Stop', where the thousands of people singing along almost drown out the band. Gazing around and seeing so many people gathered together for the music is an enchanting experience, and the musicians take full advantage of the electric atmosphere in Glasgow's newest music venue.

Fleetwood Mac are on top form and make the evening a night to remember; the audience fully aware of how much they are appreciated by the band, and by the reaction of the audience, the feeling is entirely mutual.

Other Glasgow gig highlights By Rachael Fulton on Wednesday 1 January 2014

When the band weren't jetting off to gig across the world, opening iconic music arenas and putting their heads together over a Tree Bursts In Snow follow-up, they managed to squeeze in a few gigs as regular punters.

For Joe, his favourite gigs of 2013 involved catching Texan rockers White Denim at Broadcast and fulfilling his lifelong dream of seeing Fleetwood Mac.

"Fleetwood Mac were one of the first bands I listened to as a child, listening to The Chain," said Joe.

"I'd skip to the Formula 1 bass line on my dad’s record player and turn up the headphones really loud.

"I then discovered the rest of that classic album, and the rest of their albums, so it was amazing to see them at The Hydro, albeit without Christine McVie.

"The stage show was fairly minimal – compared to Peter Gabriel – but they can still play like hell and it was really cool to see them just going for it after so long."
