FLEETWOOD Mac epitomises the survival spirit.
"We know how lucky we are," drummer Mick Fleetwood says. "But we're very serious about what we do. That's why were still here.
Of course, the back story, of break ups, make ups, and their insatiable drink and drug habits are as famous as the band itself.
Even Fleetwood admits it's a blessing they're still writing, recording, performing and touring stronger than ever.
But as Fleetwood reveals a list of rituals and superstitions he follows when the band tours, it's a miracle anybody made it to the stage.
"We are all creatures of habit," Fleetwood says.
"I still do this thing where, if I'm in the toilet, I'll open the door a certain way, and flush it three times, and, if I haven't done it, I'll go back and do it.

"It used to be really bad, though," he says, laughing. "I would have, on my way to the stage, little things I'd left there.
The love lives of the band members have long fascinated fans as seen on this 1977 cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
"There was a penny which I'd pick up in the spot where I'd left it, and put in my pocket as I walked to the stage.
"But if any of that was upset or the coin disappeared, I would think: 'I'm cursed!' We were very superstitious."
Fleetwood says the drill also included drug use backstage - sometimes while they performed.
"In the old days, there was a definite routine of how we juggled our substances. We didn't like to walk on stage completely ... you know," he says, sheepishly.
"Did we? Yes. But not often. During the show, and after the show, is when the trouble started."
But Fleetwood's most powerful superstition while on the road is deeply personal.
"I won't get on a plane unless I have this," he says reaching into a supple leather bag, "my father's flying scarf."
His father was a Royal Air Force fighter pilot. Fleetwood keeps the scarf wrapped in a pouch.
"This puppy has been all over the world," Fleetwood says, handling the cargo delicately.
"I never get on a flight without it. The band wouldn't like to get on the plane if I didn't have dad's flying scarf. It keeps us safe."
An hour later, as superstars Fleetwood Mac perform to another full house on a 40-date sell-out US tour, it's clear they have another good luck charm: each other.
Fleetwood Mac is still at the height of its powers.
Stevie Nicks' voice is in career-best shape on hits including Dreams and Landslide, while Lindsey Buckingham, a freakish guitarist, sings raw and intense on the standout, Big Love.
The engine room of Fleetwood and bassist John McVie keeps the Mac hits steady, powering up on Tusk and The Chain.
The latter song vows: "Chain s us together."
Backstage, before the show, Buckingham says those links are sometimes tenuous because of the strong personalities in the band.
"I'm not saying we don't belong in a band together," he says.
"I am saying we are an unlikely group of people to have come together. You see it on paper and ask: `Well, how's this gonna work?'
"Our tastes are quite disparate and yet it is that cast of characters, that very push-pull dynamic that creates parts larger than the sum of it."
Last month, Buckingham told Rolling Stone Magazine he wishes Fleetwood Mac would follow The Eagles model of doing business.
Asked to explain his comments, Buckingham told news.com: "(The Eagles) reputation is such that they don't get along.
"But somehow they're able to cut through that, do the business they're able to do, get done what they need to as a group, and see their way clear to the common objective.
"That seems difficult for Fleetwood Mac.
"This band is something you might liken to a political minefield," he says quietly. "It needs to be navigated."
For now, the Mac are steering their way through good times. Buckingham wrote songs on their new EP, Extended Play, and they aim to make an album.
There are also plans to release a 40th anniversary version of Buckingham Nicks, the 1973 album Stevie and Lindsey made before joining Fleetwood Mac.
Indeed, the ghosts of their past love affair play out warmly in the new show, during a soft embrace in Sara, and touching fingertips in Landslide.
The audience is still enchanted by Stevie and Lindsey's long faded romance.
"By the time we got to Rumours," Buckingham says, "Stevie had both feet out the door. She left me.
"It was difficult to be the guy who had to go back to the studio, produce her songs, and make the choice to do the right thing for her professionally, even though it was painful to be around her personally.
"But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
"It's sweet that Stevie and I are somehow acknowledging that from a distance. I think people are quite intrigued by that, as we are too."
Today, Buckingham is happily married with three children. Nicks is still single.
"The thing about my dynamic with Stevie become more the professional side of it," Buckingham says.
"Not to say we don't feel a great deal for each other, because it does play out in a very authentic way. But we are playing roles."
Today, 20-or-so years since they kicked their bad habits, those character parts don't include rock star cliches.
"We all know what we did - it's all public knowledge. A lot of cocaine and booze," Fleetwood says.
"But you have to put it in perspective. War stories become very romantic and they are fun to tell, but I certainly try to preface it by saying it's not recommended.
"You also don't want to aggrandise it too much and, yet, in truth, you have to tell the truth.
"We had a lot of great times, no doubt," he says.
"It certainly didn't seem to stunt the creative process. But it ended up becoming a drain on all of us. Then it became counter-productive.
"We are, quite frankly, fortunate to have prevailed," Fleetwood says. "We're lucky, we're grateful and we're here."

AMERICAN supergroup Fleetwood Mac will tour Australia in November.
Their summer run Down Under follows their 40-date sell-out US tour which industry experts say has eclipsed the Rolling Stones 50th anniversary shows.
Fleetwood Mac will perform in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks told The Sunday Times: "I'm very excited for the Australian tour and can't wait to get there."
The band has strong ties to Australia.
Nicks and drummer Mick Fleetwood almost moved here.
Nicks thought the Outback might help beat her cocaine habit.
"It was either check into the Betty Ford clinic, or go to Australia and hang out in the desert with my close friend and martial expert Bob Jones and sweat it out," she said. "I rang Bob one night and he said, 'No worries, come over'.
But I ended up getting a spot at Betty Ford."
Fleetwood bought a mansion in Mittagong, NSW.
"I fell in love with Australia on one of the tours, found a place to live, and those days were incredibly crazy," he said.
"It fell apart over a five or six years period, so I didn't end up truly living there. I gave up my green card and fully intended to do this whole thing. In truth, it was too much too soon."
Fleetwood said the home, called Wensleydale, was "an old stately home, a beautiful place".
In a wide-ranging interview with The Sunday Times, Fleetwood revealed his bizarre list of tour superstitions and drug myths surrounding the band.
But he dismissed US industry reports Fleetwood Mac is thumping the Stones in ticket sales and positive reviews.
"I've heard those reports, too. But I know the lads have decided to go with very expensive seats," he said. "All I know is Fleetwood Mac has been incredibly blessed with a hugely successful tour. We always do good business, but this tour is pretty much sold out before we even got out on the road.
"That is very gratifying. But we should be so lucky to even open for the Rolling Stones."

Auckland's Fleetwood fortune 7:12 AM Sunday May 26, 2013
Dunedin's loss is Auckland's gain, with legendary band Fleetwood Mac confirming they will play at Auckland's Vector Arena this year.
The lineup will include band founders Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, and big names Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.
They will play in Auckland on December 6, with tickets going on sale on June 13.
The announcement comes as a legal dispute intensifies over the group's cancelled gig in Dunedin.
Fleetwood Mac were to play in the southern city in December until a change in promoter - from McManus Entertainment to Live Nation Entertainment - meant the band pulled out.
McManus was stung with a $50,000 cancellation fee from Forsyth Barr Stadium management, which it said this week it would fight in court.
New promotor Live Nation Entertainment has promised Aucklanders an "extraordinary show including exquisite harmonies, incomparable chemistry, sleek perfection and classic hits".
The tour of Australia and New Zealand will begin on November 10 in Sydney, and will end with the Auckland show.
The band, who have global album sales of more than 100 million, were last in New Zealand in 2009, for two shows at New Plymouth's Brooklands Bowl.

Fleetwood Mac Promoter Change Leaves Andrew McManus $50k Out of Pocket
by Paul Cashmere on May 26, 2013, Noise 11

Australian promoter Andrew McManus claims to be $50,000 out of pocket after Fleetwood Mac cancelled his Australian and New Zealand dates and went Live Nation instead.
McManus had placed a $50,000 deposit to secure the Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin before Fleetwood Mac switched promoters, according to the Otago Daily Times.
When Live Nation picked up the tour they scheduled the Fleetwood Mac show for Auckland on December 6 leaving Dunedin off the schedule. It is unknown if McManus had a signed contract for the Fleetwood Mac tour at the time he booked the Dunedin venue. Now Forsyth Barr Stadium management are refusing to give him a refund leaving the Melbourne based promoter $50,000 down the drain.
Fleetwood Mac’s Australian tour will begin in Sydney on November 10. They will also perform in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. The tour will end in Auckland, New Zealand one month later on December 6.

The British musician has lived in the U.S. since the 1970s, and became a citizen in 2006, but admits he once gave up his green card so he could swap America for Australia.
Fleetwood bought a sprawling stately home in Mittagong, New South Wales and spent six years trying to make his Down Under plan work before he gave up.
He tells Australia's Herald Sun newspaper, "I love Australia so much I tried to emigrate there. I fell in love with your country on one of the tours, found a place to live. I gave up my green card and fully intended to do this whole thing. In truth it was too much too soon. It fell apart over a five or six-year period. It just didn't work out.''
Fleetwood, 65, still dreams of living in Australia, but insists he is now too old and settled to make such a big move, adding, "I would do it again, for sure, if I was 25 years younger. I think Australia is a great country for young people to go there and make a go of it."
The musician will be returning to the country in November (13) to tour with Fleetwood Mac.

I am keen though for some more details like, you know, prices. Of course Ill be there anyway, but if there's more than one show here (and it looks like they've left plenty of room between dates so far), I will have some decisions to make! I'm also keen to see if there will be any special packages, or the option to purchase front row tickets at a premium.

Tonedeaf Written by Dylan McCarthy on 30 May 2013
http://www.tonedeaf.com.au/news/industry-news/309902/promoter-andrew-mcmanus-furious-losing-fleetwood-mac-sues-stadium.htm
The recent announcement of Fleetwood Mac’s long-awaited return to Australia and New Zealand has spun the Southern Hemisphere into an ecstatic frenzy. But there’s one person currently not very happy about it. That’s person’s name is Andrew McManus.
The titular concert promoter behind McManus Entertainment is caught up in a heated legal battle with New Zealand venue Forsyth Barr Stadium after Fleetwood Mac changed promotors ahead of the announcement of their forthcoming tour.
McManus Entertainment made a $50,000 deposit for Fleetwood Mac to perform at the stadium in Dunedin, however, the show was subsequently scrapped when the legendary band switched promoting companies to Live Nation Entertainment, leaving the Melbourne-based promoter out of pocket. This is where things get a little messy.
Forsyth Barr Stadium – sticking to the fundamental rule of deposits – are refusing to refund McManus the $50,000. Outraged, McManus has fired back telling The Otaga Times the cancellation fee is “morally and professionally wrong” and that he plans to sue the venue for the same amount.
According to Noise 11, it’s currently unknown whether McManus had signed a contract with Fleetwood Mac at the time of the booking. Regardless, Forsyth Barr’s management have said they will fight the matter in court if need be.
It’s not the first time McManus has been involved in a booking mixup. Most recently he was at the centre of the controversial beginnings of the inaugural Stone Music Festival, which debuted last April.
The sudden announcement of the festival, a two-day event headlined by Van Halen and Billy Joel, was met with some criticism as some questioned the need for another festival in the current economic climate. Others rightfully pointed out that Van Halen had a patchy history when it comes to actually turning up to the concerns they’ve been booked for.
Despite initial friction and heated words thrown between Stone Music Festival and McManus, the two parties ended up forming a bizarre partnership, with McManus announcing that Aerosmith – the band he had booked to tour Australia – would be absorbed into the Saturday night lineup for Stone Music Festival, and in turn becoming Aerosmith’s debut show of their Australian tour, the news arriving just weeks out from its kick-off.
While reports from the festival seem to follow the trajectory of ‘small numbers, big response’, Stone Music Festival promoters have revealed that it will be making a return in 2014 with ambitions to rope in some big acts as part of a secured three-to-five year business plan. ”It could be Muse or Kings Of Leon or Pearl Jam, or it could be The Eagles, but it will always be rock and they’ll be exclusive,” said Stephen Duval, of financiers SEQ, about future Stone Music Festival possibilities.
Meanwhile, Fleetwood Mac’s show must go on. Live Nation Entertainment have since re-booked their New Zealand date for Auckland’s Vector Arena and are promising an “extraordinary show including exquisite harmonies, incomparable chemistry, sleek perfection and classic hits.”
The tour coincides with the recent release of their new four-track EP appropriately titled Extended Play; the first dose of new material since their 17th studio album in 2003, Say You Will.
“It’s the best stuff we’ve done in a long time,” said guitarist Lindsay Buckingham on-staged recently, during the introduction to new song ‘Sad Angel’ (watch some tasty fan footage here).
While fellow bandmate Stevie Nicks shared Buckingham’s enthusiasm, previously remarking of the new world tour: “It’s the perfect time to go back out – 2013 is going to be the year of Fleetwood Mac.”
With a career spanning more than four decades and global album sales amassing more than 100 million, even with the release of the new EP, Buckingham has noted that there’s still a focus on the band’s extensive catalogue of hits. “We always have to play ‘Dreams,’ ‘Rhiannon,’ ‘Don’t Stop,’ ‘Tusk,’ ‘Big Love,’ ‘Landslide’ and all our most famous songs,” he told Rolling Stone at the end of last year.
“When you’ve gone through all your must-do’s, that’s 75% of your potential setlist. I think with the other 25%, there are areas of our catalog that are more under-explored,” continued the guitarist.

Dunedin Stadium halts legal action over Fleetwood Mac
By Nigel Benson
Dunedin Venues Management Ltd has extended an olive branch to the promoter of the ill-fated Fleetwood Mac concert scheduled for Forsyth Barr Stadium.
McManus Entertainment director Andrew McManus was initially charged a $50,000 cancellation fee for the event, over which he threatened legal action.
However, he told the Otago Daily Times yesterday (Thur) the fee had subsequently been reduced to $15,000.
"An olive branch was put to me, which I accepted to avoid long-term legal fees and so I can walk away from this," he said.
Mr McManus agreed a deal with DVML in January for Aerosmith to play at the stadium on April 24 and Fleetwood Mac on December 17.
"When I did the initial deal, I honestly believed I had both tours.
"While the two concerts were always my intention, beyond my control [United States promoter] Live Nation came in and have taken the Fleetwood Mac tour off me," he said.
Mr McManus has previously toured Fleetwood Mac twice and solo tours by Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood.
"I think I am entitled to believe loyalty and being promoter of record would ensure me of 'my' tour. No other promoter would break the code of trying to steal another's bread and butter tour when they have had ownership for the past decade. Unfortunately, I was wrong."
Live Nation bypassed Dunedin in favour of an Auckland concert, activating a $50,000 cancellation fee, which Mr McManus described as "morally and professionally wrong" and he threatened legal action.
DMVL chief executive Darren Burden said the "very explicit" contract was for a two-concert deal for Aerosmith and Fleetwood Mac and the cancellation fee was included as part of the contract.
However, the company issued a statement yesterday, indicating it had softened its stance.
"Following discussion, Dunedin Venues has agreed a cancellation fee with McManus Entertainment for the Fleetwood Mac concert, which has been paid.
"Although our relationships with promoters are very important, we have operated with integrity and in line with the contractual arrangements that are in place."
DMVL did not confirm the $15,000 fee, citing commercial sensitivity.
Fleetwood Mac will play Auckland's Vector Arena on December 6.

Damn! I thought Brisbane and Melbourne had maybe escaped. So how does it work then? I guess the chance of getting anywhere close to the stage during the presale, buying a gold priced ticket, is quite low because they hold the better seats hoping for someone willing to pay for the higher priced 'packages'?
Is it better to wait until closer to the date & hope the packages don't sell & the tickets get put back into the pool?
Also, has anyone seen a seating plan for Brisbane or Melbourne? The Sydney one shows gold priced tickets being about 90% of the Ent Cent, meaning someone getting a floor seat pays the same price as someone in the upper tier.
And one more thing. What chance do you think there is they will announce a 2nd show in some places?

It's presale madness!
not_the_torment (love that lyric, by the way) -- they usually say the presale is an opportunity to secure a ticket before they go on sale to the general public, not a preferential seating service (look at me, I could practically do the advert). So in theory, you should still be able to get decent tickets in a presale, although I've sometimes been a bit skeptical about how many of say the first five rows are actually released for sale vs special packages, give aways etc. In saying that, I've often done well in the promoters or ticket agent presales - second row for Stevie in 2011, and fourth row for The Who when they were here.
My approach will be to get the best tickets I can on Friday morning, and keep checking back until the show to see if anything better comes up. If it does, I think the odds of me being able to sell the first lot of tickets are pretty good, and I'd even be willing to take a small loss on them if the other ones were worth it.
I think the chances of a second show are pretty good in Sydney and Melbourne, and maybe Brisbane. They've certainly left plenty of room for them. I guess it just depends on how the first shows sell - I think concerts are taking a bit of a hit compared to 2009, but hopefully they still go alright.
And hopefully the seating plans will go up tomorrow with the Amex presale? I hate this lack of info - I need to prepare for Friday already!

Only thing is you might not get the second show until 2014, rather than back to back.

You think they might do that, Michele? I was thinking it's a fairly long way to come, so was expecting that they would make just the one trip like they have in the past.

Stuff Co. New Zealand, June 4, 2013
http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/blogs/blog-on-the-tracks/8750975/Fleetwood-Mac-new-tour-new-EP
While I was away the other week and busy seeing shows in Sydney, news dropped that Fleetwood Mac will return to New Zealand before the end of this year; one show, Auckland, December 6. It's tempting to see them again - it'll be almost four years to the day from when I saw them in New Plymouth and that was a fabulous gig.
I seem to cop a bit of grief around here (and Facebook) for mentioning, from time to time, that I'm a Fleetwood Mac fan. Not sure why. Extraordinary band, one of the best (most adaptable) rhythm sections in rock (and pop and blues...) and in Lindsey Buckingham the band has a leader (albeit reluctant at times) who has, if anything, improved with age. He was always an incredible player but it feels like he had to walk away from the band, had to leave, in order to be fully appreciated (by both the band and fans). And his solo albums have improved with time - I love them all but if anything he's getting better, stronger with each release.
He's the one doing the heavy lifting with this version of Fleetwood Mac. People might still turn up in their white-witch/white-trash regalia to do a slow twirl as Stevie Nicks sings Gypsy but listen to Lindsey's guitar solo on that track. He's the star. He's the one making it happen.
There's still something in the story of Stevie and Lindsey too - they still know how to milk that, this band-as-soap-opera; these two tormented lovers/ex-lovers/lovers/ex-lovers...
I'd rather see Fleetwood Mac in 2013 than The Rolling Stones. Have you heard how awful they sound? For proof - head to the band's official YouTube channel. It's clear they don't have a clue...
But Fleetwood Mac still knows how to get the job done. And they've even taken the smart approach to releasing new material - choosing to simply offer an EP, just four songs. I think for a band like Fleetwood Mac - a heritage act, a band that tours to play the hits - this is the right move. It's been 10 years since they released an album and in that time we've been told (so often) that the album is dead, that the industry is dead. The world doesn't really need a new Fleetwood Mac album - but an EP means there is a fan-souvenir and there are four new songs for the gigs.
Again, it's Lindsey doing the heavy lifting, contributing three new songs and a re-recording of a Buckingham/Nicks song. So the four songs are Lindsey's doing - and he nails three of them. Heck, he even does his best to write a new Christine McVie song; since she's still the missing piece of the puzzle these days.
Did you know they'd released new material? And will you check it out? Will you go to the gig end of this year? Or are you just not a Fleetwood Mac fan? Just as I don't understand how someone couldn't like this band are you someone who does not understand at all how someone could like them? And do you agree that Lindsey Buckingham is - in this day and age - the star the show, the one carrying the FM name at this point in terms of the playing/writing/delivering? (And yes, I know a lot of people still go just for Stevie.)

Thank you!
I actually searched for seats at the AmEx presale, even though I couldn't buy them (no AmEx). I couldn't get anything on the floor for Brisbane or Sydney about an hour after they went on sale. Now Brisbane is showing upper tier only. Hope that means tickets are selling well & 2nd shows will be announced.
Good luck tomorrow morning!

The presale allocation for Adelaide sold out too. I wish I knew what percentage of tickets were made available in the presales, but safe to say they seem to have sold well so far.
I've actually just shot myself in the foot by asking my brother if he wanted to come -- he didn't last time, and I was expecting him to say no again, but of course he says yes, setting off a chain reaction in the rest of the family so that I now need to find four tickets! I actually think I'm going to use this presale madness to my own advantage, and just buy the tickets in two lots of two -- mum's short (heh, so am I) and hates sitting in the flat seats at the entertainment centre, so I think I'll shoot for as close to the front as I can tomorrow, and then buy her tickets in the next round.
Good luck to you too. Sadly, I've realised that buying concert tickets now induces the same kind of nerves in me that exams used to!

I managed section E for the Hunter Valley show, fairly pleased with that. But for the Sydney (where I'm determined to be at the stage again) the best that was coming up was section D so I didn't bother. Preferred Seating are now selling packages at those extortionate prices (although the Dreams package has already sold out), but not individual tickets. I'm tempted to go for the Go Your Own Way package....

Wasn't that ticket buying process a real ordeal? I was trying to get myself all prepared from about 8.30am, and the Ticketek site wouldn't let people log in to their accounts; and then 9am ticks over, and the Live Nation link isn't up.
After all that, I think I was there for the Brisbane tickets pretty much right as they went on sale, and the best I could pull up was Row 30. I bought them, because I have an itchy trigger finger, but I will keep looking. I am really starting to wonder though how many tickets in Rows 1 to 5 are even being sold at the normal price, and not bundled into these awful packages. If a second Brisbane show comes up, I think I could almost be tempted by a GYOW package, but the Dreams package is just way out of my budget this year, and the Rumours package is a total why would you bother for me - $200 to sit in Row 30, or $400 to possibly sit not much further ahead in Row 20 or, worse still, in the lower circle.

Second Auckland show for Fleetwood Mac 12:26 PM Friday Jun 7, 2013
Reunited rockers Fleetwood Mac have announced a second show at Auckland's Vector Arena.
A press release issued today said demand for pre-sale tickets to the first show was so high, a second show had been added to their tour.
Fleetwood Mac will now perform at Vector Arena on December 6 and 7.
"We are thrilled to return to New Zealand where we've always loved performing. Our fans there are phenomenal," said the band in a statement.
Tickets for both shows go on general release at 9am, June 13.

I've just been having a look at Brisbane tickets again (still need my second lot of two, but I think I'll get better seats on Tuesday). The pre-sale allocation for the front row packages is exhausted (there were probably only like 2 for sale anyway), but I can get a block of 10 tickets in the 3rd row in the next package down. Plenty still available for Melbourne when I looked too. Point is, I think there's a good chance a lot of these tickets will drop later on - will just have to keep an eye out.

Again I was in right on time, and the best available was the row behind where I bought on Friday. I'm still trying to find two tickets for mum and dad (they want to sit on one of the sides, nearish to the stage), and absolutely nothing decent is coming up. I have literally been offered NOTHING in the first half of the arena, and there's no way I believe they've all been sold when I can get all kinds of tickets elsewhere. I suspect nothing in the first 20-25 floor rows has been made available at normal prices yet, and nor have any tickets near the front on the sides. It's just ridiculous.

Again, I was offered nothing but crap this morning. Well done to anybody who got anything decent at any of the shows - I don't know what on earth was going on in Brisbane, but the very best I was offered was about 11am this morning, Row 23 (after being offered nosebleed seat after corner section after side view - ugh). But, I am encouraged that the show is almost sold out now, so hopefully we'll get a second date, and hopefully meet and greets!
StreetAngel 86 - they're doing M&Gs at both the Sydney shows and both the Auckland shows, so I don't see why the second Melbourne show would miss out. I'm figuring they're just not up yet because it was only announced this morning (and we've already seen Mick's site is a bit slow on the uptake!)
secret love - I went to both Brisbane shows in 2009, and we got SS both nights. I'm not sure there's any rhyme or reason to it, other than how Stevie's feeling on the night. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Sometimes though I find my favourite songs are a bit of a let down live (they're not bad, but they're just unable to reach my crazy high expectations), and that a song I like less ends up stealing the show. I guess my point is, you will have a blast no matter what :)

Surely a 2nd Brisbane show must be on the horizon. There's barely any tickets left & from what I can see, only single seats available.
Has anyone bought a meet & greet for any of the Aussie shows?

Geelong Advertiser Tourism boon as Day on the Green sells out
http://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/article/2013/06/14/367144_news.html
Nathan Hale | June 14th, 2013
GEELONG is set for a multi-million dollar windfall after tickets to Fleetwood Mac's appearance at A Day on the Green sold out in record time.
It took just 90 minutes for the 14,000 tickets to sell for the November 30 concert to be held at The Hill Winery.
Geelong Otway Tourism boss Roger Grant labelled the demand for the performance as a welcome respite following a string of bad jobs news recently.
"Tourism brings more than $1 billion to the region every year and you cannot underestimate the importance of events like this," he said.
"This type of event will bring in millions of dollars."
A Day on The Green promoter Michael Newton said yesterday's ticket frenzy was expected.
Mr Newton said the hype about one of the best-known bands in the world hitting our region was overwhelming.
"From the very first moment the concert was announced, the buzz has been just phenomenal," he said.
"We're absolutely delighted to be presenting this much-loved iconic band."
Following festivals such as Lorne's Falls, Meredith, the National Celtic Festival at Portarlington and local festivals at Apollo Bay, Queenscliff and Anglesea, music is becoming big business.
Mr Grant said the ability to host such events - coupled with the natural beauty of the Great Ocean Road and the Bellarine Peninsula - made the region an attractive destination.
"There are some terrific festivals and we now have a genuine competitive advantage in a national sense," Mr Grant said.
"Last weekend's Celtic Festival was just fabulous and music is recognised in our strategy as an important link.
"We have a great reputation and are ideally placed to take advantage of the increasing numbers of people who are doing three and four-day getaways."
Two concerts in the Day on the Green series were held at The Hill earlier this year.
In February about 7000 people watched Australian rock legends Hoodoo Gurus, The Angels with Dave Gleeson, Ross Wilson, Dragon and Boom Crash Opera, while nearly 10,000 people turned up to see Neil Young and his band Crazy Horse.

If this isn't confirmation of the extra dates on the Nicks Fix, I will cry.

Nicks Fix is Stevie's official website. Unlikely that they would post false concert dates. I think you're safe.
Personally was hoping the dates would go on sale later than Live Nation is suggesting ...I get paid mid-July and am hoping to purchase tickets to the third Sydney show, which is on Thursday 14/11/13.
Shouldn't be greedy though as I'm lucky enough to already have tickets to the second Sydney show on 11/11/13.
Good luck Doubtful Miracle! Get in early to get the best seats!

New Zealand Herald Showtime as stars come to Kiwi fans
By Russell Blackstock
Meanwhile, rock veterans Fleetwood Mac have re-arranged dates in Australia to squeeze in an extra New Zealand concert.
More than 20,000 tickets for the band's shows at the Vector on December 6 and 7 sold out in 20 minutes.
The group has now added a third date at the venue, on December 4.
Speaking backstage at a concert in Iowa this week, singer Stevie Nicks said she was delighted with thesupport.
"We get to come to New Zealand so seldom that the longer we can stay the better we like it," the 65-year-old said. "I am so excited that we are able to add a third show in Auckland."
Luke Hede, vice-president of Australia-based promoter Live Nation, said: "The demand to see Fleetwood Mac live in New Zealand is almost unprecedented.
"The band is very excited about finishing their world tour in Auckland before heading back to the States for Christmas."
Tickets for the additional Fleetwood Mac show go on sale from 11am on Monday, July 8.
American Express cardholders can buy tickets first, from noon this Wednesday.

An extra NZ show on the 4th doesn't bode well for a second Brisbane show on the 3rd, since that would make three shows in consecutive days :(

So it would seem all the dates are settled now:
- second Perth show on 23 November
- second (but actually first) Brisbane show on 14 November; in light of this, I would say there will be no third Sydney show as originally planned.
I really hope the meet and greets pop up for these and the other extra shows soon.

Written by Al Newstead on 1 July 2013
Following on from adding extra shows in Sydney and Melbourne for their impending Australian visit, overwhelming demand for tickets in Brisbane and Perth has now seen extra shows added to Fleetwood Mac’s 2013 Australian Tour.
Taking in capital cities and a handful of regional visits his November and December, Fleetwood Mac have added a second and final Brisbane show to take place at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Thursday 14th November, as well as a second and final date for Perth fans to take place on Saturday 23rd November at Perth Arena following the band’s Friday night show at the same venue.
Tickets for the additional shows at Brisbane and Perth go on sale Monday 19th July at 11am. American Express Card members are offered an exclusive presale that begins 12 noon Wednesday 3rd July while Live Nation members can enjoy access in their presale from 2pm Friday 5th July. All other shows are already on sale and have seen sell outs in Sydney, Melbourne and a Geelong date at the Hill Winery as part of A Day On The Green.
Fleetwood Mac’s spectacular two-hour-plus show reunites the multi-Grammy winning, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees on stage to deliver many of their classic and most beloved songs including ‘The Chain’, ‘Dreams’, ‘Second Hand News’, ‘Rhiannon’, ‘Sara’, ‘Gold Dust Woman’, ‘Tusk’, ‘Looking Out for Love’, ‘Don’t Stop’, ‘Go Your Own Way’… the list goes on.
The current line-up includes Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham along with Fleetwood Mac founders Mick Fleetwood and John McVie.
“We are thrilled to return to Australia where we’ve always loved performing. Our fans there are phenomenal,” commented the group in a joint statement. This will be Fleetwood Mac’s first series of concerts since 2009’s sold-out Unleashed Tour.
Rumours – the 1977 album that made Fleetwood Mac one of the world’s most iconic bands, garnered universal critical praise, earned the Grammy for Album of the Year and more than 40 million sales worldwide – celebrated its 35th anniversary this February with the release of both an expanded and super deluxe editions (through Warner Music Aust).
In addition to the Rumours reissue, last month Fleetwood Mac released a four-track EP, Extended Play, comprising of three new songs and one “lost song” from the 1973 Buckingham Nicks days; their first new material in more than a decade.
With a career spanning more than four decades and global album sales amassing more than 100 million, Fleetwood Mac live is not to be missed.

:D:laugh:OMG!! So excited, I can't believe my luck. I thought, I'll just check ticketmaster and see what seats are available in Sydney for the Nov 10 and 11 shows.
I couldn't believe it when I was offered, straight up, Row 3, Section B seats. and at The Sydney Entertainment Center that's middle section right in front of center stage ... Whoo-hoo!! ... I paid the extra to have the tickets express posted so I should get them monday or tuesday and I'll know exactly what seats we have.
I just had to share that with all you guys, we all know how hard it can be to get good seats. I've front rowed for Stevie in Sydney in 2006 but have never landed good seats for the Mac. So I'm totally stoked!!
I'll be doing my best to capture some Sisters of the Moon to hopefully share.
I Can't Wait! I've been following the tour on The Ledge since they opened and have loved it, so thankyou to everyone here for all the info and cool links.

I just would like to take a moment to second what you have said here. I am so thankful to the people, the "Ledgies" on this forum who have provided many giggles, many links to awesome YouTube clips, much gossip and chit chat leading up to a great thing - an evening with four very talented people (plus all the additional musicians who are also excellent) and judging from the North American shows, a very rocking show.
Honestly I do believe that the Mac are a bigger thing in America than anywhere else in the world (maybe UK excepted ...but perhaps they have more fondness for Greenie, I'm not sure). It has been reassuring to know that I am not the only young person who likes Fleetwood Mac or Stevie Nicks or Lindsey Buckingham. They are great at their jobs, and amazing players/singer-songwriters. That's really all there is to it (to my enjoyment of them) for me. Of course the gossip is fun but the main thing is that awesome music.
Thank you so much everyone.
James
That said, I find some of the jokes in Andy's post a little clichéd :p

Im not too sure what's going on regarding Micks M & G's, I never received any additional info from Ticketek or Preferred Seating.. Im going to their second concert in Brissy which was originally their first show.. I would of jumped at the chance if they had of promoted it at the start, instead of 3 weeks after tickets went on sale... Im guessing they have all sold out by now.. :distress:
Im getting excited just thinking about it,:blob1: 5th row left of Centre :D

I've asked them several times, but the people running the site don't know ****. It's never been on sale. Mick's going to think WTF? when the night comes and he has no-one to greet.

Thank you! Thought I'd blinked & missed it.
Can just imagine Mick wandering around pre show wondering why no one wants to meet him!
On the up side, if there are meet & greet seats that have been put aside but never been available for sale, perhaps they eventually be up for grabs at the gold ticket $199 price.
