View Full Version : A CD or tape to slide onto the stage

So, you know how Stevie has said that she has rediscovered songs on YouTube that were lost, like Without You and Secret Love etc., and then re-recorded them? How about someone making a CD or tape with the "lost" songs we'd like her or BN to record, and sliding it onto the stage?
What would be on the list?
I think we should seriously do this. I'll be in Tacoma monday and if there's enough input, I'll do one. Somebody from the Ledge should do one at each show, lol.

She has said before she can't accept CD's & such because of her history of being sued over the song Sara. So if y'all put a CD on the stage, she'll never hear it.

Sorry to interupt your conversation lovelies, but I have heard multiple times about the story her being sued for Sara, can anyone just give me a quick summary of what exactly happened there? Or evena lin maybe? Thanks so much! :o

In 1980, a woman from Grand Rapids, Michigan (my hometown!) attempted to sue Stevie because she believed a song she "wrote" was extremely similar to Sara and that Stevie had ripped her off. Stevie won, of course.

I'd totally forgotton this one!! Thanks Artemis. Do we know who produced this?
It has all the makings of a terrific torch song.... it just needs a little help to sound a little less.... "Disney"... you know?
She couldn't do the high notes anymore (not consistently anyway) but this could be a really cool song for her to sing as a "mature" woman.

Why does this stop her from listening to CDs she is given?
Because if she does, then someone could come back and claim that a song she put out after the fact was ripped off of whatever song of theirs they put on the CD that she listened to.

Fair enough. But I thought this was about someone giving her a CD of her own demo's.

It was, but unless you very specifically and clearly advise on the cover or something that they are her own songs, there's a good chance she won't listen just as a precaution.

I believe it was produced by David Kahn if I spelt that iChat who produced love changes I believe this is his song not Stevie's. she just sang it for on it for him

That's the perfect idea!!! By doing that you know it will definitely make it into Stevie's hands. If not at least Mick can hear them and know that these are the songs the fans want to hear.
I can picture it: Mick goes to Stevie asks about recording and she says I don't have any songs i really want to work on at the moment. He pulls the cd out and says how about these!

I'm so obsessed with the slow demo of Julia from when she first wrote it. Needs to be recorded. It's my favorite demo right now. And the incessant coke babble in between it all just makes it even better. Sara Recor/Fleetwood was laughing about this all yesterday on FB with me and my friend Bailie. She says it's a good thing Shelly's so patient and referred to him as a "strong man"

Thats a good move.I would be afraid if the CD was left on the stage it would got lost when the crew packs up for the night if it was unnoticed on the stage at the time it was put on it.
Yes .Ditto on the tunes mentioned and I would put a note in the CD case to and even make an audio message for her on the CD to.

OK! I did it!!
I made 3 full CD's with everything that was requested and some other stuff. During the meet and greet I asked Mick if I could give him some CD's with Stevie demo's on them and he looked at me a little surprised and then said "what? you have what? It sounds very mysterious!" I explained it to him and he said "yeah! absolutely!" So when he came down to do questions and autographs I just stood up and handed the CD's to him. He said something like "great, we'll get some new music.." His assistant, Robert, said, "I want to give them to her" and took them from Mick, and Mick said "no I want to give them to her" but Robert wouldn't give them to him. Then Robert said to me something like "I think this should be my job" and kind of winked.
So, no doubt that she will get them!
I'm kind of excited now. I wrote a note and mentioned that the requests were from fans from the Ledge and said there were more where those came from.
Thanks everyone!

I hope someone remembered to include "Love You Enough" or whatever the title is; it was found on those reel-to-reel tapes from the studio. I don't really know the title, but some of the words are:
I look at you
And I know you've not forgotten
Still make me laugh, in the laughter
we were lost in
I still love you, though we cannot be in love,
But when I see you, I just can't get enough...
I'll never be able to love you enough
Though my spirit lies deep inside your soul...

I was not implying in any way that I had contributed to any positivity here. I was stating it was very refreshing to see some positivity. True, I have only been a member for a short period, but I have been watching from afar for quite a while. I am constantly blown away at the amount of knowledge there is around here and I am very appreciative of that fact. However in all honesty I have been timid at joining and posting my thoughts and opinions because there is so much negativity. This thread is a case in point. The original poster asked for demo suggestions that could be compiled onto CD and passed to Stevie. Great idea but it was shot down by forum members stating Stevie would never listen to a CD she received for fear of being sued. I am simply happy that that was overlooked and the CD was made and has possibly been given to Stevie. Kudos to justdreamin for having a go!

I don't view that as negativity. It was just an opinion expressed. I'm glad you decided to join and I look forward to your opinions offered. As you stated, it is true that The Ledge contains a great source of Fleetwood Mac information. Personally I find it refreshing that people can share their opinions, whether they be positive or perceived as negative. Every so often someone acts a little grumpy, but that's to be expected from human beings.

LORD HAVE MERCY !!! I've heard tons of these Stevie Nicks "Bootleg Demos" thougout my 30 years as a fan, but this one takes the cake! I almost feel guilty listening to it! It seems intrusive in a way. "Julia" is one of the most beautiful Stevie Nicks songs never formally recorded. While I enjoyed this version, it sounds like our girl needs to be carried off in a stretcher and tucked into bed. She'll definitely need an aspirin in the morning. Renowned engineer Shelly Yakus sounds like she's working his last nerve. Shelly definitely earns his paycheck on this night. He comes close to telling her off. Alas, Stevie was surrounded by so many "yes men" that I doubt he'd go there. Her "yes girls" Sara and Debbie better get her that "toot" ASAP, she's getting irate! GIRLS, get her that "toot" now !!! And Robin, get your ass in her and LISTEN to my brilliant songwriting. I even amaze myself by living two lives!!! Did you know that I live two lives?
Ok "Sister Two Lives", time to go nighty-night. Let's get your slippers and cart you off to bed. No Honey, you can't have that toot, it may throw you into cardiac arrest.....then you'll really put that kingdom up for sale. Honey, its time to ride through that "snow" and take that old fashioned carriage off to dreamland.
Stevie, I love you, but can we say "high maintenance???????????????

I can totally relate.
Last summer (or 2011 I guess), I had the chance to give Stevie a CD because my best friend, a caterer, was working for Stevie during IYD tour rehearsals at Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver. I just wanted to make her a mix CD of contemporary artists that my friend would give her - nothing special - nothing personal - no Stevie stuff, just a mix CD like you'd make for a friend.
While many folks here were encouraging, some others fearmongered and told me I'd alienate Stevie, that I was going to creep her out, that she'd feel stalked - that she'd even cancel shows or eliminate VIP tickets or backstage access and that I would "ruin" the tour for other fans.
It was ridiculous, but I guess it worked. I never burned my CD, though I think I still have the playlist in my iTunes.

I think it would fantastic. I was really surprised at how surprised Mick was! As though it really WAS something mysterious. I know most all this stuff is out there, but maybe they don't go looking for it. I don't know how I'll know if anyone listened to them, except that I'm going again to the Spokane show and, well, I'm half afraid to ask. But, on the other hand, maybe I'll make some more discs!!! ha!

Maybe Mick decided to listen to the CD's first so then he could present Stevie with the gift and tell her how much he likes certain songs on it. Get her all worked up and then record one of those songs tonight.
Hope "She Loves Him Still" was included...
