Lindsey Buckingham says the group has five more unreleased tracks. "The whole thing is just kind of wide open now, and it really is tantalizing to be able to put together just a few things, three or four songs on an EP"
Lindsey Buckingham says there's more where Fleetwood Mac's new "Extended Play" came from.
Buckingham tells Billboard that he, drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie "cut eight songs" with producer Mitchell Froom last year after Fleetwood Mac decided it would be touring this year. Three of those -- "Sad Angel," "It Takes Time" and "Miss Fantasy" -- are part of the "Extended Play" digital release that came out May 6, joined by "Without You," resurrected by Stevie Nicks from the Buckingham Nicks days before they joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975.
Fleetwood Mac Release 'Extended Play,' First New Music in a Decade
Buckingham says "it may be too early to tell where things are going to go" with the remaining songs, but he adds that "it's safe to say there is more than these four songs that you're going to hear from Fleetwood Mac -- it's just a question of how and when, y'know?"
The "when," of course, is complicated by Fleetwood Mac's current tour, which crosses North America through July 6 and then heads to Europe in September. But Buckingham acknowledges that "Extended Play" has certainly given the veteran group a fresh perspective on releasing new music rather than the drama and trauma of making an entire album, as it's done in the past.
"When I was growing up, EPs were all over the place," Buckingham notes. "When I was growing up, albums were not really an art form; the single was the thing, and in some ways it has gotten back to that a little bit. The whole thing is just kind of wide open now, and it really is tantalizing to be able to put together just a few things, three or four songs on an EP. There is something quite effective about that, for sure. I have no preconceptions one way or the other in terms of what Fleetwood Mac will do or even what Fleetwood Mac should do. You just do what you can do and what makes sense logically -- and politically."
Fleetwood Mac has been playing "Sad Angel" and "Without You" regularly in its shows, and has dug into its catalog for "Sisters of the Moon" -- part of a four-song blast from 1979's "Tusk" that Buckingham says he's happy to have in the set.
"After all this time it's very sweet we're able to sort of tap into that, just on more of an overview level," Buckingham reports. "I think we're playing better, or as well, as we've ever played. It's kind of a lovefest between Stevie and me out there, which is great. And this time there seems to be an enhanced appreciation of the body of work. There seem to be a lot of young people at the shows -- not that there haven't been before, but there seem to be more this time. So I'm having a great time out there. We're just killing it out there as far as I'm concerned."
Fans, meanwhile, are hoping that the tour -- which coincides with the 45th anniversary of the release of the very first Fleetwood Mac album -- will catch up to one of the group's most celebrated alumni later this year. Mick Fleetwood rather publicly reached out to Christine McVie, who quit the band in 1998, which resulted in her visiting him in Maui as well as a Mac reunion dinner in Los Angeles. Buckingham calls the gesture "just reaching out to her as a longtime friend" and definitively says that "Christine is never going to rejoin the band."
Being together again, however, was a hoot.
"That was great fun. It was very interesting to see what that extra piece of the puzzle does to the overall equation," Buckingham recalls. "It was a trip, because she was the same old person I'd always known, and she was cracking me up. We'd always had just a great chemistry, the two of us, and we just kind of hit the ground running as soon as I saw her, which was kind of amazing. If she wants to come up and do 'Don't Stop' with us when we're in England, I'd love to see that. But beyond that I think there's not too much you can make out of it -- although I'm sure people will try."

Kinda heartbreaking to hear Lindsey confirm we'll never hear anything out of Christine in a Mac setting other than Don't Stop in London. I was really hoping they could convince her to at least record a couple of tracks in the studio. Between that, and Lindsey basically admitting Fleetwood Mac's days of recording full length studio albums are over, I'm just seriously bummed by this article! :distress:

Lindsey may have grown up with singles, but not with EPs. EPs are not the equivalent of what singles and "B" sides were back in the day. I wish they were.
Nice to hear of the Mac reunion dinner in Los Angeles. I'm not interested in the part about Don't Stop being a one time thing. Mick, we need you to get guidance from the best psychoanalysts and/or hypnotists and learn how to bend the band members' to the people's will, please.

I don't know about anybody else, but if Stevie refuses to come to the party, I would be perfectly happy to buy a Men of Mac album full of songs by Lindsey, Mick and John. Obviously it would be ideal if Stevie (and Christine - for three or four songs) came back into the studio with the band, considering how much she goes on about loving being in Fleetwood Mac and how she would never break up the band.
If she really is the barrier to them doing a full length album, I say just bloody do it without her.
Disappointed to hear that Christine will at best only be singing Don't Stop with them in London - I was hoping they could maybe surprise us and change the setlist for just one night to include some of these songs: Believe Me, Come a Little Bit Closer, Warm Ways, Say You Love Me, You Make Loving Fun, Songbird, Think About Me, Honey Hi, Hold Me, Little Lies, Isn't it Midnight, Skies the Limit, Hollywood (Some Other Kind of Town), Temporary One, You Are (hey, BN get to do solo work at FM concerts!)
she not going to contribute her own songs, she'll do background or harmony vocals on his songs, but I get the feeling she not giving up her songs for fleetwood mac
yeah that's how i read it too.
also, that they don't necessarily have to wait for her to contribute some of her songs so that they have the whole album, but instead keep releasing in little drips what they have as they make it. you know, just "throw it out there". :D
in one of the radio interviews last week, Lindsey said something about Stevie being in the process of writing songs when she came to his studio, but she didn't have anything ready yet so she brought WY instead.

I have a hard time imagining her pride would allow the release of a Fleetwood Mac album in which she is relegated to being a background singer with no artistic contribution of her own. She'll have to be completely in or completely out.

And the thing is, I think it would be easier to get Christine to sing on the other Lindsey songs. To sing and play on them or to contribute songs of her own than it would be to get her on the stage in London. She'd actually have fun recording, is my guess.
Lindsey's not dumb, so I don't understand exactly why he doesn't see that the way to get Stevie is to work with Christine instead. He could have an FM album. He wouldn't have to worry about doing any of those Christine songs in concert, because he could just do Miss Fantasy with Stevie, in addition to Sad Angel and Without You, so the Christine stuff could just be on record. It would generate tremendous publicity. First time together since 1997 (well I know it's 1998, but the media doesn't).
I think the buzz it would cause might help him on his solo tours. Why he doesn't want this as an option is beyond me. Also, to repeat, if he did that and started recording with Christine he'd have to beat Stevie off anyway. So, if he'd work with Christine he wouldn't need Stevie (and would still have her on tour), but he would get her, anyway like it or not. She would run to him down whichever Christine road he chose.
I think Mick understands this, but what is Lindsey's deal?

It's not an album, just some EP's. The album idea got canned because of her.
I don't think pride is really a issue for Stevie. She has kissed the right ass to get collaborations or to get on tv shows. She is a smart gal. Fleetwood Mac is selling a ton of tickets because of her. If she doesn't want to do, she doesn't want to do it.

But I think Lindsey is into it. After SYW he said that he would never have to do solo projects again, if they could keep new FM music going. Obviously, that didn't work out and he may realize that he and Stevie are not going to work together on new tunes again, because she doesn't want to, but I think he would still be into FM, if for no other reason than that he can get his own songs more exposure with that name on them.
I mean, it may be a cynical justification and I'm not saying it's Lindsey's primary one. I'm just saying that for many reasons, including that one, I don't think he's over Fleetwood Mac today, though he used to be 20 years ago, maybe.

Fleetwood Mac brings more new songs, says Lindsey Buckingham
Dominique May 11, 2013 News
It's not even two weeks ago that Fleetwood Mac released an EP with four new recordings, but according to Lindsey Buckingham fans can look forward to more unreleased tracks from the band.
In the recently released Extended Play , the three recent tracks Sad Angel, It Takes Time and Miss Fantasy, supplemented by a much older version of the Without You (from the period in which Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were not yet members of Fleetwood Mac). In an interview with Billboard Buckingham reports that eight new songs were completely written and recorded with producer Mitchell Froom, and that the other compositions also true: "It is perhaps too early to say where it leads all go, but I can say that you're going to hear more. than these four songs of Fleetwood Mac The only question is how and when, you know? "
The singer and guitarist is an EP an excellent way to bring out new music: "When I was growing up, there were lots of EPs. Albums were not really an art form. It revolved around singles and in some ways is that now also so. It is very tempting to turn. Three or four numbers on a ep That can be very effective. I have no pre-conceptions of what Fleetwood Mac is going to do or what the band should do. You just do what you can do and what seems logical. "
Former colleague Christine McVie had recently been know to be open for a guest appearance during shows of her old band in London, but Buckingham is convinced that they never come back to the band. However McVie has recently dined in Los Angeles with the rest, says Buckingham, "That was great fun, because she was exactly the same as before and they made me laugh. There was always a good chemistry between the two of us and it clicked right back when I saw her, and that's incredible. I would like to see them comes the stage for Do not Stop when we are in England, but otherwise you will not draw much - even though I'm convinced that people will try. "

Photo: Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham has confirmed that they plan to continue releasing new material.
The recently reformed band put out their first new material in 10 years with their 'Extended Play' EP and, in an interview with Billboard, Buckingham said it was "safe to say" that they would be releasing more new songs in the future.
He said: It's safe to say there is more than these four songs that you're going to hear from Fleetwood Mac. It's just a question of how and when, you know?
Buckingham went on to add: "When I was growing up, EPs were all over the place. When I was growing up, albums were not really an art form; the single was the thing, and in some ways it has gotten back to that a little bit. The whole thing is just kind of wide open now, and it really is tantalising to be able to put together just a few things, three or four songs on an EP.
"There is something quite effective about that, for sure," he continued. "I have no preconceptions one way or the other in terms of what Fleetwood Mac will do or even what Fleetwood Mac should do. You just do what you can do and what makes sense logically - and politically.
The guitarist also insisted that former member Christine McVie - who is not part of the reformed line-up - was "never going to rejoin the band", but did reveal that the pair had recently spent time together at a reunion dinner in LA and suggested he would be open to her appearing onstage with them on their forthcoming tour.
"It was a trip, because she was the same old person I'd always known, and she was cracking me up," he said. "We'd always had just a great chemistry, the two of us, and we just kind of hit the ground running as soon as I saw her, which was kind of amazing. FLEETWOOD MAC PLANNING TO RELEASE MORE NEW MATERIAL

When Fleetwood Mac announced that they would release only a handful of new songs to coincide with their current tour, some thought it seemed like the act of a band on its last creative legs, grudgingly going into the studio in order to drum up interest in a series of lucrative concerts. However, in a new interview, Lindsey Buckingham said that there is more to come.
The guitarist told Billboard that the band recorded eight songs – four more than were released on last month’s ‘Extended Play‘ – and that they are looking for the right time to release them. “It may be too early to tell where things are going to go,” he said. “[But] it’s safe to say there is more than these four songs that you’re going to hear from Fleetwood Mac – it’s just a question of how and when, y’know?”
Buckingham added that changes in the music industry from Fleetwood Mac’s heyday made this possible. And now that they’re putting out their music independently, they have the creative freedom to see which new directions that leads to.
“When I was growing up, albums were not really an art form,” he continued. “The single was the thing, and in some ways it has gotten back to that a little bit. The whole thing is just kind of wide open now, and it really is tantalizing to be able to put together just a few things, three or four songs on an EP. There is something quite effective about that, for sure. I have no preconceptions one way or the other in terms of what Fleetwood Mac will do or even what Fleetwood Mac should do.”

I would much prefer an entire album, but the idea of EP's being released isn't too bad. After all these years, the fact they are releasing any new material makes me happy.

Here's how I see it. They are going to record two tracks with Stevie. She's going to sing duetparts and back-up on Lindsey's 5 Froomsongs. If he writes and records one other track, they only need a month do do that, and they will have another two 4-track EP's that they can put out independently in a year timeslot. Every EP has three LB songs and a SN song. That means FM buzz dripping for about a year. I think it's a fantastic modern way for drawing attention, it does not cost much, and they will not be prisoned in a Buckinghamworld for a year. Meanwhile, they can tour, do some theatretreks as Buckingham Nicks, tour Australia as FM, and a second leg USA in 2014-15.
Fleetwood Mac is Fleetwood Mac as long as Mick and John are in it. That's the name. With female singers or without female singers.
But you cannot record an EP with two songs on it where Mick is not there. So this EP is a bit of a false start in this thought.

I agree with you that that's what's he's going for, to a certain extent. That was his aim since SYW. But it seems to me he's already lost that battle. The writing is on the wall. She does not want to work with him. Look elsewhere. There's still great music to be made both solo and with FM.

They make most of their money because they're a nostalgia act, let's be honest, and I think they know that. I am excited about and I love that they are putting out new music, but no matter who the members in the band are, it's going to stay at a certain level of success and won't exceed that unless there's some weird fluke or something. And they'd have even LESS success if it were with anyone but these 4 (although they'd have more if Christine were there, of course, but that won't happen), so I just think it's kind of pointless. Taylor Swift is not going to join Fleetwood Mac.
I hope they can get more music out soon, though, because I really liked what the EP had to offer and I'd like to hear what else they can bring to the table.

New members for Fleetwood Mac? Sure. Maybe they'll sell out a garage in Fresno.
Did Lindsey ever categorically state that Stevie would not be doing any more songs? Or is all this just conjecture?
78 RPMs, IIRC could hold 4-6 songs, I think, by the way. So, that might be what he was referring to. They certainly were around in his day.

Fire Stevie and get another singer who ***has her own audience*** who will go to shows and records. There are many out there ***with LARGE followings*** who'd love to be in a band like Fleetwood Mac. Being beholden to Stevie Nicks makes no sense for a band called Fleetwood Mac, which has Lindsey Buckingham in it, especially when they're releasing stuff on their own.
"Fire Stevie"??? are you kidding.. Tango and Behind the Mask tours were huge draws. how did the Time tour do sans Stevie? they aren't stupid.

I don't how she'd take to being let go......it's obvious her heart's not in the band. Anyway we can throw this around all we want It'll never happen.

Why does everything always get put on Stevie? If the men want to record, they should just do so and say, "Stevie, we're recording an album." She either shows up or she doesn't. No need for her to be fired, no need for them to be beholden.

You know, they have all earned the right to do what they want. Seems like a mad dash for the finish line. Every man for himself.

The only artist worthy of joining the Mac is Iris DeMent.
As fun as it is to imagine some non-Stevie incarnations of Fleetwood Mac, at this point it's really only commercial interest that keeps Lindsey wanting to release work under the Mac name. Without Stevie, people just aren't going to buy into it, and there wouldn't be much point. Lindsey would be better off just working with John and Mick under his solo name. For it to work she's going to have to have some involvement, however half-assed. Which (and I say this as a diehard Stevie fan) is really too bad.
I like the idea of casually "dropping" EPs as you make them, though. I think an EP can be an artistic statement just as much as an album can be, although I don't think they've done that here. But the Mac has always been more of an individual-song band, for me, rather than a listen-to-the-full-album band, so it doesn't bother me much.

Why work on an album with Mick and John under Lindsey's own name while it IS Fleetwood Mac? Of course it has annother appeal with Stevie; But why not use the name? I really don't see that. Especially if Lindsey keeps all creative possibility's open for the rythmsection like he did with the Froomtracks, according to Mick himself? let's be fair: M&J wrap Sad Angel and Miss Fantasy up as Fleetwood Mac. Those songs really DIFFER from Lindsey's solo-approach because of them.
Why work on an album with Mick and John under Lindsey's own name while it IS Fleetwood Mac?
Because most people won't get it. They'll be confused. They'll write it off. And then the name Fleetwood Mac would no longer equate to massive commercial draw and big bucks for the band. The rhythm section of a band just isn't what is identifiable about it to most music listeners. People identify with lead singers/instrumentalists and songwriting. The fact that they are legally entitled to use the name Fleetwood Mac is by the by. Lindsey's idea is to give these songs a wider audience than they'd get on a solo record. And that isn't going to happen if the lineup changes.

That's a fact for all bands in general. Fleetwood Mac is an exception on the rule. And they all are 65+ soon. I agree with you what Lindsey's purpose is, but if Stevie is not on it with own songs, they still can use the name. And they should.
Perhaps they will. But I don't think it's a gamble they're willing to take at this stage in their careers. And it would be a gamble. People are unlikely to turn out in droves, shelling out ridiculous amounts of cash for a Fleetwood Mac concert if the name now means "just" Lindsey Buckingham + Rhythm section. And I don't think that's something the guys want to lose. Maybe I underestimate people. We shall see.

Let's be honest here. By December (after they tour Austrailia and New Zealand which I'm sure they will) they will all be exhausted. Lindsey and Stevie will be itching to get back to their solo careers. I bet Lindsey takes the recorded Mac stuff and turns it into a solo album.

I don't think she's through recording solo, but I am unsure how likely it is that she will record again with FM. Believe Me, I wish she would!!

disagree about the concert part. people are turning up to see legendary band while they are still around. like they do for many other iconic bands.... even though most of the main members may be dead or not interested in whatever the band is doing. in FM's case, audiences seem pleasantly surprised how great they actually still are in concert.
i do agree that in FM's specific case, if they loose 2 of their 3 front people in concert, that wouldn't work. neither would replacing one of them (Stevie) however huge the replacement might be... it would make them a lounge act, as someone said ;). at least imo.
although, you do have examples of parts of 2 legendary bands teaming up for shows singing each others songs and doing apparently really well (Queen and Bad Company?), but i personally don't like that.
most of the people turning up at FM shows don't care one bit whether FM has new songs or not and who is a part of those songs. same with other dinosaur bands that can make huge money touring these days. FM having some new songs however, makes them seem relevant and not only nostalgia act, even though they make their money on being a nostalgia act.

I don't think it's particularly likely and my point was to wonder why that's the case. There's no good reason why she shouldn't. I think she could be persuaded to do so. In fact, I think she'd rather record with FM than solo. She wasn't ever thrilled about solo albums in the first place. I think she's up for a group recording. Why isn't she being asked, is my question.
At one point, Stevie said that Christine even knew that Stevie and Lindsey wanted to sing alone. I think that during The Dance Stevie and Lindsey did this grand revisiting of their past and maybe it looked like they could capture what they would have been had they not joined. So, maybe around 1998 everyone was feeling that maybe Stevie and Lindsey would just go on together and live the BN.
They did, but it didn't turn out to be the dream they might have envisioned. Whether Lindsey is satisfied with SYW or not, Stevie wasn't. Ten years later, she still doesn't want to record with him, so whatever they were thinking in 1997 that has failed. Enough time has passed to see if it would work out. It hasn't. Give up that idea. They can tour together, but if he wants FM music, there are other ways to get it than in continuing to hope Stevie changes her mind. If he, John and Mick turned to Christine to work on music with them, I don't see Christine refusing.

I think your point about hurting the brand is a good one. That almost happened with the Time tour (I am not denigrating time. I am not saying that John and Mick are not Fleetwood Mac. I am just saying that because it wasn't what fans expected, when they bought tickets to the Time tour, it hurt the marketability of the name "FM") and I think Mick is quite conscious of that. Men of Mac is probably the best option -- unless they have a woman. They can use one of two women. With the resurgence of Everywhere in the UK this year, there is no better time to do that than right now.

There's no reason to pressure her to tour. That's the point. If they don't realize this, they should. If there's anyone who really thinks she has to tour to record -- and I don't know if there really is or if that's just the story they tell the press -- then that person can be placed into therapy and I'd like to read the doctor's report as to why they think this and what steps need to be taken to make them stop thinking this.
They can tour with Stevie and record with Christine and no matter what's on their album, they can still sing some "new" songs with Stevie on stage, Miss Fantasy Sad Angel, Without You, etc.
Michele

i like this! it preserves nostalgia act with 2 of 3 FM singers so they can happily continue doing their cash grabs, but we get both new music and tours:
if Christine has new songs to contribute they should record with her and continue releasing EPs or maybe even the whole album.
if Christine doesn't want to tour and Stevie does, they can continue to tour as this year, with Christine's appearances from time to time, like London. or maybe Stevie can tour with them in the US, and Christine in Europe where she can travel by land? :)

Yes, it is. So it seems overly dramatic for people to say she needs to be fired or that she is preventing the recording of new material. She doesn't need to be fired, and nobody is preventing anything. The men can do whatever they want, and Stevie can take it or leave it.

"That was great fun, because she was exactly the same as before and they made me laugh. There was always a good chemistry between the two of us and it clicked right back when I saw her, and that's incredible. I would like to see them comes the stage for Do not Stop when we are in England, but otherwise you will not draw much - even though I'm convinced that people will try. "

yes, translated from Dutch article using google translate. this was original billboard article text:
"That was great fun. It was very interesting to see what that extra piece of the puzzle does to the overall equation," Buckingham recalls. "It was a trip, because she was the same old person I'd always known, and she was cracking me up. We'd always had just a great chemistry, the two of us, and we just kind of hit the ground running as soon as I saw her, which was kind of amazing. If she wants to come up and do 'Don't Stop' with us when we're in England, I'd love to see that. But beyond that I think there's not too much you can make out of it -- although I'm sure people will try."

Everyone seems to have forgotten that after IYD Stevie said she didn't want to do another album unless Dave Stewart is involved. I think she's simply sticking to that, and that's why there's only an EP instead of a full-blown Mac album.
MAYBE Lindsey and the rest can convince her to get an album together but at this point I think what we'll be seeing going forward are Mac EPs and tours and Nicks solo albums and Buckingham solo albums.

I don't think Stevie is as stupid as many peg her and I definitely think once she has "more" material down she may hand a few over to the Mac. I've always thought one more, final album was in the cards and I still think so before everyone calls it a day. Stevie knows the Mac is her calling-card and her cash cow so I doubt she'd pass it up. And with the new music being praised and well-received by both those who've purchased the EP and those seeing them on tour, I think she'll see the light in the end if she isn't already seeing it.

After 45 years, 16 members, more than 100 million albums sold and tabloid-filling interband dynamics, Fleetwood Mac sits in a place of relative — and uncharacteristic — calm and confidence these days.
“We never break up,” says singer Stevie Nicks, “We just take a break and do our own things, and when it’s time (to work as Fleetwood Mac) everybody’s ready.
“That makes it really special and something everybody looks forward to. It’s like a big, fantastic Halloween party when you haven’t been to a Halloween party in three years.”
The group is, in fact, all dressed up for its first tour in three years, accompanied by four new songs released digitally as “Extended Play” this spring. And singer-guitarist Lindsey Buckingham — who joined Fleetwood Mac with then-girlfriend Nicks in 1975, ushering in a prolonged era of multiplatinum success with hit albums such as “Fleetwood Mac,” “Rumours” and “Tusk” — gushes that the group “is playing better or as well as we’ve ever played.”
“It’s funny how in the whole arc of Fleetwood Mac the perception seems to change,” notes Buckingham, 63, whose subsequent breakup with Nicks is partly chronicled on the “Rumours” album. “There’s something cyclical or generational that goes on. I’m not sure what it is but this time there seems to be real enhanced appreciation for the body of work we have, not just the hits. And there seem to be a lot of young people at the shows — not that there haven’t been before, but there seem to be more this time.
“It’s kind of a lovefest between Stevie and me out there, too, which is very sweet, so I’m having a great time out there, and we’re just killing it as far as I’m concerned.”
Certainly breathing some enthusiasm into Mac world this year is the presence of new music — the group’s first since 2002’s “Say You Will” album. “Extended Play” started in Fleetwood Mac’s latest hiatus, during which both Buckingham and Nicks released and promoted solo albums. Nicks made a documentary about hers, titled “In Your Dreams.” She was also part of Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players, promoting his film “Sound City: Real to Reel” — all of which kept her busy enough to shoot down initial plans for a Fleetwood Mac tour in 2012.
“A band like Fleetwood Mac needs to be out of the spotlight for three years, at least,” Nicks explains. “That way when we come back, it’s an event. I think that’s very important. You didn’t just see us a year and a half ago, so when there’s a lot of famous bands out and a lot of important people out, you’re going to make a choice of which ticket to buy, and if you’ve not seen one of the bands in three years, that’s gonna be the top of the list.”
Buckingham, meanwhile, decided to fill that time by bringing drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie — who formed Fleetwood Mac in England during 1968 as a blues-rock band — from Hawaii, where they live, to his home studio in Los Angeles.
"I had a lot of (ideas) sitting around that I thought would be great to do,” Buckingham recalls. “So John and Mick came over and, without any particular idea of what we were going to do with it, we just cut tracks.”
Working with co-producer Mitchell Froom, the trio laid down eight songs, three of which — “Sad Angel,” “It Takes Time” and “Miss Fantasy” — were finished. Then, just before the group started tour rehearsals in February, Buckingham says, “the idea of having these new songs came to light again. I brought the idea up to Stevie, and she wanted to bring in this one song that she had.”
That turned out to be “Without You,” which Nicks describes as “an old Buckingham Nicks song that, really, we can’t figure out why it didn’t go on the (‘Buckingham Nicks’) record because we have the most amazing demo of it.
“I was considering it for ‘In Your Dreams,’ but I thought, ‘This needs to wait for whenever the next Buckingham Nicks record comes out’ or something like that.’”
So in short order, Buckingham continues, “we went from just dropping a couple tracks on iTunes to suddenly having three and then four songs, so we decided to make it an EP, and that’s the way it went.”
“Nobody really cares about albums anymore, anyway,” adds Nicks, 65 — even though she herself doesn’t have a computer or spend time with iTunes. “It’s just nice to have a little bit of product so that people can at least hear how we sound today. And it’s exciting. These songs sound like we’re 30. It’s really wild to me. We’ve never stopped, you know, and so everything we do sounds extremely young to me.”
And the fact that at least five more songs remain from the initial Buckingham-Fleetwood-McVie sessions mean that more Fleetwood Mac music may surface soon.
“It’s safe to say there is more than these four songs that you’re going to hear from Fleetwood Mac — it’s just a question of how and when, y’know?” Buckingham predicts. “I have no preconceptions one way or the other in terms of what Fleetwood Mac will do or even what Fleetwood Mac SHOULD do. You just do what you can do and what makes sense logically — and politically.
“The whole thing is just kind of wide open now, and it really is tantalizing to be able to put together just a few things, three or four songs on an EP. There is something quite effective about that, for sure.

^Most of this has been posted before in other interviews and the "enhanced appreciation" by the audience has been quoted before. But in this write up Lindsey said that the audience seems to be enjoying everything, not just the hits and I thought that was interesting.
They perceive that people like songs like Sad Angel, Without You, NTF and SOTM and that's a good thing. Maybe in the future, they won't be so afraid to include the new or obscure songs in the set.
