As a longtime Stevie Nicks fan, I can't remember the last time I felt this disenchanted as a fan. In one respect, this year we have had a new song (You Can't Fix This) and an actual movie released, and she is touring with Fleetwood Mac. But on the other hand, she is basically completely uninvolved with the EP Project (sounds like she was in the studio with the band for about 4 hours), and I am just not that interested in watching the same old Fleetwood Mac Soap Opera for hundreds of dollars.

Where is Stevie Nicks headed as an artist? I just fear that this Fleetwood Mac greatest hits tour (that is really the only thing you can call this) is going to last at least a year.... and by that point Stevie will lose her creative streak yet again.

She basically gave Fleetwood Mac the middle finger with their latest EP project- is there a reason for that? Does she have big plans to release more music as a solo artist in the near future? In terms of logistics, I simply don't understand what the hell is going on!

Does anyone else feel this way? It's hard for me to be even remotely excited about a FM tour when Stevie herself doesn't seem interested in being a part of the band anymore. It just leaves an icky taste in my mouth.

It would have been nice for her to have more involvement in the EP, yes. She should have presented a song they could record and have it not fall under a Lindsey song, or duet. That would have been nice. In other terms, nah, It's a very exciting time for me to be a Stevie fan. I think she has lots of energy, is enjoying the tour, and I got to see her for the first time ever!

And I don't think she needs to head anywhere as an artist right now, she's already BEEN there ;)

I hear ya. I have no idea why she's not involved in this EP and I don't know what's going on either. She spent 4 days at Lindsey's house to put vocals on the tracks, why didn't she give him a couple of new songs? Or why didn't she send new music from the road to him when the rest of the band were recording?? TerraRhiannon is right in a way, she doesn't have to go anywhere artistically, she's been there but us "old timers" want something new from her. WY is hardly new, even if we wouldn't have heard the demo, it's still not a new song because she wrote it back in the BN days.

I think some people will just never be satisfied, period.

For some perspective, Stevie has been arguably busier in the past twelve months than she has been her entire career:

-She appeared in three documentary films, including one she co-directed and produced.
-She toured solo behind her recently released solo album.
-She toured solo with Rod Stewart.
-She toured with Fleetwood Mac.
-She recorded a few Fleetwood Mac songs and released an EP.
-She wrote, recorded and released a new song with the Foo Fighters.
-She performed at several intimate theatre/club shows with the Sound City Players around the U.S.
-She appeared at several film festivals around the U.S. and Canada, and even dropped by SXSW.
-She taped a television special with Lady Antebellum.
-She taped an episode of Oprah's Master Class.

New songs, concerts, TV appearances, films, live Q&As... exactly what else do you expect of this woman? And she's sober to boot.

Get a grip.

Frankly, I don't think I need to get a grip. But thank you for the advice. Most everything you listed above is not very exciting for fans that want new music. I love Stevie Nicks- because I love her music and her songs! Stevie performing Gold Dust Woman at Film Festivals does nothing for me. I want her to continue to be creative and relavent. This is not a bash towards Stevie- she can do whatever she wants. I'm just feeling like all these little things and mini tours and EP songs are adding up to a whole lot of nothing artistically speaking.

This is my take on it from a "new fan" perspective. I think that as you get older it becomes more and more important for you to do things that YOU want to do. To live your life for you and not for anyone else. As you get older you develop the courage to do that. When you are younger I think in general (not true for everyone) it is more important to please other people, do what is expected from you.....

I think Stevie enjoyed the four days spent in Lindsey's bunker putting vocals on the songs but I think the reason she didn't give him new songs is because a: they are now on good terms and after having a good writing experience with Dave Stewart she doesn't want to go back to having some criticize her writing
and b: her adding songs would have gotten them closer to putting out an entire album and she knows that putting out an album means a whole of extra work promoting it and extra touring to back up the album and she doesn't want to do all that work with FM.
I do think she is enjoying the FM tour now that they are on the road and it seems like it is more fun than she thought it would be, but I still think she rather put out one more solo record instead of a new FM record. That is why she did not hand over any new songs for FM to record.

But that is just an opinion from a brand new FM/Stevie Nicks fan :o

Well she spent all of 2011 and 2012 focussing her attention on In Your Dreams, a project that she loves a lot. It's very difficult to walk away from one project and jump into another when you're still so wrapped up in the first. It has been stated many times that she was deeply effected by the death of her mother and contrary to Internet rumors she did not go into a songwriting frenzy to make a tribute album for her mom. I'm sure she has written stuff about her mom but perhaps it's still too soon to want to sing about it.
Another thing to consider is she did have all these other commitments (the documentary, the Sound City gigs etc) which left her kind of busy so she wouldn't have been that involved with a new Mac album anyhow. Since 1987 any Mac album (with Lindsey) has been born out of his solo album, so this is nothing new. Maybe she's planning on doing another solo album and what songs she does have she's holding for that.
Simple fact is its not 1983 anymore, she's getting older, she doesn't HAVE to do anything, she could just go the Christine McVie route and say "been fun, see ya!". Instead she's out there being quite active actually. If you choose to skip this "greatest hits" tour that's your loss, it's one of their best shows since 1997. Besides, at this point you never know when or if they may ever hit the stage again. This could all end at any time.

I totally agree with you and since I am in my early 30' and was not around back in the golden days of the 70's and quite recently REALLY discovered FM's music I am SOOOO grateful that they are doing this tour so that I get to see them live at least once!

This is the truth. If Stevie looks like her heart isn't in FM any more, then it's because her heart isn't in FM any more. In common with Buckingham and Fleetwood, she loves the money, loves the glamour, loves the profile that FM provides, but I think her priority is more solo work with Dave Stewart, and other people like him who don't fundamentally lack respect for her as an artist in her own right.

For people who are disenchanted, I have this advice: just drop her. Drop her and follow someone else. Or take up reading. Stevie's fans won't miss you.

Exactly!

I might be naive but people do change, and people do get older and no matter how much we would like to, she is not gonna be the same Stevie, have the same voice (your vocal chords change as you get older no matter how well you take care of them) and she cannot have the same hopes, dreams and aspirations as she did 30 years ago.

And if I were the one who kept feeling disenchanted I would like to think that I would treasure the "good memories" and let it go....

I am in the same camp as diamondsnake, and it is all because of the lack of new music, especially seeing her ignore the opportunity to work with Lindsey and make new FM music. Too many years of too little product. I will keep following but will keep my hopes low. I actually consider Stevie fundamentally retired now as a songwriter and creater.

I can't believe nobody has noticed this, but Stevie CANNOT write like she used to. IYD was only as brilliant as it was because of Dave Stewart's involvement. Stevie cannot do it anymore.

Think about it -

Constant tours with the same setlist
Tours promoting Greatest Hits packages
Litterally decades between new material
Unnecessary cover versions to make up for lack of new material in live sets

I think Lindsey will expect Stevie to bring something new to the table as was always the way, but she just can't write like she used to anymore and would only have old demo's to bring that would be of the quality Lindsey would expect.

Don't get me wrong, I worship the woman and always will. But she is nearly 65 - you can't expect her to be able to write at the amount and quality that she used to. And I think deep down, the fact that she really cannot do it like she used to upsets her greatly and is a big struggle for her.

Actually I feel just the opposite. Yes, I would have liked Stevie to be more involved in the EP (though I haven't heard it yet) but I think her collaboration with Dave Stewart (album and documentary) has really ignited her creative spark again. In my opinion, I feel she's just biding her time with FM right now, and will be heading back into the studio as a solo artist when this tour wraps up. At least I hope so. I honestly don't think we will see another FM album because, as you've noted, I don't think Stevie has any interest in being part of that. Who knows, maybe she feels she needs to make up for her 10 year solo drought.

Although the tour you tube videos have been impressive, I'm not going to any shows on the tour as I see it as simply a cash grab that I can't afford. Kind of reminds me of a CEO raking in millions while expecting workers to take a 50% pay cut which has happened in the corporate world. All that said, I remain interested in the band from a creativity point of view and both Stevie and Lindsey have shown us they still have some great songs left in them. I thought You Can't Fix This was the closest Stevie has come to her Fleetwood Mac greatness in about 30 years and the new songs on the EP continue to showcase Lindsey at the top of his game. So, after 36 years as a fan, I'm still interested to see what they have for new music but I have retired the concert scene.

It has been only two years since she released a new album. And she has released new songs with/without Fleetwood Mac in the interim. ADHD much? She writes all of her own songs, which involves taking time to live life and be inspired. Jeez... would Stevie's music be any good if she was just some robotron cranking out songs just for the sake of crapping out an album every year? If you're looking for someone who prioritizes quantity over quality, you are definitely not following the right artist(s).

The amount of entitlement around here is astounding.

The only thing I feel "blah" about lately is the samples I heard of the new FM EP. Totally not impressed at all. Same old Lindsey "Peacekeeper" stuff, imo. Stevie is barely there. They sound detached. Stevie sounds like she recorded her parts on the telephone or something. (Bad production, I guess?) I decided not to buy it, even tho the 4 songs were cheaper than my frozen yogurt yesterday.

In regards to the idea of Stevie losing her creativity and ability to write good songs, that's just ludicrous. And IYD only being as great as it is because of Dave? Please. She knows what she wants her songs to sound like and not sound like. He just helped her (brilliantly) get there.

Guys i'm just f-ing ecstatic that my favorite band, though well into their 60's, are still touring and working on putting out new music. I love Lindsey's new songs. I love the lyrics and the meanings behind them. I love Stevie's back-up on them. I love the setlist, the shows, all of it. We're lucky to even have them still together and touring.

As for Stevie's involvement. There's no surprise there, IMO. I think we all know how she feels about FM work. I remember a few different interviews in the 90s where she says she much prefers making solo records because when she's making those.. everybody who's there actually wants to be there, and nothing's awkward or boring, and she's the boss, and there's nobody there to make fun of her or fight with her or be sarcastic to her.
We all know she has some material. She's mentioned a couple songs that she's had Dave working on lately. I think she's just waiting to put it out on her own solo record. Her contract still calls for one more, doesn't it? I think that's more what she's aiming for than giving all her songs to FM.

This is a setlist from some concert in 2011:

01. Stand Back
02. Annabel Lee
03. Dreams
04. Sorcerer
05. Moonlight
06. Gold Dust Woman
07. Ghosts Are Gone
08. Soldiers Angel (w/Sharon & Lori)
09. In Your Dreams
10. Rhiannon
11. For What It's Worth
12. Secret Love
13. Leather and Lace (w/Steve Real)
14. Edge of 17
(encore)
15. Love Is

Like she doesn't do new songs or songs from her last couple albums during her shows.... pfft.

Stevie has been active and making new music, documentaries, and collaborations, and all she gets here is fans saying they are feeling blah about her. :sorry: I know this is a place to express your opinions, but for God sakes, at every turn she isn't living up to someone's ridiculous expectations.

well I can't speak for everyone but my knickers are in a twist because a thread like this doesnt make sense right now. If you posted it in 2010, sure it'd make tons of sense. But the fact that we have IYD, the sound city players thing with You can't fix this and the kick ass collaboration concerts with the foo fighters. Plus as TerraRhiannon has demonstrated, her set lists have been amazing on the 2 year IYD tour, even including a one time New Orleans performance.

And to the she doesnt write good songs anymore comment.. bullsh*t maybe you didn't like IYD but the vast majority of us love it. And my personal favorite song she's released this decade is You Cant Fix This.

Her involvement in the EP is disappointing. the fact that Without You is her sole contribution is pathetic, but a thread like this is a total over reaction to that.

Stevie does not have to write new tunes .She can recycle some of her demos rerecord them for a new CD for FM and herself.Which she does.

She can still write.I cant take that from her.

About the EP which reminds me when I read these threads think of politics with the parties split down the middle or lopsided when they try to pass a bill.

All the Lindsey fans are saying yippy and the Stevie fans say blah.

Yes I agree that wish there was more Stevie on the EP but she had her hands on other projects at the time.Thats the way I see it..

Didn't FM make the EP while Stevie was coping with her mother's death? Maybe she did the bare minimum to make sure she was actually involved? Her other projects have taken up large amounts of her time, so maybe she wants to see how the EP will fare before committing herself to an album. So, like, in Stevie's eyes, she's done her part.

I don't think she's artistically done though. You Can't Fix This is an excellent song, and she and Lindsey both sound great on the EP.

I went to her concert last year and loved it. I adore In Your Dreams, and I loved the documentary and saw it in theaters. I was in the audience for her Letterman performance of YCFT this year. I think all of that is great!

But the FM EP is pathetic and does leave a bad taste in my mouth. Its hard to be excited about FM when Stevie herself seems so uninterested. My posting of this thread is in reaction to that. I feel weird as a fan. Am I supposed to be excited about FM when Stevie is barely involved? I feel blah and I am sorry it upsets everyone. I mean, it upsets me! I wish I could be more excited about this FM project....

PS: I love Sad Angel. I think maybe if they just released Sad Angel as a single, and Without You as a B Side, that would have made more sense. Oh, and take one promo picture together. It would seem more logical maybe?

I've been a fan since the late seventies and get just as excited about new Stevie music today as I did back then.

I think Stevie has plenty of creativity left in her. Though I do think she's gotten somewhat lazy with her writing, her songs remain imaginative, dramatic, and full of emotion.

What I do miss is the spontaneity of the old days. It used to be that when you went to a Stevie Nicks concert, you never knew what to expect. That's not the case these days. Everything is scripted, she wears the same clothes night after night. And she sings the songs in the same way show after show. There's very little variety.

I also worry about her voice. In the past few years, especially, it has lost a lot of that softness and beauty that once was so appealing. It's very harsh and monotonal these days, more so than it's ever been. And I think this is really evident on the EP tracks.

All of this aside, Stevie still remains the one artist who can move me like no other, and she's always the one I turn to to pull me out of the doldrums and make me feel alive. For that, I am forever a fan.

Ditto - some of these comments are nothing short of ridiculous. Everyone has a right to state their opinion about the music without people making such ugly and vicious comments about other users. The ones that don't like this thread shouldn't be reading it in the first place - the title gave a good indication of what it is about. I thought the original post was thoughtful, tastefully written and needs to be stated.

I love the post above. So many people here just to stir people up. Thanks for the chuckle!!

I felt "blah" as a Stevie fan between TIMESPACE and STREET ANGEL. The Stevie we are seeing all over the place today far surpasses how little we saw of her or about her in the early 90s. With all the stuff she's done in the last couple years, I'm super interested.

I couldn't agree more. I already posted something similar to this on the FM RUMOURS LINEUP SECTION. See my "Open Letter To The Mac" (no need to restate the details). Some posters agreed with me, while others called for me to be publicly hanged for voicing my opinion. I greatly enjoyed the whole creative process that went on during "In Your Dreams". I was hoping the creative streak would continue into this new MAC project.....no such luck. This new "ep" is a Lindsey Buckingham solo record, plain and simple.
The "In Your Dreams" tour was wonderful.....new material, artistic freedom. Frankly, I do not buy tickets to a Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac concert to hear her sing "Gold Dust Women" for the 100th time. Still, I've decided that I will support this tour. I will be sitting in the audience as I've done every tour since 1977 (as a 6 year old child).

I guess everyone is just glossing over the fact that this woman will be 65 next month. That's the age to become eligible for Medicare. God forbid she slow down after the pace of IYD (sidebar...I always read that is IUD), the tours, the documentaries, the Q and A's, Sundance, etc. Maybe she's just as bored with FM as everyone else? It's essentially a boys club these days with Mick/Lindsey calling the shots, at least that's how I perceive it.

I actually saw more fire in her version of GDW with the Sound City fellas than any FM performance post 1997. She could just be over the whole thing.

I think that you make some great points here. I'll never be like it used to be for most of us fans. It is what it is really. There's nothing wrong with anyone's opinion really. It doesn't make you any less of a 'fan' cause you don't feel the same that you did when you started liking Stevie and Mac. I've been a fan since '88 and I have my ups and downs as a fan. I just know that Stevie & Mac could release many things that US fans would love but they don't which I'll not ever understand. If not them there other family members will at some point and time I'm sure. But most of us would love it now not 20yrs or so from now when I'll be too old to care myself. I could make lists of things I'd love. I just don't expect it now. Blah can be a good word but it is what it is. I have no ill feelings toward anyones comments or how they feel. To me you have the right I guess just as Stevie and Mac have the right to do what they want to or don't. Again it is what it is now. Life goes on and on and on:D:shrug:

Stevie does not have to write new tunes .She can recycle some of her demos rerecord them for a new CD for FM and herself.Which she does.

She can still write.I cant take that from her.

About the EP which reminds me when I read these threads think of politics with the parties split down the middle or lopsided when they try to pass a bill.

All the Lindsey fans are saying yippy and the Stevie fans say blah.

Yes I agree that wish there was more Stevie on the EP but she had her hands on other projects at the time.Thats the way I see it..

I'm kinda feeling blah now. Only because the past couple years were great. We had seen stevie do some things she's never done. Like the whole in your dreams doc. And album. All the videos that were put out. The songwriting. The Dave grohl doc. You can't fix this. Then I hear the songs from the Ep and I'm like BLAH! She's hardly there. And they release an ep that stands for extended play and title it 'extended play' BLAH!
I guess after the last 2 years my expectations were set higher. But I will take into consideration she did lose her mother kinda unexpectedly. But I think that if an ep or lp was an idea that they would at least hold off until she was ready to add to it.
I bought 3 of the 4 songs. Even tho it sounded like a Lindsey album with Stevie singing harmony

You're right - she was just busy with In Your Dreams documentary, and the Sound City business.. and it was being recorded (the EP) right when her Mother passed on. I'm not surprised she wasn't more involved in the Ep, therefore I'm not disappointed. I'm thinking we will get new Stevie material in a new album or an actual Fleetwood Mac album in the future.

And I'm just now realizing that "Extended Play" is the long version of "EP."
I must have stared at that title for a long time wondering why in the world they would go with a title like this. Oh, Fleetwood Mac.

I feel like right now, Stevie is actually very emotionally invested in her music, moreso now than since 1983, maybe. If Fleetwood Mac had not come calling, I would not be at all surprised to hear that her and Dave were already recording again. I really believe that In Your Dreams was that good for Stevie - it gave her back enthusiasm for recording new songs, after a decade of music peopel telling her it wasn't worth it. She even said in the documentary that she wanted to see if it was still possible to record an album the old fashioned way, and it seems certain from her statements over the past two years that she had a really, really good time and accomplished what she set out to do. The creative release must have been a magnificent feeling for her. Why woudn't she want to do it again, right away?

That said, I don't believe she can have this experience with Lindsey. It's just not possible. I would bet that she hasn't really had that experience with Lindsey since 1975. She seems, to me, to feel dominated by his opinions and his influence over her songs. Surely, that sucks, and probably doesn't feel like a fun collaboration. So she looks the other way. Granted, Lindsey has done some incredible work - honest - one could even credit his work on her early material as the very reason she has been successful at all.

But that doesn't mean it's fun for her. So that brings me back to her emotional investment in her music: why shred her (and his) soul again to make songs that are going to turn out feeling like compromises? It's a lot of energy to expend, to take the risk that the end result will be unwanted or unliked or to feel like you maybe disengaged from your work and the effect is noticable in the songs. For this EP, she showed up, smiled, nodded, and contributed vocals to material that she had no emotional investment in, and went on the road. I think the EP and tour is a way for her to test the waters and see if it's worth it to her to go through it again, to put herself in that position again, to postpone a solo album to make a Fleetwood Mac album, to sacrifice the number of songs she can release, to maybe not like the end result. On the other hand, she could work with Dave again.

It could all be different this time with Lindsey, Mick and John - or it could all be the same.

In her shoes, where would your interest be?

I think she loves Fleetwood Mac Heart and Soul...from the beginning she said, "I am like the little sister because I don't play" bla bla....when she went solo...she knocked everyone with a huge cultlike fanbase evolving, her non stop touring, charity, public appeaences....and most recently, her Mum died, she finished her tour...like always, Fleetwood Mac cut the album without her...(mirage, tango, extended play) I can understand her missingness...the songs weren't heavy productionwise...and once again, her vocals were threaded in thin layers. I think of jealousies in a way...and She dearly misses her female comrade, Christine. Imagine, a very young and happening woman for her age, always surrounded by her girlfriends...and taking 2 years of a tour in the boys club. It seems like hey you guys....yeah, yeah Stevie...anyway, Mick and John...where were we?

Get a grip.

Thank you. And if you want to go back another year, what about all those TV appearances she did for IYD. She never did that kind of media blitz before.....maybe Leno or Letterman and that was it. Then there was her cameo on "Up All Night." And her mentoring session on "American Idol." I saw Stevie doing all kinds of new things after the release of IYD. I haven't felt at all blah the last two years. In fact, I've been completely invigorated, and I'm a fan since 1981.

This. Everyone respects Christine's decision to retire (and she's been gone for 15 years), but if Stevie slows down at all, it's a huge disappointment. Take a look at some of the other acts who were hitting the charts the same time as "Rhiannon" and "Dreams." Stevie has fared quite well.

I am definitely not feeling "blah" at all!

I cannot tell you how excited I have been the past few months between the documentary (still "high" from that and getting to ask a question at a Q&A in LA) and the tour this year.

It is probably a very different experience for those of you who have been fans since before I was even born and have been able to see Stevie and FM in concert multiple times- I can see why you would not be as excited right now.

But I have never seen FM live, and I never thought I would get the chance (I would not have guessed that they would still be touring at ages 65+ when I can finally afford to see them). I just think I am incredibly lucky to be a fan right now- Stevie is clean, happy, and still recording and touring. I feel super privileged that I am going to get to see my favorite band and singer ever, perform live. (Compared to maybe young fans of Janis Joplin, for example- they will never get the experience I'm going to have).

Anyway, all the magic is still there for me- I love the new EP and of course I wish there was more Stevie, but I love the songs that are there- so no complaints from me!

Honestly though, I don't think I would even be mad if Stevie never recorded again- I still get butterflies, and all excited and fall in love all over again when I listen to the beautiful songs we do have - and I feel like we have such a special treat with all the demos we have to enjoy as well. But of course, that's just my opinion, and I can see why these things wouldn't be as exciting to everyone. ;)

Why does everyone get their knickers in such a twist over a thread like this? Those of us who are dissapointed shouldn't feel like they have to "drop" Stevie Nicks altogether. I adore her music and her. Why can't those of us that are a little dissapointed be able to express it here?

I am not asking for the moon and sky- I just feel like a lot of time is being wasted on nonsense if she truly does want to do a few more albums in her life.

When they played Boston all I can say since this version of Fleetwood Mac started to tour , there was one other show that came close ...., She was so animated and on! usually it looks as if she is bored and going through the paces ( especially if I go back and look at pictures and videos I've taken all the same right down to the expression and poses )

I think it would be great if she put that effort into every show , but I realize they are just working to collect the paycheck and at best like everyone she/they tolerate most of their co-workers .

Lindsey's solo career doesn't have the "thing" that Fleetwood Mac does, so I think less people hear about or purchase Lindsey's stuff.. unfortunately, cause he's a genius.

No, I would not really want to do that for the most part, but I do think he looks DELICIOUS around 1987. For instance, in the Seven Wonders video. When he goes by and Stevie strokes his hair, I do think, "Wow. He's like a strawberry sundae. Give me a spoon."

You have New Orleans and Soldier's Angel being taken from the headlines and it will certainly be the same this time.

And the point made earlier that she has to experience life in between new music just to have something to write about is a good one. In IYD she talked about seeing Twilight in Australia, the rain and fireworks during the Italian vacation, etc. and it's clear that while some may see this tour as a wasted year, the experience itself -- the traveling, the excitement, the friction, even the tedium of it all, will actually fuel creativity in the long run, not just replenish everyone's wallet.

This. If you think about it, there are so many significant songs that were written about or were inspired by touring/traveling. "After the Glitter Fades," "Fall from Grace," "Everybody Finds Out," "Sweet Girl," "Juliet," "I Miss You," "Destiny Rules," etc. Indeed, she's not going to get a lot of compelling inspiration by sheltering in her Santa Monica aerie by the sea.

We should all, write our own versions of what we think the lyrics to Stevie inevitable Boston song will be. And just how much it will be about how the event affected Stevie nicks. Hilarious.

But you know what? In sincerity, she could do something with Long Distance Winner. You know a message that the runners won in the end. That explosion didn't destroy them. A day of death and pain, but a victory in the end.

Also, "erase their hell" would work in such a song too. Erase the hell that they tried to create.

and don't forget they were holed up in the hotel the whole next day when the town was shut down. they were there right during the thick of it.

I kind of figured they jetted out of the city as soon as the show was over. Had no idea they were held up there... Glad I drove 5 hours away from that city as soon as possible, or we would have been stuck too.

I was wondering if they said, "get the **** out of Boston" after the show was over because a friend asked me if I thought any of the fans were stuck in Boston under lockdown, unable to return to their homes and you were one of the people that first came to mind.

I live in Boston the lock down in the city happen much later . the majority of the lockdown was in other towns and cities not Boston all of the police action took place in Watertown it was not horrible to staying home all day while those brave men and women get a job in a job well done ...... and considering most hotels have an early check out the band or anyone could have left by 11 12 o'clock that day

If FM was going to play that Friday night. It would of gotten canceled.

Speaking closing up the highways.I was lucky that I got home when hurricane Irene was coming up the coast and hitting Bethel NY when Stevie was there.I'm glad the she went on earlier because the state was closing up the highways do to the hurricane Irene.

That made me feel blah the next day after driving home in the hurricane.

I don't think I'd have wanted to drive through the city while that was going on, I would have stayed right in my hotel, thank you! No, but I felt incredibly safe walking around Boston on the day of the concert, with all the cops and what not

It was funny because we left the city - I know this is off topic - and we got to the Canadian border at about 5am, and they searched our vehicle (the americans), and then the canadian officers told us there was a shooting where we had come from. Good timing for us to leave! And if that concert would have been scheduled for Friday it definitely would have been cancelled - good timing, Fleetwood Mac!!!

When they played Boston all I can say since this version of Fleetwood Mac started to tour , there was one other show that came close ...., She was so animated and on! usually it looks as if she is bored and going through the paces ( especially if I go back and look at pictures and videos I've taken all the same right down to the expression and poses )

I think it would be great if she put that effort into every show , but I realize they are just working to collect the paycheck and at best like everyone she/they tolerate most of their co-workers .

f

I've heard many good things about the Boston show.
I think a tragedy motivates Stevie, and she does do all she can to be an entertainer.

The boredom, and the casual eye rolls at Lindsey when he was doing a solo or got a loud response from the crowd was a little uncomfortable to watch, honestly. But when she was on- wow. I couldn't look away.

Get a grip.

And so she should head out there and promote the things she makes and is involved in. That's all part of the job at the end of the day. No one forced her to do a lot of what you've listed anyway. She made the choice to record with the Foo Fighters, to film a cameo on a sitcom, make a documentary, tour with Rod Stewart and Fleetwood Mac. I guess it makes up for the fact that she was pretty much inactive and lazy as a recording artist for nearly a decade. I'm not surprised a lot of fans lost hope in her between TISL and IYD. As for the recording of the Fleetwood Mac EP. Four new FM songs in 10 years...big whoop! Stevie is basically a backing vocalist on the thing anyway.

Get a grip? This is a public forum and people can express whatever feelings they have.

Yes .I agree .This poor little thing worked her a$$ off for us fans.To see our faces which she loves to do and remember our faces by heart. To entertain us .I have to give Stevie all the credit for doing all of this work at her age.

Most people at that age are about to retire or retired and working part time at Walmart or with their grandchildren.

Poor little thing? Lol. She's not working in a factory in a third world country for next to nothing. She's a millionaire rock star promoting an album that will make her more money than most normal folk earn in 5 years. What a shame that she actually had to haul ass and promote her new record. I feel so sorry for her. Let's not forget she went 10 years without releasing hardly any new music and rightfully needed to get herself out there in 2011 to reintroduce herself to the public and let people know she had a new album out. I'm sure the 5 star hotels, jets and the royalties softened the blow of doing her job and making public appearances. Poor little thing indeed.

I really liked In Your Dreams and You Can't Fix This so as long as it's not a decade before another album I'm hunky dory in Stevie land. Fleetwood Mac isn't working but I accepted that a while back.

She was in her 50/60s in the space between TISL and IYD. so what if she wanted to be a little lazy for a near decade? I think she earned that.. what matter is she actually did go back out and make another album. And about the Fleetwood Mac EP thing.. while they were working on it, she was grieving her mother. And I think her harmonies and duets with Lindsey are beautiful here, and I bet she thinks so too. I bet she's as proud of the EP as Lindsey is.

Totally with TerraRhiannon on this.

I wonder if David Bowie gets as much flack for being completely inactive for a decade?

Or Kate Bush?

Or Christine McVie, for that matter?

A lot of my favourite artists are older people who aren't nearly as prolific as they once were and can pretty much afford to do or not do as they please. I don't get why people would upset by that. Stevie has a body of work to be proud of, whether or not it grows much after this. I get that new Stevie music is awesome, but it sounds like some people feel like she owes us more material, which just isn't the case.

This isn't really directed at the OP or anything. It's just a response to a general vibe I'm getting from a lot of Stevie fans. It's ok to feel underwhelmed by the EP and maybe wonder if Stevie's stalled a bit, creatively speaking. Although I think it's a little soon to be thinking like that. A lot of artists these days take more than 2 years between album releases. Adele's last album was actually released before IYD, and she's still considered "current".

Say You Will was basically two solo albums meshed together lightley. I would rather she not do album if its going to be bad. I'm glad she found Dave for solo work.

and judging from the new EP, a new Mac album would be the same - 2 solo records shoved together for just the sake of calling it a "Fleetwood Mac" album. It seems the EP is doing well in the charts and in reviews. Unfortunately, this will probably get them convinced to do a new album. Mick will certainly be happy. $$

Taking into consideration how LONG it will take them to complete an album, along with their ages, it will probably be the last release for them. I'd rather their last releases be solo, but it's not up to me.

sigh..

I'm going to disagree with you on this one. They are singing prominently with each other on 3 of the 4 songs. Stevie's voice is not turned down like Say You Will. They sound together. I think the harmonies are great. Stevie's voice on Without You is a little raw, but she didn't have much time to rest her voice. Her voice is honest.

I think that Lindsey is ready to make that Buckingham/Nicks album. I think he really wants to work with Stevie on songs. He has reached out to her. I"m expecting that if they do come up with 6 to 8 more songs, it will be much more of a collaboration then Say You Will. Lindsey and Stevie happy in the studio together—that hasn't happened since the early 70s and I liked the results.

When Stevie says she not going to worry about Sales anymore, I think it means she is inching ever closer to agreeing to another Fleetwood Mac album.

well, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I just listened to it again, and I hear Stevie's voice most evenly on "Without You"' but still turned down. The other two songs she's definitely turned down. I also dislike the vocal effects being used.
lastly, the guitar is too loud - drowns the vocals.
