How close was this explosion to the venue where FM is playing Thursday. The area will be all blocked off for days for investigation according to the radio .If FM does pull out.I hope they dont wait until to last minute.
I've been to the BOA Pavilion Not the TD Garden .
OK did this show sold out.

It's across town, in another section of the city.....I'm just wondering if they'll shut down all large events where thousands of people will be, given the heightened security this week.

Thanks guys.If its across town.FM show probably go on.
Mind as will leave cameras, cell phones in the car because of the high security check.

The game for tomorrow (4/16) is cancelled according to the TD Garden page but we probably shouldn't get too far ahead of ourselves. It's still days away and everything is just so unsure in Boston tonight. A lot can change in a few days. Plus- the venue is pretty far from the area where the bombings went off. It's such a sad day around the city- I sure hope the show doesn't cancelled.

Those of you who are going to the show Thursday night..Try to have some fun at the show on Thursday.I know it will be hard to do after events of Mondays bombings.
I know Stevie and the band will try to make the show a warm feeling and comment about what happen and wish everybody well in recovery after the senseless act .
Yes I agree with Viv.Call the venue to see whats up.Especially those of you that travel for miles to see your favorite band.

the Celtic game was canceled out of respect . they do not need to even play this game both teams secure and The game would not matter in terms of playoff seeding,
as for the concert , there is absolutely no reason fro them to postpone or cancel

According to a friend living in Boston, they are cancelling all events with large attendence.. Plus OBama is invading the city, so...even if they do not cancel the show, with that added mess and the necessary added security.. it wil be an even bigger mess...

May be true, but the hockey game was rescheduled for today, which is at the Garden and will have a large attendance.

True and Obama is scheduled to be here at 11am on the other side of the city. Might not affect things as badly as one would think. The garden's website is still selling tickets for the show and listed it as a scheduled show- not canceled. I also got my meet and greet info in my e mailed well ( not that that's always 100% but still..). This is a controlled area with bag checks and security. Definately different than an outside gathering of people. I'd expect security to be a bit more heightened- more thourough checks maybe- so be prepared for that. Also account for more traffic entering the city. I still feel like the show will more than likely go on.

As of now Bruins game is on for tonight at the Garden. The President should have left town well before show time so that shouldn't be an issue. I haven't heard any talk of cancelling the Red Sox game on Friday and Fenway is much closer to the bomb site then the Garden is. I'd be surprised at this point if show is cancelled. I'm not even going to bring a purse though. I imagine security will be extra tight.

I just got an email from the garden! Show is still on!
In light of the tragedy that took place in Boston on Monday, the TD Garden is working with state and local law enforcement to enhance our already diligent security measures and continue to provide a safe environment at all our events.
The safety of our guests and staff is of utmost importance. We ask that you please allow for extra time when coming to the TD Garden, including the North Station parking garage, due to increased security measures in place. Guests are also reminded that our current policies will remain in effect, including no bags and discretionary search

I wonder if they will play Sweet Caroline or a song by Boston or Aerosmith as a tribute to the people of Boston. Soldiers Angel doesn't quite translate to this tragedy so I doubt they will play that. But they should do something special for this concert only.

they probably took off right after the show.
here is a good review:
Fleetwood Mac did Boston proud! There was certainly a lot of love for the city and its people radiating from the TD Garden stage Thursday night. After the electric opening one-two punch of “Second Hand News” and “The Chain,” vocalist Stevie Nicks addressed the near-capacity crowd. “When I was young and I was sad or blue because of hard times, my mama told me to sing, that it would make me feel better. And that’s what we’re going to do for two-and-a-half hours. We’re going to sing the blues right out of Boston.” Later, Nicks dedicated ‘Landslide” to a soldier, Vincent, she met at Walter Reed hospital, and his Boston family. “They are Boston strong,” she said. Drummer Mick Fleetwood introduced “Don’t Stop” thusly: “Boston. What a city. Goodness, we know what you’re going through. Remember the message of the song, ‘Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow. It’ll be better than before. Yesterday’s gone. Yesterday’s gone.” The audience joined in on the chorus, turning it into an empowering cathartic experience. That song, of course, was written by retired member Christine McVie. The band certainly has a different dynamic in concert without her. Not better, not worse, just different. Fleetwood Mac these days has evolved into the Lindsey Buckingham/Stevie Nicks Show with founding members Fleetwood and bassist John McVie relegated to backing-band status. If Nicks is the caring, new agey earth mother, guitarist Buckingham is the mad genius who orchestrates everything. He stayed on stage for the entire show, delivering one spine-tingling guitar solo after another. He is a bit show-offy, but the guy ranks with the all-time great guitarists and I dare say his 10-minute blast through “I’m So Afraid” will likely be the best shredding a Boston audience will see this year. This is the riff that launched 1,001 air guitar solos in front of bedroom mirrors all across America in the mid-‘70s and it remains totally awesome. And Buckingham does it all on an undersized guitar that’s not much bigger than a ukelele. This is the Mac’s first tour in three years and the band was firing on all cylinders. So many great songs, all delivered with gusto: “Rhiannnon,” “Gold Dust Woman,” “Gypsy” and the solo hit “Stand Back” from husky-voiced, whirling dervish Nicks; “Go Your Own Way,” a solo acoustic “Never Going Back Again” and “Tusk” from Buckingham. More than half of the 23 songs performed came from those three masterful 1970s albums “Fleetwood Mac,” the 35-year-old “Rumours” and the indulgent, underappreciated “Tusk.” Although the crowd came to hear the hits, this is no mere nostalgia act. A new song, “Sad Angel,” from an upcoming EP, rocked with abandon and featured the familiar, glorious Nicks/Buckingham harmonies. It was also endearing to see the two former lovers walk on stage holding hands. Fleetwood Mac will return to Massachusetts on June 21, at Mansfield’s Comcast Center. By then, the heavy hearts of the band and its Boston Strong fans should be less dark. Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow, indeed.

Wow.Thanks for the vids Viv.I was thinking all night last night about the Boston show.
It looks like they filmed their hearts out there.
All I was listening to the news about when the MIT Police officer was shot and killed and a police chase through Boston and I was thinking of the safety of the band and the fans.
I'm glad the band booked out of there.

In Cbus an usher at the top of the stairs told us that the floor usher may ask us to pour our water into a cup, but we were not asked to do so. I don't recall ever having a cap removed at a concert-at European football it seems standard (hooligans / projectiles).

While I did see large cameras set up at the back of the venue, that's the only thing that caught my eye for "DVD" evidence. The band themselves did not mention or say they were filming this show or any others for DVD.

OK so they had just played their encore Don't Stop last night, after dedicating it to Boston, and Lindsey, Mick, John, and the rest of the band left the stage. I noticed Stevie was still standing there, looking at the audience. After a couple moments she smiled, grabbed the mic and said "Oh... Sometimes I forget where I am!!!" and trotted off stage with the rest of them. So funny! She's a gem.

Great show last night. Highlights: "The Chain," "Sara," "Sad Angel," "Gold Dust Woman," "Landslide," "Never Going Back Again," "Silver Springs," "Go Your Own Way."
Funniest quote overheard from an older guy in front of me:
Stevie, after singing "Sisters of the Moon": "That is a very old song....."
Man in front of me: "Well, you're a very old lady, Stevie!"

The reason this happened was because the guy standing next her right TelePrompTer (if you are facing the stage) he knocked the cable out and the TelePrompTer went black!

HAHA. This makes it almost even better. Either way, she's adorable. I just like her excuse "Sometimes I forget where I am." Me too, Stevie, me too. Sometimes that teleprompter of life goes black, and I'm left just standing there going "Why did I come into this room?" I know the feel.

Fleetwood Mac offers rock, respite from unnerving week
By Marc Hirsh
Two songs into Thursday’s Fleetwood Mac concert, Stevie Nicks related a conversation she once had with her mother. What could she do to help, Nicks asked, in hard times? Her mother’s response: Sing. A simplistic solution, perhaps, but mere days after the Marathon bombing (and hours before the chaotic manhunt for the suspects would shut the city down), 2½ hours of music seemed to serve the near-sellout TD Garden crowd just fine.
In that time, Fleetwood Mac (who swing back around to the Comcast Center on June 21) covered quite a bit of ground: hits, a told-you-so segment focused on the once-misunderstood/now-cultishly-adored “Tusk,” a song that so predated Nicks’s and Lindsey Buckingham’s Mac days that they’d forgotten about it until stumbling across the demo on YouTube and a new song. And more hits. So many hits.
And only one of them — the optimistic “Don’t Stop,” inevitable even before the week’s events — by Christine McVie, who hamstrung the set list by having annoyingly left the band 15 years ago. But it was hard to know what would have been cut to make room for her. Buckingham spat through the clamorous new wave garage rock of “Not That Funny” with vigor and rode out the pained, lumbering “I’m So Afraid” with an increasingly intense guitar solo. “Sara” found Nicks singing to Buckingham, then taking his microphone before peeling off into a small but sweet dance with him.
Save for the riff setting up the coda of “The Chain,” bassist John McVie did all he could to avoid calling attention to himself. Mick Fleetwood took a drum solo during “World Turning,” but he hardly needed it; the off-kilter thumps pushing each song forward and the fervor with which he attacked them were spotlight enough. He seemed to know it, too, capping a ferocious “Tusk” — its glowering paranoia writ arena-sized — by leaping to his feet and throwing his arms into the air.
But songs like that one, “Big Love,” and “Gold Dust Woman” notwithstanding, Fleetwood Mac wasn’t just about tension. Buckingham and Nicks harmonized ebulliently on the chorus of the fine, upbeat new “Sad Angel,” while the rolling drums gave “Eyes of the World” a headlong drive. And the elegiac “Silver Springs” helped draw the show to a close with its slow rise and reset, and slow rise again. As Fleetwood Mac knows quite well, singing together can get people through plenty of difficulty.

Fleetwood Mac is Boston Strong
Fleetwood Mac has a long history in Boston. When the young English blues band arrived in America in 1969, they were hired as the house band at the Boston Tea Party, the city’s legendary electric ballroom. And when Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined the band in 1975, Boston radio stations were the first to put the new-look Fleetwood Mac into heavy rotation.
“Boston is part of our Fleetwood Mac family,” an obviously emotional Stevie declared from the stage of Boston Garden (ok, TD BankNorth Garden), where the current FM lineup played to a packed house on Thursday night as the city recovered from the Marathon bombings three days earlier. “And you know, we feel that we’re part of the Boston family as well.” As the cheering grew in volume, she stepped to her microphone and shouted, “Boston Strong!”
Fleetwood Mac is now a quartet, Christine McVie having retired to the English countryside. The band is augmented by keyboards, a second guitarist, and Stevie’s longtime backing singers, Sharon Celani and Lori Nicks. Drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie still serve as a bedrock rhythm section behind Lindsey Buckingham’s lead guitar and vocals, with a willowy, golden-mane Stevie Nicks holding her own stage left.
The band took the stage in the dark to the sound of chirping crickets, a nice touch. They roared into “Second Hand News,” indicating that the back-story of Stevie and Lindsey’s broken love affair would be the evening’s main subtext. This was confirmed in the set’s second song, “The Chain,” a bitter lover’s complaint.
Before slipping into the soft-rock classic “Dreams,” by way of consoling her audience, Stevie said: “In times of trouble, my mother would say, ‘Sing to them.’ So tonight we’re going to sing two and a half hours of kick ass rock and roll for you.”
The concerts paraded through a long career of hit singles (“Rhiannon,” Landslide”), Buckingham’s quirky songs (“Not That Funny,” “Never Going Back,” “So Afraid”) and Stevie’s crowd-pleasing classics (“Sarah,” “Gypsy,” “Gold Dust Woman” backlit with a luminous golden shawl). “Stand Back” paid tribute to Nicks’s solo career, and got the biggest crowd response of the evening.
Fleetwood Mac also other introduced two new songs, always a risky bet in a jukebox greatest-hits concert. The first was hard rocking “Bad Angel,” shortly to be released on Ep according to Buckingham. The other was an early demo, “Without You,” that dated from the early Seventies, when Stevie and Lindsey moved to Los Angeles in search of their big break. The “big” part of that break, Stevie told the crowd, was when 6’6” Mick Fleetwood stumbled into the studio where they were working and heard the song. “We were crazy in L.A., and crazy in love with each other,” she added.
Stevie Nicks put on her trademark black top hat for the finale, which as always was “Go Your Own Way.” When Fleetwood Mac crashed to a rumbling halt, Stevie Nicks again reminded us: “Boston strong!”
Stephen Davis wrote the best-selling Fleetwood (1990). His new biography of Stevie Nicks will be published next year.

Well, i've had quite a bit of time to mull things over. I wasn't going to write a review this time. However, if I don't write some of this stuff down I will probably forget 85% of it.
The minute the bombings happened (I'm from Boston, and luckily, no, I wasn't at the marathon due to work, however, I have stood in that exact spot before), I thought the show was going to be cancelled. Both the Celtics and Bruins had already called their games, mostly done out of respect. I thought, theres no way they are going to let the band and 20,000 people into Boston after a terror attack. However, I was proven wrong.
The attack happened on a Monday, Stevie was in Toronto at the screening (Tuesday?) that same week. I was very surprised when she *didn't* mention anything about Boston in any of the interviews.
Thursday rolled around and the show was still 'on.' I hate the day of a show, I'm always filled with anxiety. Not bad anxiety, but just excited anxiety. I had third row seats on Lindseys side. After several beers at the Fours, my family and I entered the Garden. We walked by several officers with assault rifles, calming to say the least.
I walked right into the Garden and went right to the stage. People had already gathered at the front and they were allowing the "first three rows" to go up. I took a spot to the right of Lindsey, which is great, but I didn't realize his amp would almost completely block my view of Stevie (could only see her head).
The lights went down and the audience went crazy. It looked to me like it was a sell out. I always forget how small Stevie actually is. The internet makes her look much larger. I was very excited for this show. Way more excited than I was for Unleashed. From what I saw on youtube, Stevie seemed to be moving a lot better than her 2012 stage presence.
Second Hand News - This is a fantastic opener. I knew without a doubt that they were going to open with this. I called it when they announced the tour. As a matter of fact, I think someone must have handed them the 82' Mirage set during rehearsals, because they are nearly identical. Lindsey had a guitar issue at the beginning of the song, something wasn't working. He played his solo right over my head!
The Chain - I sort of miss this as the opener. It has a different energy when its in the first slot of the set list. If they aren't going to play this first, then I think they should move it somewhere else and change the arrangement (I'll touch on this later). The crowd went nuts for this one, especially during John's solo. I'm not going to repeat what Stevie said, you've already read it.
Dreams - Boring. I understand they have to play it, but I don't think I have listened to this song once since I saw Stevie last summer!
Sad Angel - Love the harmonies on this song. It definitely was more exciting the first few times I heard it, but its still a solid Mac song. Still, however, I think both Stevie and Lindsey's solo material hold up stronger than their 2 new tracks. It sounds like Lindsey just used his guitar parts from I Know I'm Not Wrong. Very fun song, though! Stevie runs away at the end to change for Rhiannon.
Rhiannon - New shawl for this. Nothing new from her on this one, really.
Not That Funny - I'm glad Lindsey decided to talk about 'Tusk' but I think their song selections were really crappy. We've heard him do this one 100 times already, there was no need to do this again. I would have preferred IKINW again if I knew this was the other choice. What about "What Makes You Think You're the One" or "Thats Enough for Me" or hell, even "The Ledge." There were so many other wonderful choices. I hate that he landed on this one. I'm just so glad we didn't have to endure a 2x drum solo from Mick.
Tusk - Yes, sweet Jesus this rocks. Never fails. Whether its Lindsey by humself or with the Mac, this song is just amazing live. The energy is just through the roof. You can tell Stevie likes this one too. She was all over the stage.
Sisters - Now this is what i've been waiting for. I guess its what we have all been waiting for. Now I knew that this could never match up to the Mirage version, but I think they could have made it a little more interesting. First of all, no new outfit? Hello, the hooded cape would have been spectacular. Second, this should still have been in the first encore. Third, Lindseys guitar was quite weak. Mick and John were pounding away, though. I loved how at the beginning the crowd went nuts. very fun, but a little anti-climatic.
Sara - I couldn't believe this one is back in the set. Honestly, the 2004 version was plenty. I think her Soundstage version was better than any recent Mac performance. This does suck the energy right out of the set. She went for the lower parts on some of the high notes. However, I was glad that she sang the "and the wind became.." part. Also, I love the new skirts shes sporting. Was so sick of the ruffle dress. Lindsey seemed extra flirty when she went over to him. He sort of put his head on her back. They did their little circle hug thing. I think at this point shes like "this is ridiculous, but i'll play it up for the audience."
Big Love - Way overdone, but still amazing to watch.
Landslide - As sick as I am of this, it does always seem to bring a tear to my eye. Especially with everything that happened that week, it seemed extra emotional. Stevie dedicated it to Vincent again, whom she brought on stage last summer (talk about tears).
NGBA - I filmed it. Way too slow, kick it up to Rumours speed please.
Without You - This song has grown on me more than I thought it would. What was more surprising to me was how much the crowd seemed into it. Those voices seriously just melt together.
Gypsy - Why? Why? Why? Again. It doesn't work live, at least not this arrangement. I know they like to do it because Lindsey loves it, or at least thats what I think. She did twirl which is always fabulous. Its funny, a friend of ours after the show "Lindsey is pounding and hammering on the guitar, a genius really, and all Stevie has to do is twirl, A VERY SLOW TWIRL, and the place goes insane." This needs to go. Immediately. Gypsy, Sara or both. If they are not going to reinvent the arrangement, then they just need to go.
Eyes of the World - YAY! This was one of the better songs the band has done in the past 10 years. The arrangement works great. However, again, they *could* have done something different (Blue Letter). I still love it though.
GDW - Snooze. Over it.
So Afraid - Amazing guitar solo, the crowd went nuts. Its moments like this that make me wonder why his solo shows are so undersold. by the end of a Mac concert, you always have a converted crowd of Lindsey fans.
Stand Back - Love it. Never thought I would see Stand Back AND Sisters of the Moon in the same set.
Go Your Own Way - Played Lindseys guitar, per usual.
World Turning - More fun than I thought it would be. Lindsey sat down on the side of the stage, very little fan interaction though.
After the band intros, Mick said something about Don't Stop thinking about tomorrow and that this song was for us.
Silver Springs - GORGEOUS. I always forget how amazing this one is live.
As for the last song, they should Say Goodbye to it.

Yes, it's good to write it down and have it for yourself a few years from now.
I never really thought that Stevie likes Tusk, but it has a lot of elements, not least of which is the horns and I like the way they use the video behind it this tour. It's a fun song, Lindsey running around doing that little up and down motion all over the stage. I remember the days when he and John and Christine would huddle together, dancing and playing. It was exhilarating.
I haven't watched videos, because I don't want to overdo, but I will be interested in seeing if Without You improves for me the next time I see it the way it has for you. Something to look forward to.
I wonder if Mick just started saying "Don't Stop thinking about tomorrow" at Boston. It's very fitting. Usually he would just say be good to each other -- which would also take on added poignance after the bombings.

Well, i've had quite a bit of time to mull things over. I wasn't going to write a review this time. However, if I don't write some of this stuff down I will probably forget 85% of it.
I really enjoyed reading your song-by-song review of the concert. I did something similar for my show at Madison Square Garden and wanted to respond to some of your points.
I too was expecting Second Hand News as the opener. I felt they would want to change it up from The Chain and Monday Morning, and Lindsey was using SHN as the key song to transition from his opening acoustic set to his backing band in his last tour. Definitely started strong.
While I don't think Dreams is that boring--the audience was very into it and it has to be played--I understand where you're coming from. It's one of the most obvious songs that misses Christine's presence, as her vocal was instrumental to the glorious sound of the chorus.
I agree with Not That Funny. At my concert, that song was the first moment when I could see people leave their seats to get concessions or go to the bathroom. In fact, maybe that began as soon as it was clear Lindsey was introducing Tusk songs. That song didn't do anything for me--after listening to the Tusk tour rehearsals on Youtube (which are a lot of fun...and Christine is playing guitar on a few songs ), I think I would've most wanted to hear What Makes You Think You're The One.
Yeah, Sisters of the Moon, it could be much more interesting and I felt it was a bit anticlimactic. Stevie's "Sisters" over the full-band chorus segments are growing on me, but I'm still unsure if I like that touch--it seems like a choice that speaks to the feel of her most recent solo work (not that that is necessarily a bad thing). I agree about Lindsey's guitar: it needs a stronger sound. The song just doesn't rock or reach that intense place they used to capture. I'd like to see it lengthened to include the cowbell break. But to stress, Stevie really went for the vocals; she impressed me...the band instrumental did not.
I actually think Sara is a solid transition to the acoustic segment of the show. So I didn't think it took the energy out of the set. I was most missing Lindsey's guitar part that he used to make more prominent, especially at the beginning (a la the Fleetwood Mac Live album version).
Big Love was staged very well, great design choice to highlight his guitar playing. I wish they would do this acoustic-style treatment to another song. To be honest, they really haven't done what Christine called "a new take on a very old song" since The Dance. What about an acoustic Gypsy? The audience really wants to hear that song and were very into it at MSG, but it did sound a little slow and of all the songs, I think that one makes it most obvious that Stevie is taking down the high notes, completely bypassing "Oh, and it lights up the night" (which the audience was singing when she was not). A new, revamped version could better accommodate her changes and not make it as obvious to the audience.
With Landslide, I think an interesting choice to engage the audience (everyone was singing this one) would be to actually lengthen it, for Stevie to start and then let the crowd sing the first verse. Then, she could of course go back and sing her part or come in. It'd be very fun to create this dynamic of audience singing, like Tina Turner would do on What's Love Got To Do With It or Beyonce more recently with Irreplaceable. I know Stevie's not one to change things up, but it could give her voice a brief break and really bring in the audience. Again, a somewhat fresh take on an old song. I'm convinced Lindsey and Stevie could pull of a ballad version of Little Lies that slows down the song, but then again the band really hasn't reworked any of their old songs in their performances since The Dance.
Without You didn't do much for me. I'm still waiting for Lindsey and Stevie to perform Crystal with Fleetwood Mac, especially when John has repeatedly said it's his favorite song.
I could've done without Eyes of the World. That's probably my last criticism of the set. I thought the background images were cheesy, and I would've preferred Bleed To Love Her, I Don't Want to Know, or Thrown Down. Interesting you mention Blue Letter--I really like that song, but I'm not convinced Lindsey would ever choose it now, since he didn't write it. Kind of like how I'm pretty sure Stevie will never go with Seven Wonders again, those songs may be seen as not really 'their' songs.
Very cool you got to play Lindsey's guitar!! It seems like Don't Stop really resonated with the Boston audience.
